A day later, the fire and rescue department’s state director said that the landslide came down from an estimated height of 30 metres above the campsite, and covered an area of about one acre, according to a report by CNN.

Eight people are still reported to be missing.&nbsp;More than 600 personnel from teams led by the fire and rescue department and the police force are involved in the search and rescue operations, AFP reported.

There were more than 90 people at the campsite when the landslide struck, officials said on Wednesday, adding that over 60 campers were found safe or rescued.&nbsp;

Authorities said the organic farm (where the campsite was located) did not have a licence to run a campsite and its operators will be punished if they broke the law.

Landslides are common in Malaysia post heavy rainfall that is regular at the end of the year. However, the campsite area did not see any heavy rainfall on the night of the disaster.&nbsp;

Colombia had been hit by an unusually heavy rainy season, blamed on the La Nina weather phenomenon.

Events linked to heavy rains have killed more than 216 people and left 538,000 homeless so far in 2022, according to government statistics. Another 48 people are still missing across the country, the figures show.

At least 27 people were killed while many more were injured after a road in northwest Colombia was severely affected by a landslide. President Gustavo Petro took to Twitter on Monday to offer his condolences to the victims and said that a bus and other vehicles were trapped in the ruble.&nbsp;

"It is with sadness that I must announce that, so far, 27 people, including three minors, have lost their lives in the tragedy" that struck on Sunday in a remote area of the Pueblo Rico municipality, Petro said.&nbsp;

There were several people trapped as a result of the landslide on Sunday and the rescue operations were underway. Three people were declared dead within hours of the operation and several were injured but Reuters reported that multiple teams were deployed in the area by the government.&nbsp;

According to a survivor called Andres Ibarguen, the bus tried to dodge the ruble caused by the landslide but was still trapped. "Part of it was coming down and the bus was a little&nbsp;bit back from that. The bus driver was backing up when it all came crashing down," Andres Ibarguen told radio station Lloro Stereo.&nbsp;

The bus had 25 passengers on board and other vehicles were also trapped due to the landslide.&nbsp;

AFP reported that Colombia is currently experiencing the worst monsoon in around 40 years and the rainfall has proven tough for the infrastructure to control. Government data showed that several roads were impacted by the rainfall and at least 270 people have lost their lives.&nbsp;

"JCB driver Manoj Kumar's body has been retrieved while we see two more bodies of engineer Sachin and a policeman Yaqoob. We have rescued another man, Ravi Roy, from the debris. 10 to 15 others sustained minor injuries in the two landslides," said&nbsp;Kishtwar SSP Shafqat Bhat.&nbsp;

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh informed the media that the rescue team deputed to the accident spot had also been trapped in the debris, suggesting that the extent of the landslides was much more dangerous than first anticipated.&nbsp;

"Spoke to DC Kishtwar, J&amp;K on receiving report of a fatal landslide at the site of under-construction Ratle Power Project. JCB driver unfortunately died. Rescue team of about six persons, deputed to site after the incident, has also got trapped under the debris," the minister told news wire agency ANI.&nbsp;

Monsoon-triggered flash floods and landslides have wreaked havoc in Nepal and claimed more than 35&nbsp;lives and displaced thousands in the past week.

In the worst-hit northwest Karnali province, thousands of residents were evacuated after their houses destroyed.

Officials are still searching for 22 people missing across the province, even though they have been facing difficulty in carrying out rescue operations in the mountainous region amid the inclement weather.

'We have mobilised police officers on the ground. We have arranged a helicopter for air rescue from Surkhet," said one police spokesman, quoted by the Annapurna Post.

"However, unfortunately, due to the weather not improving, progress is not being made as expected."

Most cases of missing people have been reported from the low-lying Kalikot district.

Meanwhile, Nepal’s emergency authorities have sounded alarm in some areas of the province which lie near the Karnali river, whose water level has touched the dangerous 12m (39ft) level.

The incident took place at Tupul yard railway construction camp in Noney district on Wednesday night. Around 20 people were rescued from the rubble on Thursday morning, while officials are racing against time to find more buried people.

Evacuation of critically injured is in progress but bad weather and fresh landslides are hampering rescue operations, the North-East Frontier Railway CPRO said in a statement.

The Indian Army has been dispatched to join the search, but officials were not optimistic.

The chances of the remaining people surviving are very thin considering the fact that the landslide occurred around 2 am, Haulianlal Guite, District Magistrate of Noney district in Manipur, told Reuters by telephone.

This month unprecedented rains have lashed India’s northeastern states and neighbouring Bangladesh, killing more than 150 people.

“We're working hard but because of rains &amp; other factors, this happened. It is the main Tulum station where train was supposed to stop. Maybe because of heavy on-going work, some seismic disturbance may have taken place. 13 bodies yet taken out,” DGP P Doungel told ANI news agency on Wednesday evening.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh visited the affected site to take stock of the situation and assured to press more personal for the rescue operation.

“Visited Tupul to take stock of unfortunate landslide situation. I’m thankful to Hon’ble HM Shri Amit Shah Ji for calling me to assess the situation &amp; assured all possible assistance. A team of NDRF has already reached the site for rescue operation," tweeted Singh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he is in touch with the minister and is constantly monitoring the situation.

"Spoke to Manipur CM N Biren Singh and reviewed the situation due to a tragic landslide. Assured all possible support from the Centre. I pray for the safety of all those affected. My thoughts are with bereaved families. May the injured recover soon," Modi tweeted.
