<p>As per a report by CNN, Najafov and some of his friends were exploring the coast of Mexico in August 2019 when they spotted a great white shark swimming close to their boat with a mysterious bite mark on its side.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I was really surprised since I never saw something like this in my life. The bite mark was so huge on a huge shark," Najafov said as quoted by CNN Travel.</p>

<p>"I have been working with sharks and shark content for many years, I have a lot of experience in this niche. I know for sure when I see something rare, I have never seen such a huge shark scar," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In his Instagram post, Najafov had shared some detailed pieces of information as he evaluated if this was a mating scar or act of aggression.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In his post, he mentioned the inputs given by a scientist Dr Tristan Guttridge, who said he would "rule out mating probably" due to position of the mark.</p>

<p>"I'd rule out mating probably due to position as the wound looks like it's healed a fair bit and although mating scars can be nasty they are more superficial than that," Guttridge was quoted as saying in the Instagram post.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The shape of it to me likely indicates a bite from another shark - seems a bit extreme for defence but it's a large shark itself so predation from another shark seems a bit extreme for defence but it's a large shark itself so predation from another shark would also be unlikely hmmmm…got me thinking I sent to Michael Domeier for his thoughts - my feeling is attack from another shark," he gave his valuable take on the bite mark.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A total of 44 percent of the plastic litter is related to take-out food and drinks. This includes single-use bottles, food containers and wrappers, and plastic bags.</p>

<p>As per the researchers, measures to cut down on plastic pollution are welcome. However, they also recommend eradicating plastic from take-out food and drink.</p>

<p>Greenpeace activist Elena Sakirko told Reuters the full results of samples taken from the site were not yet known and that it was premature to put the cause down to algae blooms known as "red tides".</p>

<p>"The second point is that if this definitely was algae and we see evidence of this then the question arises: what caused such algae activity."</p>

<p>"As a rule these red tides happen in the waters that are the most polluted," she said.</p>

<p>Russia`s Investigative Committee, a law enforcement agency which opened a criminal case over the pollution, said they were treating algae as the most likely cause.</p>

<p>However, this wasn’t easy, as whale sharks are endangered creatures, making it harder for scientists to even trace them.</p>

<p>Two dead specimens were held in Taiwan and Pakistan, where the tests were then conducted.</p>

<p>Even though it might be a stretch, Dr Meekan also believes that the sharks could go on living for as many as 150 years!</p>

<p>“The absolute longevity of these animals could be very, very old, possibly as much as 100-150 years old”, he told BBC.</p>

<p>“This has huge implications for the species. It suggests that these things are probably intensely vulnerable to over-harvesting”, he added.</p>

<p>As the largest fish in the world, whale sharks can weigh 20.6 tonnes (20,000&nbsp;kgs) and can grow up to 32 feet!</p>

<p>According to Sevilla, diplomatic efforts would be made to ask these fleets to leave. “Unchecked Chinese fishing just on the edge of the protected zone is ruining Ecuador’s efforts to protect marine life in the Galápagos,” he said.</p>

<p>Marine life in the Mediterranean off Italy flourished during the coronavirus lockdown as water quality improved and species moved into spaces vacated by people and ships, the Italian coastguard has found.</p>

<p>The strict rules halting business and movement for two months offered an unprecedented opportunity to monitor the impact of human activity on the sea that surrounds Italy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Since April, the coastguard has used water samples, underwater footage filmed by remotely operated vehicles and its own divers, and a census of unusual sightings of marine species close to heavily populated areas to monitor the sea.</p>

<p>A pod of sperm whales was spotted in the blue waters of the Sicilian sea near the port of Milazzo and dolphins replaced container ships in ports in northwestern Liguria.</p>

<p>"The marine environment and marine life have regained spaces that human activity had eroded," Mino said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the COVID-19 pandemic is posing new threats, with masks, gloves and hand sanitizer bottles increasingly found in the sea.</p>

<p>The so-called "COVID waste" is adding to marine pollution made up of microplastics - tiny particles from the breakdown of everything from shopping bags to car tyres.</p>

<p>Since July 2019, the coastguard has recovered 75 tonnes of plastic and 5 tonnes of abandoned plastic nets.</p>

<p>Coastguard spokesman Cosimo Nicastro said he was optimistic the lockdown had given people more understanding of how fragile the environment is.</p>

<p>"This patrimony of beauty has been given to us on loan from our parents and we must preserve it and give it to our children and future generations. It is not something that belongs to us," Nicastro said.</p>

<p>Talking to ANI, Haaziq Kazi said, "I watched some documentaries and realised the impact waste has on marine life. I felt I had to do something. The fish we eat in food are eating plastic in the ocean so the cycle of pollution comes to us and that is even affecting human lives. Hence, I came up with ERVIS."</p>

<p>Explaining about the functions and features of ERVIS, Haaziq said, "The saucers use centripetal force to suck in the waste, which is then segregated between water, marine life and waste. Marine life and water are sent back to the ocean, while the waste is segregated into five more parts."</p>

<p>Haaziq who has also presented his idea on an international platform through various platforms like TedEx and Ted8 has been appreciated by many international scholars and organisation.</p>

<p>He has claimed that his designed ship has the machine in its base which sucks the plastic from the ocean and segregates it according to its size. As per his design, there is a sensor or mechanism on its bottom which detects marine life, water and plastic while passing on from the ocean and accordingly it segregates it.</p>

<p>Haaziq said the idea to design a ship came to his mind when he was nine-years-old.</p>

<p>He thought of doing something for marine life. After he watched several documentaries, he came across few facts about damage caused to due to plastic and pollution.</p>

<p>Presently, Haaziq has been working with different people, organisations and forums to create public awareness for highlighting the hazards of ocean plastic pollution and measures to prevent it.&nbsp;</p>
