Starting next month, Twitter users may have to shell out extra money to read news articles. Twitter boss Elon Musk on Saturday informed that the microblogging platform will allow media publishers to charge users to read their articles. Unlike buying an entire month or year subscription as is the conventional strategy employed by paywall publications, the users will be charged on a "per article basis". However, they might end up paying more if they do not avail the monthly subscription service, informed Musk. "Rolling out next month, this platform will allow media publishers to charge users on a per article basis with one click," tweeted Musk. "This enables users who would not sign up for a monthly subscription to pay a higher per article price for when they want to read an occasional article. On Friday, soon after the first-day testimonies in the Donald Trump vs E Jean Carroll civil rape trial ended, the former US president’s official website reportedly tried to discredit the rape accuser columnist.

According to a report in rawstory.com, an article by far-right blogger Jim Hoft, which claims to provide evidence that Carroll was never raped and instead accuses her of being a sexual harasser, was linked on Trump’s presidential campaign website.

Allegedly, the link was posted under the header: “ICYMI: ‘Trump Rape Accuser Admitted to Sexually Harassing Roger Ailes — Told Him He Was Her Future Husband’.”

The post and the article it was linked to are now missing from the Donald J Trump website. It could have been removed owing to a warning Trump’s lawyer received from a judge for the ex-president’s sensational posts on his social media website, Truth Social.

While the link for Hoft’s writing may have been removed from Trump’s website, the article itself is still available to the public.

In the article for “Gateway Pundit,” Hoft claims that Carroll, in an interview with Vanity Fair, admitted that she was never raped.

Citing the interview, he writes, “Back in June 2019, E. Jean Carroll sat down for an interview with Vanity Fair following her accusations against Trump. The incident, as per ABC News, occurred shortly after 11:31 pm local time, Friday (GMT 4:31 am, Saturday). Authorities from the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office report that they received a call about a harassment incident in Cleveland, Texas — around 55 miles (89 Kilometres) north of Houston.

Speaking to ABC News’ Houston station KTRK, Sheriff Greg Capers of the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office revealed that all the victims were shot “from the neck up almost execution style, basically in the head.”

Police believe the motive was a disagreement between the victims and the suspect, who had a habit of shooting his AR-15-style rifle in his front yard.

Capers told KTRK that the victims had asked the shooter to keep quiet as they had a sleeping baby.

“My understanding is that the victims, they came over to the fence and said ‘Hey could [you not do your] shooting out in the yard? We have a young baby that’s trying to go to sleep,’ and he had been drinking and he says ‘I’ll do what I want to in my front yard’,” said Capers.

At the time of the shooting, there were at least 10 people in the home. The youngest victim of the tragic shooting is an eight-year-old child.

Also among the victims are two females who, as per the ABC News report — in an apparent attempt to save them — were found lying on top of the two surviving children.

The suspect, as per authorities, is a Mexican male, armed with an AR-15-style rifle. He is believed to be in an intoxicated state. Police are looking for a Hispanic male with short black hair, approximately 5’8" tall. The suspect was reportedly last seen wearing blue jeans with a black shirt and work boots.

All of his victims are between the ages of eight and 40 years. Four victims were declared dead at the scene while another four died after being taken to the hospital.

Police haven’t revealed the identities of the victims or their relationship to the suspect, but said they are from Honduras.

“We are getting closer to him every minute of every hour, but we know who he is,” said Capers, adding, “he [the suspect] is from Mexico. The victims themselves were from Honduras.”

Authorities have advised locals to “stay inside, stay clear” of the crime scene until the investigation has concluded.

Ahead of Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto's India visit to participate in a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), WIONs Pakistan Bureau Chief Anas Mallick spoke to Hina Rabbani Khar, the country's minister of state for foreign affairs. When quizzed if the timing was right for Bhutto's visit, especially in the current politically charged climate, Khar said it was not an India visit, but an SCO visit.

"The most important thing to notice here is the chairperson of PPP has chosen to be the foreign minister of Pakistan and he takes his job very seriously, so what might not be the politically right thing to do, or the popular thing to do, but it is the correct thing to do as far Pakistan’s interests are concerned," said Khar in an exclusive interview.

"Within the same line, why the India visit? It is not an India visit, It must not be seen as an India visit. It’s an SCO visit. SCO happens to be an organisation - before [India and Pakistan] becoming full members , there was a precondition that bilateral disputes or issues should not come in the way of SCO work."

Germany currently has no plans to ban the export to China of chemicals used to manufacture semiconductors, officials said on Friday, a day after a Bloomberg report suggested such a move could be in the works and Beijing called it destabilising.

Carolyn Bryant Donham, the white woman who accused Emmett Till, a black teenager of whistling at her and causing his 1955 lynching in Mississippi passed away at 88. As per a death report filed on Thursday in the Calcasieu Parish Corner's Office, she died in hospice care on Tuesday night in Louisiana. Prosecutors sought charges against her for killing Till, 14, up until the year before her death. They failed to convince the jury that she should be put on a trial for "kidnapping and manslaughter." The Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley Institute in a statement following Bryant's death said, "We wish mercy on her soul, even as we regret that she never took responsibility for her role in Till's murder." Bryant's death closes the chapter of one of the most horrifying lynchings in US history.

Who was Emmett Till?

Born in 1941 near Chicago, Till had polio and then developed a stutter. He was 10 when he shifted to Chicago. He later was living with his mother's brother in the small Delta community of Money, Mississippi.

What happened in 1955?

On one summer day in 1955, Till went into a store in Money to buy bubblegum unaware of what was coming for him.

Bryant,21 then, was working alone in the shop while her husband, the shopkeeper was away, accused Till of making improper advances and harassing her while she was alone in the shop.

According to BBC, following Bryant's accusation, her husband Roy Bryant and brother-in-law JW Milam dragged Till from his bed at his uncle's home. They tortured him so badly that his face was unrecognisable when his corpse was recovered from the river three days later. He was even shot in the head and was tied to a 32kg fan.

Appealing for justice for her son, Till's mother Mamie Till Mobley insisted on keeping an open coffin for everyone to see what had been done to the little boy. Some media outlets even published photos of him that shocked the nation. Till's death sparked protests across the county where thousands of people urged for justice.

The two kidnappers were arrested over the murder but were released by an all-white jury. Later, in a magazine interview, they both admitted responsibility but said they had not done anything wrong.

During the trial, Bryant took the stand and testified that Till grabbed her hand and propositioned her. Years later in an interview in 2008, she said that part is not true. This sparked the Department of Justice to re-investigate the case but when asked she denied that she had lied during the trial.

The woman was never taken into custody over the events that led to the lynching of the young boy.

According to an unpublished memoir obtained by the Associated Press, Bryant wrote that she did not know what would happen to Till when she made her accusation.

In the United States, Till's death is also thought to have played a part in the congressional discussions that led to the 1957 Civil Rights Act, which increased African American voting rights in the country.

A new update in WhatsApp will now allow you to operate the messaging app on four phones or devices at once. The Meta-owned messaging application is rolling out across the world and will begin operating soon. Earlier, only one account could be operated from one mobile. Although, one could still open WhatsApp web on a web browser or your laptop/computer. The announcement for the new feature was shared in a blog post by the company mentioning that this feature will allow users to seamlessly continue message threads and access all their photos and other media details from multiple devices without compromising on security or privacy. It said, "We're improving our multi-device offering further by introducing the ability to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple phones." This means that at a given time, you'll be able to link four devices to one WhatsApp account, however, the primary phone would retain the power to authorise the login credentials.

Messaging for the app has also been simplified by connecting phones as companion devices, implying a user can choose to swap between smartphones without signing out from his/her primary device and continue chatting from where they left his/her previously.

WhatsApp Business in a tweet said, "A new way to better serve your customers just dropped Now you can enable up to 4 employees to connect to the same WhatsApp Business account, directly through their smartphones."

Here's your ultimate guide on how you can use WhatsApp on 4 different devices:

First, download the messaging app on your secondary phone. Open WhatsApp on the phone.

After opening the app, go to 'Settings.'

Select 'Linked Devices.'

After selecting this option, you'll see a bunch of instructions to verify your details. Follow those.

Use your primary phone's camera to scan the QR code from the secondary device.

As per media reports, soon instead of scanning a QR code, one can just enter the One Time Password (OTP) on their phone number to enable device linking.

But what if your primary phone is low on battery and switches off? Well, in this case, you don't need to worry as you can still access WhatsApp on a secondary phone. You can even do it if you don't have Internet access on the primary phone.

However, if the primary phone is "signed out," then all secondary devices will automatically be signed out.
