Three newborns tragically lost their lives and several others sustained injuries following a devastating fire in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the District Women's Hospital in Amravati, Maharashtra. The early-morning blaze erupted at approximately 3:15 AM in the ward's outborn section after a sudden malfunction and explosion in a ventilator. Out of the 39 infants admitted across the unit's three sections, hospital staff, nurses, and security personnel rushed into the smoke-filled ward to spearhead a rapid evacuation, successfully rescuing 36 babies.
