U.S.-Colombia: Colombian President Gustavo Petro has renewed calls to revive the historic vision of Gran Colombia, envisioning a 21st-century regional alliance combining Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Panama. Inspired by Simón Bolívar's dream, Petro proposes this entity as a confederation of sovereign nations with shared institutions such as a common parliament and a collegial presidency, similar to the European Union.
