Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a prominent Indian IT services company, has announced a major partnership with the National Employment Savings Trust (Nest), the largest workplace pension scheme in the UK. Valued at £840 million ($1 billion), the agreement cited by Moneycontrol allows TCS to digitally transform Nest's administration services for improved user experience.

The partnership between TCS and Nest follows the cancellation of Nest's previous contract with Atos, a French IT services firm. This unexpected turn of events, occurring just two years into a potential 18-year tenure, may lead to as many as 1,000 jobs being lost at&nbsp;Atos&nbsp;in both the UK and India. As a result, Nest sought a new strategic partner to ensure the seamless continuation of its services, ultimately selecting TCS as the ideal candidate.

This £840 million agreement is the fourth significant deal TCS has secured in the UK in 2023 alone. Previous achievements include a £723-million contract with insurer Phoenix Group, a partnership with retail giant Marks &amp; Spencer, and a 10-year agreement with the Teacher's Pension Scheme in England &amp; Wales. Despite the challenging macro environment in the region, TCS has emerged as a frontrunner, solidifying its position as the leading provider of software and IT services in the UK.

Since its launch in 2011, Nest and TCS have enjoyed a close working relationship. Nest, a digital auto-enrolment pension scheme, currently boasts over 12 million members and aims to manage approximately £100 billion in assets by the end of the next decade. TCS's extended partnership with Nest will see the deployment of TCS BaNCS solutions, allowing members and employers to access timely and relevant information through personalized and self-directed channels.

As per CNBC reports, Google now plans to track employees' attendance and movement within the office, which might be factored in during performance reviews. As expected, the move is not going well with staffers. A few employees even told the publication that the company is treating staffers like "schoolchildren." An internal document obtained by CNBC draws attention to the attendance-tracking measure instated to help managers track "who hasn't been in the office frequently enough". Additionally, Google employees who previously received approval for remote operations will now have that status reevaluated. The CNBC report cites a Google spokesperson who noted the badge data collected is aggregated for company leaders. The spokesperson adds, "Now that we've fully transitioned to the hybrid work week, company leaders can see reports showing how their teams are adopting the hybrid work model." Google clarified that the company does not share or include individual badge data in its internal reports. The spokesperson also said the company was "limiting remote work to exception only." The report suggests that Google wants to make optimum use of its expansive offices, at least the ones in the US. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Google was known for its various on-campus perks for employees, including massages, yoga classes, and laundry services. However, several employee benefits were scrapped to cut down expenses amid macroeconomic tribulations Many Google workers also want to continue working remotely owing to the cost involved in relocation. Chris Schmidt, a Software engineer at Google and a member of the Alphabet Workers Union-CWA, questions Google's strict hybrid work policy as there are not enough desks for workers. Schmidt told CNBC, "New York City workers do not even have enough desks and conference rooms for workers to use comfortably." The report points out that Google’s process of providing lockers to let employees store personal items overnight is underway. Google suggests that its hybrid work has been in place for a year, and changes are bound to happen. But the ministry said the new rules would govern all students arriving from outside the European Union, not just Chinese.

The Dutch intelligence agency AIVD in April warned that Dutch universities are an "attractive target" for spying and that China is the largest threat.

Dutch universities have already begun rejecting Chinese students that receive a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council.

Education Minister Robbert Dijkgraaf, a former director of Princeton University's Institute for Advanced Studies, in April told parliament he was undertaking a review of which university programs have received foreign funding.

In 2022, he set up an "information centre" for universities to help vet foreign academic partnerships.

Last week the Dutch government introduced a security review for would-be foreign investors in the country that might pose a threat to national security interests.

The Dutch government in March said it would adopt stricter export rules for semiconductor technology, leading ASML Holding NV to say it will likely soon need a licence in order to export its second-most-advanced tools to China. Its most advanced tools are already barred.

The number of foreign students in the Netherlands has been growing in recent years, sparking disagreement over whether the Dutch language should be mandatory in classes.

But proportionately fewer Chinese students have come since 2012 and China has fallen from second to fifth on the list of most common foreign country of origin, according to nonprofit Nuffic, which promotes international educational cooperation at Dutch universities.

M&amp;A Research Institute, a company that matches Japanese business owners with successors using AI, has more than tripled its opening price since its debut on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in June 2022.

This year alone, the stock has risen 47 per cent. &nbsp;

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Shunsaku Sagami, a 32-year-old entrepreneur with a 72 per cent&nbsp;stake in the company, is worth $950 million as of May 16.

M&amp;A Research Institute, founded in 2018, aims to assist ageing owners of small and medium-sized enterprises who are forced to close their doors because no one is available to take over. In April, the business stated that 620,000 profitable enterprises in Japan face collapse owing to a shortage of successors.

In a recent interview, Sagami told Bloomberg that he was inspired to launch this firm by his grandpa, who was forced to close his real estate office in the 1980s after he retired due to a lack of a successor, reported the Business Insider.&nbsp;

"In his office, there was a license for real estate agents framed up on the wall," Sagami told Bloomberg. "Seeing that taken down and thrown away was sad," he added.&nbsp;

According to its website, the business can conclude M&amp;A agreements in 49 days to six months using AI and proprietary data. As per&nbsp;the Tokyo-based company, these transactions often take more than a year from request to completion.

Until a transaction is completed, M&amp;A Research Institute does not charge any fees. It charges fees of up to 5 per cent&nbsp;for a successful closing.

Other M&amp;A consultants charge retainer fees in the tens of millions of yen — even if the deal never closes, according to M&amp;A Research Institute's website.

The company claimed it concluded 62 agreements in the six months to March 2023, more than double the 26 it closed in the same time last year.

The M&amp;A brokerage is not Sagami's first enterprise. According to Bloomberg, he graduated from Kobe University with degrees in biology and agriculture and worked as a designer, software developer, and marketing officer before striking out on his own.

In 2017, he sold Alpaca, a women's fashion and beauty brand he started, to a Japanese public relations firm.

As reported by Bloomberg, Sagami found the deal process sluggish, so he built up a system with an AI algorithm to ease the flow of the company.&nbsp;

On Tuesday, M&amp;A Research Institute's stock closed&nbsp;0.4 per cent&nbsp;lower at 9,270 Japanese yen.
