Models, designers, and fashion lovers gathered at Goma’s Serena Hotel for the fourth edition of Kivu Fashion Week, founded in 2022 by Voyance Batinda. The runway showcased evening gowns and modern interpretations of traditional clothing while promoting solidarity, hope, and resilience in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a region affected by long-running conflict. Despite ongoing violence and recent clashes involving M23 rebels, the organisers and participants say continuing the fashion show is a way to unite communities and highlight creativity, culture, and peace beyond the war.
