<p>Earlier, a police statement said Tuli had made a video call to her friend Aditya ahead of taking the extreme step. During the call, Tuli reportedly threatened Pandit that she would commit suicide. Indian Express reported citing police officers that Tuli showed Aditya during the video call that she was about to hang herself.</p>

<p>The duo talked at least 10 times over the phone as Tuli was travelling to her home.</p>

<p>Pandit later reached Tuli’s home and found the place locked. Upon finding the 25-year-old woman unresponsive, Pandit took her to hospital. She was later pronounced dead by doctors at Seven Hills Hospital in Marol.</p>

<p>Police said Tuli could be mentally unstable owing to harassment by Pandit, who himself had been preparing for the pilot exam but failed.</p>

<p>“Pandit's arrest stems from his failure to alert the police about Tuli's threats and his decision to access her locked residence without police involvement. His position as the last person in contact with the deceased has raised suspicion about his potential involvement," the police stated.</p>

<p>The incident was reported at 5.56 am, a civic official said, adding a large number of people had gathered to board train 22921 Bandra-Gorakhpur Antyodaya Express on platform no. 1 at the Bandra Terminus.</p>

<p>The empty Antyodaya Express, having all 22 general class coaches, “was being backed on platform no. 1” at around 2.45 am, as per the railway sources.</p>

<p>Things got out of hand when passengers, who had queued up while waiting for the train, tried to board it when it was being taken to&nbsp;the platform from the yard with doors of the coaches locked from inside, they said.</p>

<p>In the attempt to board the train, some people fell on the platform when they came in between two coaches.</p>

<p>Prima facie, the people fell on the platform after colliding with the coaches or in the space between two coaches, the sources said.</p>

<p>“Normally, doors of the coaches are opened after the train makes a halt at the platform, and passengers then board in a queue,” a WR source said.</p>

<p>The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and local people immediately rushed the injured persons to the Bhabha Hospital.</p>

<p>Those injured have been identified as Shabhir Abdul Rehman (40), Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28), Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30), Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29), Sanjay Tilakram Kangay (27), Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav (18), Mohammad Shareef Shaikh (25), Indrajith Sahani (19), and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18), a civic official said.</p>

<p>Shahani and Noor Mohammad Sheikh were in critical condition&nbsp;at the hospital, a police official said.</p>

<p>Western Railway’s chief spokesperson, Vineet Abhishek, could not be reached for comments despite repeated attempts, and there was no official statement so far from the WR’s public relations department.</p>

<p>Following the incident, the Antyodaya Express left for its journey from the Bandra Terminus almost at the scheduled time.</p>

<p>During their investigation, officers examined Chakravarty’s vehicle, which led them to identify him and learn that he lived in Parel with his wife and daughter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We called his family to the police station. During the inquiry, Chakravarty’s wife revealed that he was under tremendous work pressure,” revealed one of the police officers investigating the incident.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Police further added, “We have examined Chakravarty’s mobile phone but have not found any notes indicating his intentions. Chakravarty was working as a manager at the bank’s Hutatma Chowk office in Fort. Over the weekend, he had even taken his family for a getaway to Lonavala. On Monday, he informed his family he was going to the office but instead went to Atal Setu and jumped off the bridge.”</p>

<p>Search teams have been deployed to locate the man in the sea.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is not the first incident at Atal Setu, previously, five cases of suicide attempts have taken place. In most of the cases, the victims&nbsp;were&nbsp;saved due to timely police intervention.</p>

According to an estimate, nearly 70,000 vehicles are expected to use the bridge every day. The Maharashtra government has decided to levy a toll charge of INR 250 for one-way travel. However, as per officials, the reduced travel time will help travellers save fuel costs by up to INR 500. The Atal Setu’s construction began in the year 2016 after PM Modi laid its foundation. It is the 12th longest sea bridge in the world. According to officials, the most advanced traffic management system has been installed on the Setu. Sanjay Mukherjee, the metropolitan commissioner of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, was quoted by ANI as saying, “The most cutting-edge traffic management system has been installed in this bridge. It can detect fog, low visibility and vehicles running beyond the stipulated speed limits, among other things." To maintain traffic flow, motorcyclists, autorickshaws, and tractors will not be allowed on the bridge and a maximum speed limit of 100 kmph has also been set. Along with inaugurating the Atal Setu on January 12, PM Modi is also expected to launch other projects in Navi Mumbai including a 9.2-km-long underground road tunnel connecting Eastern Freeway's Orange Gate to Marine Drive, costing more than Rs 8,700 crore. <p>Earlier on Monday (Oct 27), the Western Railway said 2,525 local train services will not remain operational till November 6.</p>

<p>The Western Railway had said that at least 230 to 316 Up (towards Churchgate) and Down (towards Virar/Dahanu) suburban trains will remain cancelled everyday till November 6.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A total of 93 'locals' will be cancelled on November 4 and 110 trains will be cancelled on November 5, the railway line added.</p>

<p>The Harbour Line is operated by the Central Railway, which caters to the eastern neighbourhoods of Mumbai alongside the city's natural harbour.&nbsp;</p>

India: Millions to be affected as hundreds of Mumbai local trains declared cancelled

<p>Police in India’s financial capital Mumbai apprehended four people for allegedly stealing a 6,000 kg iron bridge in a western suburb. The bridge was placed above a drain and was in use until April this year. However, when a permanent bridge was built there, the makeshift bridge was carefully placed in an empty area near Malad Back Road.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 90-foot-long iron structure was owned by Adani Electricity and was used to place heavy electricity cables, a police official was quoted as saying by India Today.</p>

<p>However, on one fine day in June, the bridge mysteriously disappeared, following which a police complaint was filed by Adani Electricity.</p>

<h2><strong>Iron structure valued at INR 200,000</strong></h2>

<p>The bridge was last spotted on the site on June 6; however, the FIR was only filed on June 26 following the revelation of the theft. The FIR report mentioned that the value of the stolen bridge is more than INR 200,000 ($2,420).&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per a report by The Times of India, the bridge was erected in June last year and was removed only after a permanent bridge was built by the authorities at the same location.</p>

<h2><strong>Four people held by police</strong></h2>

<p>As soon as the FIR was filed, authorities initiated an investigation to find the culprits. What made the case trickier was the fact that no CCTV camera was installed in the area where the bridge was placed to be carted away later. When police checked CCTV footage from nearby areas, they spotted a big truck going towards the Malad Back Road on June 11.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Further investigation led the police to track down the truck on the basis of its registration number and revealed that it was carrying gas-cutter machines, which were most likely used to dismantle the iron bridge.&nbsp;<br />

Shockingly, one person out of the four arrested turned out to be a worker of the same company which was hired by Adani Electricity to build the bridge.</p>
