This comes as the British government has sought to strike new deals with countries around the world, including India, following its departure from the European Union after Brexit.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Yoon, as quoted by local media, told his cabinet last week that “the upcoming visit will serve as a springboard for further deepening economic cooperation between the two countries.”&nbsp;

He also said that the cooperation between South Korea and the UK will centre on science and technology as Seoul has sought to expand business opportunities and high-tech industry supply chains, he added.&nbsp;

Yoon will also be accompanied by significant business figures including Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai chief Chung Eui-sun.

The UK and South Korea have traded a total of goods and services worth $20.1 billion in the year to the end of the second quarter this year.&nbsp;

London is also hopeful that a new “Downing Street Accord” will be signed later this week which will help secure “robust supply chains” and increase technology sharing and defence cooperation.&nbsp;

“As two nations focused on innovation, harnessing new technologies and defending the international rules-based order, the UK and Republic of Korea are natural partners,” said Sunak, ahead of Yoon’s visit.&nbsp;

“Through our new Downing Street Accord, we will drive investment, boost trade and build a friendship that not only supports global stability, but protects our interests and lasts the test of time,” he added.&nbsp;

Both countries have also pledged to step up joint training and operations “to create the most comprehensive exercise regime between the UK and any partner other than the US,” said Downing Street.

Yoon’s visit, where he is expected to receive the full red carpet treatment, will also include a state banquet at Buckingham Palace and a lunch with the king and his wife, Queen Camilla.&nbsp;

In the text messages sent to ministers, Cameron allegedly appealed to them to provide Greensill access to the coronavirus loan support scheme of the government. 
 
The former minister sent nine WhatsApp messages to the then chancellor Rishi Sunak, 12 texts to Sir Tom Scholar, the then permanent secretary to the Treasury, two WhatsApp messages to Richard Sharp, then adviser to Sunak and multiple texts, emails, phone calls to the ministers Michael Gove, Matt Hancock, Nadhim Zahawi, John Glen and Jesse Norman. 
 
In the messages, Cameron often signed off as “Love Dc” or typed a simple thumbs-up emoji. In a text message sent on 6 March 2020 to Scholar, Cameron said: “I am riding to the rescue with supply chain finance with my new friend Lex Greensill.” At this time, the financial markets were in freefall because of the start of the pandemic. 
 
He further questioned the response of the Bank of England to the mounting crisis and said that he “never quite understood how [interest] rate cuts help a pandemic”. He stated that he hoped to “see you with Rishi’s for an elbow bump or foot tap. Love Dc.”

Greensill Capital was founded by an Australian banker from farming stock Lex Greensill. It specialises in supply chain finance in which money is borrowed by the businesses to pay their suppliers. 
 
The efforts made by Cameron were wasted as the firm failed to receive any money from the coronavirus scheme and hence, collapsed in March 2021. It was estimated that the bank's failure in 2021 is likely to have cost UK taxpayers up to £5 billion ($6.21 billion).

Reacting to the committee's report, Cameron stated, “While I am pleased that the report confirms I broke no rules, I very much take on board its wider points. I always acted in good faith, and had no idea until the end of last year that Greensill Capital was in danger of failure.”

In a three-page letter addressed to Sunak which she posted on X, Braverman said: "Someone needs to be honest: your plan is not working, we have endured record election defeats, your resets have failed and we are running out of time. You need to change course urgently."&nbsp;

She accused Sunak of "equivocation, disregard and a lack of interest" over several policies, including cutting immigration and the teaching of gender in schools.&nbsp;

"You have manifestly and repeatedly failed to deliver on every single one of these key policies," she wrote.&nbsp;

"Either your distinctive style of government means you are incapable of doing so. Or, as I must surely conclude now, you never had any intention of keeping your promises," she added.&nbsp;

In the article, Braverman had claimed that right-wing protesters were "rightly met with a stern response", but the "pro-Palestinian mobs" were "largely ignored".&nbsp;

In a major blow to Rishi Sunak, the Supreme Court on Wednesday (Nov 15) ruled as unlawful the British prime minister’s controversial plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda.

The apex court’s unanimous rule sided with the lower court’s judgment in June that found deficiencies in the Rwandan asylum system.

The lower court had found that sending anyone to Rwanda would be in breach of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) laws as there was a “real risk” they could be returned to their home countries to face “persecution or other inhumane treatment”.

President of the court Lord Reed, during the ruling, said there was a "real risk" asylum seekers could be sent from Rwanda to the places they fled from.

He pointed to crucial evidence from the United Nations’ refugee agency, the UNHCR, which highlighted the failure of a similar deportation agreement between Israel and Rwanda.

<h2>Serious blow to Sunak's 'stop the boats' plan</h2>

The judgement throws a spanner in the works of the prime who had repeatedly pledged to “stop the boats”—a reference to the proposed Illegal Immigration Bill that promises to end illegal entry as a route to asylum in the UK.

The plan was first announced in April 2022, but has been stuck in legal limbo and the UK government failed to deport a single person.

The Rwanda plan was introduced by former home secretary Priti Patel and backed by her successor, Suella Braverman, who was sacked on Monday after a string of controversies.

The government had been claiming that a growing number of immigrants exploit the Rwandan asylum scheme to reach the UK illegally through small boats travelling across the English Channel – a claim that has been vehemently rejected by refugee charities.

The number of crossings has risen significantly in recent years, a trend Sunak has vowed to reverse.

However, it has been a costly and public failure for three successive prime ministers. According to BBC, the UK has paid the Rwandan government £140 million ($177 million) for the proposal.

Rishi Sunak in a statement said that the government would prepare for the next steps to be taken following the ruling.

He noted the ruling said the "principle" of sending migrants to a third country is "lawful".

"We have seen today’s judgment and will now consider next steps," the statement read.

"This was not the outcome we wanted, but we have spent the last few months planning for all eventualities and we remain completely committed to stopping the boats."

<h2>Rwanda govt says 'we take issue with this ruling'</h2>

Minutes after Wednesday's&nbsp;ruling, the Rwanda government issued a statement, saying it has taken exception to the ruling which defined the territory as "not a safe third country”.

"This is ultimately a decision for the UK’s judicial system," the statement reads.

"However, we do take issue with the ruling that Rwanda is not a safe third country for asylum seekers and refugees, in terms of refoulement. Rwanda and the UK have been working together to ensure the integration of relocated asylum seekers into Rwandan society.
