<p>Elite rescue workers trained to recover survivors from natural disasters scoured the debris, with the help of sniffer dogs.</p>

<p>"I was asleep and suddenly there was this huge bang," Adam Muller, a 14-year-old local resident, told AFP.</p>

<p>"I looked out of the window and just saw flames. It's a massive shock," he added.</p>

<p>Authorities warned locals to keep their windows shut and shut off ventilation systems due to the smoke.</p>

<p>"Something collapsed but we didn't see where it came from. I know these neighbours. My kids go to school with them."</p>

<p>Hospitals in the area were on standby to treat victims.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Residents told local media the apartment block was mainly inhabited by elderly people and families with children.</p>

<p>China is ASML's third-largest market after Taiwan and South Korea, with Chinese companies accounting for about 20 per cent of its current order backlog. Following earlier restrictions, Chinese chipmakers are primarily buying older ASML equipment that isn't subject to export restrictions and is used to produce "legacy" chips vital to industrial manufacturing worldwide.</p>

<p>A video of the incident posted on X (formerly Twitter) showed&nbsp;that fans in the stands could not anticipate the scaffolding collapsing due to the heavy pyrotechnics smoke.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As soon as the heavy metal object fell down, the officials, players and fans could be seen running towards the stand to&nbsp;help those injured.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Five ambulances arrived at the park in&nbsp;Geesteren while a trauma helicopter was also called in as a precaution.&nbsp;Dutch media reports stated that 10 people had been injured and two were in a serious but not life-threatening condition in the hospital. Police initially cordoned off the area, before announcing it safe. The officials are now investigating the sudden collapse.&nbsp;</p>

Euro 2024: Dutch coach Ronald Koeman 'not happy with offside goal' being disallowed against France

<p>The man who was seen wielding an axe-like object before the Euro 2024 match between Netherlands and Poland on Sunday (June 16) has been charged with manslaughter. The development was shared in a statement by the Attorney General's Office in Hamburg on Monday (June 17).</p>

<p>Police shot the man in the leg after he did not drop the object which was defined as a pickaxe by the German police.</p>

<p>"The temporary confinement of the person concerned has just been ordered.</p>

<p>The Attorney General's statement also added that the case is&nbsp;now with the Central Office of State Security because of "the significance of the matter and the still unclear background of the crime".</p>

<p>The incident took place in the Reeperbahn district - a popular entertainment district in Hamburg's city centre where a police officer was initially attacked by the man. The area where almost 40,000 Dutch fans had gathered was subsequently cleared around 12:30 p.m. CET (6:30 am ET) before the security agencies shot the attacker.</p>

<p>Police said the man was also carrying an incendiary device, probably some kind of Molotov cocktail. The media reports said police used pepper spray against the attacker before deploying a firearm.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The motive of the attacker remains unknown at this stage but reports indicate that it was not related to football. The video clips of the incident have gone viral on social media and show the attacker attempting to charge at the officials who gave him ample opportunity to surrender before discharging their firearm.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sunday's incident is not the first violent incident to have rocked the Euros. On the opening night of the tournament on Friday (Jun 14), a knifeman in eastern Germany killed one person and severely injured two more at a Euros party ahead of the match between Germany and Scotland.</p>

The development was shared in a statement by the Attorney General's Office in Hamburg on Monday (June 17). The area where almost 40,000 Dutch fans had gathered was subsequently cleared around 12:30 p.m. CET (6:30 am ET) before the security agencies shot the attacker. Police said the man was also carrying an incendiary device, probably some kind of Molotov cocktail. The media reports said police used pepper spray against the attacker before deploying a firearm. The motive of the attacker remains unknown at this stage but reports indicate that it was not related to football. The video clips of the incident have gone viral on social media and show the attacker attempting to charge at the officials who gave him ample opportunity to surrender before discharging their firearm. Sunday's incident is not the first violent incident to have rocked the Euros. On the opening night of the tournament on Friday (Jun 14), a knifeman in eastern Germany killed one person and severely injured two more at a Euros party ahead of the match between Germany and Scotland.

<p>World leaders gathered for the two-day Ukraine peace summit at a Swiss Alpine resort over the weekend slammed Russian President Vladimir Putin and the terms he recently set out to stop the war. Kyiv has sought to use the second day of the major summit to pursue a broad consensus on condemning the Russian invasion and underscoring concerns about the human cost of the ongoing war.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>World leaders slam Putin</strong></h2>

<p>Leaders and representatives from more than 90 countries gathered at the Burgenstock resort in a show of support for Kyiv, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sought to rally support for an international agreement around a proposal to end the war that he could present to Russia.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“So far, the West has been ignoring our interests. While they forbid Kyiv to negotiate, they hypocritically call on us to start some sort of negotiations. It just looks idiotic,” said the Russian president.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The proposal was swiftly rejected by Kyiv and its allies.</p>

<p>Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called the Russian president’s plan “propaganda” that effectively suggested that Ukraine “must withdraw from Ukraine.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called it “dictatorial peace.”</p>

<p>The United States,&nbsp;represented by <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/at-ukraine-peace-summit-us-vice-prez-harris-announces-over-15-billion-in-aid-for-kyiv-732128">Vice President Kamala Harris</a> – a decision that had riled Kyiv – said that Putin is essentially calling for surrender.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She added, “Let nothing about the end of this war be decided without Ukraine.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, on Saturday, said Putin “made a mistake” by not attending the summit considering half of the United Nations was present.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“And the fact that Putin yesterday came out with this silly peace proposal shows you that he is clearly panicking. So that’s good news,” Rutte told reporters.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Kyiv seeks broad consensus</strong></h2>

<p>Most countries gathered have voiced strong support for Ukraine and demanded peace, while others have criticised Russia’s exclusion from the summit and warned Kyiv that it might need to compromise if it wanted to end the war.</p>

<p>The summit, which did not see participation from China and was called a waste of time by Russia, comes as Ukrainian forces have faced a series of setbacks on the frontline and the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza has diverted the world’s attention from Kyiv.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I am not affiliated to any party, I am not standing here in the name of the PVV... I want to be the prime minister of all the Dutch," Schoof, who has had no previous experience in parliament or in government, told reporters.</p>

<p>Election winner Wilders this month reached an agreement on forming the government with three other conservative parties, after ruling himself out of the top job.</p>

<p>Schoof, 67, is currently the senior official at the Dutch ministry of justice, after having led the intelligence agency AIVD and anti-terrorism agency NCTV for years. He was the head of the Dutch immigration service in the early 2000s.</p>

<p>"I guess it will be a surprise for a lot of people that I'm standing here... It's actually also a surprise for me," he told reporters.</p>

<p>In its governing plan published on May 16, the coalition said it would aim for the "strictest-ever asylum regime" with stronger border controls and harsher rules for asylum seekers, setting up a potential clash with the EU before even taking office.</p>

<p>Schoof will head a cabinet that the four parties have said would have looser ties to parliament. It could take weeks to put together, with the parties all negotiating over the portfolios and responsibilities.</p>

<p>Once he has formed a government, set to be the most right-wing in the Netherlands in decades, he will be sworn in by the king and officially become prime minister.</p>

<p>"Congratulations Dick. Dick Schoof has a great track record, is not a member of any party and thus stands above the parties, is honest and, on top of it, very friendly," Wilders reacted on social media X.</p>

<p>That government will, however, have to stick to the agreement reached by the four parties, which is aiming to secure exceptions on EU asylum and environmental rules.</p>

<p>Besides his experience at the intelligence and anti-terrorism services, Schoof has also worked on reforming the police force.</p>
