England skipper Ben Stokes has officially been ruled out of the upcoming first Test against Pakistan in Multan. Stokes is still recovering from a hamstring injury which he had suffered in the Hundred tournament. The first Test begins on Monday (Oct 7).

Stokes had also not played the three-Test home series against Sri Lanka which England won 2-1 under Ollie Pope's captaincy. With the all-rounder out of the picture at least for the first game of the series, Pope will be leading England in fourth successive Test.

England are in Pakistan for a three-Test series and even if Stokes becomes fit for the second Test, he'll most probably be playing as a specialist batter only.

There was no rain on third day but the start of play was delayed due to wet outfield. The umpires made an inspection at 10 am local time and deemed the ground condition unfit to play. After the final inspection at 2 pm, the umpires called it a day without play for the second time in two days.

Bangladesh scored 107/3 in 35 overs on day 1 with pacer Akash Deep taking two of those wickets and spinner Rai Ashwin taking the third one - his 420th wicket in Asia.

Both the teams read the pitch differently as suggested by their playing XI selection. India are unchanged from the first Test in Chennai where they played three pacers in Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep.&nbsp;

Bangladesh, on the other hand, are playing three spinners in the second Test as opposed to two in the first Test.

The two-match series, however, is 1-0 in favour of India after they won the Chennai Test by 280 runs in nearly three and a half days.

With only two more days left in the Tests, a draw seems the most plausible outcome, giving India a series win.
