A Judge has ruled that, for now, abortion pills will remain legal in the United States of Wyoming. The judge's ruling means that while a lawsuit proceeds, the state's first-in-the-nation law banning access to medical abortion medicine won't take effect on July 1st as planned. The ruling was given by Teton County Judge Melissa Owens.

This comes as Wyoming became the first US state to specifically ban abortion pills. Before this, many states have banned the medication de facto by prohibiting abortion.

Why did the judge stay the implementation of the abortion ban?

As per an AP news agency report, attorneys for Wyoming failed to show that allowing the scheduled ban would not harm the plaintiffs of a lawsuit currently in court.

Two nonprofit organisations, including a Casper-based abortion clinic along with four women — including two obstetricians — have sued to challenge the law banning abortion pills. They asked the judge to suspend the ban while their lawsuit plays out.

Months after being elected as president of the Cambridge Union for Michaelmas 2023, Max Ghose has resigned following allegations of rigging the ballot. An investigation carried out found "a number of irregularities" in the Easter 2023 election. Ghose had been accused of "stuffing ballots" to get a friend installed as his successor. According to a statement released by the Union, Charlier Palmer, the vice president, will serve as the president for Michaelmas 2023 in Ghose’s place. Rigging the elections The investigation into the issue was prompted by James Hardy, the deputy returning officer for the vote who wrote a letter to the review committee accusing Ghose, an Old Etonian, of one of “the most astonishing acts of electoral malpractice I have seen”. Reports state that when polls closed around 6 pm on Wednesday last week, Ghose, who was acting as chief returning officer for the vote, allegedly accessed the spreadsheet on which votes were stored. The results were to be announced on Friday but after allegations of voter fraud appeared, the Union released a statement confirming the delay in the publication of the final outcome. It cited a "potential irregularity in the electoral process" as the reason for the delay. Ghose's election victory In March, Ghose defeated David Eagleson with the poll plank of a “better and bolder union” in a landslide victory. “I’m delighted to have had such overwhelming support from the members. I’ve been given a mandate to deliver and I will do exactly that," said Ghose after the result. WATCH | Gravitas: Cambridge Union president Max Ghose rigged Easter Elections × Prior to his accession to the presidential post, Ghose was serving as the Union’s debates officer and vice-chair of the Cambridge University Liberal Association. Notably, this is not the first time allegations of corruption and ballot rigging have emerged in Cambridge Union elections. Last year's election also had allegations of electoral irregularities and the appointment process of Returning Officers was found to be “procedurally irregular”. The United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in its recent study stated that the sales of e-cigarettes spiked between 2020 and 2022.

According to the study published in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, the sales of e-cigarettes went up nearly 47 per cent, from the end of January 2020, just before the pandemic and December 2022, AFP reported.

The study stated that in January 2020, 15.5 million e-cigarettes were sold, while in December, sales rose to 22.7 million.

This spike for e-cigarettes in the United States comes as traditional cigarette smoking has reached an all-time low of about 11 per cent among adults in 2022, as the CDC data released in April stated.

What are vapes? Who is consuming it the most?

Introduced in the early 2000s, vapes came into the market as a replacement for cigarettes, a little less harmful, but are now turning youngsters to be addicts.

The health authority highlighted that the hike in vapes was especially for sweet flavours, mostly favoured by youngsters and young adults. Over 14 per cent of high school kids said that they had vaped in 2022, while the year before it, only 4.5 per cent of adults said that they had vaped.

"After January 2020, sales of mint and other flavored prefilled cartridges ceased, and disposable e-cigarettes in fruit, sweet, and other flavors increased," the study stated.

"Disposable e-cigarettes in youth-appealing flavors are now more commonly sold than prefilled units."

In a response to the study released by the CDC, anti-smoking non-profit Truth Initiative chief Robin Koval said, "The tobacco industry is well aware that flavours appeal to and attract kids, and that young people are uniquely vulnerable to nicotine addiction." She added that the authorities should work with even greater urgency to protect the nation's youth from all flavoured e-cigarettes including the disposables.

Sales Restrictions in some states

Though the two-year increase came despite the announcement made by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2020 stating that it would prioritise enforcing rules against unauthorised flavoured vaping products, given their appeal to teenagers and children.

The sales did decline by 12 per cent between May and December 2022.

However, the study said that states like Massachusetts have enforced a comprehensive flavour restriction and have experienced a large and sustained decline in overall e-cigarette sales.

It also found that the use of tobacco products among youngsters declined since flavoured tobacco products were restricted.

Following that, the journalist enquired if the IMF deal was "happening" and then went on to refer to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's meeting with the IMF chief, which had taken place on the sidelines of a summit in Paris. However, Dar didn't respond and remained silent.

Responding to the statement, the reporter then said: "we are not in the system" adding, "we just ask questions". By that time, Dar, who had reached the parking, turned around angrily towards Qureshi.

"What do you want?" he questions the journalist asking him to "fear the God".

Qureshi then asks the minister, "Why are you fighting, sir?". At this point, the minister’s security guards "intervened" reports Dawn, and the minister was escorted towards the vehicle.

Later, Shahid Qureshi released a video in which he detailed the whole incident and made some damning claims against the Pakistani minister and his security detail.

He said: "Today, immediately after the finance minister exited the NA, I was standing there. As a reporter and journalist who covers the economy beat, I asked him why the agreement with the IMF had not been finalised yet".

Reportedly, the Pakistani Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA) has since then issued a condemnation and said that a senior parliamentary reporter faced "violence by Ishaq Dar's guards". The statement labelled the incident "disrespectful behaviours" which they "strongly condemn".

The association, as per Dawn, has demanded that Dar apologise to the reporter. They also ask that there should not be a repeat of such "aggressive behaviour" by Dar. "If Dar does not apologises, the PRA reserves the right to walk out of the budget session and protest," read the statement. They also demanded that National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf take notice of the incident.

As a condition of the awards, restaurants are permitted to scoop the top prize only once. After it, they are entered into a separate programme "Best of the Best." According to this, Central moves into the Best of the Best next year.

The World's Best Restaurant Awards 2023 recently released a list of the best eateries across the world. Peru's capital, Lima tops the list with four restaurants in the list.

The World's Best Restaurant Awards 2023 recently released a list of the best eateries across the world. Peru's capital, Lima tops the list with four restaurants in the list. The awards were announced on Tuesday from the City of Arts and Sciences, designed by a very famous architect Santiago Calatrava in Valencia, Spain, CNN reported. The Peruvian capital has four spots on the list. At the top comes Central which is led by Virgilio and Pia Leon and has been serving fine Peruvian dishes for 15 years. Other three Peruvian restaurants that make up the list are Maido at Rank 6, Kjolle at Rank 28 and Mayta at Rank 47. Leon's Kjolle made it to the top 50 list for the first time. It is a solo venture. The 50 Best Restaurants website said Central "takes diners through 15 different Peruvian ecosystems, categorised by altitude – from 15 metres under the Pacific Ocean to 4,200 metres up in the Andes." It was also awarded the best restaurant in South America. The host country, Spain, too performed well in this year’s awards with six entries in the top 50 list, including Disfrutar in Barcelona at No 2, Diverxo in Madrid and Asador Extebarri in Axtondo at No 3 and No 4 respectively. From Europe, both Italy and France are also on the list, with five restaurants each. England's London also earned three spots. The US claimed two places, both restaurants being from New York. One of them bagged the eighth spot, while the other took the 44th place. The Atomix moved to eighth place this year from Rank 33 and was also awarded as the best restaurant in North America. In Asia, Bangkok's two restaurants appeared on the list for the first time, both in the Top 20 list - Le Du at Rank 15 and Gaggan Anand at Rank 17. As a condition of the awards, restaurants are permitted to scoop the top prize only once. After it, they are entered into a separate programme "Best of the Best." According to this, Central moves into the Best of the Best next year. The list of "Best of the Best " also includes Geranium and Noma in Copenhagen, New York’s Eleven Madison Park, The Fat Duck near London, Osteria Francescana in Italy, and Mirazur in Menton, France. Here's the complete list of the World's best 50 restaurants: 1. Central (Lima, Peru) – Best Restaurant in South America 2. Disfrutar (Barcelona, Spain) – Best Restaurant in Europe 3. PM Modi invites Micron Technology and Applied Materials to boost semiconductor manufacturing in India

Every year, June 21 is the longest day as it's time for the Summer Solstice. It is also the day when we internationally celebrate Yoga Day. As the name implies, it acknowledges the significance of yoga worldwide.

This date marks the official beginning of summer. But what exactly is the summer solstice, and what is its connection with Yoga? Check below:

What is Summer Solstice, and why is it the longest day of the year?

The summer solstice is the time when the sun is directly above the Tropic of Cancer and you have the longest daylight. The regions closer to the poles experience the most significant increase in daylight hours, which leads to the midnight sun, where the sun remains visible even throughout the night.

It happens when the Earth's axial tilt is most inclined towards the sun, resulting in the longest day and the shortest night of the year. It remarks on an astronomical phenomenon that has captivated civilisations throughout history.

Until now, the days have been getting longer and the nights, shorter. After today, this will be reversed, and each day will be a little shorter and each night will be longer.

It happens twice a year, one in each hemisphere (the Northern and Southern hemispheres).

However, the winter solstice is the opposite event, when we experience the dead of winter.

International Yoga Day was first introduced by Indian PM Narendra Modi in 2014 during his speech at the United Nations. He emphasised June 21 as the date to celebrate the occasion.

The connection between the two is simple, just two words: Surya Namaskar, or Sun Salutations. This traditional sequence refers to the sun as an integral part of the practice of yoga.

In yoga, the sun salutation means to awaken the body, align the mind, and tone, and activate one's brain, associating it with self-esteem, discipline, and motivation. So this date is just perfect.

Here's how Summer Solstice is celebrated in different countries:

In England, thousands of people gather at Stonehenge to witness the sunrise on this special day. The alignment of these stones creates a breathtaking spectacle as the sun's rays illuminate the site.

In Iceland's capital, Reykjavik, people celebrate this occasion with great enthusiasm. It is called the "Midnight Sun Festival," a time when the city experiences almost a full day of sunlight.

In Sweden, the summer solstice is one of the most cherished holidays. Everyone gathers to celebrate it by dancing, and nature and indulging in traditional delicacies such as herring and freshly harvested strawberries.

Camelot, the company operating the lottery system, has also been repeatedly asking all the customers to look for their respective ticket numbers to know who has claimed this life-changing money prize. Even if your ticket is lost, don't worry; the company has assured you that the person who thinks he or she has won the lottery can send in their requests in writing within 30 days, meaning you have time until July 5.

Andy Carter, Senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said, "We are desperate to find this mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings, this amazing prize could really make a massive difference to somebody’s life, and what a way it would be to enjoy this summer…and the next 30!"

He added, "Every single month for the next 30 years—that’s an incredible 360 months—will see the lucky winner banking £10,000 ($12,758), if only they would come forward!"

Customers can also check in for their tickets via the National Lottery app to look for all previous and lost lottery tickets.

Additionally, suggesting places to check in, Andy said, "Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags, and down the back of the sofa. We have the champagne on ice, and our fingers are crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win."
