Manchester United can ease supporters' doubts after a relatively quiet transfer window by producing the attractive football that has delighted them in the past, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said on Friday.&nbsp;

"There are always going to be fans out there wanting to sign players. The way we can clear doubts is by playing football, showing what the team want to be and the style of football we want to play," Solskjaer told reporters ahead of Sunday's Premier League match at home to Chelsea.

"When our fans see that intention they have always been supporting the team. Within the team and the club we are feeling very confident and we don't feel that negativity.

"There is money available when the right players are available. It's not about a quick fix, it is about a longer re-build. It's not time to change that attitude when you haven't got the correct answers from the players you wanted."

Lukaku, who did not take part in United's pre-season matches due to injury, was sold to Inter for a reported fee of €80 million ($89.60 million) on deadline day and Solskjaer said the transfer was a win-win situation for all parties concerned.&nbsp;

However, the Chilean may not feature against Chelsea after returning late following his participation in Copa America which ended last month.

"Alexis has come in and trained well... he's four or five weeks behind the boys and he has not played apart from the one behind closed doors here, I think he'll see this as an opportunity to make his mark," Solskjaer said.

Defenders Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are unavailable due to injuries, Solskjaer added, but Paul Pogba and new signing Maguire are fit to start.

Neville said that with the decline of traditional newspapers, players were inevitably going to be drawn to online and social media.

"The way in which players communicate with fans is through their social media accounts, it's never going to change, don’t try to stop it, maybe create some frameworks, some perimeters to work within.

"If you are a coach – move with the times, embrace it, accept it... it is not going to change, it is 2019 and not 2001 or 1996," he added.

But Neville said that players such as Lingard needed to consider carefully what kind of content they put out to their followers.

"I would like to think that someone is ringing him up this morning and explaining to him that that isn’t really going to help him," he said.

"He looks like he works really hard in every single game I have seen him. Why would you do something that is potentially going to bring you criticism?

"We all make mistakes, I have made loads, just be sensible, just make the right calls. Is it going to help me? Is it going to make me a better player? Is it going to make people feel better about me? Is it going to actually earn me money? Is it going to make my coach like me more or less?

"Ask yourself a few questions before you do things. If the answers come up negative then it’s probably best not doing it.&nbsp;It is just having that sort of mindset," he added.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must show he is not afraid to make big decisions and drop error-prone goalkeeper David de Gea for the final two games of the Premier League season, former England striker Ian Wright has said.

De Gea has made a number of uncharacteristic mistakes in recent games, including one that allowed Chelsea to equalise in Sunday's 1-1 draw that dented sixth-placed United's chances of finishing in the top four.

"The game is like a blip but it is the time before and after the game that I remember," says Phelan who recalls the massive following of United fans in the Dutch city and the strong characters in Ferguson's dressing room.

The likes of Bryan Robson, Steve Bruce, Gary Pallister, Paul Ince, Clayton Blackmore and Brian McClair made up a team that was the true start of the Ferguson era.

"We knew we had created another moment in history for the club – it was terrific. It was also a push towards better things – it gave us a hunger to know that we could compete again at that level and we definitely moved into another territory where we continually won things," he said.

Indeed, United were soon dominating English football and that success was to bring them up against Barca again in European competition.

Phelan was on the coaching staff in 2008, when United won a cagey, tactical two-legged Champions League semi-final encounter with Barca thanks to a wonderful strike from distance by Paul Scholes in the second leg at Old Trafford.

That set up the victory over Chelsea, on penalties, in the final in Moscow, as United won their second Champions League under Ferguson, following their memorable 1999 triumph against Bayern Munich -- at Barca's Nou Camp stadium.

But there are less positive memories from the two most recent clashes with the Spanish club -- a 2-0 defeat in the 2009 final and a 3-1 reverse in the 2011 decider when Pep Guardiola's former side again dominated.

"I think they were the best team in football at that time and led by an extremely good, up and coming coach, who has gone on to do even better," said Phelan.

"We were well beat, we had to take that on the chin. You try to be competitive – but our best wasn’t good enough," he added.
