"We had no idea that our little 'experimental film' would travel so much. Experimental doesn't mean no fun. The film, I learn, is screening in both subtitled and dubbed versions in different screens. My whole team is super thrilled," Raghavan said in a statement.&nbsp; 
 
The critically-acclaimed film, produced by Sanjay Routray's Matchbox Pictures, ran successfully for over 75 days, earning over Rs 100 crore after its release in October 2018 back home in India.&nbsp; 
 
Last week, 'Andhadhun' opened the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) and also received a standing ovation in the presence of Tabu, Raghavan and Routray.

Earning USD4.05 million on Saturday and USD3.18 million on Sunday, AndhaDhun's total earnings stand at 13.72, which is 95.38 crore in Indian rupees.

It will open with a tribute to Tabu and a discussion along with a screening of her latest film.

The opening and closing night films and galas will be held at the Ahrya Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills.

“We have discussed honoring Tabu for a long time, and this year felt like the right time,” said Christina Marouda, IFFLA’s executive director.“Her work and personality embody everything that IFFLA is about — being fearless, versatile, independent in spirit, unwilling to compromise, brilliant in the range of her performances, and simply beautiful. With half of the festival’s 2019 line-up directed by female filmmakers, this couldn’t be a stronger celebration of women in Indian cinema,” Marouda added.

Director Amit Sharma says he had first approached Tabu and Irrfan Khan to play the role of an elderly couple who are expecting a baby in "Badhaai Ho" but the duo felt they would not look convincing for the role.&nbsp; 
 
In the film, the 64-year-old Neena Gupta, and Gajraj Rao play the elderly couple who find out they would be turning parents for the third time, much to the discomfort of their children and society. 
 
"We approached Tabu mam in the beginning as we thought she would be nice in the role. But she's the one who suggested Neena mam's name and said 'You need someone slightly more older, so that when people see her getting pregnant, there's this disbelief'," Amit told PTI.&nbsp; 
 
"There is an age difference between the two and I liked Tabu's suggestion. Neena mam is perfect for the role," he added. 
 
The director said when he spoke to Irrfan, regarding the project, there was a similar suggestion.&nbsp; 
 
"When we thought of Irrfan and Tabu, we thought that they would be the best husband and wife. But both of them said though they're relatable and have worked as pairs on screen but if we have a father who isn't as fit and the mother slightly older, it'll be more relatable," he said.&nbsp; 
 
"Neena and Gajraj feel more real and organic. So it all clicked," the director added.&nbsp; 
 
Amit was impressed by the script written by Shantanu Srivastava and Akshat Ghildial and was sold on the idea the moment he heard one line - a 51-year-old becoming a mother again. 
 
What followed was nearly one and a half years of writing and fine-tuning the script. 
 
Amit says, he was so bowled over by the idea that he decided to produce the film through Chrome pictures, a production house established by him and partners Aleya Sen and Hemant Bhandari.&nbsp; 
 
"Then I met Priti Shahani (of Junglee pictures) and got to know she was working on the same idea but we had two different films. We both read each other's scripts and she said she loved ours. She said lets make the film together now."&nbsp; 
 
"Badhaai Ho" features Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra and is the second directorial outing of Amit after Arjun Kapoor's "Tevar".&nbsp; 
 
The director, who has directed more than 1500 ad films, says he learnt a lot from the failure of his debut movie. 
 
"It's different when you make a feature film because the canvas and the perspective is huge. A two-hour film is a different ball game where the scenes aren't shot in a linear fashion.&nbsp; 
 
"But 'Badhaai Ho' groomed me a lot. I want the audience to become a part of Kaushik family's world. If that happens, then it would be my victory. I have tried new things in my craft and way of looking at things... I hope people like that."&nbsp;

The blood on the floor is cleaned up with a mop, the body is stuffed into a bag, broken glass pieces are cleared out- and amid all the chaos, the pianist continues to play. There is a certain sense of urgency, a sense of anticipation at all that's happening on the screen, yet the piano has a calming effect.&nbsp;

He lands a gig for himself at Pune's hip restaurant Franco and also falls in love with the owner's daughter Sofie, (Radhika Apte). A regular patron of the restaurant, yesteryear's actor Pramod Sinha (Anil Dhawan) asks him to come home on his anniversary and play for his wife Simi (Tabu). It's only when Akaash reaches Sinha's home, does he realize that a murder has happened.&nbsp;

Raghavan's taut thriller has twists in abundance, with no character completely black or white. Everyone has a motive, and everyone is unpredictable. They don't always do what they say, so after a point, you keep anticipating for the next twist. It's interesting how Raghavan first surprises you with the twists, (I found myself gaping in shock twice in the first half), and then by the time you get used to that fact the narrative has surprises in store for you, you start anticipating the next twist making the entire film extremely engrossing.&nbsp;

The film not only has an engaging plot, but the star cast is superb. There are of course the leads- Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, Radhika Apte- who are perfectly cast in their roles, but it also has a superb supporting cast. Be it Hussain as the 'nice' doctor who smuggles organs, or Manav Vij who plays the cop who is at wrong places at the wrong time, or the child actor- Kabir Sajid, who is always suspicious of Akaash- each of the actors are well suited to their characters.&nbsp;

Leading man Ayushmann Khurrana, who has now become the poster boy of slice-of-life films, attempts a thriller for the first time and does justice to it. Khurrana's choice of films is always unique making him the ideal actor along with Rajkummar Rao to play the regular guy. His Akaash is not a very simple, straightforward guy and he knows how to manipulate people around him. Khurrana delivers a restraint performance- a stark contrast from the typical north Indian boy we are used to seeing in play on the big screen. Khurrana is pitch perfect as Akaash.&nbsp;

Radhika Apte who plays his lady love brings her effervescent charm but has limited screen time which is a bit disappointing. We have seen Apte off late in such powerful roles, that one excepts all her in great characters in all her films.&nbsp;

The film, though belongs to Tabu who channels her inner Lady Macbeth, infuses drama, vulnerability and certain quirk to her character making Simi a very interesting character on screen. You enjoy watching Simi plot evil plans, you laugh out when she plays coy. It is so good to see the actress in a role that lets her perform to her hilt and she doesn't disappoint.

Had the second half been a bit shorter, the film would have been so much more fun but I am willing to ignore that bit because of Raghavan's style of storytelling triumphs over these flaws.&nbsp;

A word on the screenplay where Raghavan, true to his style, uses old Hindi numbers in crucial points of the narrative making it pertinent to the story and thoroughly enjoyable.&nbsp;

The defence counsel also said Salman was under the custody of forest department for five days and he should be given the benefit of the Probation of Offenders Act.

But the court refused to give Salman the benefit citing the circumstances of the case and gravity of the offence, according to a copy of the judgement.

"...considering the rising number of cases of illegal hunting of wildlife animals, looking at the circumstances of the case and gravity of the offence, giving the benefit of Probation of Offender Act does not appear justified," the judge said.

The defence also said the accused is an actor and his sentencing will affect the livelihood of several families. Opposing this, the prosecution said the actor has committed an offence of serious nature.

The prosecution also mentioned the hit-and-run case against him in Mumbai and other cases while requesting for the maximum punishment.

The verdict triggered a deluge of sympathy from colleagues for the "bad boy" of Hindi filmdom, whose career and personal life have been peppered with controversies, including a manslaughter charge in a hit-and-run case that is still pending.

"I feel bad. He should be given relief. He has done a lot of humanitarian work," actor-politician Jaya Bachchan told reporters outside Parliament in New Delhi, adding that the punishment was harsh.

Since morning, media crews, hundreds of stargazers and security personnel swarmed the court premises waiting for Salman and the other accused to show up. Large crowds armed with phone cameras lined up along the 2-kilometre route from the

court as the 52-year-old was whisked away in a Bolero police jeep to spend a night in the Jodhpur Central Jail. Within hours, social media was awash with photographs of Salman, dressed in a black shirt and jeans, entering the jail.

D-Day for Salman Khan, 4 others in blackbuck poaching case

It took the court 20 long years to convict 'serial offender' Salman Khan in the Blackbuck poaching case. And while most would accuse the judiciary for taking such a long time to declare its judgement, it is also a small victory for the Bishnoi community which <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/blackbuck-poaching-case-verdict-salman-khan-convicted-128435">kept the legal battle going for the past two decades.</a>&nbsp;

The community for centuries has worshipped and protected the nature. The community, started by Jammeshwarji Maharaj (Jambaji) around the 16 century AD, are governed by 29 set principles which include the protection and preservation of wildlife. The community is known to put their lives at stake in order to protect the rare antelope or a tree.&nbsp;

The Bishnois of Jodhpur consider the black buck to be the reincarnation of their religious Guru Bhagwan Jambeshwar also known as Jambaji.&nbsp;

The people of this community are known to be God-fearing and gentle but show their aggressive side only when it comes to protecting their blackbucks.&nbsp;

According to Bishnoi folklore, Jambaji is believed to have instructed his followers that blackbuck was to be revered as his manifestation. &nbsp;It is believed that when these animals raid the crops of the Bishnois, they prefer losing the crop than driving them away.&nbsp;

Blackbucks are found in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country. The blackbuck is considered the most handsome member of the bovine family. Measuring a length of 120cm, with a height of 60 to 80cm, they weigh nearly 30 to 40kg.

The males have 50-60cm long horns while the females are hornless. Blackbucks do not shed their horns.&nbsp;

The quantum of punishment is yet to be decided. Even if he is sentenced to jail, he will in all likelihood get bail and will in all probability appeal to the higher court. But one thing is for sure that the community which protects the animal like one of its on, will continue to put pressure and fight till they get justice.&nbsp;

It took the court 20 long years to convict 'serial offender' Salman Khan in the Blackbuck poaching case. And while most would accuse the judiciary for taking such a long time to declare its judgement, it is also a small victory for the Bishnoi community which kept the legal battle going for the past two decades. According to the case, Salman Khan and others were accused of killing two blackbucks in Bhagoda ki Dhani in Kankani village near Jodhpur on the night of October 1, 1998 -- during the shooting of their film Hum Saath Saath Hain. They were charged under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act. The trial of the case has been in progress for the last 20 years. The actor was also charged with two other poaching cases of Chinkara deer and black up in Bhawad village and Mathania village respectively. Those who have been following the case for the past 20 years, would know that the case would not have gained such prominence in the media had it not involved the superstar and for the relentless persuasion of Bishnoi community to keep the legal battle going. The community for centuries has worshipped and protected the nature. The community, started by Jammeshwarji Maharaj (Jambaji) around the 16 century AD, are governed by 29 set principles which include the protection and preservation of wildlife. The community is known to put their lives at stake in order to protect the rare antelope or a tree.
