US President Joe Biden on Tuesday (Feb 27) managed to easily win the Democratic presidential primary in Michigan but it was marred by a protest vote by a section of angry Democrat voters against his stance on the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

The swing state of Michigan, home to a large Arab American population, saw the Democratic voters mark their primary ballots as "uncommitted", to protest Biden's support for Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.

According to the Michigan Department of State, selecting ‘uncommitted’ implies that the voter is exercising a party vote, but not committed to the candidates on the ballot. Nearly 60,000 uncommitted votes were counted.

Pentagon has given a clean chit to US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin over his secret hospitalisations related to his cancer diagnosis. In a three-page concluding report released on Monday (Feb 26), the Pentagon said it found no "indication of ill intent or an attempt to obfuscate" by Austin or his staff.

The Pentagon chief had not informed the top government leaders during two separate secret hospitalisation incidents which led to a boiling controversy with opposition leaders demanding his resignation for negligence.

Pentagon in its report accepted that the process followed under which Austin transferred his powers to his deputy could have been improved.

“Although, as hindsight has shown, the process for making decisions to transfer the Secretary’s authority could and should be improved. Nothing examined during this review demonstrated any indication of ill intent or an attempt to obfuscate,” the report added.

The assessment by the Pentagon comes a couple of weeks after Austin was once again hospitalised at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Unlike the previous hospitalisations that were kept secret, deputy defense secretary Kathleen Hicks, Joint Chiefs of Staff, the White House and Congress were notified about Austin's health crisis.

Austin had vanished from the public eye in December and early January this year after suffering complications from treatment for prostate cancer.

Austin, 70, had undergone minor surgery on December 22 after early detection of prostate cancer in routine screening.

After the procedure, Austin recovered without event and returned home the next morning. However, complications soon emerged and evaluation revealed that abdominal fluid collection was impairing the function of his small intestines.

The defense secretary was hospitalised on New Year's Day (Jan 1) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to complications from an elective medical procedure.

Former US president Donald Trump has appealed the $355 million fine imposed on him by a New York court earlier this month. The Republican leader was found guilty of manipulating the values of his properties to obtain favourable court conditions.

According to court documents submitted on Monday (Feb 16), the penalty amount had risen to $454 million after a pre-trial interest of nine per cent per day was charged. Until the full sum is paid, the interest will continue to be levied ($112,000 a day) with New York Attorney General Letitia James claiming that she would seize Trump's properties if he fails to pay the fine.

"President Donald J. Trump, Donald Trump Jr, Eric Trump, Allen Weisselberg... hereby appeal to the Appellate Division," read Monday's appeal.

Trump's attorneys argued whether Judge Arthur Engoron had "committed errors of law and/or fact” and whether he abused his discretion or “acted in excess” of his jurisdiction.

The appeal by the Trump camp means the case with the significant financial jeopardy it brings, will continue well into the presidential campaign as the Republican looks set to win the nomination race.

The judgment

The appeal has been made necessary as the order by Judge Engoron has barred Trump and his sons from conducting business in New York: Trump for three years and his sons for two.

Moreover, Trump is barred from applying for loans from any New York chartered or registered financial institution during this period.

Previously, Trump's legal team had requested a 30-day postponement of enforcement, citing the need for an orderly post-judgment process due to its magnitude. However, Engoron rejected this request.

Former US president Donald Trump emerged victorious in the South Carolina primary on Saturday (Feb 24), defeating Nikki Haley in her home state in the nomination race, according to media projections.

Former US president Donald Trump emerged victorious in the South Carolina primary on Saturday (Feb 24), defeating Nikki Haley in her home state in the nomination race, according to media projections. Seconds after the final ballot was cast, CNN, NBC and other outlets predicted another stinging loss for Haley who is yet to drop out of the nomination race, despite facing defeats in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada previously. Reports showed Trump had garnered as much as 58.5 per cent votes, compared to Haley's 41 per cent in the voting which provides him 29 delegates from the state. "It's an early evening and a fantastic evening. We can celebrate for about 15 minutes and then we have to get back to work," Trump told a room of boisterous supporters after the win. "There's never been a spirit like this. This was a little sooner than we anticipated, and an even bigger win than we anticipated." The Republican leader added that he will be ready on November 5 to look "Joe Biden right in the eye and say, 'Joe, you are fired, get out Joe, you are fired'." Although crowds are expected in massive numbers in the Caribbean, given their rich history in T20Is, this will be the first time the USA will host international matches in bulk – 16 in total, including in Lauderhill, South Florida and Grand Prairie Stadium, near Dallas.

"We had amazing ticket interest. The ballot process showed there's a really big demand," T20 World Cup USA, Inc. chief executive Brett Jones told AFP on Friday.

"India-Pakistan is obviously a game that at every World Cup carries great interest. I think it's really pleasing to see those two countries come to the USA," he added.

Time for cricket’s growth in the USA

Given the dense population of Indians and Pakistanis residing in the USA, the stadium going to be jam-packed for the marquee clash would be an understatement.

However, the organisers have a bigger goal to achieve – to bring the Americans to the stadium to watch cricket and to help this sport grow across the USA for its successful relaunch at the Summer Games in Los Angeles 2028. For that, there is a need for curiosity to rise among the native Americans for this sport.

"I think, number one, we want to celebrate those that are already fanatical lovers of cricket. They deserve to see the best players in the world come into their backyard and have that chance," said Jones.

"So, number one, we want to make sure that happens, and they get to feel like they're close to a game they love. Number two, I think it's about spiking curiosity in the game," he added.

"Obviously, there's a great runway to the Olympics in LA in 28 and then on into Brisbane in 2032 for cricket, which again will keep it in the global view and the consciousness of a big country like the US. I think we've got those two things working for us," Jones concluded.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan are placed in Group A alongside co-host USA, Canada and Ireland.

US President Joe Biden is mulling executive action that would prevent illegal migrants from seeking asylum in the country after they have crossed the southern border, according to US media reports.

US President Joe Biden is mulling executive action that would prevent illegal migrants from seeking asylum in the country after they have crossed the southern border, according to US media reports. The move, reminiscent of his predecessor Donald Trump is expected to invite backlash from the liberal Democrats who have batted for assimilating the migrants for a long time. Biden is expected to cite a law dating back to 1952, known as 212(f) to reduce the intake of migrants. The specific law allows the president to "suspend the entry" of foreigners when their arrival is not in the country's best interest. The Trump administration repeatedly used this law to ban migrants and those travelling from certain countries, predominantly Muslim nations. Under the proposals being discussed at the White House, the ban on migrant entry would only kick in after a certain number of illegal crossings had been made over an unknown period. If approved, the executive action could be announced in the next 14 days, according to a report in CBS News. However, the action might be legally challenged akin to the way Trump's move was blocked by federal courts in 2018. Watch | US: 'Dreamers' left in lurch by Senate Border Bill Bipartisan bill to address migrant issue The $118 billion bipartisan bill passed in the Senate earlier this month had measures to overhaul the immigration policy as well as provide emergency aid for Ukraine, Israel and partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Of the total amount, $20 billion had been earmarked for shoring up the US border areas to prevent illegal migration. Biden justified the contents of the bill, saying it would give him authority to “shut down” the border when it gets overwhelmed. He added the bill made the asylum process “fairer and more efficient” while expediting work permits for those already in the US. However, the Republican-dominated House of Representatives tanked the bill, forcing the Biden administration to look for alternatives. The GOP lawmakers were majorly influenced by Trump who argued that measures in place in the bill to address the illegal migration issue were largely 'insufficient'. Also read | Biden's Homeland security chief Alejandro Mayorkas impeached in Republican-majority House Experts are of the view that Biden is now attempting to change his image on the immigration issue which has tanked his approval ratings. Statistics showed that migrant encounters reached a record high of 302,000 in December last year at the southern border. It was one of the reasons why Biden's Homeland Security chief was impeached by the House. (With inputs from agencies)

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday (Feb 21) announced he was extending his student loan forgiveness programme by cancelling loans of an additional 150,000 Americans worth $1.2 billion.

The announcement is aimed at Biden's vote bank of young voters who cast ballots for him in large numbers during the 2020 presidential election.

"While a college degree is still a ticket to a better life, that ticket is too expensive. And too many Americans are still saddled with unsustainable debt in exchange for a college degree," said Biden.

Despite the high-flying announcement, the debt relief only applies to those enrolled in a specific repayment plan who meet certain requirements.

The loan relief applies to those who enrolled in the voluntary Saving on a Valuable Education (Save) repayment plan and have been regularly making payments for at least 10 years, In addition, those who originally borrowed $12,000 or less for school are only allowed exemption under the scheme.

According to the Department of Education, 7.5 million people are enrolled in the repayment programme, which was created by the Biden administration.

Notably, the debt relief programme was not scheduled to kick into effect until July but the Biden administration last month said it would start ahead of schedule in February. Experts said the loan relief was a way for Biden to resurrect his plummeting approval ratings in the presidential race.

Jaahnavi Kandula's death: The Seattle police officer who killed Jaahnavi Kandula, a 23-year-old Indian student last year, won't be criminally charged, the prosecutors informed on Wednesday (Feb 21). Kandula was struck and killed by a police officer in a South Lake Union crosswalk while responding to an overdose call in January 2023.

“After staffing this case with senior deputy prosecuting attorneys and office leadership, I have determined that we lack sufficient evidence under Washington state law to prove a criminal case beyond a reasonable doubt," said prosecutor Leesa Manion.

According to a memo issued to the Seattle Police Department, the King County prosecutor’s office noted that Officer Kevin Dave, who was driving 119 kph on a street with a 40 kph speed limit in a police SUV, had his emergency lights on. Other pedestrians reported hearing his siren and that Kandula appeared to try to run across the intersection after seeing his vehicle approaching.

It also added that Kandula may have been wearing wireless earbuds that could have diminished her hearing.

“There is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Ofc. Dave was consciously disregarding safety,” read the memo.

Kandula, the 23-year-old student hailed from the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. She was pursuing a master's degree in information systems from the Northeastern University campus in South Lake Union. She went to the US in 2021 on a student exchange programme and was due to get her master's degree in December last year.

It has been reported that Kandula was a daughter to a single mother and wanted to support her after completing her studies.

Officer Daniel Auderer, who is also vice-president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild (SPOG), was assigned to determine whether Officer Dave was under the influence.

A video recorded from Auderer's body-cam released by the Seattle Police Department showed him joking about Kandula's death.

Auderer conducted a routine analysis of whether Dave was under the influence and then called Mike Solan, the president of the police union. The video reportedly shows Auderer's side of the conversation and he can be heard laughing off the accident that caused Kandula's death.

The Alabama Supreme Court has ruled that frozen embryos are 'children' and that someone can be held liable for destroying them, in what is being described as a first-of-its-kind decision in the US. The court was hearing cases brought by three couples who had their frozen embryos destroyed in an accident at a fertility clinic.

Justice Jay Mitchell at the all-Republican court, citing anti-abortion language from the Alabama Constitution, ruled that an 1872 law allowed parents to sue over the death of a minor child which also applied to "unborn children".

“Unborn children are ‘children" without exception based on developmental stage, physical location, or any other ancillary characteristics,” wrote Justice Mitchell in the verdict.

"The Wrongful Death of a Minor Act applies to all unborn children, regardless of their location," he added.

What is the case about?

According to court documents, the plaintiffs in case had undergone IVF treatments that led to the creation of several embryos, some of which were implanted and resulted in healthy births.

The couples had then decided to keep other embryos frozen in a storage facility at the Mobile Infirmary Medical Center. However, in 2020, a patient wandered into the area where the embryos were stored and attempted to remove them. In the process, he dropped them on the floor and "killed" them, according to the ruling.

Ahead of Tuesday's (Feb 20) vote on an Algerian resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the United States on Monday (Feb 19) tabled its own UN Security Council draft resolution on Gaza.

Under the proposal, Washington has batted for a temporary ceasefire and called on Israel not to go ahead with a planned ground offensive in Rafah - the southernmost city in Gaza.

Up until now, the White House has remained averse to using the word ceasefire in any UN action on the Israel-Hamas war. However, the fresh US text echoes the language that President Joe Biden said he used last week in conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Notably, the draft for the Algerian proposal was put forward over two weeks ago but the US has threatened that it would veto the push. Washington is of the view that the text put forth by Algeria could sabotage ongoing “sensitive negotiations” aimed at hammering out a peace deal.

For a resolution to pass, it needs at least nine votes in favour and no vetoes from the US, France, Britain, Russia or China - the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (UNSC).

"We don't know exactly what happened, but there is no doubt that the death of Nalvany was a consequence of something that Putin and his thugs did," Biden said at the white house after russian prison officials said Navalny had died.

The US has intelligence of Russian nuclear capabilities in space which could threaten satellites, a report in the New York Times has claimed. The intel has been briefed to Congress and key US allies with some lawmakers demanding that President Joe Biden's administration declassify the information.

Citing unnamed sources, the report claimed that Russia's potential deployment of a nuclear anti-satellite weapon in space could knock out US military communications and reconnaissance capabilities from above.

The threat becomes even more pertinent as Washington does not have the capability to counter such a weapon and defend its satellites, the report added. The US flirted with the technology but never fully deployed it while Russia has continued to develop its space-based capabilities for decades.

If Russia does indeed deploy the weapon, it might suggest President Vladimir Putin was willing to abandon the Outer Space Treaty of 1967, which bans all orbital nuclear weapons.

Notably, Russia exited the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), a global treaty that bans all physical testing of nuclear warheads, last year. Shortly after the exit, Moscow conducted drills, accessing its capability to stage a nuclear attack in "response to an enemy strike".

American billionaire investor George Soros' son Alex Soros (38) is in a relationship with Huma Abedin (47) - the former vice chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. The two apparent lovebirds hard-launched their relationship by posting a cosy photograph in a Valentine's Day post on social media. The pairing, although delightful, has caught the attention of netizens who are scrutinising the Soros family once again for their deep ties into the political landscape of the USA. Apart from being Clinton's vice campaign manager in 2016, Abedin previously served as the Democrat leader's deputy chief of staff during her tenure as secretary of state from 2009 until 2013. She also worked as Clinton's travelling chief of staff and former assistant during her 2008 presidential campaign. Meanwhile, Alex is taking from where his father left last year. Since being handed over the keys to the $25 billion empire, Alex has assumed control of the Open Society Foundations (OSF) and started meeting top Democratic officials, former President Bill Clinton and even attended meetings with Pope Francis. According to records, he has also visited President Biden's White House at least 20 times. For years, Soros Sr has been one of the biggest donors to the Democrat party, leading to accusations from the Red side of the political divide that the liberal billionaire was pushing his agenda using his money. Thus, the link-up between the aide of a top Democrat leader and the Soros family is being seen through the lens of 'political convenience', experts say. Kansas City Shooting: At least one person was killed while 22 were injured in a shooting incident in Missouri during a parade celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs winning the Super Bowl LVIII, earlier this week, US media reported.

Three suspects have been detained so far for investigation, according to Kansas City Police chief Stacey Graves who described Wednesday's incident as a "tragedy".

“There are a lot more people who are going to be forever impacted by what happened here today," said Graves.

“We were here for a safe celebration and because of two bad actors – that’s why we are standing here today. My heart goes out to our victim who is deceased,” she added.

The victims were transported to several hospitals in the area, with eight suffering "immediately" life-threatening injuries.

"We had eight what we considered immediately life-threatening patients, we had seven with life-threatening injuries, and had six that had minor injuries," Kansas City fire department chief Ross Grundyson told a press conference.

Notably, some 800 law enforcement officers were at the parade where almost 1 million fans were expected to join the celebrations. Video footage of the incident near Union Station showed people chaotically attempting to avoid being caught in the crosshairs of the gunmen.

“The security guard was like, ‘Get over the damn fence right now, there’s a shooter.’ When I was hopping over the barricade, my foot hit [it] and my face nailed the concrete,” Gabe Wallace one of the witnesses was quoted as saying by The Guardian.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's suggestion of a ceasefire in Ukraine to freeze the war was rejected by the United States after contacts between intermediaries, three Russian sources with knowledge of the discussions told Reuters.

Russian President Vladimir Putin's suggestion of a ceasefire in Ukraine to freeze the war was rejected by the United States after contacts between intermediaries, three Russian sources with knowledge of the discussions told Reuters. The failure of Putin's approach ushers in a third year of the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War Two and illustrates just how far apart the world's two largest nuclear powers remain. A US source denied there had been any official contact and said Washington would not engage in talks that did not involve Ukraine. Putin sent signals to Washington in 2023 in public and privately through intermediaries, including through Moscow's Arab partners in the Middle East and others, that he was ready to consider a ceasefire in Ukraine, the Russian sources said. Putin was proposing to freeze the conflict at the current lines and was unwilling to cede any of the Ukrainian territory controlled by Russia, but the signal offered what some in the Kremlin saw as the best path towards peace of some kind. "The contacts with the Americans came to nothing," a senior Russian source with knowledge of the discussions in late 2023 and early 2024 told Reuters on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation. A second Russian source with knowledge of the contacts told Reuters that the Americans told Moscow, via the intermediaries, they would not discuss a possible ceasefire without the participation of Ukraine and so the contacts ended in failure. A third source with knowledge of the discussions said: "Everything fell apart with the Americans." The source said that the Americans did not want to pressure Ukraine. The extent of the contacts - and their failure - has not previously been reported. It comes as US President Joe Biden has for months been pushing Congress to approve more aid for Ukraine, but has faced opposition from allies of Republican presidential nomination frontrunner Donald Trump. The Kremlin, the White House, the US State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) all declined to comment. US says 'no back channel' Putin sent thousands of troops into Ukraine in February 2022, triggering a full-scale war after eight years of conflict in eastern Ukraine between Ukrainian forces on the one side and pro-Russian Ukrainians and Russian proxies on the other. Ukraine says it is fighting for its existence and the West casts Putin's invasion as an imperial-style land grab that challenges the post-Cold War international order. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says he will never accept Russia's control over Ukrainian land. He has outlawed any contacts with Russia. A US official, speaking in Washington on condition of anonymity, said that the US has not engaged in any back-channel discussions with Russia and that Washington had been consistent in not going behind the back of Ukraine. Watch | Russia-Ukraine war: What hope for Ukraine if US military aid dries up? × The US official said that there appeared to have been unofficial "Track II" conversations among Russians not in the government but that the United States was not engaged in them. The US official said Putin's proposal, based on what has been publicly reported, was unchanged from past demands that Russia hold on to Ukrainian territory. The official suggested that there appeared to be frustration in Moscow that Washington had repeatedly refused to accept it. Putin told US talk-show host Tucker Carlson last week that Russia was ready for "dialogue". Contacts Intermediaries met in Turkey in late 2023, according to three Russian sources. A fourth diplomatic source said that there had been Russian-US unofficial contacts through intermediaries at Russia's initiative but that they appeared to have come to nothing. The US official said he was unaware of unofficial contact through intermediaries. According to three Russian sources, Putin's signal was relayed to Washington, where top US officials including White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Central Intelligence Agency Director Bill Burns and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met. The idea was that Sullivan would speak to Putin's foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov, and set out the next steps, one of the Russian sources said. But when the call came in January, Sullivan told Ushakov that Washington was willing to talk about other aspects of the relationship but would not speak about a ceasefire without Ukraine, said one of the Russian sources. The US official refused to be drawn on any details of Sullivan's purported calls, or whether such a conversation with Ushakov took place. Also read | Ukraine needs to come up with new strategies to battle, says new army chief Putin 'ready to fight on' One of the Russian sources expressed frustration with the United States over Washington's insistence that it would not nudge Ukraine towards talks given that the United States was helping to fund the war. "Putin said: 'I knew they wouldn't do anything'," another of the Russian sources said. "They cut off the root of the contacts which had taken two months to create." Another Russian source said that the United States did not appear to believe Putin was sincere. "The Americans didn't believe Putin was genuine about a ceasefire - but he was and is - he is ready to discuss a ceasefire. But equally Putin is also ready to fight on for as long as it takes - and Russia can fight for as long as it takes," the Russian source said. The Kremlin sees little point in further contacts with the United States on the issue, the Russian sources said, so the war would continue.

An infant in the US state of Missouri died on Friday (Feb 9) after her mother mistakenly put her inside an oven for a nap, according to a report by news agency Associated Press.

The accused mother, identified as Mariah Thomas of Kansas City faces "Class A felony of endangering the welfare of a child in the 1st degree, death of a child", a prosecutor informed on Saturday (Feb 10).

The incident took place on Friday afternoon when police officers responded to a report of a month-old child not breathing at a house near 41st Street and Forest Avenue. The first responders, upon reaching the scene, declared the baby dead.

However, detectives said the circumstances around the child’s death were suspicious enough to cause concern and they initiated an investigation.

The first responders had noticed burns on the child and upon pressing Thomas, she said she was putting the child down for a nap but accidentally put her in the oven, instead of the crib.

The statement did not offer an explanation about how that mistake was made. It remains unclear at this stage whether Thomas has an attorney or not.

Last month, a baby was found in a shopping bag, abandoned at the intersection of Greenway and High Street South in Newham, East London. An individual walking their dog spotted the baby and informed the authorities. The infant wrapped in a towel within the bag was then admitted to a hospital where it received treatment. The hospital documents show it took nearly three hours for doctors to be able to record the baby's temperature, as she was extremely cold when she was discovered. The probe is still on to locate the baby's mother. (With inputs from agencies)

What about the child that was shot?

Stollsteimer, as per the report, voiced uncertainty regarding the authenticity of the initial report of a child being shot. He said that it might have been a ploy to lure officers to the house. As per a Philadelphia Inquirer report citing law enforcement sources, the 911 caller and the shooter were likely the same person.

Police have discovered one human torso and a rifle. As per DA Stollsteimer, authorities will likely have to rely on dental records to identify the dead.

Republican politician and US presidential contender Nikki Haley has said India perceives Washington as 'weak', which is one of the reasons why New Delhi has allied with Russia.

Speaking to Fox Business News, the Indian-American presidential aspirant lauded India for 'playing smart' in the current global situation and choosing its allies.

"I have got to say, I have dealt with India too. I have talked with (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi. India wants to be a partner with us. They don't want to be a partner with Russia," said Haley.

"The problem is, India doesn't trust us to win. They don't trust us to lead. They see right now that we're weak," she added.

The former South Carolina governor asserted that it was the military cooperation between the two nations that made it easier for New Delhi to pivot towards Moscow.

"India has always played it smart. They have played it smart, and they have stayed close with Russia because that's where they get a lot of their military equipment," she said in response to a question.

Haley, however, added that all of America's friends would return once it starts leading again. She said the US needed to start building alliances as the 'friends' were going out on their own to fend off the Chinese challenge.

"When we start to lead again, when we start to get the weakness out and stop putting our head in the sand, that's when our friends, India, Australia, New Zealand, all of them will -- and Israel, Japan, South Korea -- all of them want to do that. Japan gave themselves a billion-dollar stimulus to become less dependent on China," Haley said.

At least two police officers sustained bullet wounds while responding to a shooting incident at a residence in East Lansdowne in the US state of Pennsylvania on Wednesday (Feb 7).

At least two police officers sustained bullet wounds while responding to a shooting incident at a residence in East Lansdowne in the US state of Pennsylvania on Wednesday (Feb 7). The officers were responding to a call that an 11-year-old girl had been shot inside the home. Live footage of the scene showed the house engulfed in flames that was spreading rapidly. Meanwhile, the officers who were met with gunfire were reported to be conscious. They were being transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, according to local reports. Notably, the firefighting efforts were severely hampered due to safety concerns as the shooter and the girl were believed to still be inside the burning house. The emergency personnel as well as the SWAT teams arrived at the spot and whisked the neighbours out of harm's way. "I was there, a cop came flying around the corner. He got out and then he's in front of the house talking to two people. And then all of a sudden I heard six or seven gunshots. Cops got down on the ground and I ran and took off," Sharon Johnson, a crossing guard and witness told NBC10. Also read | Who is Jennifer Crumbley?
