<p>Berlusconi, whose death at the age of 86 was confirmed on Monday, reigned supreme at Milan from 1986 until 2017, during which time the club won 29 trophies, including five Champions League and eight Italian league titles.</p>

<p>The club said it was "grieving the passing of the unforgettable Silvio Berlusconi" as it led the tributes to its former owner.</p>

<p>Milan was a genuine passion for Berlusconi but his success as owner and the modern image he gave the club was a formidably effective communication tool that he used in the service of his business and political career.</p>

<p>Some of his teams made history, such as Arrigo Sacchi's revolutionary and all-conquering side of the late 1980s and his successor Fabio Capello's outfit which hammered Barcelona's "Dream Team" 4-0 in the 1994 Champions League final – the third European crown of the Berlusconi era.</p>

<p>During that period some of the game's greatest players wore Milan's famous red and black kit – from flying Dutchmen Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkaard to the likes of homegrown heroes Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini.</p>

<p>The van which exploded was parked in the corner of the street. The explosion of the van sparked a series of reactions setting five vehicles on fire.</p>

<p>According to an eyewitness, the driver of the van jumped out of the vehicle in the nick of time after he noticed that it has caught fire and hence, he only sustained injuries in his hand and leg.</p>

<p>As per reports, a nearby apartment building and pharmacy also caught fire.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the newspaper, around five cars and four mopeds were set alight. Before firefighters reached&nbsp;at the scene to tackle the blast, the city's Porta Romana area was&nbsp;cordoned off by police.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Any foul play was ruled out by the city's mayor Giuseppe Sala as he confirmed that no one was killed in the incident. "It's a van carrying oxygen cylinders,” he said. He added that only the driver suffered light injuries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sala said that the van's driver had informed the fire brigade that the fire started in the engine of the van he was driving. "He quickly grabbed the oxygen cylinders he was carrying ... He tried to limit the damage but then there was an explosion," the mayor stated.</p>

<p>The blaze was quickly extinguished by the firefighters as thick clouds of black smoke rose into the sky. Fire service officer Carlo Cardinali stated that oxygen cylinders were filled inside the van, however, they are investigating the exact cause of the blast.</p>

<p>"At the moment, only the driver" had reported injuries, he said, adding that he managed to escape with "light burns".</p>

<p>Meanwhile, a 39-year-old labourer who was working nearby, Giuseppe said, "I heard three big explosions and more that followed. I came straight away to see what was happening, and the whole street was on fire, people were running."</p>

<p>The footage shared by the fire service showed a powerful blast which burned out a dozen parked cars. Many canisters were visible on the street between the remains of a destroyed vehicle.</p>

Sala said that the van's driver had informed the fire brigade that the fire started in the engine of the van he was driving. "He quickly grabbed the oxygen cylinders he was carrying ... He tried to limit the damage but then there was an explosion," the mayor stated. The blaze was quickly extinguished by the firefighters as thick clouds of black smoke rose into the sky. Fire service officer Carlo Cardinali stated that oxygen cylinders were filled inside the van, however, they are investigating the exact cause of the blast. "At the moment, only the driver" had reported injuries, he said, adding that he managed to escape with "light burns". Meanwhile, a 39-year-old labourer who was working nearby, Giuseppe said, "I heard three big explosions and more that followed. I came straight away to see what was happening, and the whole street was on fire, people were running." <p>Arsenal defender Pablo Mari and five others were stabbed in a frenzied attack at a shopping centre near Milan, northern Italy.</p>

<p>One of the victims, who worked at the store, have reportedly succumbed to his injuries.</p>

<p>According to reports, the incident took place in a Carrefour near Milan at 5.30 pm on Thursday.</p>

<p>A 46-year-old man reportedly entered a store, took a knife that was placed on the shelves, and started stabbing people. The attacker was later stopped by the customers who were successful in overpowering him.</p>

<p>Police have arrested the man and taken him into custody. They are yet to determine the cause of the attack. The Italian media reported that the attacker had been mentally unstable for long.</p>

<p>All of the victims have been taken to hospital. Mari is said to have sustained minor injuries in the back while three others are in serious condition.</p>

<p>Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said Mari "seems to be ok". "He is in hospital. I will get a briefing now about what happened."</p>

<p>Arsenal issued a club statement on Thursday night, saying, "We are all shocked to hear the dreadful news about the stabbing in Italy, which has put a number of people in hospital including our on-loan centre-back Pablo Mari.</p>

<p>"We have been in contact with Pablo's agent who has told us he's in hospital and is not seriously hurt.</p>
