<p>A Pakistani reporter has been slammed online after he raised an objection to the Pakistan women's football team payers wearing shorts during their matches in a tournament. The Pakistan women's team recently returned home after the end of their campaign in the ongoing South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women's Cup in Nepal where they earned their biggest in against Maldives.</p>

<p>Pakistan recorded a forgetful campaign in the SAFF Women's Cup but managed to end their tournament on a high by beating Maldives comprehensively by 7-0 in their last game. It was their first win in the tournament in eight years and the team was lauded by many for their superb performance.</p>

<p>They received a warm reception back home after recording their biggest win in the tournament but things soon turned sour for the players and the members of the support staff during the press conference back home. A reporter decided to focus on the kits of the Pakistani players instead of their performances and went on to ask an absurd question.</p>

<p>Raising an objection to the female players wearing shorts during the tournament in Nepal, the reporter asked head coach Adeel Rizki why the players didn't wear leggings during their matches in Nepal.</p>

<p>“As you know we belong to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan which is an Islamic country, I want to ask why are these girls wearing shorts, not leggings,” the reporter asked Rizki during the presser.</p>

<p>Clearly taken aback by the question, the Pakistan women's team head coach responded, "one has to be progressive".</p>

<p>“We have never tried to stop anyone as far as the uniform is concerned, it’s something we don’t control,” he explained.</p>

<p>In the audio leaked, Shaukat Tareen is heard giving instructions on writing a letter to the Federal showing the provinces' ineligibility to fulfil the commitments with the federal government in order to proceed with the IMF, owing to the flood situation. The Punjab finance minister is heard asking Shaukat Tareen, whether this would damage the state of Pakistan, KP Finance Minister also calls the move in his conversation as a blackmailing tactic.&nbsp;</p>

Pakistani Army divided over support for former prime minister Imran Khan: Report

<p>Pakistan's army on Monday said that an aviation helicopter lost contact with the Air Traffic Control while it was on flood relief operations in Balochistan.</p>

<p>The spokesperson of the Pakistan Armed Forces tweeted that ''6 individuals were on board including Commander 12 Corps.''</p>

<p>Pakistan's local media claimed that Director General Pakistan Coast Guard Brigadier Amjad Hanif Satti was also on board besides the Corps Commander Lieutenant General Sarfraz Ali and two majors.</p>

<p>Police official Pervez Umrani told news agency Reuters that the helicopter has been missing for over six hours and there has not been any trace of the chopper since a rescue operation began. He added that the search will resume on Tuesday morning after it was halted due to bad weather.</p>

<p>Calling the incident "alarming", Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif criticised provincial civilian officials over the lack of aid for people displaced by the floods.</p>

<p>According to the disaster management agency, southern Pakistan has been hit hard by floods after unusual monsoon rains that have killed scores of people and swept away hundreds of houses.</p>

<p>During natural calamities such as floods and earthquakes, civilian administrations depend on Pakistan's army heavily as it is the country's most powerful institution.</p>

<p>With at least 136 dead in Balochistan, above-normal monsoon rains and deadly flooding are wreaking havoc in the province which is rife with ethnic and sectarian violence.</p>

<p>Although no militant group has claimed responsibility for any attack on a helicopter in the region, intelligence officials are probing whether the incident was an attack or not.</p>

With captain Imran Khan missing, PTI govt in Pakistan loses trust vote

<p>After the National Assembly passed the no-confidence motion against the Imran Khan-led government on Sunday, the opposition party members hailed the achievement and noted that a “new chapter” is going to begin in Pakistan politics.</p>

<p>Immediately after the voting tally was announced, parliamentarian Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who conducted the no-confidence session after Speaker Asad Qaiser resigned, noted that the absence of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was felt by the opposition party members.</p>

<p>Leader of Opposition Shahbaz Sharif thanked every party member who voted to oust Imran Khan,&nbsp;saying that “the wishes of millions of people&nbsp;have been granted by the almighty”.</p>

<p>“We thank the people of Pakistan. Because of them, Pakistan will see a new chapter. We do miss Nawaz Sharif here,” he said.</p>

<p>Recalling the incident where the opposition party members were jailed months before the no-confidence voting, Sharif said, “These friends of ours have been sent to prison, and we will never forget it.”</p>

<p>After the cabinet approval, the prime minister is expected to send the reference for the advice of President Arif Ali, government sources said.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, a high-level meeting of the National Assembly Secretariat was held for consultation the on no-confidence motion, sources said.</p>

<p>The meeting was attended by Speaker Asad Qaiser, secretary and additional secretary, among other officials.</p>

<p>According to sources, Speaker Asad Qaiser has been advised to conduct the vote on no-confidence motion today (April 9) itself.</p>

<p>Earlier in the day, sources said, the Speaker had directed the staff of the National Assembly Secretariat to be ready for voting.</p>

<p>The government’s counsel has further asked the top court to suspend its ruling against the deputy speaker, who had rejected the no-trust vote in the lower house of the parliament.</p>

<p>"That the Honourable Bench of the August Court, despite its open court announcement/directions, has erred by not rendering any decision in the Presidential Reference No.01/2022 filed under Article 186 of the Constitution which was being heard along with the captioned cases and is of paramount importance," added the review petition.</p>

<p>The petition also pointed out that the procedure for a no-trust vote was elaborately provided in the Constitution and, therefore, "the honourable apex court is not entitled to micro-manage the affairs of the Parliament".</p>

<p>On March 8, the joint opposition, especially the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and the Pakistan Peoples Party — had submitted the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan.</p>

<p>According to the short court order, the PML-N leader was required to furnish two bail bonds worth Pakistani Rs 5 million each.</p>

<p>Shehbaz, the brother of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was arrested on September 28, 2020, in the money laundering reference after the LHC refused to further extend his pre-arrest bail.</p>

<p>He was first granted interim pre-arrest bail last year on June 3. After his arrest, he remained in the bureau's custody for 23 days till the trial court sent him on judicial remand on October 20, 2020.</p>

<p>Shehbaz Sharif, the former Punjab Chief Minister, is accused of accumulating assets worth Pakistani Rs7,328 million in connivance with his co-accused family members, benamidars, front persons and close associations and for developing an organized system of money laundering.</p>

<p>The anti-graft watchdog has nominated a total of 20 individuals in the reference - Shahbaz's wife Nusrat, his sons Hamza and Suleman, and daughters Rabia Imran and Javeria Ali.</p>
