The four-party coalition published its plan on Thursday which stated that the government would aim for the "strictest-ever asylum regime" with tougher border controls and stricter rules for the ones who arrive in the Netherlands seeking asylum.

"An opt-out clause for European asylum and migration policies will be submitted as soon as possible to the European Commission," the coalition says in its pact.

Wilders asserted that this would make the Netherlands a place that the asylum seekers are less attracted to, adding that "people in Africa and the Middle East will start thinking they might be better off elsewhere".

This would make the Netherlands the latest addition to the list of countries that have challenged the European Union's migration policy.

Earlier, Hungary and Poland's previous nationalist governments had announced a similar decision.

Reportedly, Brussels will probably oppose the move as the EU countries have already agreed on their migration agreement and usually the ones opting out of the pact are discussed during the negotiating phase.

"We have a new pact on migration and asylum, which has been voted upon and confirmed and therefore has to be applied," EU Commission spokesman Eric Mamer said at a press briefing in Brussels.

"This legislation will be applied and the commission will play its role in making sure it is."

The Dutch coalition parties said that the entry of foreign students to Dutch universities would become more stringent and that labour migration would also be restrained.

Carrying XR flags and placards saying "Stop fuel subsidies now!" and "The planet is dying!", activists were locked in a tense standoff with police who formed a wall of law enforcement.

They tried to block the A12 highway, which in recent months has been blocked multiple times by the demonstrators who demanded an end to fossil fuel subsidies.

Previously during protests, the police detained activists in another part of town, who were released without further consequences.

XR environmental group released a statement saying, "Meanwhile the ecological crisis continues to rage and the country's outgoing cabinet pretends that we have all the time in the world, while the crisis is now."

He previously has said that not only militants but "an entire nation" was responsible for the attack that took place on Oct 7 and that Israel will fight "until we break their backbone".

Herzog claimed that his comments were misrepresented and that only a part of what he said was cited in the lawsuit in order to frame a case against Israel before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The museum officials said that the invitation to Herzog was extended before the war broke out between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, in a continued effort to secure the release of hostages still held captive in Gaza, the Israeli spy chief met with his US counterpart on Saturday (March 9), Tel Aviv said.

"The head of the Mossad, David Barnea, met yesterday (Friday) with the head of the CIA, Bill Burns, as part of the ceaseless efforts to advance another hostage release deal," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said in a statement on behalf of the Mossad.

"Contacts and cooperation with the mediators continue all the time in an effort to narrow the gaps and reach agreements," said Mossad.

The statement comes amid mediators scrambling to secure a new ceasefire deal in the Gaza war before Ramadan which could begin as early as Sunday, depending on the lunar calendar.

"At this stage, Hamas is entrenching its positions like someone who is not interested in a deal and is striving to inflame the region during Ramadan at the expense of Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip," it said.

Mossad also stated that Hamas was aiming for unrest in the area to worsen during Ramadan.&nbsp;

Israeli officials have stated that the conflict between the warring sides would come to an end only with the defeat of the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

“Interest in this is growing, but it is still rare,” said Elke Swart, spokesperson for the Expertisecentrum Euthanasie which clears euthanasia wish of people in the Netherlands. About 1000 people are granted euthanasia every year.

“It is pure chance that two people are suffering unbearably with no prospect of relief at the same time … and that they both wish for euthanasia,” she said, as quoted by The Guardian.

The six conditions in case of which euthanasia is granted in the Netherlands include unbearable suffering with no prospect of relief and also an independent, long held wish for death.

Couples choosing the duo euthansia need to go through strict tests individually as&nbsp;they are not considered together while granting of euthanasia.

Duo euthanasia still represents small percentage. In the year 2022, it was 5.1 per cent of deaths in the country but many people reportedly express the wish.

The 1884 ‘Parsonage Garden at Nuenen in Spring’ which is worth approximately $6.8 million was unveiled for the first time after being retrieved by the Dutch police in 2023, three years after it was stolen.&nbsp;

The ‘Parsonage Garden at Nuenen in Spring’ was presented to the media on Wednesday at the Groningen Museum. However, the public will not be able to view the painting until 29 March.&nbsp;

The damage from the theft was still visible, reported AFP, describing it as a deep white scratch at the bottom of the canvas.&nbsp;

“I would call this a severe one because it goes through all the layers, the varnish, the paint layers and then into the ground layer, which is white,” the painting’s restorer, Marjan de Visser, told the news agency.&nbsp;

The painting was retrieved last year by the Dutch police thanks to a tip from an “art detective” named Arthur Brand after being stolen in a daring midnight heist in March 2020 amid the COVID-19 lockdown.&nbsp;

Brand played a pivotal role in the recovery of the&nbsp;139-year-old painting, orchestrating its return in an unexpected and remarkable fashion.
