Back in 2011, when India co-hosted the mega event with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Hitman was overlooked as his competitors Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina got a look-in.

However, Rohit revamped in style and had a decent run in 2015 whereas came to his best in the 2019 edition, ending as the highest run-getter (648 runs with five centuries) in England and Wales. India's schedule at the CWC 2023 edition

After Australia, India will face Afghanistan on October 11 at the national capital New Delhi, and then lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan on October 14 in Ahmedabad. From thereon, the Men in Blue will take on Bangladesh, in Pune, on October 19, New Zealand on October 22 in Dharamshala, and England on October 29 in Lucknow, respectively.&nbsp;

India will host Sri Lanka on November 02&nbsp;at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and then meet South Africa on November 05 and the Netherlands on November 12 in Bengaluru, respectively.&nbsp;In the last edition, in 2019, India bowed out of the semi-finals in England and Wales. India beat Nepal in a rain-marred&nbsp;match to enter the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2023 on Monday, September 4. India skipper Rohit Sharma, however, said that the players were not at their best and that they have to up the game as there's no room for 'complacency in the Super Four stage.'

"We can't really look too much into these two games, one was washed out, but luckily we got to bat in the first game and bowl in this one. We haven't been at our best, but a few guys are coming out after months out of the game. Once we move ahead in the Super Fours, there's no room for complacency. First game, under pressure, Hardik and Ishan got us into a good position. Today our bowling was okay, but fielding was bad," said Rohit at the post-match presentation.

Rohit was adjudged Player of the Match for his 74 not out off 59 balls, but said: “To start with, there were some nerves, but once I got my eye in, I wanted to cash in and get my team home.”

India, after winning the toss, asked Nepal to bat first in overcast Kandy, Sri Lanka. The Asian minnows made merry of the dropped chances by India - three in the first five overs - as they reached&nbsp;65 inside 10 overs. The spinners, along with first-change pacers Shardul Thakur and Hardik Pandya, then turned up the heat as Nepal folded for 230 runs in 48.5 overs.

Starting the chase, India were 17/0 in 2.1 overs before rain halted play. At the restart, India were given a changed target of 147 runs in 23 overs as per Duckworth Lewis System (DLS) which they achieved without losing a wicket. Apart from Rohit, Shubman Gill also scored a fifty and remained not out on 67 off 62 balls as India won in 20.1 overs by 10 wickets.

Asia Cup: 'No room for complacency in Super Four,' says skipper Rohit Sharma after India beat Nepal

India survived a horrible top-order collapse against Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2023 opener as Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan played arguably the most important innings of their ODI careers. Pandya, vice-captain of India, and Kishan added 138 runs for the fifth wicket to rescue India from a precarious position.

Kishan, who already has a double-century to his name in ODIs, scored 82 and Pandya scored 87 as the duo took India to 204 in 37.3 after losing four wickets for 66. Kishan most probably got his chance in the playing XI as KL Rahul was not available for the first two matches of India's Asia Cup campaign. After the innings against Pakistan, however, Kishan has done everything he can to ensure he isn't overlooked once KL Rahul is back.

Speaking on Kishan's performance, Rohit said at the toss against Nepal that 'it's a good sign for them.'

"The way we batted under pressure, Hardik and Ishan batted brilliantly. Ishan showed a lot of maturity and took the game on as well. Good signs for us", said Rohit

India's focus is on two players to replace Pant namely, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul. Rahul, however, got injured in IPL 2023 and Sanju Samson came into the mix as well. KL, meanwhile was ruled out of India's first two matches, against Pakistan and Nepal, before the regional tournament started with a niggle, giving Kishan a chance to put his case forward. Making full use of the opportunity, Kishan played his best ODI innings so far.

Kishan's innings is also important as BCCI is expected to announce an initial 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup on Monday, September 4. The World Cup starts on October 5 in India and will continue till November 19. India are one of the title contenders along with defending champions England and New Zealand.

India opened their campaign in Asia Cup 2023 versus arch-rivals Pakistan, in Kandy, on September 02 (Saturday). As the rain had the final say and the high-voltage clash ended in no result, Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue have now moved on to their next game and have locked horns with Nepal for the first time ever in international cricket&nbsp;in their final group stage game on Monday (September 04).&nbsp;

Winning the toss, Rohit &amp; Co. opted to bowl first in another rain-predicted contest in Kandy. While Indian bowlers did produce quite a lot of chances, the fielders failed to complement with back-to-back dropped catches. Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer dropped easy chances as Nepal openers were off to a solid start.&nbsp;

Talking about Kohli's dropped catch, the former Indian captain made a mess of a regulation chance at cover point. It was an uppish drive from&nbsp;Aasif Sheikh as Kohli failed to grab the catch. Here's the video:

Haris Rauf then took over the reins and took the wickets of Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill to leave India four down for 66 in 15th over. While Iyer got out on nine runs playing a pull shot, Gill could just score 10 off 32 balls before a Rauf jaffa hit his&nbsp;timber&nbsp;through his defence.

Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya then got together and had added 36 runs for the fifth wicket as India crossed 100-run mark in 20 overs. At the time of writing this report, Kishan was 32 not out and Pandya was unbeaten on 16.&nbsp;

Ahead of the marquee face-off, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt named his national side as the favourites and feels India are solely dependent on captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.&nbsp;

On his YouTube channel, Butt pointed out, "If we look at India's fast bowling, fitness is a concern. Players have been unfit for a long time, we don't know if they are fragile, will they go full throttle. Apart from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, they have youngsters, who have played plenty of cricket but they don't have that much of experience."

He asserted, "India have won matches only when Rohit Sharma has played well or Virat Kohli has done something spectacular. When the onus is on others they have mostly struggled. Pakistan have Babar, Rizwan, Fakhar, Shadab, Shaheen, Haris Rauf. And in my opinion Pakistan have a much larger core group. Butt further opined on where the Men in Green have an 'added advantage' and said, "We have bowlers who can bowl at 90mph, only one or two can touch 90mph, others don't have that much pace. This is an added advantage. We have both type of spinners, fast bowling all-rounder, and he too touches 140kph."

In addition, Butt spoke about Indian youngsters and acknowledged their experience of facing tough situations in the Indian Premier League (IPL). CWC '23: Sunil Gavaskar points out most important FACTOR for India to do well and it's not a cricket skill

The ICC ODI World Cup is coming to India after a gap of 12 years and India skipper Rohit Sharma wants to make full use of the opportunity, unlike last time. Rohit was left out of the 15-man squad that played the World Cup in 2011. During the last edition, however, Rohit topped the run charts as he amassed 648 runs but India failed to reach the final.

With the 2023 edition just about over a month away, Rohit wants to get back to the 2019 phase when he was in a 'great frame of mind' which showed in his numbers. Rohit, notably, averaged 81 in the 2019 edition in nine matches and had hit five hundreds as well with a high score of 140.&nbsp;

"For me, it is important how I keep myself relaxed and not worry about external factors that play a role, whether positively or not negatively," Rohit told news agency PTI in a recent interview. "I want to shut out everything. I want to get into the phase I was in before the 2019 World Cup. I was in a great frame of mind and prepared really well for the tournament."

The ICC ODI World Cup is coming to India after a gap of 12 years and India skipper Rohit Sharma wants to make full use of the opportunity, unlike last time. Rohit was left out of the 15-man squad that played the World Cup in 2011. During the last edition, however, Rohit topped the run charts as he amassed 648 runs but India failed to reach the final. With the 2023 edition just about over a month away, Rohit wants to get back to the 2019 phase when he was in a 'great frame of mind' which showed in his numbers. Rohit, notably, averaged 81 in the 2019 edition in nine matches and had hit five hundreds as well with a high score of 140. "For me, it is important how I keep myself relaxed and not worry about external factors that play a role, whether positively or not negatively," Rohit told news agency PTI in a recent interview. "I want to shut out everything. I want to get into the phase I was in before the 2019 World Cup. I was in a great frame of mind and prepared really well for the tournament." Speaking about what does he think about the legacy he might leave behind, Rohit said, "I am not the person who thinks about what kind of legacy I will leave behind. My legacy will be for people to judge and talk about, not for me to say. I am not a firm believer in numbers. You should be happy and enjoy the time you have in front of you and try to live in that moment."
