Explaining the reasoning behind his statement, Van Beek said he loved Test cricket and playing it but if the Dutch had the Test status, it would mean the likes of him and teammate Colin Ackerman would not be able to play county cricket or in New Zealand. "I think chasing Test status could hamper getting more players involved in the Netherlands. I think the beauty is, for me personally - like if the Netherlands had Test status, then I wouldn't be able to go back and play in New Zealand or Colin Ackerman they can't go play County cricket or anything like that." Van Beek said instead of chasing the test team status, T20 and ODIs should be prioritised while giving opportunities to players from countries around the globe to come and play for the Netherlands. "So I think the more we can, I guess at this stage, focus on the T20 and one-day cricket and give guys the opportunity to play in other leagues and around the world and give people in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh doesn't matter if they've got Dutch passports or if they want to play international cricket to come to the Netherlands do the qualifications like Teja Nidamanuru and Sybrand Engelbrecht have." Chasing a modest target of 246, the Proteas were all out for 207 and skipper Temba Bavuma wants that emotion to 'seep in.'</p>

<p>"You got to let the emotion kind of seep in," Bavuma said at the post-match presentation. "Don't think there is any point in trying to forget what's happened. It is going to hurt, it should hurt."</p>

<p>"But then you come back tomorrow, you wake up and we get back onto the journey. Our campaign is not over by any stretch of the imagination, but you got to feel the emotion of today and come back tomorrow with the head held up," he said.</p>

<p>"We were clinical against Australia, but the challenge was always to come back and replicate that performance. The fielding wasn't up to standard. Again if you look at the way we fielded against Australia compared to today, definitely not the same standard.</p>

<p>"Those are conversations we need to have. The guys need to answer the questions themselves where mentally they were. That's definitely not the standard we'd like to show from a fielding point of view."</p>

<p>South Africa had Netherlands on the ropes with six wickets down for 110-odd but a counterattack by Dutch captain Scott Edwards (78 off 69) took Netherlands to 245. South Africa were in tatters during the chase with five down for 89.</p>

<p>"I think we got them to 112 for 6. From that point, you are probably not looking at anything more than 200. We definitely dropped the ball there letting them get to 240-plus," Bavuma said. "With the batting, we were still confident in chasing down that score but we didn't get any partnerships. Them with their double-spin in the powerplay, was something we did not adapt to. Kudos to them, the way they were able to exploit certain weaknesses within our game."</p>

<p>Boult was at the long-off boundary and caught the ball but got disbalanced. The Kiwi fielder then tossed the ball up in the air, jumped over the boundary and came back inside the field to complete a fantastic catch.</p>

<p>Mitchell Santner played a blistering innings and then took five wickets to guide New Zealand to a convincing 99-run win over the Netherlands in a World Cup match in Hyderabad on Monday.</p>

<p>The 31-year-old left-hander clubbed a 17-ball 36 not out in New Zealand's imposing total of 322-7 before achieving figures of 5-59.</p>

<p>Santner, the first New Zealand spinner to take five wickets in a World Cup match, dominated the Dutch who were bowled out for 223 in 46.3 overs.</p>

<p>The victory gave New Zealand two wins in as many games after crushing title-holders England by nine wickets in Ahmedabad on Thursday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We did a great job batting first, built partnerships at the top and the bowlers did a fantastic job tonight," said Kiwis captain Tom Latham.</p>

<p>The Netherlands were never in the hunt in the chase as they lost Vikramjit Singh (12), Max O'Dowd (16) and Bas de Leede (18) in the first 17 overs with just 67 on the board.</p>

<p>Top-scorer Colin Ackermann, with a 73-ball 69, and Teja Nidamanuru (21) added 50 for the fourth wicket but Santner removed Ackermann and skipper Scott Edwards (30) to virtually end Dutch hopes.<br />

<p>Pakistan beat Netherlands by 81 runs in the ODI World Cup 2023 on October 6 in Hyderabad to start their campaign with a win. The victory was more hard fought than the 81-run margin suggests and the credit goes to Pakistan bowlers for taking their team home, especially Haris Rauf.</p>

<p>The pacer took three wickets in the match including a couple in the same over before sending the stumps flying of Netherland's last wicket Paul van Meekeren to light up the World Cup. It was a length ball from Rauf which came back in, missed the bat and hit the leg-stump, uprooting it and making it cartwheel as the bowler erupted in jubilation. <p>Chasing 287, Netherlands were in a decent situation with 120/2 in the 24th over before Shadab Khan got opener Vikramjit Singh (52) out. Rauf's double-wicket over shortly after put Pakistan on top and they made no mistakes after that. Netherlands' Bas de Leede continued to fight in the face of falling wickets, scoring 67 off 68 but didn't get the support from the other end.</p>

<p>Earlier, Pakistan were in a soup after losing the toss and batting first as they lost three wickets for 38 inside 10 overs including skipper Babar Azam. Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan, who both scored 68, then added 120 runs for the fourth wicket to provide some stability to Pak innings.</p>

<p>Bas de Leede then bowled a double-wicket over to rattle Pakistan but handy knocks by Shadab Khan (32) and Mohammad Nawaz (39) kept them in the game. de Leede returned once more and took two more wickets in one over again as Pakistan crossed 250 with two more wickets left.</p>

<p>Some lower hitting afterwards got Men in Green to 286 as they got bowled out in 49 overs - around 25 more than Netherlands would have liked to chase.</p>

<p>"It looks an incredibly good wicket," said Arthur. "The wickets we had for the warm-up games were brilliant and this pitch looks no different. It looks like a very, very good one."</p>

ODI World Cup 2023: Pakistan aim to start campaign win with against Netherlands

<p>Netherlands shocked Pakistan in the second game of the ODI World Cup 2023 as they claimed three early wickets in Hyderabad on October 6 after electing to field first. The Men in Green, however, dug deep afterwards with a partnership of 120 runs for the fourth wicket between Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The partnership was broken by Aryan Dutt in the 29th over when he sent back Saud Shakeel for a personal score of 68 and the team total of 158. Dutchman Bas de Leede then took wickets in the same over - a brilliant bowled to dismiss Rizwan (68) and getting Iftikhar Ahmed (9) out caught behind. The twin strikes undid all the work done by Rizwan and Shakeel, leaving Pak six down for less than 200 and 18 overs to go. Have a look at the wicket here:</p>

<p>Australia bowler Mitchell Starc took a hat-trick in the ODI World Cup warm-up game against Netherlands on September 30, showing that he's fully fit ahead of the quadrennial event. The game in Thiruvananthapuram was marred by rain but Starc's show will inject a lot of confidence in the Australian side who are dealing with a couple of injuries.</p>

<p>Starc bowled the first over in the Dutch chase, taking two wickets on the last two balls of the over before coming back and taking the third wicket on the first ball of his next over. <p>A 32-year-old resident, dressed in combat gear, has been arrested at the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam in connection to both incidents.&nbsp;Police officials said the suspect was a student at Erasmus University Medical Centre, where the shooting took place and the motive for the shooting was not clear yet.&nbsp;<br />

A 39-year-old woman and a 42-year-old teacher at Erasmus University were reported killed at two locations, said officials. The 14-year-old daughter of the woman, who was battling for her life in the hospital, also died.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The medical centre earlier posted an update on social media platform X that "due to various incidents, we currently ask you not to come to Erasmus MC".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The city police said in a statement on X: "The two shooting incidents in Rotterdam have resulted in fatalities. We will first inform family and relatives and will explain more later."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The authorities said that elite police units had burst into the hospital in the Dutch city searching for the suspect, who was armed with a handgun.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Citing police, the local news agency ANP revealed the age of the suspect and noted that the motive for the attack is unknown.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A Dutch government spokesperson told AFP that Zelensky’s flight landed around midday (1000 GMT). Meanwhile, the Ukrainian president announced his and his wife&nbsp;Olena’s arrival in the Netherlands, on social media and said, “Olena and I arrived in the Netherlands with the team.”</p>

<p>During his surprise visit, Zelensky met with outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte at a Dutch military air base in Eindhoven.</p>

<p>The Ukrainian president on social media also said, “The main issue is F-16 for Ukraine to protect our people from Russian terror. We are getting stronger.” Speaking about the agenda, he said that it includes the Global Peace Summit and bringing Russia to justice.</p>

<p>“The third point for today is absolutely historic, powerful and inspiring for us,” said the Ukrainian president during a joint press conference with Rutte. He added, “This is another step towards strengthening Ukraine's air shield.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier, Zelensky&nbsp;also inspected F-16 fighter jets which he had hoped to receive from the Netherlands during a visit to a Dutch army base.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Ukraine’s air defence push</strong></h2>

<p>In recent months, the Netherlands, together with Denmark, has led international efforts to train Ukrainian pilots for F-16 fighter jets ahead of delivering the jets to help counter the Russian air superiority, amid Moscow’s ongoing war in Kyiv.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the Ukrainian president, the planes would help strengthen Ukraine’s air defences and help its counter-offensive.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We are speaking about air defence, because we have the winter ahead of us and we understand more than anyone else in the world what winter without electricity is like,” said Zelensky, in the Netherlands.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Zelensky’s visit to Denmark</strong></h2>

<p>Hours after the meeting with the Dutch PM in the Netherlands, Zelensky landed at Skrydstrup airbase in southern Denmark, at around 1430 GMT, reported AFP.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Ukrainian president was greeted by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen and Defence Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen.</p>

<p>Frederiksen reaffirmed support for Ukraine and said it is ready to do so “for as long as necessary.” She also said that Denmark will deliver 19 jets in total, with the first six due to be shipped to Ukraine around New Year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This will be followed by eight in 2024 and five the following year, she added. “We know that your freedom is our freedom. We also know that you need more” weapons, said Frederiksen during a joint press conference with Zelensky.&nbsp;<br />

The Danish PM said over 70 Ukrainian military officials had arrived in Denmark for training. Ukraine said that it expects several dozens of pilots to be trained but it was not immediately clear how many pilots had arrived in Denmark.</p>

<p>A couple of days after the United States approved sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine from Denmark and the Netherlands, Kyiv announced training had begun for Ukrainian pilots on operating the planes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov in a TV interview informed about the training, adding that it would take at least six months or possibly longer to complete it. The training was to take place in Denmark and Romania, officials from a coalition of 11 nations had previously said.<br />
