<p>Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar on Friday (May 24) said that attempts were made to frame the family driver in order to protect the 17-year-old accused in a <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/pune-porsche-crash-mother-of-teen-urges-police-protection-for-son-after-fake-rap-video-goes-viral-724887">horrific car crash</a> that killed two motorbike-borne people in the west Indian city.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The commissioner claimed that the family of the accused was trying to project that he was not at the wheel at the time of the accident.</p>

<p>According to the city police chief, an internal inquiry has indicated that there were lapses on the part of some policemen while registering the case and action will be taken against them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During a press conference, he said, "It is true that at the start the driver had said that he was driving the car. We are investigating this part and also under whose pressure the driver made that statement we are investigating it. Effort was made to change the driver during that period. We are investigating this also."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"During our investigation, it has clearly emerged that the juvenile was driving the car and we have already collected all the necessary chronological evidence. For example, when the juvenile left the house, the entry on the security register shows that he left the house with the car," he told reporters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He mentioned that the police already have the CCTV footage of the minor drinking liquor in the pub. "The point of saying this is that our case is not alone depending on the blood report, we have other evidence also," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The city police chief further noted that the minor accused was in his senses and it was not as if all of them were so drunk that they could not understand anything.</p>

<p>He said that they had "full knowledge" that because of their actions, the deadly accident happened.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kumar's comments came a day after reports emerged that the accused and his father Vishal Agarwal, a real estate developer, said that it was their family driver who was driving the Porsche.</p>

<p>The report said that the driver had apparently admitted that he was behind the wheel and two friends of the accused can also back up the claims.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pune Rural Police said on Wednesday (May 22), "NDRF, SDRF, local administration and police are deployed for search and rescue operations."</p>

<p>"Those feared drowned include three men, one woman and two children. This was a passenger boat regularly plying between Bhugaon in Karmala taluka Solapur and Kalashi in Indapur taluka of Pune. On Tuesday evening, the boat was coming from Bhugaon to Kalashi. There was rain and strong wind due to which the boat is believed to have capsized," an officer from Pune district administration was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.</p>

<p>The officer added: "Of the seven people on the boat, one of them, who is a police officer, managed to swim to safety. The water level in the dam backwaters is very low and because of that, there is a lot of silt, which we believe could have been a factor that posed a challenge for those who are feared drowned. The silt is also posing a challenge in the search operation by NDRF and SDRF."</p>

<p>He then said that India was severely affected by incidents related to terrorism ten years ago, but now the ones who sent the terrorists to the country are starving.</p>

<p>“We banned the PFI who indulged in violence in the country. Their bigwigs are now rotting in jail. For votes, Congress is taking their support in Kerala. You can't expect your well-being from such people,” PM Modi said.</p>

<p>A property dealer met a gruesome end at a highway restaurant near Pune, as captured by CCTV cameras. Avinash Balu Dhanve (34) fell victim to a fatal attack orchestrated by assailants suspected to be part of a rival gang, leading to a horrifying scene on the Pune-Solapur highway. The place of the incident was nearly 140 kilometres from Pune.</p>

<p>The assault unfolded amidst the presence of bystanders. This included a family with children as two perpetrators barged into the eatery. Dhanve was sitting with three associates and was engrossed in a phone call&nbsp;when he&nbsp;was ruthlessly shot in the head by a man in a yellow T-shirt and his aide.</p>

<p>The act was caught on CCTV cameras where the man in yellow T-shirt was seen taking the gun out of a white bag.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As soon as the bullets were fired, it prompted chaos. The associates of the property dealer fled the scene immediately.</p>

<p>Later, a group of six more attackers stormed into the restaurant and engaged in more violent attacks on the shot man. One of the attackers was wielding a machete to hack Dhanve. Meanwhile, others were also caught brandishing machetes in the footage now going viral on social media platform.</p>

<p>He was ambushed by three to four assailants in the Sutardara locality of Kothrud around 1:30 pm on Friday,&nbsp;the day of his wedding anniversary.</p>

<p>The chilling footage shows the assailants closing in on Mohol, with one firing at point-blank range, and another shooting him in the shoulder.</p>

<p>Following the attack, the gangster collapsed on the road. In the video, people at a nearby house are also seen rushing to their balconies after hearing the gunshots. The entire saga triggered neighbours to rush to the gangster's aid.</p>

<p>Despite their efforts, Mohol succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a private hospital in Kothrud.</p>

<p>One of the accused first fled with his mobile phone on the pretext of calling home and later when he was heading towards the police station to lodge a complaint about the stolen mobile phone, the other accused ran away with his bike on the pretext of helping him reach the police station and lodge a complaint in the matter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The victim had come to Pune around two months ago with a private job at Mhalunge MIDC and did not know the city well, said his brother-in-law.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to police, an unidentified person approached the complainant seeking help to call his home and claimed that he does not have his own mobile phone. The complainant with good intentions gave him his mobile phone to contact his family members. But the one seeking help was a thief as he ran away with the mobile phone.</p>

<p>In another incident, the victim who was unaware of the locality approached a person standing nearby to find the address of the local police station. The man&nbsp;assured him of help&nbsp;and said that he knows several policemen at the local police station.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In return, he asked the victim to get a cigarette for him. However, as the victim reached a nearby shop to get a cigarette the accused ran away with his bike.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The victim, later on, checked his phone and got to know that the man who fled with his mobile phone had made a Rs 3,000 money transfer through a UPI transaction.</p>

<p>Police have booked two unidentified men under Sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).&nbsp;Further investigations into the matter are underway.&nbsp;</p>

Double blow: Indian man robbed of phone loses bike to another thief few minutes later

<p>The Indian state of Maharashtra’s anti-terrorism squad (ATS) filed a chargesheet against Pune city-based Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientist, Pradeep Kurulkar who was allegedly lured by a Pakistani agent using the alias ‘Zara Dasgupta,’ reported PTI&nbsp;on Saturday (July 8).&nbsp;The DRDO scientist shared sensitive details about India’s missile systems as well as the country’s drone and robotics programmes with the female Pakistan-based intelligence operative, according to the charge sheet.</p>

<h2><strong>What did the ATS find&nbsp;about the case?</strong></h2>

<p>Kurulkar was arrested on May 3, on espionage charges while the charge sheet by the authorities in Maharashtra was submitted a week ago. The ATS has claimed that Kurulkar engaged in conversations with ‘Zara Dasgupta’ about Indian missile systems and other classified defence projects.</p>

<p>The now-former director of the DRDO (Engineers), the 60-year-old&nbsp;Kurulkar is currently in judicial custody. According to the ATS, Kurulkar and ‘Zara Dasgupta’ were in contact via WhatsApp and also via voice and video calls. In the chargesheet, the anti-terrorism squad claimed to have found “explosive” chats between the scientist and the Pakistani agent.&nbsp;</p>

<p>‘Dasgupta,’ who had claimed to be a United Kingdom-based software engineer, allegedly befriended Kurulkar by sending him obscene messages and videos. It was only after the investigation, that it was found that her IP address was tracked to Pakistan, said the ATS in the nearly 2000-page charge sheet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Kurulkar, who was attracted to her, stored the classified and sensitive information of DRDO on his personal phone and then allegedly shared it with Zara,” the chargesheet said, as quoted by PTI. The ATS also found chats which showed Kurulkar sharing his personal as well as official schedules and locations with her which he was not supposed to share with anyone.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>What did they discuss?</strong></h2>

<p>According to the charge sheet, Kurulkar chatted with the Pakistani agent about classified information regarding the BrahMos Launcher, Drone, Unmanned Combat Vehicles (UCV), Agni Missile Launcher and Military Bridging System, among other things.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The ATS also alleged that the Pakistani agent created multiple fake accounts to engage with Kurulkar two of which were under the names Zara Dasgupta and Juhi Arora. In his messages, the DRDO scientist spoke about, “BrahMos, Agni 6, Rustom (a medium-altitude long-endurance unmanned air vehicle), surface to air missiles, unmanned combat air vehicles, drone projects”.</p>

<h2><strong>About the case</strong></h2>

<p>The DRDO scientist was arrested, back in May, on allegations of espionage. In an official statement, he was accused of misusing “his post thereby compromising sensitive government secrets, which could pose a threat to India’s security if it falls into the hands of the enemy nation.”&nbsp;</p>

According to the ATS, the two were in contact from June 2022 to December 2022. It was not until DRDO initiated an internal probe after his activities were found to be suspicious, Kurulkar blocked Dasgupta’s number in February, earlier this year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During a forensic analysis of Kurular’s phone, experts at the DRDO also found malware and reported it to ATS. The DRDO scientist is currently in Pune’s Yerwada jail.&nbsp;<br />

The Indian state of Maharashtra’s anti-terrorism squad (ATS) filed a chargesheet against Pune city-based Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientist, Pradeep Kurulkar who was allegedly lured by a Pakistani agent using the alias ‘Zara Dasgupta,’ reported PTI on Saturday (July 8).

The DRDO scientist shared sensitive details about India’s missile systems as well as the country’s drone and robotics programmes with the female Pakistan-based intelligence operative, according to the charge sheet. What did the ATS find about the case? Kurulkar was arrested on May 3, on espionage charges while the charge sheet by the authorities in Maharashtra was submitted a week ago. The ATS has claimed that Kurulkar engaged in conversations with ‘Zara Dasgupta’ about Indian missile systems and other classified defence projects. The now-former director of the DRDO (Engineers), the 60-year-old Kurulkar is currently in judicial custody. According to the ATS, Kurulkar and ‘Zara Dasgupta’ were in contact via WhatsApp and also via voice and video calls. In the chargesheet, the anti-terrorism squad claimed to have found “explosive” chats between the scientist and the Pakistani agent. ALSO READ | India | DRDO espionage case: Who is Pradeep Kurulkar? It was only after the investigation, that it was found that her IP address was tracked to Pakistan, said the ATS in the nearly 2000-page charge sheet. “Kurulkar, who was attracted to her, stored the classified and sensitive information of DRDO on his personal phone and then allegedly shared it with Zara,” the chargesheet said, as quoted by PTI. The ATS also found chats which showed Kurulkar sharing his personal as well as official schedules and locations with her which he was not supposed to share with anyone. What did they discuss? According to the charge sheet, Kurulkar chatted with the Pakistani agent about classified information regarding the BrahMos Launcher, Drone, Unmanned Combat Vehicles (UCV), Agni Missile Launcher and Military Bridging System, among other things. The ATS also alleged that the Pakistani agent created multiple fake accounts to engage with Kurulkar two of which were under the names Zara Dasgupta and Juhi Arora. In his messages, the DRDO scientist spoke about, “BrahMos, Agni 6, Rustom (a medium-altitude long-endurance unmanned air vehicle), surface to air missiles, unmanned combat air vehicles, drone projects”. About the case The DRDO scientist was arrested, back in May, on allegations of espionage. According to the ATS, the two were in contact from June 2022 to December 2022. It was not until DRDO initiated an internal probe after his activities were found to be suspicious, Kurulkar blocked Dasgupta’s number in February, earlier this year. During a forensic analysis of Kurular’s phone, experts at the DRDO also found malware and reported it to ATS. The DRDO scientist is currently in Pune’s Yerwada jail. Honey-trapped DRDO scientist shared details about Indian missile systems with Pakistani agent

<p>In a chilling incident, a man, armed with a sharp machete, chased down and attacked a 19-year-old college student in Pune, a city in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. The incident could have taken a deadly turn, akin to the one reported in the capital city of&nbsp;Delhi a few weeks back, if it wasn't for the alertness of the locals.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The incident took place around 10 am in the morning near&nbsp;Perugate police chowki, the CCTV footage of which has gone viral on social media platforms.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The video clip shows the girl sitting on the pillion seat of a scooter with her friend when they are&nbsp;stopped by a man carrying a bag. As the girl's friend gets off the vehicle to confront the accused, the latter takes out the weapon from his bag and starts attacking the man, managing to slash him twice before chasing after the woman.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The girl,&nbsp;dressed in a salwar and suit with a bag on her back, assessed the danger quickly and ran for her life before the bystanders got involved and kept the attacker at bay. Eventually, the locals swarmed the attacker and held him until the police arrived.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"This morning, the youth approached the woman who was riding with a friend on a two-wheeler. As the man tried to talk to her, the woman refused to engage in a conversation. Angered by this, the accused whipped out a sharp weapon and attacked her," news agency PTI quoted the DCP of Pune Police as saying.</p>

<p>“The victim's male friend intervened and resisted the attacker and she managed to escape. The attacker chased her but was stopped by people in the vicinity."</p>

<p>The accused has been identified as 22-year-old Shantanu Laxman Jadhav, a resident of Mulshi. Both the accused and the victim were former classmates.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In May, a 20-year-old man identified as Sahil was arrested&nbsp;after he was caught on CCTV&nbsp;stabbing to death a 16-year-old girl in Delhi.</p>

<p>In the video, Sahil could be seen stabbing the girl more than 20 times as people walked past him, refusing to stop him from committing the crime. After multiple stabbings, Sahil picked up a big boulder nearby and used it to crush the poor girl's head.&nbsp;</p>
