Breaking news from Japan: A second earthquake has struck the country in just one day, with a magnitude 6.2 earthquake reported in the Hokkaido region.
According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the earthquake struck off the coast of Hokkaido at around 10:45 p.m. local time. Japan’s Meteorological Agency reported the earthquake at a magnitude of 6.0, with the epicentre located at a depth of approximately 40 kilometres.
Japanese authorities reported a maximum seismic intensity of four on Japan’s seven-point seismic intensity scale.
There is currently no tsunami warning following the latest earthquake.
