There was fear in the minds of passengers. Those in the medical college in Ahmedabad struggled to recover from the horror. WION spoke to Yash Kotak, a final-year MBBS student at B.J. <p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Kotak said he saw ambulances and rescue crews rushing to the scene.&nbsp;<br>At the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, located near the hostel, the emergency room was overwhelmed.&nbsp;<br>Kotak recalled seeing anxious relatives rush into the ER as police personnel managed the chaos.&nbsp;<br>Many bodies were charred beyond recognition.</p><p>Authorities turned to DNA profiling to identify the deceased.&nbsp;<br>The college shut down for almost a month. Counselling rooms were set up for the immediate families of the victims.</p><h3><strong>The bitter loss and deafening silence</strong></h3><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Kotak said his batchmates were all away from the hostel at the time of the accident.<br>But a few juniors were missing.&nbsp;<br>After days-long search, they were found dead.<br>Among them, a female cook whom the residents fondly called “maasi”.<br>Her granddaughter, who used to accompany her, also lost her life.<br>Kotak said the news was disturbing for the students.<br>“They had a different connection. It was not easy to accept that the people who fed them almost every day were gone."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The hostel was home to both doctors and medical students.&nbsp;<br>“It was lunchtime when it happened, many students were having lunch in the mess and many were on call with their loved ones. <p>&nbsp;</p><p>Like an open wound, the hostel building still bears the gaping hole where the plane crash-landed: blackened walls, damaged foundation, broken concrete, burnt remains, abandoned personal belongings.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>“There is a complete silence. Nobody likes to go there,” Kotak said.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h3><strong>A tragedy before college foundation day</strong></h3><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Air India crash happened just three days before the college’s foundation day.<br>“It was a black day for our college”, Kotak said.</p><p>But this one too shall pass. “We will come out of the grief. We will stand tall,” he said.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>On the anniversary of the crash, the college plans to hold a blood donation drive and a prayer meeting in memory of the victims.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Plans for a new hostel building at the site are underway.</p><p>Soon, the older students who witnessed the crash will pass out as new medical practitioners and will slowly move forward.</p><p>Whispers of the tragic disaster might quieten over time.<br>But the memories will never truly fade away.</p>

I said a very wrong thing. More has been in the news for a crowd work moment during his recent stand-up show, where an audience member by the name of Himanshu Jangra recounted his recent experience of going on a date. More was seen laughing at Jangra’s comment, and the entire moment went viral online, but for all the wrong reasons. The moment soon snowballed into a deeper conversation about dating, consent and modern relationships. More was particularly called out for laughing at the comments made by Jangra instead of schooling him about consent. Days later, More apologised after facing severe criticism online. However, the viral moment has sparked a nationwide debate on male entitlement, comedians and their role in creating impact on their followers and more. What is the controversy around Pranit More’s show? The controversy traces back to a viral clip from one of Pranit More's crowd-work shows that was shared on social media by the comedian. In the video, audience member Himanshu Jangra shared a story about going on a date. According to him, he and the woman had chicken biryani that cost around ₹360-₹370. Later, when she asked him to drop her off at home, he made a remark suggesting he needed to "recover" the money he had spent. The audience laughed at his comment, including Pranit More, who called it a "Peak Gurgaon moment." The clip was initially posted as a funny crowd interaction. However, the internet didn't see it that way. Why people got upset with the viral clip For many users, the issue was not with Jangra spending Rs 370 on a plate of biryani. It was deeper. Most argued that the mindset behind the joke was problematic. That a man would expect sex or intimacy in return of spending money on a date. It reduced dating to a transaction instead of being a mutual experience of getting to know each other. The backlash grew quickly. Women across social media began posting reaction videos, memes and sarcastic reels questioning how a ₹370 meal could be viewed as an "investment” which required a return. Suddenly, "₹370 ki biryani" wasn't just a joke anymore. It had become shorthand for entitlement in dating. Women flooded social media with reactions urging others to earn better and never agree to trade a meal for sex or intimacy without consent. Others also called out Jangra for his entitled behaviour. The backlash was massive and led to a Gurgaon firm, where Jangra was employed as a developer, firing him from his job. Spotlight on Pranit More The bigger problem, many felt, was More’s reaction on Jangra’s claims. Some alleged that More even gave Jangra cash prize at the end of the show for being the funniest that night, a fact that WION cannot individually verify. More’s reaction, many felt, would only encourage the audience to normalise entitled behaviour. His reaction also was reflective of how the audience at the show reacted and interpreted the situation. Had Pranit called out the joke immediately, the reaction online would have been different. As criticism mounted, Pranit More issued a public apology. He acknowledged that he should have handled the moment differently and that was a ‘lapse of judgement’ on his part and said the comments did not reflect his personal views. He also stated that the clip had been removed from his platforms because he did not want to normalise or amplify such remarks. While initially outrage was on the part where Jangra talks of wanting to get back the Rs 370 he spent. But in the past two days more clips of the entire conversation has emerged where the Gurgaon techie can be heard giving graphic details of how he grabbed his date and got physically intimate. All along, More can be seen as laughing even as the audience cheers on loudly. Was the apology enough? Perhaps not, because days after More apologised, the clip was widely circulated and discussed. More may have gone with the flow at that moment but what's alarming is that the clip was later edited, on his instruction, and then uploaded on his social media pages, and at no point did he feel that the monologue was problematic. He only apologised when there was a backlash online after the video went viral. The viral clip has also divided the internet. Some have argued that Jangra’s demands were not completely unreasonable, but most called out the entitled behaviour. Internet reacts Women in particular reacted strongly on the internet but opted for humour to call out the men. Creators posted videos joking that ₹370 wouldn't even cover basic beauty products, sanitary napkins, fuel costs, or everyday expenses. A string of sightings followed in a residential neighbourhood the same day, at a shopping arcade on Sunday, and subsequently at a park, a high school and a junior school. On Monday morning, residents reported spotting a bear near a wholesale market, the city official said.

<p>In a strange incident, a local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader allegedly tried to escape the police by hiding beneath a large heap of sarees in a clothing shop's storeroom in order to escape from custody. The bizarre incident took place in Howrah, West Bengal, where police eventually traced and arrested him. A &nbsp;video of the incident has since circulated widely on social media platforms. The accused was identified as Brahmanand Chakraborty, a local TMC leader.</p><p><br>The action followed allegations from residents that Chakraborty had demanded and accepted ‘cut money’ (illegal commissions) from funds allocated under a government housing scheme. After complaints were filed, police registered a case against him and launched a probe.</p><p><br>A video surfaced on social media shows Chakraborty taking refuge in a nearby clothing store and concealing himself under stacks of sarees in the storeroom. In the video, Police officers are seen searching the premises and then later pulling him out from beneath the garments.</p>

He had been going through severe allegations of using her influence and intimidation methods to extract lakhs of rupees from ordinary citizens over a long period.</p><p><br>While confirming that she had returned the money, Ghosh sought to place responsibility on senior local party leaders. She alleged that Trinamool Youth Congress leader Nayanjyoti Saha had compelled her to collect the funds and had separately extorted money from people by invoking her name.</p><p><br>Ghosh said the amount returned on Friday was only the first instalment and assured beneficiaries that the remaining money would be repaid in stages.
