<p>The unique feat was achieved by Universe DESI, a union of more than 900 researchers in institutions across the world.&nbsp;</p>

<p>One such researcher was Shadab Alam, the head of the Indian team at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, which also participated in the research. &nbsp;Shadab’s team published their research from the first year of observations by the DESI, which is mounted over the Mayall 4-Meter Telescope in the US.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Talking to WION, Shadab explains that we used to think that galaxies existed in a tightly-knit environment, but the new 3D map showed these galaxies running away from each other, which came as a surprise to the scientists.</p>

<p>“The further they [galaxies] are, the faster they are moving. This came as a big surprise because gravity is an attractive force and so we expected everything to be pulling together, not flying apart,” said Shadab.</p>

<p>The camera will also capture the fleeting events for other scientists on which they can train their telescopes and monitor changes happening in the southern sky.</p>

<p>In an SLAC release, the University of Washington's astrophysicist and director of the Rubin Observatory’s construction Zeljko Ivezic said, "We will soon start producing the greatest movie of all time and the most informative map of the night sky ever assembled."</p>

<p>Using data from Gaia's third release, supplemented by NASA's Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, the team meticulously curated a precise map, expunging contaminants and pinpointing quasar distances with unprecedented accuracy.</p>

<p>Through a process known as sonification, NASA has translated data into sound which gets accompanied by new images of celestial objects observed by the space telescopes of the agency.</p>

<p>Led by Lukas Furtak and Adi Zitrin of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, the scientists also determined the mass of the supermassive black hole to be around 40 million times the mass of our Sun which makes it&nbsp;unexpectedly massive in comparison to the galaxy in which it resides.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We were very excited when JWST started sending its first data. We were scanning the data that arrived for the UNCOVER programme, and three very compact yet red-blooming objects prominently stood out and caught our eyes," said Furtak about when they first stumbled upon the black hole.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The vast amount of radiation around the black hole caused it to take in a small-point-like appearance in JSWT data.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Analysis of the object's colours indicated that it was not a typical star-forming galaxy. This further supported the supermassive blackhole hypothesis," said&nbsp;Rachel Bezanson, the co-lead of the UNCOVER programme.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Together with its compact size, it became evident this was likely a supermassive black hole, although it was still different from other quasars found at those early times."</p>

<p>The data was published by a German consortium named "eROSITA". The X-ray map, released on January 31, has data collected by eROSITA X-ray telescope which is fitted on Spektrum-RG, a Russian-German satellite.</p>

<p>The Max Planck Society in Germany, which helped the mission, said from its official X handle that the eROSITA All-Sky Survey Catalogue (eRASS1) is the largest collection of X-ray sources ever published till now.</p>

Largest-ever X-ray map of the universe shows over 900,000 cosmic sources of high energy

<p>Astronomers have stumbled upon a celestial mystery – the discovery of a colossal ring-shaped cosmic megastructure, named the Big Ring. This mind-boggling find, presented at the 243rd meeting of the American Astronomical Society in New Orleans, defies the conventional knowledge of the universe's structure.</p>

<p>"This discovery challenges our current understanding of the cosmos. From current cosmological theories, we didn't think structures on this scale were possible," said a leading PhD student at the University of Central Lancashire Alexia Lopez.</p>

<p>The Big Ring has a staggering diameter of about 1.3 billion&nbsp;light years. It is more than 9 billion light years away from Earth. Although too faint to be seen directly, its expansive proportions would span the night sky equivalent to 15 full moons.</p>

<p>The findings question the cosmological principle, a fundamental assumption in cosmology which says that there is uniformity in the universe above a certain spatial scale.</p>

<p>"We could expect maybe one exceedingly large structure in all our observable universe," Lopez added.</p>

<p>In a surprising twist, the Big Ring is not alone. It shares cosmic real estate with the Giant Arc, another unexpectedly large structure discovered by Lopez in 2021, spanning an estimated 3.3 billion light years.</p>

<p>Both structures, located near the constellations of Boötes the Herdsman, hint at the possibility of a connected cosmological system.</p>

<p>“We did not set out to look for evidence of a late-time suppression specifically,” said Nguyen in an email to Motherboard. “Our original intention was to see whether the history of the cosmic background expansion is consistent with the history of cosmic structure growth.”</p>

When was the universe's first continent formed? Scientist offers clues

<p>The launch of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has helped scientists unravel the myriad mysteries of the universe. Astronomers have been able&nbsp;to witness some of the rare cosmological events that shape the understanding of the cosmos.</p>

<p>Now, thanks to JWST, astronomers have been able to establish one of the earlier galaxies known in the universe.</p>

<p>Called the Maisie's Galaxy, it is said to have formed about 390 million years after the Big Bang. For reference, the universe as a whole is about 13.77 billion years old.</p>

<p>Maisie’s Galaxy was named after the daughter of the project’s principal investigator, Steven Finkelstein, an astronomer at the University of Texas at Austin.</p>

<p>The image was first taken in June 2022 as part of the Cosmic Evolution Early Release Science Survey (CEERS), and it was recently confirmed that the galaxy that was detected last summer is in fact among the earliest ever found.</p>

<p>“The exciting thing about Maisie's galaxy is that it was one of the first distant galaxies identified by JWST, and of that set, it's the first to actually be spectroscopically confirmed," Steven Finkelstein said.</p>

<p>It is touted to be one of the four earliest confirmed galaxies observed.</p>

<p>The latest analysis was led by Pablo Arrabal Haro, a postdoctoral research associate at the National Science Foundation's National Optical-Infrared Astronomy Research Laboratory.</p>

<h2><strong>Astronomers&nbsp;evaluating 10 other galaxies </strong></h2>

<p>The CEERS team is currently evaluating about 10 other galaxies that might be from an era even earlier than Maisie's.</p>

<p>It is not easy to determine the timeframe of galaxies in the early universe as it is expanding at an accelerating rate.</p>

<p>Most objects that are outside of our galaxy appear to be receding and take&nbsp;a bit of time to figure out.</p>

<p>Hence to calculate&nbsp;how old it is, astronomers&nbsp;measure its redshift—the amount that its colour has been shifted due to its motion away from us.</p>

<p>On Wednesday night (July 26),&nbsp;three former US military officials said they believe the government knows much more about UFOs, officially known as unidentified aerial phenomena or UAPs,&nbsp;and aliens than it was letting on during a remarkable Congressional hearing. The otherwise divided Congress looked seemingly in unison over the potential discovery of alien life, UFOs and everything in between.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Our universe is ever-expanding and houses trillions of galaxies, stars and planets which makes one believe that we, humans, might not be alone on this pale blue dot that we often refer to as Earth. Renowned astrophysicist and TV personality Carl Sagan once famously said that the universe is a "pretty big place" and it would seem like an "awful waste of space if it was only us in it".</p>

<p>Naturally, a significant portion of the planet believes that we may have been contacted by extraterrestrial beings because it certainly appears mathematically probable. Now, some chilling, otherworldly revelations have been made during the&nbsp;House Oversight subcommittee hearing on UFOs that solidify this theory.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>US government knows the truth?</strong></h2>

<p>David Grusch, a former US intelligence official, has become an overnight internet sensation after he claimed in his testimony that there was absolute certainty that the federal government remains in possession of UAPs. Grusch cited interviews he had conducted with over 40 witnesses over a four-year long period as the basis of his claims.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Under oath, Grusch disclosed that he had been informed of a long-standing UAP crash retrieval and reverse-engineering programme during his official duties, from which he was denied access</p>

<p>Asked by one of the committee members,&nbsp;how such a programme was&nbsp;funded, Grusch claimed that the effort is "above congressional oversight" and bankrolled by a "misappropriation of funds."</p>

<p>Grusch said he had "specific knowledge" of money going into the alien exploration programme when it was meant for another scheme. However, he could not give the specifics due to the information being classified.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>When asked if there were bodies of pilots piloting these craft, he confirmed the existence of "biologics" that were non-human, based on information from individuals with direct knowledge of the programme.</p>

<p>During the hearing, Congressman Tim Burchett bluntly asked if the military officer had any personal knowledge of people who had been injured in efforts to cover up for the existence of extraterrestrial beings. To&nbsp;which Grusch replied: "Yes."</p>

<p>“I directed people with that knowledge to the appropriate authorities," he added on being quizzed if he heard of anyone being murdered.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Besides, other witnesses,&nbsp;David Fravor, a former Navy commander, and&nbsp;Ryan Graves, a retired Navy pilot, also made similar claims.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Fravor recalled seeing a strange object in the sky while on a training mission in 2004, while Graves, who has founded&nbsp;Americans for Safe Aerospace, a UAP non-profit, said he saw UAP off the Atlantic coast&nbsp;“every day for at least a couple years”.</p>

<p>The hearing on Wednesday was not the first time that evidence has pointed towards the existence of non-human life.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In May 2022, Ronald Moultrie and Scott Bray, two top officials of the Pentagon appeared before the subcommittee and showed the declassified UFO videos.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They said that reports of UFOs are 'frequent' and have been on the rise for more than a decade. They also added that US officials were unable to explain some of these sightings.</p>

<p>“The release of this information will harm national security as it may provide adversaries valuable information regarding Department of Defense/Navy operations, vulnerabilities, and/or capabilities. No portions of the videos can be segregated for release,” said Gregory Cason, deputy director of the Navy's FOIA office.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>So what do we know?</strong></h2>

<p>Despite the US government's unwillingness, a pandora's box of questions, assertions and conspiracies has opened up after the meeting.</p>

<p>While UAPs are certainly a yardstick to gauge if alien life exists out there, space agencies such as NASA are on the lookout for exoplanets to find other life forms. Currently, there are around 4,000 exoplanets in our galaxy alone which makes the quest all the more exciting.&nbsp;</p>

However, he could not give the specifics due to the information being classified. When asked if there were bodies of pilots piloting these craft, he confirmed the existence of "biologics" that were non-human, based on information from individuals with direct knowledge of the programme. Besides, other witnesses, David Fravor, a former Navy commander, and Ryan Graves, a retired Navy pilot, also made similar claims. Humans can chart its presence with the help of gravitational effects like when a massive galaxy passes from the front of a distant star and the light gets magnified.<br />

Dark stars can be fuelled by dark matter's particles just like "normal" matter power the "normal" stars like our sun. According to researchers, if the dark stars actually exist they may be the key to understanding how the universe got its light.</p>

<p>For 15 years, scientists have been speculating that "dark stars" were among the first things ever produced by our universe, when it was only 700 million years old.<br />

The observations of James Webb suggest that the three distant objects, which existed in the earliest phase of the universe, match the key requirements of dark stars. The spotted objects are luminous, but too cool for fusion to take place, the paper stated in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.</p>
