The former Miss India Universe 2004 took to her Instagram handle and captioned her post, “How big a liar Nana Patekar is the whole world knows now after the Varanasi boy slapping incident. Nana first tried to made it look like to slap the kid was part of shoot & then he got severe public backlash for trying to cover up his abuse. Then he suddenly took a u turn & apologised half heartedly. Why take 6 years to respond to #metoo?? Il tell u why...because he knows dat I may be contemplating another FIR on Nana for conspiracy to murder, criminal intimidation & threat, stalking and cause physical harm. I went through severe harassment from unknown groups of people last few years. I was followed & stalked by strangers wherever I went. Freak Accidents and several attempts to poison me with various substances ensued relentlessly. <p>Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta, who is associated with kickstarting the MeToo movement in the Hindi film industry, has once again attacked veteran Bollywood and Marathi actor Nana Patekar. Taking to her social media account, Dutta said if anything happens to her, then Nana, his legal team and associates, and his "Bollywood Mafia friends" will be responsible for that. The actress, sharing a picture of herself on Instagram, on Friday wrote a lengthy post and urged her followers to boycott Bollywood movies completely.</p>

<p>She captioned the post: "If anything ever happens to me let it be known that #metoo accused Nana Patekar, his lawyers &amp;&nbsp;associates and his Bollywood Mafia friends are responsible! Who are Bollywood Mafia?? Same people all whose names came up frequently in SSR death case. ( note that all have same criminal lawyer)."</p>

<p>"Do not watch their movies, boycott them totally &amp; go after them with a vicious vengeance. Go after all the industry faces &amp; journalists who planted fake news about me and PR people too behind the vicious smear campaigns. Go after everyone!! <p>Former Miss India and Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta has spoken out yet again about being harassed by #metoo perpetrators. Taking to her Instagram account, Dutta said that she is being ‘targeted very badly’ and went on to describe her painful experiences. In the post, she claimed that the Bollywood mafia and some political circles attempted to poison her and sabotaged several of her works.</p>

<p>Back in 2018, Tanushree stirred headlines by making severe allegations against some high-profile and famous Bollywood celebrities when the Me Too movement picked up speed in the Indian film industry.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Without naming anyone, Dutta shared a few horrifying encounters she had in recent times and also asked for help in the post. The actor also said that artists are being troubled in Maharashtra and that the state has become unsafe for people. "The Bollywood Mafia, the old political circuit of Maharashtra (which still has influence here) and nefarious anti – national criminal elements together usually operate like this to trouble people. I’m very sure the #metoo culprits &amp; the NGO who I exposed are behind all this because why else would I be targeted &amp; harassed like this??" She wrote in her post.&nbsp;</p>

She also claimed that he tried to get close to her and alleged that Patekar made political goons&nbsp;threaten her when she refused to do a particular dance sequence with him. She also alleged that choreographer Ganesh Acharya and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri subjected her to mental and physical harassment.&nbsp;</p>

Taking to her Instagram account, Dutta said that she is being ‘targeted very badly’ and went on to describe her painful experiences. In the post, she claimed that the Bollywood mafia and some political circles attempted to poison her and sabotaged several of her works. Back in 2018, Tanushree stirred headlines by making severe allegations against some high-profile and famous Bollywood celebrities when the Me Too movement picked up speed in the Indian film industry. Without naming anyone, Dutta shared a few horrifying encounters she had in recent times and also asked for help in the post. The actor also said that artists are being troubled in Maharashtra and that the state has become unsafe for people. "The Bollywood Mafia, the old political circuit of Maharashtra (which still has influence here) and nefarious anti – national criminal elements together usually operate like this to trouble people. I’m very sure the #metoo culprits & the NGO who I exposed are behind all this because why else would I be targeted & harassed like this??" She wrote in her post. She also alleged that choreographer Ganesh Acharya and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri subjected her to mental and physical harassment. Dutta was crowned Miss India at the age of 20 and, after the pageant, she made her Bollywood debut in ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ (2005) opposite Emraan Hashmi and Sonu Sood. <p>In a lengthy Instagram post, Tanushree Dutta revealed that she is “in touch with three big south film managers who are pitching me for big budget south projects as well as 12 casting offices in Mumbai.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Some old news doing the rounds that I’m doing an IT job in LA. I was infact training for in IT and had a fantastic IT job opportunity in the defence sector of the US Government. It was a very prestigious job opportunity as I have always had the discipline, integrity and determination of an army person so to work in this field in whatever capacity would have been an honour. But I didn’t take it as I wanted to explore my artistic career again. The defence job based out of Nevada would eventually after the Pandemic would need me to shift out of LA/ NY and I would not be permitted to leave the US for 3 years. I would also have to sign a job contract for 3 years coz such national defence related US jobs usually have very high security clearance and permissions so they cannot have people in and out of employment. Since I’m an artist at heart who just happened to lose my way away from my craft due to some very very bad human beings and the trouble they caused me, i decided to not be hasty in changing my profession and re-consider what options I have in Bollywood. I have a lot of goodwill in Bollywood and Mumbai so I came back to India and will stay here for sometime and will work on some interesting projects. I have been getting some offers from Bollywood in terms of movies and web series and the Industry seems far more interested in casting me rather than my arch- enemies. (they only announce projects but none of their projects ever see the light of day &amp; will not). At present I’m in touch with 3 big South film managers who are pitching me for Big budget south Projects as well as 12 Casting offices in Mumbai.”</p>

There are also big production houses I’m talking to for projects in lead roles. The pandemic has just made shooting dates uncertain so I’m unable to make a concrete announcement. I’m looking good, getting back my sass as I’ve lost 15 kgs and there is a strong buzz amongst industry folks of my imminent return to acting!”</p>

Aamir, who had initially stepped out of the film citing 'zero-tolerance for sexual harassment and predatory behaviour', on Monday announced he had decided to join back the team and work with Kapoor. <p>Aamir Khan specified that the sexual misconduct allegations by Geetika Tyagi are currently in court and "...until such time that the courts reach a conclusion, is it that he/she should not be allowed to work? Is he to just sit at home and not earn?"<br />

Speaking to a daily, Dutta said, "How come nobody in Bollywood has sleepless nights when a woman becomes a victim of abuse and is not able to work due to the trauma and ostracisation... If he has agreed to hire this guy, why not hire the woman who suffered the consequences of his actions? Why do only the creepy men of Bollywood get compassion? Let the girls also see some of that saintly do-goodery."<br />

"Compassion should be universal. If it's so selective as is being displayed by the Bollywood's bigwigs, then it's not compassion. It's convenience and ignorance. Nobody bothered to ask me how I was doing when my livelihood was snatched away after the 'Horn Ok Pleassss' harassment episode. No compassion for me, Aamir?" she further added. &nbsp;Dutta had accused actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on the sets of 'Horn OK Pleassss' in 2008. In September last year, as Dutta again spoke about the incident it heralded the #MeToo movement in India. <p>The actor believes that altering and empowering the patriarchal society will create a hurdle in the future for women who will be afraid to raise their voices against any wrong done to them.</p>

<p>Elucidating further on the statement, she said,&nbsp;"Under such circumstances empowering the already skewed patriarchy and corrupt male-dominated society could spell trouble and disaster in the future for whistleblowers, journalists, social workers, and female complainants. What I'm trying to say that if this movement persists then any woman who raises her voice or files complaint against bullying, intimidation, harassment, rape or gangrape and does not have enough proof as 99 percent of these crimes happen in private or witnesses back out due to lengthy and exhausting trials or intimidation, these victims could potentially become targets of these men's organizations and groups."</p>

<p>She further added, "Instead of making movements and public protests protecting men who may or may not be innocent at all laws need to be reviewed and formatted so correct and proper justice is done.#metoo was a movement aimed at social cleansing by public disclosure in cases where legal justice is exhausting, difficult or impossible but #Mentoo can put doubt on any woman putting forth a complaint!!"</p>

As soon as the trailer of the film came out, there was a<a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/metoo-accused-alok-nath-makes-a-comeback-in-de-de-pyaar-de-ajay-devgn-has-this-to-say-207531"> huge hue and cry around it. </a>Tanushree bashed Ajay for still working with Alok Nath and wrote, "Overrated actors and human beings who have created clout by clever PR machinery and careful manipulation of public sentiments, old stuffy morons who can't tell the difference between what's right and wrong and what is the need of the hour!"</p>

<p>As this made news, Ajay issued an official statement on the whole matter. He said, "When the entire #MeToo Movement happened, I along with many of my film industry colleagues categorically expressed that I respect every single woman at the workplace and I would not stand for any unfairness or atrocity against them. &nbsp;Nothing about my stand has changed.</p>

<p>“Coming to the question of having worked with Mr Alok Nath in my upcoming film De De Pyar De, here I must put certain things in perspective.</p>

<p>“This film was supposed to be an October 2018 release. The shoot of the film got over by last September. The portions with Mr Alok Nath were canned by August in Manali. The said portions were shot over 40 days across various sets and an outdoor location with a combination of over 10 actors. By the time the allegations came out (in October 2018) the actors in the film including me had already started work on other films. &nbsp;It would be near impossible to get all the dates and combinations of the several actors in the film and attempt a re-shoot with some other actor replacing Mr Nath. It would also have been a huge monetary loss for the producers. &nbsp;Everyone is aware that filmmaking is a collaborative process. The decision to replace Mr Alok Nath could never have been mine alone. In this case, I would have to go with the joint-decision of the entire unit. &nbsp;Not to forget, I could not have brought the entire combination of actors back or put up sets again for a 40-day re-shoot because this would mean doubling the budget, which again wasn't my call to make. &nbsp;It would have to be the call of the makers. Had circumstances played out even slightly differently, I would have pushed for a different combination of actors. Unfortunately, this was not to be.''</p>

<p>He further added, “I reiterate I am extremely sensitive to the #MeToo movement. But when circumstances are beyond me, I don't see why an attempt is being made to `single' me out as being insensitive. This is untrue."</p>

Tanushree Dutta visits Harvard Business School as a guest speaker

<p>When American actress Alysa Milano urged women across the world to speak up against sexual violence in 2017, the #MeToo hashtag became viral almost instantly. Milano tweeted, "If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet," and scores of women across the world shared personal experiences on social media leading to the beginning of global #MeToo movement. One of the first names to have come out in the movement was Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein as multiple women accused him of rape, sexual harassment, and misconduct.&nbsp;These women also included prominent names from the cinema including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Anniston, Angelina Jolie and others.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Soon enough, the movement caught everyone's attention in other countries. While France, Israel, Canada, Italy were the first few countries to join America in the movement, closer home in India, the movement took nearly 8 months to gain momentum. There were, of course, the initial reports that were reported on social media but it was only when former Miss India and actress Tanushree Dutta <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/tanushree-dutta-accuses-nana-patekar-harassing-her-set-10-years-ago-167771">accused Nana Patekar of sexual misconduct on a film set in 2008, did the movement</a> get its much-needed boost in India. In an interview to a news channel, Tanushree recalled how Patekar <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/watch-footage-attack-tanushree-duttas-car-sets-hork-ok-pleassss-goes-viral-168700">had sexually harassed her on the sets of 'Horn Ok </a><a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/watch-footage-attack-tanushree-duttas-car-sets-hork-ok-pleassss-goes-viral-168700">Pleasss</a><a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/watch-footage-attack-tanushree-duttas-car-sets-hork-ok-pleassss-goes-viral-168700">'. </a>She even accused the film’s choreographer Ganesh Acharya, director Rakesh Sarang and producer Samee Siddique of being mute spectators on the set and allying with Patekar when the incident took place. Tanushree was to do a special song in the film and she eventually left the set and was replaced by Rakhi Sawant.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Incidentally, Dutta had raised objection a decade back, when the incident had actually taken place but the Police and the film body had not taken any action against Patekar. Tanushree's tell-all incident not only started a conversation on sexual harassment in Bollywood but also encouraged other women in the film industry to speak up.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In an emotional post on Facebook, TV producer Vinta Nanda accused actor <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/sanskaari-alok-nath-accused-of-rape-by-woman-filmmaker-170341">Alok Nath of brutally raping her.</a> The incident took place 20 years ago, and Vinta in a press conference later said how Tanushree Dutta's case had given her the confidence to speak up, many years after the incident. Several other actresses including TV actress Sandhya Mridul and <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/after-sandhya-mridul-now-actor-deepika-amin-accuses-alok-nath-of-harassment-170792">Dipika Amin</a> corroborated Nanda's story with their own personal encounters with Nath. Both accused him of sexual harassment on different occasions on film sets. Nath did not react to the accusations but filed a defamation case against Nanda.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Soon after Tanushree Dutta's interview, another case that completely shook the film industry was the <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/phantom-films-partners-separate-their-ways-169793">dissolving of &nbsp;Phantom Films</a>. The production house which had made critically acclaimed films like 'Lootera', 'Udta Punjab', 'Queen' and others was co-founded by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl. A <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment-news/kangana-ranaut-accuses-queen-director-vikas-bahl-of-sexual-misconduct-169920">former employee had accused Bahl</a> of misconduct in 2016 but the case finally came into light after Tanushree Dutta's case got widely reported in September this year. In a detailed report on Huffington Post, the victim stated that how during a party in Goa, Bahl had molested her and she had even gone and complained to Kashyap about it later but no action was taken while Bahl continued to harass her until she finally quit the company.&nbsp;<br />

Subsequently, both Nath and Bahl were expelled from film bodies. CINTAA served a show cause notice to Alok Nath while Bahl was sent one from &nbsp;Indian Film and Television Directors'Association(IFTDA).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Several other prominent names came out in the wake of the movement. Multiple women accused Subhash Ghai, Kailash Kher, Rajat Kapoor, Chetan Bhagat, Anu Malik, <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/metoo-multiple-women-accuse-sajid-khan-of-sexual-misconduct-harassment-171007">Sajid Khan of sexual misconduct.</a> The MeToo movement also heavily impacted other industries as well with prominent names from media, politics, and theatre got called out.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>The impact</strong></p>

<p>As prominent names from the entertainment industry came out, there was the natural uproar. The need of the hour was to disengage with those who had been serial offenders.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Amid the #MeToo drama, several producers and actors to a stand publicly and disassociated themselves from those who had been accused. Vikas Bahl was asked to finish the patchwork of 'Super 30' a film that he was directing but his name <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/vikas-bahl-may-not-be-credited-for-his-work-in-super-30-170450">would not be credited for direction</a>. Aamir Khan and<a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/housefull-4-sajid-khan-steps-down-as-director-akshay-kumar-says-wont-work-with-proven-offenders-171068"> Akshay Kumar </a>both decided to disassociate themselves with Subhash Kapoor and Sajid Khan respectively. Both the actors were working on projects that were being helmed by these men.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Malik had to step down from his role as a judge on the reality show 'Indian Idol' and Sajid Khan was asked to step down as the director of 'Housefull 4' which incidentally also had Nana Patekar in the cast. He was eventually replaced by Rana Daggubati.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Mumbai film festival (MAMI) decided to drop three films — AIB’s Chintu Ka Birthday, Anurag Kashyap’s 'Bebaak' and Rajat Kapoor’s 'Kadakh' — from its lineup. OTT platforms Amazon Prime Video and Hotstar too cancelled shows that they had worked on with AIB and Chakraborty.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, 11 women Indian filmmakers joined hands to support the movement and pledged to not work with those men who had been accused in the movement. Alankrita Shrivastava, Gauri Shinde, Kiran Rao, Konkona Sen Sharma, Meghna Guizar, Nandita Das, Nitya Mehra, Reema Kagti, Ruchi Narain, Shonali Bose and Zoya Akhtar were some of the women who decided to take a stand.&nbsp;</p>

Some who were sent on forced leave as names came out have now resumed work in their workplace. Many of those accused in the entertainment industry continue to get work. A lot have argued that there is also a need for thorough investigations in each of the case so as an unbiased judgment can be made as a lot of careers are at stake. Insiders, though the state, that only a fraction of names has been reported in the #MeToo movement and <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/imran-khan-on-vikas-bahl-everyone-in-the-film-industry-knew-have-heard-stories-from-three-other-actresses-170614">that lot of names, prominent ones, will never get reported thereby limiting the impact of the movement in the country.</a> It is also to be seen whether those who lost out of work because of repeated harassment, including Dutta who eventually left the film industry altogether, would get an opportunity to make a fresh start in Bollywood or not.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the outcome of the movement is yet to be fully understood, it should be noted that after years of being mum about issues, Bollywood finally found its voice in 2018.&nbsp;</p>

One of the first names to have come out in the movement was Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein as multiple women accused him of rape, sexual harassment, and misconduct. These women also included prominent names from the cinema including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Anniston, Angelina Jolie and others. Soon enough, the movement caught everyone's attention in other countries. While France, Israel, Canada, Italy were the first few countries to join America in the movement, closer home in India, the movement took nearly 8 months to gain momentum. There were, of course, the initial reports that were reported on social media but it was only when former Miss India and actress Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of sexual misconduct on a film set in 2008, did the movement get its much-needed boost in India. In an interview to a news channel, Tanushree recalled how Patekar had sexually harassed her on the sets of 'Horn Ok Pleasss'. She even accused the film’s choreographer Ganesh Acharya, director Rakesh Sarang and producer Samee Siddique of being mute spectators on the set and allying with Patekar when the incident took place. Tanushree was to do a special song in the film and she eventually left the set and was replaced by Rakhi Sawant. Incidentally, Dutta had raised objection a decade back, when the incident had actually taken place but the Police and the film body had not taken any action against Patekar. Tanushree's tell-all incident not only started a conversation on sexual harassment in Bollywood but also encouraged other women in the film industry to speak up. In an emotional post on Facebook, TV producer Vinta Nanda accused actor Alok Nath of brutally raping her. The incident took place 20 years ago, and Vinta in a press conference later said how Tanushree Dutta's case had given her the confidence to speak up, many years after the incident. Several other actresses including TV actress Sandhya Mridul and Dipika Amin corroborated Nanda's story with their own personal encounters with Nath. Both accused him of sexual harassment on different occasions on film sets. Nath did not react to the accusations but filed a defamation case against Nanda. Soon after Tanushree Dutta's interview, another case that completely shook the film industry was the dissolving of Phantom Films. The production house which had made critically acclaimed films like 'Lootera', 'Udta Punjab', 'Queen' and others was co-founded by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl. A former employee had accused Bahl of misconduct in 2016 but the case finally came into light after Tanushree Dutta's case got widely reported in September this year. In a detailed report on Huffington Post, the victim stated that how during a party in Goa, Bahl had molested her and she had even gone and complained to Kashyap about it later but no action was taken while Bahl continued to harass her until she finally quit the company. Subsequently, both Nath and Bahl were expelled from film bodies. CINTAA served a show cause notice to Alok Nath while Bahl was sent one from Indian Film and Television Directors'Association(IFTDA). Several other prominent names came out in the wake of the movement. Multiple women accused Subhash Ghai, Kailash Kher, Rajat Kapoor, Chetan Bhagat, Anu Malik, Sajid Khan of sexual misconduct. The MeToo movement also heavily impacted other industries as well with prominent names from media, politics, and theatre got called out. The impact As prominent names from the entertainment industry came out, there was the natural uproar. The need of the hour was to disengage with those who had been serial offenders. Amid the #MeToo drama, several producers and actors to a stand publicly and disassociated themselves from those who had been accused. Vikas Bahl was asked to finish the patchwork of 'Super 30' a film that he was directing but his name would not be credited for direction. Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar both decided to disassociate themselves with Subhash Kapoor and Sajid Khan respectively. Both the actors were working on projects that were being helmed by these men. Malik had to step down from his role as a judge on the reality show 'Indian Idol' and Sajid Khan was asked to step down as the director of 'Housefull 4' which incidentally also had Nana Patekar in the cast. He was eventually replaced by Rana Daggubati. Mumbai film festival (MAMI) decided to drop three films — AIB’s Chintu Ka Birthday, Anurag Kashyap’s 'Bebaak' and Rajat Kapoor’s 'Kadakh' — from its lineup. OTT platforms Amazon Prime Video and Hotstar too cancelled shows that they had worked on with AIB and Chakraborty. Meanwhile, 11 women Indian filmmakers joined hands to support the movement and pledged to not work with those men who had been accused in the movement. <p>Filmmaker Sajid Khan is latest to join the list of people accused of sexual harassment and abuse as part of India’s #MeToo movement that has shamed many Bollywood bigwigs.&nbsp;<br />

In an explosive post on Twitter, former assistant director Saloni Chopra recounted her chilling experience with Sajid. She revealed how she was repeatedly harassed, subjected to misbehaviour and abuse by the director. He would call at odd hours and ask for bikini pictures, remembers Saloni in her lengthy post.&nbsp;<br />

She wrote: “For months, he mentally abused me and I would cry myself to sleep every night. He’d tell me I wasn’t sexy enough to be an actress. I didn’t have it in me, I didn’t have the ‘oomph’ factor. I talked too much. I didn’t sit properly. I wasn’t alluring or girly enough. Said he wanted to take me under his wing and make me an actress. Cast me in his next movie, but only if I was prepared for it. A part of me wanted it so bad that I kept working for him, and excusing his behaviour whenever I could.”&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
She added, “He’d say horrible, horrible things about his supposed girlfriend at the time, who also happened to be one of the kindest, nicest women I’d ever met in the industry. I wondered why she was with a man like that. He’d gloat about how he made her who she is today, and he could train me too. Then he’d go onto describe their sex life in ways I didn’t need to know, and also remind me about his one vagina problem. He’d talk about his dick and how big it apparently is and his sexual needs. He would ask me to touch his dick and get irritated with me when I said I didn’t want to.”&nbsp;</p>

In an explosive post on Twitter, former assistant director Saloni Chopra recounted her chilling experience with Sajid. She revealed how she was repeatedly harassed, subjected to misbehaviour and abuse by the director. He would call at odd hours and ask for bikini pictures, remembers Saloni in her lengthy post. She wrote: “For months, he mentally abused me and I would cry myself to sleep every night. He’d tell me I wasn’t sexy enough to be an actress. I didn’t have it in me, I didn’t have the ‘oomph’ factor. I talked too much. I didn’t sit properly. I wasn’t alluring or girly enough. Said he wanted to take me under his wing and make me an actress. Cast me in his next movie, but only if I was prepared for it. A part of me wanted it so bad that I kept working for him, and excusing his behaviour whenever I could.” She added, “He’d say horrible, horrible things about his supposed girlfriend at the time, who also happened to be one of the kindest, nicest women I’d ever met in the industry. #MeToo: Multiple women accuse Sajid Khan of sexual misconduct

<p>Minister for women and child development Maneka Gandhi on Friday said that she believes in all the charges made by women against sexual harassment and thereafter called for a committee of four retired judges to conduct public hearings of <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/metoo-bombay-high-court-justice-says-judiciary-plagued-with-rampant-sexism-171078">all the cases</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I believe in all of them. I believe in the pain and trauma behind every single complainant," Gandhi told PTI.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I am proposing to set up a committee with senior judicial and legal persons as members to look into all issues emanating from the #MeToo campaign,” she said in an interview to PTI. The committee will look into the legal and institutional framework which is in place for handling complaints of sexual harassment, including some of the complaints if required, and advise the ministry on how to strengthen these, she said.</p>

<p>She also called for an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment against Minister of State (MoS) External Affairs MJ Akbar, who has become the first minister to be accused of sexual harassment, reports said.</p>

<p>Gandhi had earlier said that she is <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/happy-that-metoo-movement-has-started-in-india-says-maneka-gandhi-hopes-it-doesnt-go-out-of-control-170208">happy that the #MeToo movement</a> has started in India and hoped that the campaign does not go out of control.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Union Minister then gave a message to all the women who have been subjected to some or the other form of harassment and said, "Please remember that you can now - as we have interpreted it - complain 10 years later, 15 years later, it doesn't matter how much later. The point is, if you are going to complain, the avenue is still open."</p>

<p>More recently, upcoming Bollywood film ‘Housefull 4’ finds itself in the middle of #MeToo controversy as director <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/metoo-multiple-women-accuse-sajid-khan-of-sexual-misconduct-harassment-171007">Sajid Khan</a> steps down from his post in the wake of several sexual assault allegations levied against him.</p>

<p>Several filmmakers and actors, politicians and journalists have been named in a wave of sexual misconduct allegations, spurred on by actor Tanushree Dutta’s claims that she was harassed by her colleague Nana Patekar on the sets of a 2008 movie.</p>

I believe in all #MeToo cases, says Maneka Gandhi, calls for panel to hold public hearings

<p>Tanushree Dutta recorded her statement with the Mumbai Police on Wednesday after she filed an <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/tanushree-dutta-files-sexual-harassment-complaint-against-nana-patekar-169900">FIR against Nana Patekar</a> of<a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/tanushree-dutta-accuses-nana-patekar-harassing-her-set-10-years-ago-167771"> sexually harassing her on the sets of 2008 </a>film, choreographer Ganesh Acharya for facilitating the incident, director Rakesh Sarang and producer Samee Siddiqui for keeping quiet and brushing the issue under the carpet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She has charged them under molestation and obscenity under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police complaint was filed at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai.&nbsp;</p>

<p><em>I am as above and states that I am residing on mentioned address since 2007 with my parents. My native is Jharkhand. I was Miss India Universe 2004 since then I am working as an actress in the Hindi film industry. &nbsp;&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><em>In the year 2008, a team comprising of Director Rakesh Sarang, and Producer Samee Siddiqui, who was producing a movie called ' Horn OK Please ' approached me for one item song which was produced by Sunrise Pictures Pvt. Ltd. I enter into an agreement with Sunrise Pictures Pvt. Ltd. to shoot the song and get paid a remuneration.&nbsp;From 23 rd March 2008 to 26th</em><em> March 2008 I was shooting for a song in the film ' Horn OK Please ' at </em><em>filmisthan</em><em> Studio-3, Goregaon (West), Mumbai. The said song was choreographed by Ganesh Acharya whose name was recommended by me as a choreographer. The Director of the said movie was Rakesh Sarang and Producer Samee Siddiqui approached me for the said song. The Director Rakesh Sarang and Producer Samee Siddiqui informed me that the movie featured Nana Patekar but this item song would be only a solo song picturized on me. &nbsp;They also informed me that Nana Patekar would only have one line in the song which they will shoot separately and will not be part of my choreography. &nbsp;The Producer and Director also committed to </em><em>keep</em><em> in my comfort level with the clothes and dance steps. &nbsp;The rehearsal of the said song took place on 17th, 18th and 20th March 2008 at </em><em>Shariq</em><em> Hall, S.V.P. Nagar, Andheri (West), Mumbai under the supervision of Choreographer Ganesh Acharya and his assistant Ms Daisy Shah.</em></p>

<p><em>Before the </em><em>shoot</em><em> I had clearly mentioned </em><em>that,</em><em> I will not enact and/or perform any lewd or vulgar or uncomfortable steps in the particular song. &nbsp;Subsequently shooting of the said song started at the </em><em>filmistan</em><em> studio, Goregaon (West) from 23rd March 2008. &nbsp;All the four days Nana Patekar was on the set despite his work in the song </em><em>being</em><em> over. On the 4th day of the shoot, 26th March 2008, in between the shots was going on the set there were around 100 supporting staff including junior artists, dancers and others were present on the set and Nana Patekar against my will and consent started grabbing me by the arms and pushing me around on the pretext of teaching me how to dance even though he is not the choreographer when he was touching indecently and unnecessary in front of everybody but nobody objected and all were complicit in this behaviour by being silent spectators. &nbsp;I felt very uncomfortable because of his behaviour mentioned above and he has outraged my modesty I felt embarrassed like this his behaviour was inappropriate towards me.</em></p>

<p><em>He told the choreographer and the other junior artists to back away so that he could teach me the dance steps even though he was not the choreographer and he was not required during the choreography as per my previous rehearsals. This behaviour was not natural and I did not feel comfortable about it. And his one line of the song was supposed to be performed by him alone and according to producer and director, it should have been done on the very first day of shoot i.e on 23rd March 2008.</em></p>

<p><em>I complained about Nana Patekar's above behaviour to the producer, director and the choreographer on the same day. I was hoping that they would communicate and take some action to improve the situation. I was getting very disturbed, distracted and uncomfortable hence unable to concentrate on my work.&nbsp;<br />
After I raised my objection the Director, Producer and Choreographer assured me that everything will be fine, but sometime later when I was called back on the set from my van for on set rehearsals before the shot, I was informed by choreographer Ganesh Acharya that new steps have been added in the dance sequence which was intimate and included Nana Patekar touching me in an inappropriate way. &nbsp;Samee Siddiqui, Rakesh Sarang, Ganesh Acharya and Nana Patekar had a joint meeting on set and they decided to include intimate dance steps without my consent, knowledge and will.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><em>After I refused to do the steps, I was being forced and pressurized by the producer, director and choreographer to perform these new additional intimate dance steps while Nana Patekar was still on the set and was aware of the conversation and the fact that I had refused to perform intimate steps. At this point of time because I refused to perform the dance steps as I was not comfortable with steps, same time I was threatened by the Producer Samee Siddiqui that he will call the media to defame me in the film industry and boycott me.</em></p>

<p><em>I walked away from the set into Vanity Van as they were harassing me physically and mentally also, therefore, it was unable me to bear and tolerate more harassment because all were supporting and taking </em><em>side</em><em> of Nana Patekar and forcing me to do intimate dance steps. &nbsp;Hence from Vanity Van I immediately called to my parents and manager Jamshedji and they reached on the set and they asked as to why Nana Patekar misbehave with me and in reply Producer clearly stated that in any situation you have to do these dance steps and without sorting out problem in some time they packed up the shoot and thereafter I was supposed to go home but when I step out of the vanity van I saw the media was already called out by the producer and I heard some political party worker chanting some party slogans of MNS. &nbsp;They started assaulting and damaging my car while I and my family were sitting inside the car trying to leave the venue. &nbsp;All these violent people who were attacking my car had come to support Nana Patekar as they were very angry at me for refusing to do dance step with him and complaining about his behaviour, &nbsp;anyhow we were rescued by the Police and escaped from the spot. We were taken to the Goregaon Police station to record my complaint.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><em>After the above incident, I was under tremendous shock and I suffered psychological trauma and was unable to take up work and suffered huge monetary loss in crores of rupees. &nbsp;I decided to take action also by lodging a complaint with the CINE AND TV ARTISTES ASSOCIATION vide I made a written complaint dated 27th March 2008 which was registered as complaint form no. 556 dated 28th March of 2008 vide receipt no. 36914 in which I have narrated all the incident in details in my own handwriting of which I have provided copy alongside this complaint. CINE AND TV ARTISTES ASSOCIATION had passed an order and closed my matter without any investigation without considering my complaint </em><em>for</em><em> sexual harassment. &nbsp;The copy of this order is also provided herewith. CINTAA recently issued a public apology for handling this matter poorly in 2008.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><em>On 5th October 2018, I saw the news on television channel Times Now in which Producer Samee Siddiqui has made comment saying that " She must have been on her periods " This statement by him has further outraged my modesty and embarrassed me in public again.</em></p>

<p><em>Therefore, I request to register cognizable offence for sexual harassment and outraging of modesty against Nana Patekar, Ganesh Acharya, Samee Siddiqui and Rakesh Sarang.</em></p>

<p>She was allegedly assaulted on the sets after she refused to do sleazy steps with Nana Patekar in a song choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. She also mentioned that Nana sent the MNS workers to vandalise her car and attack her after she exited the studio in 2008. She also claimed that an FIR was lodged at Goregaon police station during that time but no complaint was lodged against Patekar.&nbsp;</p>

I was Miss India Universe 2004 since then I am working as an actress in the Hindi film industry. In the year 2008, a team comprising of Director Rakesh Sarang, and Producer Samee Siddiqui, who was producing a movie called ' Horn OK Please ' approached me for one item song which was produced by Sunrise Pictures Pvt. Ltd. I enter into an agreement with Sunrise Pictures Pvt. Ltd. to shoot the song and get paid a remuneration. From 23 rd March 2008 to 26th March 2008 I was shooting for a song in the film ' Horn OK Please ' at filmisthan Studio-3, Goregaon (West), Mumbai. The said song was choreographed by Ganesh Acharya whose name was recommended by me as a choreographer. The Director of the said movie was Rakesh Sarang and Producer Samee Siddiqui approached me for the said song. The Director Rakesh Sarang and Producer Samee Siddiqui informed me that the movie featured Nana Patekar but this item song would be only a solo song picturized on me. They also informed me that Nana Patekar would only have one line in the song which they will shoot separately and will not be part of my choreography. The Producer and Director also committed to keep in my comfort level with the clothes and dance steps. The rehearsal of the said song took place on 17th, 18th and 20th March 2008 at Shariq Hall, S.V.P. Nagar, Andheri (West), Mumbai under the supervision of Choreographer Ganesh Acharya and his assistant Ms Daisy Shah. Before the shoot I had clearly mentioned that, I will not enact and/or perform any lewd or vulgar or uncomfortable steps in the particular song. Subsequently shooting of the said song started at the filmistan studio, Goregaon (West) from 23rd March 2008. All the four days Nana Patekar was on the set despite his work in the song being over. On the 4th day of the shoot, 26th March 2008, in between the shots was going on the set there were around 100 supporting staff including junior artists, dancers and others were present on the set and Nana Patekar against my will and consent started grabbing me by the arms and pushing me around on the pretext of teaching me how to dance even though he is not the choreographer when he was touching indecently and unnecessary in front of everybody but nobody objected and all were complicit in this behaviour by being silent spectators. I felt very uncomfortable because of his behaviour mentioned above and he has outraged my modesty I felt embarrassed like this his behaviour was inappropriate towards me. He told the choreographer and the other junior artists to back away so that he could teach me the dance steps even though he was not the choreographer and he was not required during the choreography as per my previous rehearsals. This behaviour was not natural and I did not feel comfortable about it. And his one line of the song was supposed to be performed by him alone and according to producer and director, it should have been done on the very first day of shoot i.e on 23rd March 2008. I complained about Nana Patekar's above behaviour to the producer, director and the choreographer on the same day. I was hoping that they would communicate and take some action to improve the situation. I was getting very disturbed, distracted and uncomfortable hence unable to concentrate on my work. After I raised my objection the Director, Producer and Choreographer assured me that everything will be fine, but sometime later when I was called back on the set from my van for on set rehearsals before the shot, I was informed by choreographer Ganesh Acharya that new steps have been added in the dance sequence which was intimate and included Nana Patekar touching me in an inappropriate way. Samee Siddiqui, Rakesh Sarang, Ganesh Acharya and Nana Patekar had a joint meeting on set and they decided to include intimate dance steps without my consent, knowledge and will. After I refused to do the steps, I was being forced and pressurized by the producer, director and choreographer to perform these new additional intimate dance steps while Nana Patekar was still on the set and was aware of the conversation and the fact that I had refused to perform intimate steps. At this point of time because I refused to perform the dance steps as I was not comfortable with steps, same time I was threatened by the Producer Samee Siddiqui that he will call the media to defame me in the film industry and boycott me. I walked away from the set into Vanity Van as they were harassing me physically and mentally also, therefore, it was unable me to bear and tolerate more harassment because all were supporting and taking side of Nana Patekar and forcing me to do intimate dance steps. Hence from Vanity Van I immediately called to my parents and manager Jamshedji and they reached on the set and they asked as to why Nana Patekar misbehave with me and in reply Producer clearly stated that in any situation you have to do these dance steps and without sorting out problem in some time they packed up the shoot and thereafter I was supposed to go home but when I step out of the vanity van I saw the media was already called out by the producer and I heard some political party worker chanting some party slogans of MNS. They started assaulting and damaging my car while I and my family were sitting inside the car trying to leave the venue. All these violent people who were attacking my car had come to support Nana Patekar as they were very angry at me for refusing to do dance step with him and complaining about his behaviour, anyhow we were rescued by the Police and escaped from the spot. <p>&nbsp;The Maharashtra State Women`s Commission (MSWC) on Tuesday took cognizance of Tanushree Dutta`s allegations against veteran actor Nana Patekar after the former knocked the doors of the women`s body seeking an investigation.</p>

<p>The MSWC has issued notices to Nana Patekar, director Rakesh Sarang&nbsp;and choreographer Ganesh Acharya, among others, directing them to file a reply within 10 days.</p>

<p>The commission has also asked the state police for an update of the investigation over Dutta`s complaint.<br />

&nbsp;The former beauty queen has been asked to appear before the MSWC and record her statement in detail as the earlier statement came through her lawyer.<br />

"We have taken cognizance of Tanushree Dutta`s complaint and have asked her to appear before the commission within 10 days. We have sent notices to people against whom Tanushree has filed a complaint, asking them to appear before us within 10 days," Vijaya Rahatkar of Maharashtra State Commission for Women told ANI.</p>

<p>A directive has been issued to all cine and television associations to form committees for redressal of such complaints.</p>

<p>On Monday, Dutta had demanded an investigation into the investigations her harassment allegations against Patekar, Ganesh Acharya, producer Samee Siddiqui, director Rakesh Sarang, and several Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party workers.</p>

<p>On the way out, her car was brutally attacked but with the help of the police she managed to escape from the spot, the complaint further read.</p>
