On September 7, the Vikram Lander will make a soft landing on the Moon at 1:55 AM.

Earlier today, Chandrayaan-2 successfully completed Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) manoeuvre&nbsp;at 9:02am. With this, Chandrayaan-2 has&nbsp;successfully inserted into the moon's orbit.

ISRO also informed that all the systems of Chandrayaan-2 are healthy.The next Lunar bound manoeuvre is scheduled on August 21.

Important step in landmark journey to Moon: PM Modi on Chandrayaan-2 entering lunar orbit

Chandrayaan-2 headed onwards on its path to the moon after the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) early Wednesday successfully carried out a crucial process to manoeuvre India's second lunar probe out of the earth's orbit.&nbsp;

The space agency said as planned it carried out the manoeuvre called Trans Lunar Insertion (TLI) at 2.21 am today.&nbsp;

"The final orbit raising manoeuvre of Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft was successfully carried out today at 02:21 am IST. During this manoeuvre, the spacecraft`s liquid engine was fired for about 1203 seconds. With this, Chandrayaan-2 entered the Lunar Transfer Trajectory," ISRO said in a statement.

The Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft is expected to reach the moon's orbit on August 20The spacecraft's liquid engine will be fired again to insert the spacecraft into a lunar orbit.

"Following this, there will be further four-orbit manoeuvres to make the spacecraft enter into its final orbit passing over the lunar poles at a distance of about 100 km from the Moon`s surface," the space agency said.&nbsp;

On September 7, the spacecraft's lander, Vikram, is expected to soft-land on the south pole of the moon and unleash the rover to explore the surface.

"The health of the spacecraft is being continuously monitored from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX) at ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru with support from Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) antennas at Byalalu, near Bengaluru," ISRO said.&nbsp;

Since its launch by GSLV MkIII-M1 vehicle, all systems onboard Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft are performing normal, the space agency said.

According to him, there is both convenience and science involved for choosing the South Pole.

"From the science point of view, the South Pole is under shadow region more than the North Pole, so because of this special aspect of the South Pole, water is expected to be more there and also more minerals are expected to be there," he added.

"Whole country is waiting for this Chandrayaan-2 mission, yes ISRO has slipped (dates) many times, now ISRO has firmed up the date of launch, it is July 15 early morning at 2:51," Sivan told reporters.

He said the lander and rover will have the mission life of 1 lunar day (14 earth days) and the day of landing (September 6 or 7) will be the beginning of the lunar day.

"For one lunar day this lander and rover will be functioning and carry out scientific experiments," Sivan said.

The orbiter will be going around the moon for one year, he added.

Chandrayaan 2 will also have the credit of being India's first interplanetary mission to be steered by two women- with M Vanitha as Project Director and Ritu Karidhal as Mission Director.

Chandrayaan will carry 13 Indian payloads (8 on orbiter, 3 on lander and 2 on rover) and one passive experiment from NASA.

The mission cost of Chandrayaan-2 with regard to the satellite was Rs 603 crore, Sivan noted.

The cost of GSLV MK III is Rs 375 crore.

According to ISRO, Orbiter, with scientific payloads, would orbit around the moon.

Lander would soft-land on the moon at a predetermined site and deploy the Rover.

Chandrayaan-2 is an advanced version of the previous Chandrayaan-1 mission, which was launched about 10 years ago.

"Composite Body will be travelling for 5 days from near earth to near moon covering 3.8 lakh Km distance and reach near the moon," he said.

"Again a retro-burn will happen and Composite Body will be established in the orbit of the moon," said the chairman.

"At an appropriate time, the lander will separate from the orbiter and lander will be set in action, using propulsion system to reduce its orbit and will stay for 4 days," Dr Sivan said.&nbsp;

"Every state and UT has been asked to select students from government as well as private schools."

A total of 110 students are participating in the programme spread over two weeks this year.

The participants will be attending a residential training programme at four ISRO centres - Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram; U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru; Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad, and North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Shillong.

The satellite was initially placed in Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit and will be raised to Geostationary Orbit — 36,000 km above the equator — through phase-wise, orbit-raising manoeuvres in the days ahead using its on-board propulsion systems.

The GSAT-11 will be positioned at 74-degree east longitude in geostationary orbit, ISRO said, adding that the satellite's two solar arrays and four antenna reflectors will be deployed in orbit subsequently.&nbsp;

The satellite will become operational after successful completion of all in-orbit tests.&nbsp;

The GSAT-11: All you need to know about India's 'richest space asset'

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System-1I or IRNSS-1I from the spaceport of Sriharikota Island, Andhra Pradesh.

Launched at 04:04 early morning, the PSLV-C41 rocket is expected to replace&nbspIRNSS-1A. This satellite is part of the constellation of seven NavIC navigation satellite.

ISRO Chairman K Sivan described the mission a success as he congratulated his fellow scientists.

He said that IRNSS-II has successfully placed in the designated orbit.

This is the second attempt by ISRO to send a replacement satellite as the first attempt in August 2017 the launch of IRNSS-1H had failed.&nbsp

The previous mission last year failed after heat shield covering the satellite failed to separate from the rocket as onboard atomic clocks stopped functioning.

The purpose of these IRNSS satellites is to create India's own navigation system which would be in the lines of US' GPS or Global Positioning System.

Two weeks back ISRO launched GSAT-6A on board GSLV Mk-II. However, the ISRO lost communication with the satellite within two days.
