All the future devices and creatures in "Cyberpunk: Peach John" were meticulously created using Midjourney, a popular AI programme that has rocked the art world, along with other tools like Stable Diffusion and DALL-E 2.

The artwork, which is the first totally AI-drawn manga in Japan, has sparked concerns about the potential danger that technology may pose to jobs and copyright in the country's multibillion-dollar comic book industry.

A skilled artist would have needed a year to write the more than 100-page comic, but the author, who goes by the pen name Rootport, finished it in just six weeks.

The best photos were then arranged in comic book fashion to create the book, which has already generated attention online ahead of its release by Shinchosha, a significant publishing firm, on March 9.

His work is fully coloured, unlike conventional black-and-white manga, even if the same character's face might occasionally take on noticeably distinct appearances.

Nonetheless, the author noted that AI image generators "opened the door for those without the creative aptitude to make advances" into the manga industry, provided they had interesting tales to tell.

When his written instructions, which he refers to as "magic spells," produced an image that matched what he had envisaged, Rootport claimed to have had a sense of fulfilment.

Although experts suggest copyright violations are rare if AI art is created using basic text instructions and minimal human creativity, some Japanese lawmakers have expressed worries about artists' rights.

Others have cautioned that the technology would oust younger manga artists, who painstakingly paint background graphics for each scene, from their professions.

Greg Isenberg, the CEO, tweeted about the event and said ChatGPT helped him recover a&nbsp;payment from a client totaling US$&nbsp;109,500 (about Rs 90 lakh).

“Imagine a multi-billion dollar client who refused to pay you for good work rendered. Most people would turn to lawyers. I turned to ChatGPT. Here's the story of how I recovered $109,500 without spending a dime on legal fees,” Isenberg wrote on Twitter.

In keeping with his account, he stated that his business handled some design work for a brand last year that was well-received. The customer continued requesting more work, and the business kept exceeding expectations. When it was time for payment, the brand, however, stopped communicating. The CEO said that they had never had a customer skip out on payments and that this had caused the morale of the entire workforce to suffer. Then it was his turn to intervene.

"Instead of sending another email that might fall on deaf ears or hiring an expensive lawyer to initiate debt collections, I had an idea. What if ChatGPT could draft a bit more of a scary email to draw attention? At the very least, I'd learn something. The cost of ChatGPT: USD 0. The cost of our lawyer to send this notice: USD 1,000. So, we asked ChatGPT to pretend to draft “a scary collection email” so we can recover the USD 109,500 owed to us," Isenberg added.

He then revealed the prompt he used and the email text that ChatGPT had created, adding that he had forwarded the same to the customer after making a few small adjustments. To his astonishment, the customer reacted to the correspondence quickly and stated, 'let's get you guys paid'.

The prompt used by the CEO was, “Pretend you work in the finance department and your job is to collect payments from clients. Draft a scary email that gets XYZ client to pay for USD 109,500 of services rendered but hasn't responded to 5 emails. Their invoices are 5 months overdue.”

A Google senior manager recently fired as part of the tech giant's cost-cutting measure seeks to start his own business within six weeks. Six other former Google employees who were also let go similarly are helping to support the man, Henry Kirk.

One of the 12,000 employees let go by Google was Kirk, who spent eight years working there.

Kirk now targets to build his own design and development studio in New York and San Francisco in six weeks, along with his team.

Why six weeks? Because Krik wants to set up the new company before Google's 60-day layoff notice window ends.

Kirk said in a LinkedIn post narrating his story, "I have 52 days left. I need your help."

"Today, I'm taking a leap forward and turning this tragedy into an opportunity. I'm teaming up with 6 outstanding #xooglers to shape and own our futures. But there's one catch…my partners and their families have given me just 52 days to get this going and land projects, or we must go back to job searching. I am determined not to fail, so I need your assistance," he wrote in a LinkedIn post

The partnership seeks to build cutting-edge ESD device solutions to protect ultra-high-speed serial interfaces in advanced Integrated Circuits (ICs) and system-on-chip (SoC) products. An integrated circuit refers to a circuit compressed into a small-sized chip, whereas a system-on-chip has computer-like capabilities and can run an operating system.&nbsp;The related research will be carried out by Professor&nbsp;Mayank Shrivastava’s group at the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (DESE), IISc. Solutions arising from this research will be deployed in Samsung’s advanced process nodes, said the company.&nbsp;

The research agreement was exchanged by Balajee Sowrirajan, CVP &amp; MD at Samsung Semiconductor India Research, Bengaluru, and Prof Govindan Rangarajan, Director, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), in the presence of delegates from Samsung and IISc. "Our goal is also to increase capacity building through training programmes at the postgraduate level, opening up opportunities for students to pursue industry internships, and encourage entrepreneurial ventures by young researchers,"&nbsp;said Balajee Sowrirajan, CVP &amp; MD, SSIR.

ICs and SoCs are essential for any electronic system, large or small. However,&nbsp;they are very susceptible to ESD failures, especially those developed using advanced nanoscale CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) technologies. The majority of IC chip failures and field returns are attributed to ESD failures. This is also rare expertise and industries holding the art of designing ESD protection devices and interface concepts lead the market. Thus, R&amp;D in ESD technology for highly reliable interfaces and SoCs that operate at low power and high speed is an integral part of the semiconductor innovation effort. IISc is one of the few institutes in the world leading ESD device research.

"We have been collaborating extensively with semiconductor industries worldwide on advanced nanoelectronics technologies, including solutions to ESD reliability threats to advanced SoCs. We have carried out both fundamental and applied research on ESD protection devices, with a strong emphasis on creating practical solutions for the semiconductor industry in a range of technology nodes,” said Mayank, who heads the MSDLab, and will be leading this collaborative effort.

Samsung Semiconductor India Research, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, is the technology hub enabling innovative growth in both hardware development as well as software-powered solutions in semiconductor technologies.

Industry leaders gung-ho about tech sector growth in 2023

As part of a 10-year business contract to move the London Stock Exchange Group's data infrastructure into the cloud, Microsoft will purchase a four per cent equity stake in the exchange operator as announced on Monday. As a requirement of the agreement, LSEG has committed to spending a minimum of $2.8 billion with Microsoft on cloud-related services throughout the partnership's duration.

The digital migration of LSEG's technological infrastructure and Refinitiv platforms onto the Microsoft Cloud, according to Microsoft, will constitute the cornerstone of the relationship.

“The initial focus will be on delivering interoperability between LSEG Workspace and Microsoft Teams, Excel and PowerPoint with other Microsoft applications and a new version of LSEG’s Workspace,” the U.S. company said. LSEG shares were up four&nbsp;per cent&nbsp;in early trade.

Refinitiv was acquired by LSEG for $27 billion from a Blackstone and Thomson Reuters consortium, making the exchange the second-largest provider of financial data behind Bloomberg LP.

Since the conclusion of its acquisition of Refinitiv in January 2021, LSEG has made "excellent progress" on its programme for the delivery of its cloud-based data platform, according to a statement.

The exchange operator announced that Microsoft will purchase LSEG shares from the Blackstone/Thomson Reuters Consortium.

Following the Refinitiv transaction, Thomson Reuters, which owns Reuters News, has a tiny ownership interest in LSEG.

The closing of Microsoft's acquisition is anticipated for the first quarter of 2023.

The worst part is even then your accounts aren't really safe. The year 2022 saw an exponential rise in the number of hacking and data pishing incidents.

As per reports, over 15 billion credentials have been exposed to the dark web, and about 54 per cent of these led to credential theft. Passwords just aren't cutting it anymore.

This has led to a number of platforms, and service providers moving towards passwordless authentication. Now Google chrome has joined the foray.

In March of this year, Microsoft, Okta, LastPass and Google announced that they were moving towards easy passwordless logins as part of the FIDO alliance.&nbsp;

With Google Chrome's new passwordless feature users will now be able to create passkeys to log into their android devices.

As per Venture Beat the "move toward passwordless authentication is a recognition of password-based security’s fundamental ineffectiveness."

Google in its announcement blog said that passkeys are a significantly safer replacement for passwords and other phishable authentication factors.&nbsp;

"They cannot be reused, don't leak in server breaches, and protect users from phishing attacks. Passkeys are built on industry standards and work across different operating systems and browser ecosystems, and can be used for both websites and apps," it added.

Trouble is looming large on Apple and Google as British competition watchdog, following a survey into the mobile ecosystems, launched a probe Tuesday to investigate whether these tech giants follow anti-competitive behaviour. With this, it is reportedly possible that both the tech giants could loose&nbsp;their stronghold in the mobile space.&nbsp;

The British watchdog, Competition and Markets Authority, made this decision after concluding the findings of a 356-page report into competition for mobile operating systems and apps. In a scathing attack on the tech giants, the report said that the duo “hold all the cards” in mobile ecosystems. CMA said that this helps Apple and Google to exercise a "stranglehold" over operating systems, app stores and web browsers, said a report in Politico.&nbsp;

According to CMA research, Apple's Safari or Google's Chrome-powered mobile browsers accounted for 97 per cent of all UK mobile web surfing in 2021. The CMA study's respondents also emphasised how Apple limits cloud gaming through its App Store.

Sarah Cardell, interim chief executive of the CMA, said Tuesday that many UK businesses and web developers say they feel that they are being held back by restrictions set by Apple and Google. “We plan to investigate whether the concerns we have heard are justified and, if so, identify steps to improve competition," she added.&nbsp;

What after the investigation concludes?&nbsp;

The in-depth market investigation is required to be finished within 18 months by CMA. In case, the study makes a conclusion that there is an involvement of anti-competitive behaviour in the market, CMA can impose remedies on firms and make recommendations to the government on regulation, reported Politico.

He said that it will be done before May next year with the help of Digital Markets Competition and Consumers Bill. The watchdog CMA’s Cardell said that the new protocols will address “sorts of issues” raised in Apple and Google’s dominance over mobile ecosystems. As per media reports, these new regulatory powers could be received by CMA’s Digital Markets Unit as early as October next year.&nbsp;
