<p>The film is set in the late 1930s and early 1940s and tells the story of an eponymous young playback singer. The film will take the audience&nbsp;through the protagonist's "tragic past and the ways in which it catches up with her, causing her to unravel at the peak of her hard-won success".</p>

<p>In the film, fans will get to witness the emotional journey of Qala who navigates professional successes while battling&nbsp;personal demons.</p>

<p>The psychological drama is helmed by Anvitaa Dutt and stars Triptii Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee, Amit Sial, Neer Raao, Avinash Raj Sharma and Ashish Singh.&nbsp;Meanwhile, Karnesh Ssharma has produced the project under the banner of Clean Slate Filmz.</p>

<p>Sharing her excitement on social media, Priyanka posted a picture of her boarding pass and wrote,&nbsp; "Finally..going home after almost 3 years" She also added a red heart&nbsp;emoji in the caption.</p>

<p>After tieing the knot with Nick Jonas, Priyanka has mostly lived in the US. She also had several Hollywood projects in her kitty, which kept her in London for months. Between welcoming her daughter Malti via surrogacy and fulfilling her professional duties, the actress didn't have any time to return to India. And, she had to wait for three years to book her flight back to Mumbai.</p>

<p>Back in May, it was reported that Priyanka is expected to return to India in September for 'Jee Le Zara' shoot. However, Alia Bhatt's pregnancy led to a delay in the film's shooting schedule and Priyanka also got a few more weeks to spend with her husband and daughter in the US. Now, it seems that the actress has more reasons than one to make her way back to her Mumbai home.</p>

<p>India's Bollywood film industry, long part of the cultural fabric of the movie-mad country of 1.4 billion people, is facing its biggest-ever crisis as streaming services and non-Hindi language rivals steal its sparkle.</p>

<p>The South Asian giant churns out on average around 1,600 films each year, more than any other country, traditionally headlined by glitzy Bollywood, with fans worshipping movie stars like gods and crowds thronging premieres.</p>

<p>But now cinemas have fallen quiet, even in Bollywood's nerve centre of Mumbai, with box-office receipts plunging since Covid curbs were lifted.</p>

<p>"This is the worst crisis ever faced," veteran Mumbai theatre owner Manoj Desai told AFP. Some screenings were cancelled as the "public was not there".</p>

<p>The usually bankable megastar Akshay Kumar had three back-to-back films tank. Fellow A-lister Aamir Khan, the face of some of India's most successful films, failed to entice audiences with the 'Forrest Gump' remake 'Laal Singh Chaddha'.</p>

<p>Of the more than 50 Bollywood films released in the past year -- fewer than normal because of the pandemic -- just one-fifth have met or surpassed revenue targets, said media analyst Karan Taurani of Elara Capital. Pre-pandemic it was 50 per cent.</p>

<p>In contrast, several Telugu-language aka Tollywood movies -- a south Indian competitor to Hindi-language Bollywood -- have soared to the top.</p>

<p>Embarrassingly, around half the box-office takings for Hindi-language films from January 2021 to August this year were dubbed southern offerings, said State Bank of India's chief economic adviser Soumya Kanti Ghosh in a recent report.</p>

<p>"Bollywood, after decades of storytelling... seems to be at an inflection point unlike any other disruption it has faced before," Ghosh wrote.</p>

<p><strong>- 'Out-of-touch' -</strong></p>

<p>Bollywood, like other movie industries, has been hurt by streaming's rise, which started before the pandemic but took off when millions of Indians were forced indoors.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Around half of India's population has access to the internet and streaming services, including international players such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ Hotstar have 96 million subscriptions, according to a government estimate.</p>

<p>Some films released during the Covid shutdown went straight to these platforms, while others hit small screens just weeks after debuting in theatres.</p>

<p>With streaming monthly subscriptions lower or comparable to the cost of one ticket -- 100-200 rupees ($1.20-$2.50) at single-screen cinemas and higher at multiplexes -- price-sensitive audiences were avoiding theatres, analysts said.</p>

<p>Times have been so hard that INOX and PVR, two of India's biggest multiplex operators, announced their merger in March to "create scale".</p>

<p>Subscribers were meanwhile exposed to local and global streaming content, including southern Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada-language films that already had legions of devoted local fans.</p>

<p>In just a few days 'Vikram Vedha' will hit the theatres and fans will get to see Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan share screen space, once again,&nbsp;after almost two decades. Promotions for the film are going on in full swing and recently, both the stars along with the&nbsp;director duo Pushkar-Gayathri reached Gurugram to talk about their Hindi debut movie and answer some pressing questions.</p>

<p>When asked about their most memorable behind-the-scenes moments from the shooting days, director Gayathri shared, "I have something. They nearly enjoyed working in all of the scenes but in one scene, I sensed an inherent joy. There is a scene where they had to eat kulcha nihari. So, they were in tight diet and they workout and all. And, while eating that I could see a soulful joy coming out of their eyes."</p>

<p>To which Said humorously added, "Lucky, not too many takes. We tried to get it right the first time."</p>

<p>Talking about the film's box office clash with Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan 1', director Pushkar said, "We do our part, they do their part. So, I hope people go and watch both movies. I will be going and watching that (PS 1) for sure." To which, Hrithik added, "I have not read the book so for me it's just 'Vikram Vedha'. That's all"</p>

<p>The director also shared how the Hindi version of 'Vikram Vedha' is different from the 2017 Tamil film and revealed why he chose to remake it in Hindi. Giving an example of Arthur Miller's play 'Death of a Salesman', Pushkar stated, "That play has been staged 200 times, 500 times all over the world. The text remains the same but when you bring in a fresh set of actors, the whole production changes and what we see on the stage changes too. So we approached the idea of doing the film again like that. The text remains the same, which is the script that we wrote long back but Hrithik and Saif bring their own flavour to the roles."</p>

<p>To which, Gayathri added, "Every day on the shoot, we never felt like we are recreating a scene. We had long discussions with actors, how they look at a scene. And that has been the most exciting part of the film. If you see the film, the soul is the same but the movie is completely different from the first film."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hrithik agreed with the husband-wife director duo and said, "There were so many times when we found ourselves stuck, we used to think what to do next, how to get to that beat. Even though the film is already made and we could recreate the same thing but that's not where we were coming from. Oftentimes, we would find motivations that would propel Vikram and Vedha," while adding, "we were creating and not recreating."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, rumours were also rife that Hrithik and Saif are not promoting the film together due to some differences. But, it was recently&nbsp;revealed that it was all part of the marketing strategy as the two stars share a camaraderie like none other. When the press asked them about their experience of working with each other, they only had words of praise to say.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking about Hrithik's good looks and dedication, Saif said, "I was both excited and nervous to work with Hrithik. I have seen his films and sometimes it is very difficult to look at anything else. There could be beautiful girls around him or a serene sunset on screen but you can’t stop looking at this man. You know what I am talking about. So, I thought I might be in a lot of trouble because people would wonder why he has done a film with Hrithik when everybody will just look at him. But in all seriousness, he is a brilliant actor and it was fun."</p>

<p>Hrithik, on the other hand, complimented Saif for his calm and composed nature. He also shared that he appreciates&nbsp;how blunt and straightforward his co-star is. "I never have to guess what's going on in his head because he speaks his mind all the time. I really want to be like him. <p>Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's latest picture with his stunt double from the sets of Ayan Mukerji's sci-fi action film 'Brahmastra Part-1: Shiva'&nbsp;is currently getting viral on social media. Taking to Instagram, Shah Rukh Khan's stunt double, Hasit Savani shared the picture which he captioned, "A real pleasure to be the stunt double for the legend, Shah Rukh Khan, for his cameo sequence in Bollywood film Brahmastra."</p>

<p>In the picture, the 'Don'&nbsp;actor could be seen posing with Hasit in his 'Brahmastra'&nbsp;look on the film sets. Shah Rukh Khan's cameo role in 'Brahmastra'&nbsp;gathered a lot of appreciation from the netizens. The actor was seen playing the role of a scientist, Mohan Bhargav, in the sci-fi action film, who was the keeper of 'Vanar Astra'.</p>

Nagesh Kukunoor to direct 'Trail of an Assassin' based on Rajiv Gandhi's assassination

<p>Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt along with director Ayan Mukerji have made a special announcement for their fans via an Instagram post&nbsp;on Tuesday.&nbsp;Through a video message, they have shared that they will be keeping a&nbsp;special fan screening of their upcoming sci-fi action 'Brahmastra Part-1: Shiva'&nbsp;on September 8, i.e. a day prior to the film's official release.</p>

<p>They decided to keep the fan screening on 8th September because that is&nbsp;Ranbir's lucky number.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the now-viral video, the trio can be seen sitting inside a cinema hall where they watched their film 'Brahmastra'&nbsp;for the first time together. The film's crew was also present in the theatre.</p>

<p>Director Ayan Mukerji shared in the video that the special screening of the film is planned in Mumbai, where the star cast will be watching the film along with their fans.</p>

<p>Delhi High Court has restrained the unauthorised streaming of upcoming film 'Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva', scheduled to hit the theatres on September 9, by several "rouge" websites, saying piracy has to be curbed and dealt with a heavy hand.</p>

<p>Justice Jyoti Singh passed the ex parte interim order on a lawsuit by Star India Pvt Ltd, co-producer of the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer film, while noting that the availability of the film online at the same time as its theatrical release or in close proximity of the release would severely impact the producers&nbsp;financially and also erode the value of the film.</p>

<p>"There is no gain saying that piracy has to be curbed and needs to be dealt with a heavy hand and injunction against screening of copyrighted content by rogue websites ought to be granted... Plaintiff has made out a prima facie case for grant of ex parte ad-interim relief,"&nbsp;said the court in its order dated September 2.</p>

<p>"Defendants No. 1 to 18 (rogue websites) and all others acting for and/or on their behalf are restrained from in any manner hosting, streaming, retransmitting, exhibiting, making available for viewing and downloading, providing access to and/or communicating to the public, displaying, uploading, modifying, publishing, updating and/or sharing on their websites through the internet or any other platform, the film 'Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva' and contents related thereto, so as to infringe the Plaintiff's copyright therein, till the next date of hearing," the court ordered.</p>

<p>The court directed the 'Domain Name Registrants' to suspend/block the domain names registrations of the rouge websites named by the plaintiff. It also asked the Centre to issue necessary notifications calling upon the internet service providers to block access to these websites.</p>

<p>"Looking at the investments made by the plaintiff in the production and promotion of the film as also the exclusive right vested in it under the provisions of the Copyright Act, this Court prima facie agrees with the plaintiff that if the rogue websites communicate the film in any manner, on any platform, simultaneously with the theatrical release of the film on 09.09.2022 or in its close proximity thereafter, it would severely impact the interest of the plaintiff monetarily and will also erode the value of the film," the court opined.</p>

<p>Seeking relief, the plaintiff argued that any hosting, streaming, reproduction, and distribution of the film without authorisation would infringe its copyright and adversely impact its business.</p>

<p>The court also issued summons on the lawsuit by the plaintiff and listed the case for further hearing on November 29.</p>

<p>Meghna Gulzar's 'Raazi' may have earned critical and box office success when it released in 2018 but it went completely unnoticed during the National Film Awards that were announced in. Writer Harinder Sikka, on whose book, the film was based- feels that 'Raazi' did not win any award because the makers tampered with the original story.&nbsp;<br />

"Meghna did a blunder with <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/entertainment-raazi-review-alia-bhatt-vicky-kaushals-film-serves-as-a-textbook-example-on-how-to-make-espionage-films-sans-jingoism--136082">'Raazi' </a>which is why she did not get a National Award. In fact, I was backstabbed by them(Meghna Gulzar and Gulzar)," says Sikka as he spoke exclusively to WION recently.&nbsp;<br />

Based on the author's bestseller 'Calling Sehmat', the film had Alia Bhatt playing Sehmat an undercover spy from India who marries into a Pakistani Army family in order to relay information to India, prior to the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.&nbsp;<br />

Sikka's book was based on a real-life Kashmiri woman who dedicated her life to India. But the author feels that while the book sends out this important message- the film's ending completely derails the message that he had intended to convey.&nbsp;<br />

Sikka feels that had the ending been according to the book- 'Raazi' would have definitely won National awards. "I had told people soon after watching the film that it will not win the National Awards. That's what happened eventually. With 'Calling Sehmat' I was sending a message that Kashmiris are not traitors. But in the film, you brought her back as a depressed person. That was a negative ending."<br />

Sikka states that he had promised Gulzar to let his daughter direct the film. His only condition was that Alia Bhatt should play the lead role. "I appointed Meghna for the film and signed the dotted line only when they agreed to my conditions. &nbsp;The screenplay was to be cleared by me. I took an active part but at the same time trusted Meghna as she had done a lot of research around the book and impressed me with her talk."</p>

Had I been invited I would not have let this happen. I watched it after the film got released. Meghna kept telling me that I will show it to you but it never happened. She knew that if I had watched, I would have raised objection about the ending."<br />

The author, whose first produced film 'Nanak Shah Fakir' won three National Awards in 2016, feels that the ending of 'Raazi' completely went against its case in front of the National awards jury. "The last scene made all the difference in the mindset of the people," he added.&nbsp;<br />

The writer, whose new book 'Vichhoda' is set in partition era, spent 8 years researching on 'Calling Sehmat' and felt cheated when the film did not end the way he had envisioned it. "A writer is like a mother to a story. You disown that mother- you ruin the child. That's what they did with 'Raazi'."<br />

Sikka though adds that the film was a commercial success because the first 1 hour of the film was gripping and Alia Bhatt delivered a compelling performance. "She put the film together through her innocence through her eyes, through her looks. She was fantastic."<br />

He alleges that the director did not speak to him post the film's release.&nbsp;<br />

Did he express his concerns to Gulzar later, we asked. Instead of answering, the author asked "I am eager to know- who tried to delay the publishing of 'Calling Sehmat'? Who tried to stop my inclusion at the Jaipur Literature Festival?"<br />

The writer states that what happened with him is a common practice in Bollywood where once the story rights are given to makers, writers seldom have a say in the screenplay. But he feels that the practise needs to end and for that questions need to be raised.&nbsp;</p>

He has already submitted the final draft of one book, and is on the verge of completing 'Remembering Sehmat' - a sequel to 'Calling Sehmat'.&nbsp;<br />

An ex-Navy officer, Sikka has served as a journalist during the Kargil war and is now a communication director of a leading corporate conglomerate. He writes to spread the message of peace, he says. "I took 20 lakhs less when I sold the rights of 'Calling Sehmat' to Junglee Pictures. I gave all the money to charitable organisations. Vijay wanted me to resemble her as closely as possible. She [Jayalalithaa] endured a drastic physical transformation in her life. Having grown up as a Bharatanatyam dancer, she had an hour-glass figure. Then, when she joined politics, she had an accident which demanded that she be injected with huge doses of steroids. While we could not depict all of that, we did take measures [to resemble her during these phases]."</p>

<p>Kangana has previously spoken about her struggle with gaining weight and as she had to play the role of Jayalalithaa, she had to look like a woman with a round face with a voluptuous body, unlike her tall and slender frame. The actress gained six kilos for the part and said, "That was needed so as to look voluptuous, especially around the belly and thighs. Since I am tall and skinny, and my face is angular, not round, I had to take mild doses of hormone pills to look different. Of course, I also started eating foods that promote weight gain."</p>

Kangana also revealed that the makers of the film sought aid from Jason Collins, who has worked on the prosthetics for big-ticket Hollywood action films like ‘Blade Runner 2049’ and ‘Captain Marvel’. She said, "His team made a structure that was suitable to make me look voluptuous. During the portions showcasing her as a young politician, we aimed to only make my face look fuller. As for the rest of the body, it took the team seven hours each day to acquire the look. The hands had to be re-done, and different kinds of pads were used for different parts of the body."</p>
