<p>Steven Bergwijn has hit back at Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman after closing the doors for the forward in the national team on Friday (Sep 6). Bergwijn, who moved to the Saudi Pro League (SPL) earlier in the month after signing for Al-Ittihad was criticised by Koeman, stating the move is unwanted for a 26-year-old footballer. The spat also saw Koeman publically close the doors for Bergwijn while the winger also now insists that he won’t play for the Dutch manager.</p>

<h2><strong>Bergwijn takes jibe at Koeman</strong></h2>

<p>"The national coach knows very well that the competition in Saudi Arabia is at a great level. Or are you only allowed to take such a step when you are 32?" Bergwijn questioned.</p>

<p>Bergwijn became the latest hot property in Europe to join the SPL having completed his move from Ajax. Considering the majority of the big-name players are heading to SPL in the twilight of their careers, the move from Bergwijn came as a surprise for many. The former Tottenham Hotspur forward has still got plenty to offer in Europe.</p>

<p>However, according to Koeman, the move to SPL was money-driven and had nothing to do with football.</p>

<p>"The book is basically closed to him. "When you are 26, your main ambition should be sporting, not financial. These are choices that players make," Koeman stated during a press conference.</p>

<p>The Dutch government will consider the economic interests of ASML when deciding on further tightening export rules for the company's chipmaking equipment to China, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said on Friday.</p>

<p>"We are in talks, good talks and we are also watching out very specifically for the economic interests of ASML, those need to be weighed against other risks and the economic interests are extremely important," Schoof said, responding to questions about potential new restrictions on ASML exports to China.</p>

<p>"ASML is for the Netherlands an extremely important, innovative industry that should not suffer under any circumstances, because that would damage ASML's global position," he added.</p>

<p>Schoof declined to comment on Bloomberg News reports from Thursday that suggested the Netherlands would impose further curbs on ASML's chip business with China.</p>

<p>China is ASML's third-largest market after Taiwan and South Korea, with Chinese companies accounting for about 20 per cent of its current order backlog. Following earlier restrictions, Chinese chipmakers are primarily buying older ASML equipment that isn't subject to export restrictions and is used to produce "legacy" chips vital to industrial manufacturing worldwide.</p>

<p>Previous Dutch rules mandated a licence for ASML's high-end products. In October 2023, the US began independently restricting ASML from exporting some mid-range tools—a move that stirred debate in the Dutch parliament.</p>

The Dutchman, however, was not happy with himself for dropping Mathews one over earlier. "He actually batted really well, but I had an opportunity to catch him… unfortunately, that cost us quite dearly. But yeah, I'm happy with the effort and I'm happy that it stuck," said Engelbrecht. Netherlands finished Group D at fourth place among five teams with one win and three losses in four games. Dutch skipper Scott Edwards acknowledged that his side unraveled despite being in strong position against South Africa and Bangladesh and hence the early exit from the tournament. "We had good patches throughout the tournament where we gave ourselves a chance to win at least three of those games, but just in those [big] moments, the batting or the bowling or the fielding was just slightly off and against good-quality sides, you just can't afford that," he said.

The Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders has reached an agreement to form a coalition. His party emerged as the clear winner in the elections last year. Gravitas | Geert Wilders: The new face of far-right Europe

Dutch nationalist Geert Wilders on Wednesday said a deal had been reached to form what was set to be the most right-wing government in the Netherlands in decades, almost six months after a major election victory. Watch in for more details!

Netherlands: Four right-wing Dutch parties announce deal, Dutch nationalist Wilders in focus

<p>The new Dutch government, which is led by nationalist Geert Wilders' PVV party, intends to opt out of the European Union migration rules.</p>

<p>This move by the incoming government will very likely provoke a conflict between Amsterdam and Brussels even before they take office.</p>

<p>Wilders, who emerged victorious in the elections that were conducted nearly six months ago, on Wednesday agreed to a deal to form a coalition with three right-wing partners.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He previously announced his decision to back out of the PM race, however, has not yet revealed his choice for the prime minister.</p>

<p>The four-party coalition published its plan on Thursday which stated that the government would aim for the "strictest-ever asylum regime" with tougher border controls and stricter rules for the ones who arrive in the Netherlands seeking asylum.</p>

<p>"An opt-out clause for European asylum and migration policies will be submitted as soon as possible to the European Commission," the coalition says in its pact.</p>

<p>Wilders asserted that this would make the Netherlands a place that the asylum seekers are less attracted to, adding that "people in Africa and the Middle East will start thinking they might be better off elsewhere".</p>

<p>This would make the Netherlands the latest addition to the list of countries that have challenged the European Union's migration policy.</p>

<p>Earlier, Hungary and Poland's previous nationalist governments had announced a similar decision.</p>

<p>Reportedly, Brussels will probably oppose the move as the EU countries have already agreed on their migration agreement and usually the ones opting out of the pact are discussed during the negotiating phase.</p>

<p>"We have a new pact on migration and asylum, which has been voted upon and confirmed and therefore has to be applied," EU Commission spokesman Eric Mamer said at a press briefing in Brussels.</p>

<p>"This legislation will be applied and the commission will play its role in making sure it is."</p>

<p>The Dutch coalition parties said that the entry of foreign students to Dutch universities would become more stringent and that labour migration would also be restrained.</p>

This move by the incoming government will very likely provoke a conflict between Amsterdam and Brussels even before they take office. Wilders, who emerged victorious in the elections that were conducted nearly six months ago, on Wednesday agreed to a deal to form a coalition with three right-wing partners. He previously announced his decision to back out of the PM race, however, has not yet revealed his choice for the prime minister. The four-party coalition published its plan on Thursday which stated that the government would aim for the "strictest-ever asylum regime" with tougher border controls and stricter rules for the ones who arrive in the Netherlands seeking asylum. "An opt-out clause for European asylum and migration policies will be submitted as soon as possible to the European Commission," the coalition says in its pact. Wilders asserted that this would make the Netherlands a place that the asylum seekers are less attracted to, adding that "people in Africa and the Middle East will start thinking they might be better off elsewhere". Also read: Germany: 3 killed, several injured after fire at a residential building in Düsseldorf This would make the Netherlands the latest addition to the list of countries that have challenged the European Union's migration policy. Earlier, Hungary and Poland's previous nationalist governments had announced a similar decision. Reportedly, Brussels will probably oppose the move as the EU countries have already agreed on their migration agreement and usually the ones opting out of the pact are discussed during the negotiating phase. "We have a new pact on migration and asylum, which has been voted upon and confirmed and therefore has to be applied," EU Commission spokesman Eric Mamer said at a press briefing in Brussels. "This legislation will be applied and the commission will play its role in making sure it is." The Dutch coalition parties said that the entry of foreign students to Dutch universities would become more stringent and that labour migration would also be restrained. (With inputs from agencies)
