Barely a week after announcing that Twitter will be making its source code public, some part of it has been leaked. The social media company has now launched an investigation to nab the person responsible, according to a Reuters report. In a legal filing, the Elon Musk-owned company claimed that 'various excerpts' of its source code, used to run the company online were posted on GitHub, a Microsoft-owned platform by a user named 'FreeSpeechEnthusiast'. The microblogging platform has requested US District Court for the Northern District of California to order Github to produce all information associated with the said user who posted the code without authorisation. Twitter filed the complaint last Friday and GitHub has since taken down the post. However, it remains unclear if the platform will be giving up the identity of the user. According to Twitter's internal investigation, the perpetrator responsible for the leak may have been a disgruntled employee who left the San Franciso-based company last year. WATCH | Twitter CEO Elon Musk to give stocks to employees at $20 dollar valuation × Twitter is after the person who leaked the code as it contained security vulnerabilities which could give hackers a backdoor pass into the system and threaten user data security. Notably, Musk, earlier this month took to his Twitter account to state that the company was making the source code public on March 31. “Twitter will open source all code used to recommend tweets on March 31st,” Musk tweeted. “Our “algorithm” is overly complex & not fully understood internally. People will discover many silly things, but we’ll patch issues as soon as they’re found! We’re developing a simplified approach to serve more compelling tweets, but it’s still a work in progress. That’ll also be open source,” he added. ALSO READ | Twitter to make its code used for recommending tweets public, says Elon Musk “Providing code transparency will be incredibly embarrassing at first, but it should lead to rapid improvement in recommendation quality. Following the massive success of 'Project Tiger' in India which has seen an exponential rise in the numbers of big cats, the Centre is mulling translocating a few of these majestic animals to Cambodia where it has become extinct. Cambodia last reported the sighting of a tiger in 2007 when it was caught on a jungle camera trap. After India successfully translocated a batch of African cheetahs last September, a memorandum of understanding was also signed with Cambodia in November to assist with the reintroduction of tigers in the Southeast Asian nation. “The translocation of our tigers to Cambodia is under consideration. This has never been done in India before, although we have been translocating tigers within the country as and when it has been required," said S P Yadav, member secretary, National Tiger Conservation Authority, referring to the translocation of tigers from Corbett (Uttarakhand) to Rajaji National Park. “We’ve sent a delegation there [Cambodia], they’ve sent a delegation here. We are examining the situation in Cambodia to see if tiger translocation can be done." The officer added that in order to make the translocation possible, the authorities are studying if the factors that led to the extinction of tigers in the first place were resolved or not. Next month will mark the 50th anniversary of Project Tiger which began in 1973 at the Corbett national park. The mystery has deepened over the missing of a severely disabled 6-year-old American boy, Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez, as it has now emerged that his parents, one of them of Indian origin, have fled the country. A missing alert issued by the police has now been changed to "Endangered Missing Persons Alert." The investigation began on March 20 when the Texan Child Protective Services received an anonymous tip that Noel has not been seen since November. The probe also found the other family members too had not seen him or his siblings.

Noel suffers from several serious disabilities including a chronic lung disease that requires medical treatment and occasional oxygen treatment.

According to police, on March 23, the police and CPS investigators found that Noel's four siblings, aged 7 to 11, and his half-siblings, 5-month-old twins, had been absent after their mother contacted their school to ask about enrollment. Rodriguez-Singh could not be reached again by police or CPS and seemed to be avoiding authorities, prompting an investigation into Noel’s whereabouts.

Connecting the dots:

The police then spoke with Noel's mother, Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, she said that he was in Mexico with his biological father. However, when investigators spoke to his father, he said he never had the opportunity to meet Noel, having been deported before his birth. This statement was later confirmed by Homeland Security.

'No physical evidence of Noel as a missing person'

Craig Spencer, Everman Police Chief said that the police don't have any physical evidence related to Noel's status as a missing person.

He said, "What I do know is that a 6-year-old, severely disabled boy cannot be accounted for and is missing, the mother has not been willing to cooperate with investigators to help us simply assure the child is safe and we desperately need the public’s help."

Noel's mother under the radar:

No specific details have yet been revealed but the police confirm that there had been prior investigations and actions against Noel's mother.

Police revealed that she had an extensive criminal history including alcohol-related offences.

Search for family and evidence continue:

The police along with CPS and the Department of Homeland Security are working to find Noel and the rest of the family stopped in Turkey or if their flight connected to India, where Cindy's husband is from.

The police added that there is no evidence that suggests that any of the other children are in danger and no reason to connect to the amber alert.

The Indian Tax Department recently made it mandatory for every citizen to link the Permanent Account Number or PAN to their Aadhaar Card last by March 31, 2023. In its tweet earlier this month, the tax department said that the process is compulsory for all under the Income Tax Act, 1961, NDTV reported. Here is a step-by-step guide for you to check the Aadhaar-PAN card link status online:

Since you are linking both your cards, you will have to visit the Income Tax e-filing portal to check the status of the card linking.

First, on the homepage click 'Quick Links,' then click on Aadhaar Status.

After this, a page will open which will have two fields where you need to enter PAN and Aadhaar numbers.

The server then checks the status, and a pop-up message will be displayed. If both Aadhaar and PAN are linked, the message will read, "Your PAN is already linked to given Aadhaar."

However, if both cards are not linked, then this message will appear, "PAN not linked with Aadhaar. Please click on 'Link Aadhaar' to link you Aadhaar with PAN."

But if the link is in progress, then the taxpayer will see this on his/her window, "Your Aadhaar-PAN linking request has been sent to UIDAI for validation. Please check the status later by clicking on 'Link Aadhaar Status' link on Home Page."

Another way for checking the status can be done by logging into the Income Tax portal and by doing the following steps:

After you login into the website, you need to visit the 'Dashboard' on the homepage and then click on the 'Link Aadhaar Staus' option.

You can also go to 'My Profile' and click on the 'Link Aadhaar Status' option.

If your Aadhaar is linked to your PAN card, then the Aadhaar number will be displayed. In case the two documents are not linked, the 'Link Aadhaar Status' will be displayed.

The website will also ask a check the status later if the request to link your Aadhaar with your PAN card is pending with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

The IT Department has also given a facility for checking the status through SMS. You need to send an SMS to 567678 or 56161. If the PAN is linked to the Aadhaar, then this message will be displayed, "Aadhaar is already associated with PAN in ITD Database." If not, then the message will read, "Your Aadhaar is not associated with PAN (number) in ITD Database. Thank you for using our services."

But if you're someone who is not able to link your PAN- Aadhaar due to a mismatch in name, phone number, or date of birth, you can correct your details in either your PAN or Aadhaar database such that both have matching details.

Amid heightened tensions between US-China, Apple CEO Tim Cook visited Beijing last week and praised the country for its innovation and long ties with the US. This was Cook's first visit to China since 2019. However, given the frosty relations between US and China, the visit's timing has raised a few eyebrows. The Apple boss was in the country to register his presence at the government-organised China Development Forum. "Innovation is developing rapidly in China and I believe it will further accelerate," Cook was quoted as saying by Chinese state media. “We have a very large supply chain in China. We also have a thriving App Store,” he added. Prior to attending the forum, Cook posted a picture of himself with the customers and staff at the Apple store in the shopping district of Sanlitun on Weibo - China's Twitter-like social media platform. With China Unicom, the country's third-largest wireless network operator announcing it expects to launch 6G technology by 2025, some experts are of the view that Apple is aiming to appease Beijing through Cook's visit and his words of appreciation. China is home to the world's largest internet user population and has been the biggest smartphone market for ages. Thus, despite the bitterness in US-China relations, Cook & Co. cannot afford to lose favour from Xi Jinping's authoritarian regime.
