The Indian Army said that taking advantage of bad weather and poor visibility along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Machhal sector, two to three armed personnel crossed the LoC and fired on a forward army post from proximity.&nbsp;

The Indian Army's alert troops responded promptly,&nbsp;leading to an&nbsp;exchange of fire that&nbsp;resulted&nbsp;in&nbsp;the killing of&nbsp;one Pakistani intruder.

The Indian forces also recovered&nbsp;weapons, ammunition and war-like stores from the intruders. Meanwhile, the identification and affiliation of this Pakistani national is being ascertained.

"During this intense fire exchange, two of our brave soldiers also suffered some grave injuries and were hence immediately evacuated to the Base Hospital at Srinagar. Unfortunately, one of these brave hearts has succumbed to his injuries. The other brave soldier is responding well to treatment and care and is presently stable,"&nbsp;said an Indian Army official.&nbsp;

One soldier killed, several injured in Kupwara as Indian Army neutralises Pak intruder

The Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Battal early on Tuesday (July 22) morning.&nbsp;

One soldier was injured during the heavy exchange of fire with the terrorists.

“Alert troops foiled an infiltration bid by effectively engaging infiltrating #terrorists with effective fire in the #Battal Sector at 0300h. Second attack in 24 hours&nbsp;

Tuesday’s attack comes a day after terrorists attacked the house of a Village Defence Guard (VDG) member in Gundha, Rajouri on Monday (July 21).&nbsp;

However, an alert Army unit responded quickly preventing major loss. Parshottam Kumar, who was the target of the attack was recently awarded the Shaurya Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu.

Surge in terror activities in Jammu

The Jammu &amp; Kashmir region has seen a surge in terror attacks across Jammu, resulting in deaths of 27 people, including 11 security personnel, a village defense guard, and five terrorists.

On Thursday (July 18), two army personnel were wounded in a gunfight with terrorists in Doda. A temporary camp at a government school in Jaddan Bata village was targeted by the terrorists, leaving a soldier critically injured, who was airlifted to a hospital in Udhampur.

On July 16, four army personnel, including an officer, were killed in a gunfight with heavily armed terrorists in Doda district.

While a week ago, five soldiers were killed and five others were injured in a terrorist ambush in Kathua district’s Machedi forest belt.

On Saturday (July 20), Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the security situation in a joint meeting with police, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies in Jammu, amid a series of attacks in the region.

Indian army foils infiltration bid along LoC in J&K, one soldier injured

Four Indian Army soldiers, including a Major, have been killed in gunfight during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Monday night (Jul&nbsp;15).

The encounter began around 7:45 pm after troops from the Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group of the J&amp;K Police launched a joint cordon and search operation at Dhari Gote Urarbagi in the Desa forest area.

The injured were taken to the hospital and their condition was stated to be “critical”.&nbsp;

<h2>Second attack in one week</h2>

This was the second encounter in the Jammu &amp; Kashmir region after five soldiers were killed in Kathua last week.

The terrorists targeted the trucks, which were about 500 meters apart, with grenades and, in a troubling development, used armour-piercing bullets (tipped with hardened steel) and an M4 assault rifle.

It is worth mentioning here, that the terrorist attacks, which started in Poonch and Rajouri districts, have now spread across Jammu, the region that was free from terrorism till a few years ago.

Around 48 soldiers have been killed in action in the Jammu region, over the last 32 months.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to the four soldiers killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda.

Four Indian soldiers killed in gunfight with terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir’s Doda

Pakistan-made items were found from the possession of two slain terrorists who attacked a village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district on Tuesday (June 11).

The local authorities said that&nbsp;three magazines with 30 rounds were found from the terrorists. They also found three live grenades. The terrorists also had ₹500 notes worth ₹1 lakh ($1,197). They possessed Pakistan-made chocolates, dry chenna and stale chapatis.

The terrorists, who killed a CRPF soldier during the encounter, also had Pakistan-made medicines and painkiller injections, along with two packs of A4 battery cells, a handset with an antenna, and two wires dangling from it.

Terrorists struck at four places in Reasi, Kathua and Doda districts over the past four days, killing nine pilgrims and a CRPF jawan and leaving seven security personnel and several others injured.

On Sunday, a terror attack&nbsp;targeted a bus carrying 53 pilgrims from a shrine in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. Ten people were killed in the attack.

A fourth terror attack in India's Jammu and Kashmir in three days was reported on Wednesday (June 12).

Terrorists opened fire on Special Operations Group (SOG) camp in Tantna Gandow of the Doda district.&nbsp;

"Two terrorists were killed, and a search operation is underway in the area," ADGP Jammu, Anand Jain told reporters on Wednesday (June 12).

"There are chances that more terrorists are hiding in the area as the search operation is still underway and we have cordoned off the area. More details on the incident will be conveyed later," he added, reported PTI.

Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravinder Raina on Wednesday paid a visit to the families of the bus driver and conductor who were killed in the terrorist attack in Reasi district.

Praising the driver and the conductor, Raina said, "The bus driver Vijay Kumar, showed great courage and lost his life to save many. Similarly, Arun Ji, the bus conductor from the Katra region, also lost his life. They acted bravely and foiled the terrorists' major conspiracy. I came here to express my condolences to their families. The whole country and Jammu &amp; Kashmir are with them."

<h2>Police release sketches of 4 terrorists</h2>

Jammu and Kashmir Police has&nbsp;released sketches of four terrorists involved in terror activities in the Doda district and announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh ($5,985)&nbsp;for information on each of the terrorists.

The terrorists are believed to be hiding in "upper reaches of Bhaderwah, Thathri, Gandoh and carrying out terror-related activities," according to a police spokesperson.

Pakistan-made items recovered from terrorists killed in Kathua attack

The two militants who opened gunfire in a village in Jammu and Kashmir' Kathua, late last night on Tuesday (June 11) have been eliminated in a confrontation.

Additionally, a a&nbsp;CRPF soldier lost his life during the exchange of gunfire.

Two encounters that started overnight in Jammu have continued till Wednesday (June 12) morning. One of these incidents, in Doda, resulted in injuries to five soldiers and a special police officer (SPO) during the initial shootout.

In a separate terror attack in Doda district, three security personnel were injured during an exchange of firing after the terrorists targeted a joint checkpost of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles and the police on the Bhadarwah-Pathankot road late Tuesday night.

This is the third incident in three days in Jammu. Previously, terrorists targeted civilians in Kathua injuring one, and pilgrims on a bus in Reasi killing nine.

During the shootout, one terrorist was also eliminated in Kathua last night, said Anand Jain, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, who is supervising the anti-terrorist operation.

Briefing about the Doda incident, he said terrorists opened fire at a joint party of police and Rashtriya Rifles at an army base in Chattargala area last night. An encounter was in progress between the security forces and the terrorists in the higher reaches, he said.

The security forces are now looking for&nbsp;the last remaining terrorist with the help of drones in the Hiranagar area of Kathua.

Jain called the Kathua attack a "fresh infiltration" and also pointed at Pakistan without naming it.

"It is our unfriendly neighbour who always tries to damage the peaceful environment in our country. The Hiranagar terror attack appear to be a fresh infiltration. Though one terrorist has been killed, the search for the others involved in the attack remains ongoing."

Traffic Movement On Bhaderwah-Pathankot Highway Suspended Till Further Orders

The DIG Jammu and Kashmir Police and Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua also had a narrow escape after a terrorist fired a barrage of bullets on their vehicles amid the ongoing anti-terrorists operation in Hiranagar.&nbsp;

In a related development, the security forces have recovered arms and ammunition around the ongoing gunfight site.

The recovered arms and ammunition included three magazines with 30 rounds each, another magazine with 24 rounds, 75 rounds in a separate bag, three live grenades, currency worth 1 lakh (200 notes of 500 rupees), eatables (Pakistani-made chocolates, dry channa, and stale chapatis), Pakistani-made medicines and pain-killer injections, a syringe, two packs of A4 batteries, and a handset wrapped in tape with an antenna and two wires hanging from it.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that he was in touch with top civil and police officials in the district.

J&K terror attack: Second terrorist eliminated in Kathua district

Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Nowpora area of Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla District on Friday (Apr 26).

According to security officials, two bodies of terrorists are lying at the operation site&nbsp;and their identities&nbsp;are yet to be ascertained.

Security forces had earlier said that they had an intel about the presence of two terrorists in the area after which a cordon and search operation was launched. During the search operation, terrorists opened fire on security forces resulting in a gun battle. The operation was halted during the night hours and with the first light, operation was started again resulting in the killing of two terrorists.&nbsp;

Officials also said that two soldiers and one civilian were injured in the crossfire and all the injured were rushed to the hospital where all of them are said to be stable.&nbsp;

Security forces also said that they had kept a strong vigil and cordon the whole night. All the entry and exit points leading to the village were completely blocked. All the locals of the vicinity were also taken out before the final operation was conducted.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure,&nbsp;all government and private educational institutions, including colleges falling within Sopore tehsil's jurisdiction, will remain closed today. This decision comes in the aftermath of the encounter that erupted on Thursday evening at Nowpora in Sopore.&nbsp;

The operation is still on as security forces suspect there could be more terrorists hiding in the area.

The pillion rider wearing a burka walked to the window of the wine shop and dropped a grenade inside through the port hole window and fled away on the bike.&nbsp;

“In this terror incident, four employees of the shop received splinter injuries. All the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital however, one among the injured identified as Ranjit Singh, son of Kishan Lal resident of Bakra Rajouri succumbed to his injuries.

The other injured employees have been identified as Govardhan Singh, son of Bijendra Singh, Ravi Kumar son of Sh Kartar Singh, both residents of Billawar Kathua and Govind Singh, son of Gurdev Singh resident of Kangra Rajouri. Among the injured Govind Singh has been referred to Srinagar hospital for specialised treatment,&nbsp;“said Vijay Kumar, IG Kashmir.&nbsp;

The police immediately reached the attack site and the whole area was cordoned off and a search in the area is underway.&nbsp;

One dead, three injured in grenade attack on wine shop in Baramulla

After a police constable succumbed to injuries, the death toll reached three on Tuesday in the terror attack on a police bus in Jammu and Kashmir, the officials said. &nbsp;

At the Army's 92 Base hospital, constable Rameez Ahmad of the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police’s 9th Battalion succumbed to injuries, added officials. &nbsp;

Meanwhile, in an encounter with security forces, a terrorist was also killed in Poonch district on Tuesday, as per authorities. &nbsp;&nbsp;

On receiving intelligence inputs, the army and the Jammu and Kashmir police launched an operation in Behramgala area of Poonch, said a defence spokesperson. &nbsp;&nbsp;

During the operation, the terrorists opened fire at the security personnel in an attempt to flee in the early hours of Tuesday, spokesperson added. &nbsp;&nbsp;

As troops retaliated, one terrorist was killed in the encounter, the spokesperson further said. &nbsp;

The attack on the police bus, was carried out by little known outfit, Kashmir Tigers, which is believed to be the front of Jaish-e-Mohammad, at Zewan on the outskirts of Srinagar on Monday. &nbsp;

In the attack, assistant sub inspector Ghulam Hassan and constable Shafeeq Ali were killed. Around 12 others, including Rameez, had got hurt. &nbsp;

Two army soldiers were killed along the Line of Control in Suderbani sector of Rajouri district after Pakistan violated the ceasefire, the army said. &nbsp;

“Pakistan Army resorted to an unprovoked ceasefire violation on the Line of Control (LoC) in Sunderbani Sector of District Rajouri on 27 November,” Lt Col Devender Anand, army’s Jammu based spokesman told WION.

The deceased have been identified as Naik Prem Bahadur Khatri and Rifleman Sukhbir Singh who initially was critically injured and later succumbed to their injuries at a medical facility.

The incident comes after a JCO was killed and a civilian was injured on LoC in Poonch district in Pakistan ceasefire violation yesterday.
