The White House has rejected reports that the United States formally requested a ceasefire extension in the ongoing war with Iran. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the claim was “not true,” stressing that negotiations with Tehran are still ongoing.

Will Iran-US Happen This Weekend? White House: No Ceasefire Extension Requested

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Iranian representatives contacted the White House, stating Tehran "wants to make a deal very badly" following collapsed negotiations in Pakistan. Trump signaled potential negotiations despite simultaneously initiating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and threatening military action if a deal is not reached.

A routine fast-food delivery at the White House quickly turned into an unusual and wide-ranging press conference featuring President Donald Trump. The event soon shifted tone as reporters questioned Trump about a controversial AI-generated image previously shared on his Truth Social account, depicting him as Jesus. Responding, Trump said, “I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do (with the) Red Cross,” adding, “And I do make people better. I make people a lot better.”&nbsp; Also Read: <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/-blockade-of-strait-of-hormuz-has-started-other-countries-will-help-trump-1776102081132">'Blockade of Strait of Hormuz has started, other countries will help': Trump</a><h2>Watch the video here</h2>

Discussion then moved to escalating tensions with Iran. Trump asserted that negotiations had resumed despite recent setbacks, saying Iran ‘very badly’ wants to make a deal, while emphasizing that any agreement must prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Trump also addressed criticism from Pope Leo XIV, making his stance clear: “There's nothing to apologize for. He's wrong.” He added, "Pope Leo said things that are wrong. He was very much against what I'm doing about Iran, and you cannot have a nuclear Iran," and further described the pope as “very weak on crime and other things.”&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/videos/us-vp-jd-vance-faces-historically-worst-approval-ratings-1776082512972/embed">https://www.wionews.com/videos/us-vp-jd-vance-faces-historically-worst-approval-ratings-1776082512972/embed</a>&nbsp;The conversation briefly shifted again when Trump asked Simmons her opinion on transgender athletes in women’s sports. She hesitated, replying, "Um..." prompting Trump to intervene.&nbsp;&nbsp;Pulling out cash, he handed her what appeared to be $100 and said, "Thank you," adding, “You reminded me!” What started as a simple food delivery ultimately turned into a headline-grabbing moment, blending policy promotion, political commentary, and unexpected humour.&nbsp;Disclaimer: WION takes utmost care to accurately and responsibly report ongoing conflicts in West Asia involving Israel, Iran, the US, Gulf nations, and non-state actors like Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, Islamic State, and others. The $6 billion in question, originating from Iranian petroleum exports to South Korea, was first blocked in 2018. White House says Netanyahu backs Trump on Iran ceasefire; Lebanon excluded as Israel’s strikes continue, labeled a separate conflict

The White House has claimed a major military success against Iran, saying U.S. forces destroyed over 150 Iranian naval vessels during the conflict. At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has clarified that Hezbollah and Lebanon were not part of the ceasefire agreement, highlighting key gaps in the deal. While Washington projects confidence, the situation remains complex, with multiple fronts still active and questions lingering over how stable the ceasefire really is.

White House: Trump Ballroom Plan Faces Legal Heat As Critics Flag Design Flaws | WION

Donald Trump's ballroom at the White House has major design flaws, including a grand staircase in front which serves no purpose in the area, while the true entrance is at the side of the building, and a flurry of columns that block the light inside the building. The White House has rejected Elon Musk’s offer to pay Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers during the ongoing government shutdown, citing legal and ethical concerns.

Officials said federal rules bar private individuals from directly paying government employees, with compensation strictly governed by congressional appropriations.

The administration also flagged Musk’s existing government contracts as a potential conflict, adding that such an arrangement would pose significant legal challenges.

The decision comes as thousands of TSA workers continue to work without full pay amid the funding impasse, raising concerns over airport disruptions and staffing shortages.

The White House sparked a buzz on social media after posting two short cryptic videos on Wednesday night (Mar 25). The purpose or meaning behind the clips, which were posted on Instagram and X, was not clear as social media users tried to make sense of it. One video was later deleted from both handles. This comes amid the war with Iran, further fueling speculations about whether it had anything to do with the ongoing conflict in West Asia.&nbsp; The first video, which was deleted, was posted around 9:15 p.m. EST. It appeared that it was recorded using a smartphone with the camera pointing downwards. In the four-second-long clip, a woman’s feet can be seen, and a voice is heard saying, “It’s launching soon, right?” The video also had a caption reading: “sound on”. The video was deleted from both the Instagram and X accounts of the White House about 90 minutes after it was posted. Some social media users also claimed that the voice in the first video sounded like that of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Responding, Donald Trump said he viewed Kent as “weak on security” and called his departure positive. Donald Trump might be fighting a war with Iran, but he is also apparently busy planning the next innovation he would like to bring to the White House. According to Rodney Mims Cook Jr, the head of the Commission of Fine Arts, the columns outside the presidential home might soon go away. He told the Washington Post that the Ionic columns at the main entrance of the White House will be replaced with those in the Corinthian style. These columns are more ornate, and the president loves them, Cook told the outlet. The department is responsible for advising the president on design, style and aesthetics. "Corinthian is the highest order [of column], and that’s what our other two branches of government have," Cook said. He even expressed shock at the original decision of not having them in the first place. "Why the White House didn’t originally use them, at least on the north front, which is considered the front door, is beyond me," he said. 'Media wants US to lose war': Trump accuses media of ‘misleading’ coverage of West Asia war

Iran has accused the United States of reversing its stance on Russian oil, claiming Washington is now encouraging countries, including India, to purchase Russian crude after months of pressure to curb such imports. The comments came from Iran’s foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who said the shift reflected a dramatic change in US policy following the outbreak of war involving Iran and rising instability in the Middle East energy market.&nbsp;According to Araghchi, the White House had spent months pressuring India and other countries to scale back purchases of Russian oil after Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. But the disruption caused by the conflict involving Iran, including the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, has forced a rethink in Washington as global energy markets tighten. He said the US position had quickly shifted as oil supplies from the Gulf were threatened and global prices surged. “Europe thought backing the illegal war on Iran would win US support against Russia. Pathetic.”&nbsp; The comments come as Russia emerges as one of the biggest economic beneficiaries of the turmoil in the Middle East. The disruption to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz has sharply increased demand for Russian crude from Asian buyers, particularly India and China. Analysts say Moscow is now earning tens of millions of dollars in additional revenue each day as prices rise and demand shifts.<h2>Here's what Iran's FM Seyed Abbas Araghchi said</h2>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet">The U.S. spent months on bullying India into ending oil imports from Russia. After two weeks of war with Iran, White House is now begging the world—incl India—to buy Russian crude. Europe thought backing illegal war on Iran would win U.S. support against Russia. Pathetic. <a href="https://t.co/fbkrXpXa9P">pic.twitter.com/fbkrXpXa9P</a>&mdash; Seyed Abbas Araghchi (@araghchi) <a href="https://twitter.com/araghchi/status/2032544442503045126?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 13, 2026</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Russia has so far earned an estimated $1.3bn to $1.9bn in windfall revenues from taxes on oil exports in the first days of the crisis. That gain has been driven by higher prices for Russia’s Urals crude and stronger demand from Asian markets. Industry data indicates Russian oil is now trading roughly $20–$30 per barrel above its average price in the previous three months. Some shipments to India are reportedly being sold at a premium compared with Brent crude, a reversal from the discounts that Russian oil previously offered.&nbsp; Also Read: <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/-a-big-hurdle-for-iranians-without-weapons-to-challenge-regime-trump-1773432772191">‘A big hurdle for Iranians without weapons to challenge regime': Trump</a>&nbsp;Energy analysts say the situation has given Moscow an unexpected financial boost after a difficult start to the year. Revenues from energy taxes had fallen sharply in early 2026, pushing Russia’s budget deficit to more than 90 per cent of the level projected for the full year. However, higher oil prices could quickly ease that pressure. “If the current shipment schedules, market intelligence, and cargo movements continue, total Russian crude arrivals for the full month could reach close to 2 million barrels per day,” said Sumit Ritolia, a lead analyst at Kpler in New Delhi, as quoted in an interview. “Russia is the big winner of this conflict,” he added.&nbsp;&nbsp;Analysts say the surge in prices could generate significant additional income for Moscow’s budget. Every $10 increase in the average monthly price per barrel of oil generates an additional $2.8bn in revenue for Russian oil exporters, of which the state receives about $1.63bn through taxation. “Roughly calculated, that equates to $54mn extra a day in budget revenues.” Some analysts believe Russia could earn between $3.3bn and $5bn in additional state revenues by the end of the month if current prices persist.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/videos/jd-vance-says-kristi-noem-has-great-opportunity-in-new-shields-of-america-role-wion-1773432891942/embed">https://www.wionews.com/videos/jd-vance-says-kristi-noem-has-great-opportunity-in-new-shields-of-america-role-wion-1773432891942/embed</a>&nbsp;Much will depend on how long the Middle East crisis continues and whether energy flows from the Gulf remain disrupted. “Russia is the big winner of this conflict.” At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin has suggested global energy markets may be entering “a new pricing reality” and floated the possibility of resuming energy exports to Europe. Analysts say Russia could also increase oil production if prices remain high.&nbsp;&nbsp; The country is currently producing about 300,000 barrels per day below its quota under the OPEC+ agreement. However, whether Moscow can fully capitalise on the situation will depend largely on how the United States handles sanctions on Russian energy exports while the war in Ukraine continues.&nbsp;Disclaimer: WION takes utmost care to accurately and responsibly report ongoing conflicts in West Asia involving Israel, Iran, the US, Gulf nations, and non-state actors like Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, Islamic State, and others. White House U-Turn: Now ‘begging’ countries, including India, to buy Russian crude, claims Iran

Iran has accused the United States of reversing its stance on Russian oil, claiming Washington is now encouraging countries, including India, to purchase Russian crude after months of pressure to curb such imports. The comments came from Iran’s foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who said the shift reflected a dramatic change in US policy following the outbreak of war involving Iran and rising instability in the Middle East energy market. According to Araghchi, the White House had spent months pressuring India and other countries to scale back purchases of Russian oil after Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. Pathetic.” The comments come as Russia emerges as one of the biggest economic beneficiaries of the turmoil in the Middle East. The disruption to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz has sharply increased demand for Russian crude from Asian buyers, particularly India and China. Analysts say Moscow is now earning tens of millions of dollars in additional revenue each day as prices rise and demand shifts. Here's what Iran's FM Seyed Abbas Araghchi said

He also claimed the court was influenced by foreign interests, without presenting evidence.
