<h2><strong>Kruger National Park fines driver for hitting lion</strong></h2>

<p>Kruger National Park spokesperson said that it could not be determined if the action was deliberate or not but the driver was fined.</p>

<p>The incident's video was posted on social media platforms, after which the national park authorities responded to the issue.</p>

<p>Kruger National Park spokesperson Ike Phaahla said, "We dealt with him by tracing the number plate. All we know is that he was trying to make a way at the sighting when he bumped the animal."</p>

<p>"For him, any activity that was pleasure-seeking in its own right—anything that one does for the purposes of pleasure alone, as opposed to practical purposes—was 'sexual'."</p>

<p>Thus, simple pleasures like a baby sucking a dummy, a child kicking a football, or swinging on a swing, were described by Freud as "sexual," purely because they provided enjoyment. This broad definition led to significant misunderstandings of Freud's theories, and "Late in his life, Freud acknowledged as much," he added.</p>

<p>The new edition by Solms rectifies several translation errors from James Strachey’s standard English translation of the 1950s and 60s.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Solms, fluent in German and raised in Namibia where an older form of the language is still spoken, has corrected these mistakes and contextualised the word "sexual."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I've been correcting some errors: Strachey was elderly, and his sight was poor," said Solms. He has also updated some outdated technical terms and included essays, lectures, and other writings not present in Strachey's version.</p>

<p>The timepiece shows the Ram Temple&nbsp;at&nbsp;9 o'clock, while it states "Jai Shree Ram" at 6&nbsp;o'clock.&nbsp;Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman feature prominently on both editions of the watch that has a saffron bracelet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The colour chosen for the watch is deeply symbolic, representing spirituality, purity, and the essence of prayer, which are central to the values it embodies in Hindutva. Every detail is designed to resonate with cultural and spiritual significance."</p>

<p>According to the company, only 49 limited edition watches have been manufactured with 35 already out of the shelf.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>After years of court cases and several controversies, the Indian Supreme Court in 2019 granted the land to the Hindu side to build the temple. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone (Bhumi puja) in August 2020 and&nbsp;nearly four&nbsp;years later,&nbsp;took part in&nbsp;the consecration ceremony held in the grand temple, with Ram Lalla installed in the sanctum sanctorum.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Humanity is in a race against time to harness the colossal emerging power of artificial intelligence for the good of all, while averting dire risks, a top UN official said Thursday.</p>

<p>"We've let the genie out of the bottle," said Doreen Bogdan-Martin, head of the United Nations' International Telecommunications Union (ITU).</p>

<p>"We are in a race against time," she told the opening of a two-day AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Recent developments in AI have been nothing short of extraordinary."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The thousands gathered at the conference heard how advances in generative AI are already speeding up efforts to solve some of the world's most pressing problems, such as climate change, hunger and social care.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I believe we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to guide AI to benefit all the world's people," Bogdan-Martin told AFP ahead of the summit.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But she lamented Thursday that one-third of humanity still remains completely offline, and is "excluded from the AI revolution without a voice".&nbsp;</p>

<p>"This digital and technological divide is no longer acceptable."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bogdan-Martin highlighted that AI holds "immense potential for both good and bad", stressing that it was vital to "make AI systems safe".</p>

<p>Researchers analysed the sounds made by infants during the first year of their lives. They found that these squeals, squeaks, and growls tend to occur in groups.</p>

<p>"One of the primary reasons for our pursuit of the question of clustering is that it could turn out to be a useful marker in screening for disorders of communication," explains Dr Hyunjoo Yoo from the University of Alabama, the first author of the research.</p>

<p>Selecting random five-minute segments from each video, the researchers analysed them for the presence of squeals, growls and vocants — vowel-like sounds.</p>

<p>They extracted 15,774 segments from 1,104 recordings and found that more than 60 per cent of the recordings showed clustering of either squeals or growls.</p>

<p>"There was not a single infant who, on evaluation of all the available recordings for the infant, showed neither a significant case of squeal clustering nor of growl clustering," said the researchers.</p>

<p>Clustering across the six groups, as per the researchers, suggests that some mechanism of vocal exploration is present from the beginning of life.</p>

<p>Researchers from Cambridge University's Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence in a paper published in the journal Philosophy and Technology have highlighted how these deadbots can cause psychological harm or be misused.</p>

<h2><strong>'Overwhelming emotional weight'</strong></h2>

<p>As per the researchers, such deadbots can distress users, especially children, by insisting their dead parent is still "with you". They contend that while initially, these digital recreations may offer some semblance of comfort, in the losing term, they can cause psychological distress.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per study co-author Dr Katarzyna Nowaczyk-Basińska, "Rapid advancements in generative AI mean that nearly anyone with Internet access and some basic know-how can revive a deceased loved one", it is an "ethical minefield".</p>

<p>"It's important to prioritise the dignity of the deceased, and ensure that this isn't encroached on by financial motives of digital afterlife services, for example."</p>

<p>One potential scenario the researchers propose is the misuse of the "data donor" or the digitally recreated dead loved one, to push products and advertising.</p>

<p>"People might develop strong emotional bonds with such simulations, which will make them particularly vulnerable to manipulation," said co-author Dr Tomasz Hollanek.</p>

<p>They suggest that deadbots should be retired in a "dignified way".</p>

<p>"Methods and even rituals for retiring deadbots in a dignified way should be considered. This may mean a form of digital funeral, for example, or other types of ceremony depending on the social context."</p>

<p>"We recommend design protocols that prevent deadbots being utilised in disrespectful ways, such as for advertising or having an active presence on social media," added Hollanek.</p>

<p>They also call for age restrictions for users and "meaningful transparency" to ensure users are consistently aware that they are interacting with an AI.</p>

<p>"These services run the risk of causing huge distress to people if they are subjected to unwanted digital hauntings from alarmingly accurate AI recreations of those they have lost. The potential psychological effect, particularly at an already difficult time, could be devastating," they reason.</p>

"It's important to prioritise the dignity of the deceased, and ensure that this isn't encroached on by financial motives of digital afterlife services, for example." One potential scenario the researchers propose is the misuse of the "data donor" or the digitally recreated dead loved one, to push products and advertising. "People might develop strong emotional bonds with such simulations, which will make them particularly vulnerable to manipulation," said co-author Dr Tomasz Hollanek. They suggest that deadbots should be retired in a "dignified way". "Methods and even rituals for retiring deadbots in a dignified way should be considered. This may mean a form of digital funeral, for example, or other types of ceremony depending on the social context." "We recommend design protocols that prevent deadbots being utilised in disrespectful ways, such as for advertising or having an active presence on social media," added Hollanek. They also call for age restrictions for users and "meaningful transparency" to ensure users are consistently aware that they are interacting with an AI. <p>The woman, identified as Patricia by media reports, is a 101-year-old born in 1922. However, the American Airlines system apparently cannot compute her 100 plus years of age and defaults the year of birth to 2022.</p>

<p>"It was funny that they thought I was only a little child, and I’m an old lady!" she told a BBC reporter travelling with her on the flight.</p>

<p>The 101-year-old who has some issue with her eyesight revealed that the last time she had to face difficulties as the airport staff did not have transport ready for her inside the terminal and were expecting to carry a baby instead.</p>
