A U.S. Marine formerly stationed at Camp Pendleton is now in federal custody, charged with stealing weapons of war — including a shoulder-fired missile system — with the intent to resell them in Arizona, according to court documents.

Cpl. Andrew Paul Amarillas is accused of using his position as an ammunition technical specialist at the School of Infantry West at the San Diego base to access and steal military property, including at least one Javelin missile system, military-grade ammunition and other weapons-related material, between February 2022 and November 2025.

<p>The Green Water 01 is a massive 10,000-ton+ fully electric vessel that is now a benchmark in sustainability in the marine logistics industry, and the services have already begun in China. As for now, regular operations are set to take place between Shanghai and Nanjing. The route covers close to 1,000 kilometres without needing recharge anywhere in the middle, along the Yangtze River.</p>

Greenwater 01 is 120 metres long and 24 metres wide, with a battery capacity of 50,000 kWh, which can be expanded up to 80,000 kWh if need be. This is also the reason why the batteries are placed in particular containers that can be charged in the harbour or exchanged by cranes.</p>

Given the battery-electric drive, the container ship is expected to save 3,900 kilograms of fuel per 100 nautical miles (185.2 kilometres) and reduce CO2 emissions by 12.4 tonnes. <p>An international team of scientists has made a significant discovery, identifying more than 100 potentially new species residing on seamounts off the Chilean coast, as reported by Voice of America (VOA).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The UK Met Office said that temperatures in the North Atlantic in May were around 1.25 degree&nbsp;Celsius (2.25 Fahrenheit) above average.</p>

<p>“The eastern Atlantic, from Iceland down to the tropics, is much warmer than average. But areas around parts of north-western Europe, including parts of the UK, have among some of the highest sea-surface temperatures relative to average,” Stephen Belcher, the Met Office’s chief scientist, said in a&nbsp;statement.</p>

<p>Other factors that also may play a role include a lack of dust from the Sahara, which usually helps cool the region by reflecting away sunlight.</p>

<p>“Weaker than average winds have reduced the extent of dust in the region’s atmosphere potentially leading to higher temperatures,” Albert Klein Tank, the head of the Met Office Hadley Centre, said in a statement.</p>

<p>“Weaker winds may also have helped increase temperatures, as strong westerly winds typically cool the ocean surface,” Rantanen said.</p>

<p>A rare species of deep-sea dragonfish was recently discovered nearly 1,000 feet below the ocean surface, called the twilight zone, off the coast of northern&nbsp;California.</p>

<p>The discovery of the elusive creature has caused excitement among the scientists who say that this particular dragonfish is incredibly special.</p>

<p>"In more than three decades of deep-sea research and more than 27,600 hours of video, we've only seen this particular species four times!" the post by Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) reads in Twitter.</p>

<p>The video shows the highfin dragonfish, also known as Bathophilus flemingi, swimming in the deep sea.</p>

<p>The drangon fish, with its bronze metallic hue, appears like a torpedo failing through the air, the clip shows.</p>

<p>Named after the mythical creature, the torpedo-shaped fish is a predator that roams the depths of the ocean, according to reports.</p>

<p>The fish can grow up to 16.5cm in length and has long thin rays for fins. Scientists claim that the wing-like filaments can detect vibrations and can alert the fish of oncoming predators and prey.</p>

<p>The dragonfish uses a sit-and-wait tactic in which it hangs motionless in midwater and waits for unsuspecting crustaceans and fish to feed on, according to MBARI.</p>

<p>It also uses a bioluminescent filament that extends from its chin.</p>

<p>“It uses that to attract prey that see the spot of glowing light and get drawn to it because they think it’s something small enough that they can eat,” Bruce Robison, a senior scientist at MBARI&nbsp;told&nbsp;Live Science.</p>
