Sava Tkachov, 26, and his brother Yan, 20, have 1.26 million subscribers on their channel Sawayan Games, where most videos are introduced by Sava shouting and gesticulating wildly in sunglasses and chunky headphones.

Now the brothers, who were brought up and live in&nbsp;Japan, have used their platform to raise 3.6 million yen ($29,000) in donations for Ukraine since Russia launched its bloody invasion last month.

Fans have left comments of support on their videos, which are tagged with the #NoWar&nbsp;slogan and mix gaming commentary with information and appeals to help Ukraine.

Since the invasion began, social networks like TikTok have come alive with images posted by young Ukrainians of newly trained soldiers and life in underground bunkers.

Sava said on Thursday that he hoped the pair's videos could pack a similar emotional punch.

"The kind of information I'm sharing is very direct information from my father or his friends (in Ukraine), and I'm sharing that instantly, in a very direct and real way, in a personal way," he told reporters.

"It's something that can hit viewers right in the heart," he said.

Sava, a basketball player, moved to&nbsp;Japan&nbsp;aged four when his father began work there as a business consultant. Yan, currently a student, was born in&nbsp;Japan.

The brothers started their gaming channel two years ago, and say most of their subscribers are young Japanese men, with the majority aged 24 or under.

"It's extremely noisy, so please refrain from watching it before going to bed," says the channel's description.

In one recent livestream, Sava appeared with animated angel wings in the yellow and blue of the&nbsp;Ukrainian&nbsp;flag.&nbsp;

The pair have also posted less-than-subtle protest skits, such as whacking a photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin in time to music.

Sava was initially "conflicted" about mixing political commentary with gaming, Yan said.

"But he thought by using such familiar content, like games, it might be possible to reach more people, and particularly more young people."

And commenters have been weighing in, with one writing: "Although it's a painful time, I think the Sawayans' attitude is definitely reaching people all around the world. I'm only a high school student... but I want to do what I can. No war."

The pair, who speak Japanese,&nbsp;Ukrainian, Russian and English, said they feel strongly attached to Ukraine despite having only visited a few times.

"Ukrainian&nbsp;soldiers the same age as me are being killed," said Yan.

It's easy to turn your eyes away from reality. But the question is, do you face up to the problem, or do you stand back, as a bystander? And it is up to you to decide."

&nbsp;2016:&nbsp;Kurosaki&nbsp;vanishes in France&nbsp;

Zepeda travels to Besancon to see&nbsp;Kurosaki, then 21, in December 2016.

She is last seen dining with him at a restaurant a short drive from Besancon on December 4.

In the early hours of the morning, fellow students in the dormitory heard cries and thuds coming from the area of her room but her disappearance is not reported for several days, by which time Zepeda has returned to Chile.

Zepeda, who had the previous September threatened&nbsp;Kurosaki&nbsp;in a video posted online, which he later removed, admits going to her room for what he described as consensual sex and says he left straight afterwards.

Kurosaki's body has never been found, despite extensive searches, including in the nearby forests.

Matches, flammable liquid&nbsp;

Prosecutors say that in France,&nbsp;Kurosaki&nbsp;had entered a new relationship, a development which "clearly exasperated" Zepeda.

They believe Zepeda killed his ex in a jealous rage.

In the video he had given her an ultimatum of two weeks to bend to his, unspecified, conditions.

The investigation reveals that he stopped off at a supermarket on his way to Besancon to buy matches, flammable liquid and bleach.

Mysterious messages

When Zepeda returned his hire car&nbsp;three&nbsp;days after&nbsp;Kurosaki's disappearance, it was "very dirty" with soil found on the driver's side and in the trunk, a prosecutor said.

For several days after her disappearances, messages continued to be sent from&nbsp;Kurosaki's phone to her friends and family, including messages in Japanese.

A Japanese friend of Zepeda tells police he had asked her to translate sentences into Japanese, which later appeared in one of the messages sent from the missing woman's phone.

2017-2020: Extradition saga

France soon after the disappearance issues an international warrant for Zepeda's arrest, but a Chilean judge throws out a request to arrest him in February 2017.

In April 2019 Zepeda, who had been under house arrest in the Chilean seaside resort of Vina del Mar, is questioned by a Chilean judge in the presence of French investigators.&nbsp;

The handover is delayed by the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent border closures.

Kurosaki's family says via their lawyer they hope he will tell the truth.

In February 2021, a French judge orders Zepeda to stand trial for&nbsp;murder. He faces life in prison if convicted.

Murder case across three continents: Japan's Narumi Kurosaki

Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Saturday the prospect of Russia using nuclear weapons was "increasingly real", welcoming a visit by the US&nbsp;ambassador to Hiroshima, the first city to suffer a nuclear attack.

Japan, the only country attacked by atomic weapons, has regularly spoken out against nuclear armaments. Kishida, who represents Hiroshima in parliament, visited the city's peace memorial and museum on Saturday with envoy Rahm Emanuel.

Crowding, confrontations and full-on attacks. Japan's many train fans are mostly mild-mannered enthusiasts passionate about the country's famed rail system, but a small group is gaining surprising notoriety.

Japan's railway system has long inspired envy around the world, with its famed punctuality, cutting-edge technology and meticulous timetables.

So it's no surprise that the country is home to a diverse landscape of train buffs, from those who enjoy poring over timetables to others who adore and even record the rumbling sound of passing trains.

Perhaps the best-known group, however, is a tribe dubbed "toritetsu" (train photographers), who strive to take perfect photos of approaching trains.&nbsp;

They have been around for decades, but in recent years, reports of shouting matches, trespassing and even violence at stations have turned toritetsu into the bad boys of Japanese trainspotting.

Some argue the out-of-control behaviour isn't entirely new, citing frenzied farewells for retiring steam locomotives in the 1960s and '70s.

But recent incidents, including the harassment of a photobombing cyclist and an assault that left a teen with a fractured skull last year, have some enthusiasts worried.

"The manners have gotten worse for sure," lamented septuagenarian Masao Oda, who has been taking train photos for about 50 years.

It's an uncomfortable feeling for toritetsu like 27-year-old Akira Takahashi.

"People now point fingers at me," said Takahashi, whose fondest obsession is the EF66 electric locomotive model, which he describes as his "idol".

"The negative image of us now prevails... I don't want to be lumped together with some of us who are causing trouble."&nbsp;

Most fans are more like 19-year-old Ryunosuke Takagai, a university student who has been known to get up at five in the morning to document his passion and sometimes takes on part-time factory work to finance his hobby.

"I love everything about trains -- their sound, their atmosphere," he told AFP.

"That moment when you succeed in capturing the train you'd spent hours waiting for is truly fulfilling," he said.

The increasingly raucous behaviour of some toritetsu may be driven by their pursuit of the perfect photo, according to Jun Umehara, a freelance railway journalist formerly at one of Japan's top train magazines.

He says factors including fewer "retiring" trains and more urban development mean hobbyist photographers are squeezed into smaller spaces as they chase their dream pictures.

"Every train has its last moment, which, for them, is the last missing piece of the puzzle they need to make their photo collection complete," he said.

"The idea of missing that final piece is almost unbearable for them," added Umehara.

"Hence the desperation."&nbsp;

No longer 'the enemy

Housing development over the years has also seen some old shooting spots razed, making it even harder for toritetsu to emulate the "impeccable" train photos they grew up admiring.&nbsp;

The images, featured by Japan's niche railway magazines with their devoted toritetsu readership, are often taken with a clear view of trains -- devoid of obstacles like fences, trees and passengers.

"But imitating these exemplary photos in real-life situations is almost impossible," Umehara said. "And yet, that's what they're after."

The community of train fans encompasses a diverse group of enthusiasts, including "noritetsu", who simply enjoy riding on trains, "ekibentetsu", who focus on the ekiben bentos -- boxed meals sold at trains stations, and "soshikitetsu," so-called "mourners" of retiring trains.

Nationwide, there were an estimated five million train fans -- from casual to hardcore -- in 2015, according to Nobuaki Takada, a senior consultant at Tokyo-based firm NRI Social Information System Services.

And encroaching toritetsu have become an increasing problem for rail operators, which have often responded with heavier security.

But last year, industry behemoth East Japan Railway Company, commonly known as JR East, changed tack and launched an official fan club for train enthusiasts.

"Toritetsu can actually be counted on to take beautiful pictures of our trains and promote them on the internet," said Yusuke Yamamoto, an official with subsidiary JR East Start UP Co.

"So instead of treating them as our enemy, we wanted to build a good relationship with them through this fan community."&nbsp;

He wants to see the community overcome&nbsp;the stigma associated with its fringe elements, citing the way anime and manga obsessives have become more mainstream and less socially isolated in Japan.

"Toritetsu is a culture, and I hope its image will change," Yamamoto said.

During his travel, PM Kishida will meet PM Modi of India...to discuss the international and regional affairs as well as the bilateral relationship. They will address broad range of topics...through Quad we would like to advance efforts to achieve free and open Indo Pacific", adding, "will discuss Ukraine situation".

Japan, along with the West has announced sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine that started on February 24.&nbsp;

Japan is also sanctioning Russia's state-owned arms exporter Rosoboronexport. Russia's Rosoboronexport is involved in K-203 Kalashnikov project in Amethi and other defence pacts with India.&nbsp;

India meanwhile has abstained at the United Nations over the Ukraine crisis and is looking to import discounted Russian oil something that is seen as a pragmatic approach domestically.&nbsp;

The visit comes even as India and Japan celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic ties.&nbsp;

This is the first visit by any Japanese PM to India in four and half years. While India and Japan have ab annual summit-level mechanism under which prime ministers of both countries travel to each other's countries alternatively, the delay has been due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.&nbsp;

PM Fumio, become the Japanese PM in October of last year and had visited India earlier in his capacity as foreign minister.&nbsp;

According to reports by Japanese newspaper Nikkei, the incoming Japanese PM plans to announce five trillion yen or $42 billion investment in India for the next five years during the two-day visit.&nbsp;

During the weekly ministry of external affairs presser on Thursday, spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "The summit will provide an opportunity for both sides to review and strengthen the bilateral cooperation in diverse areas, as well as exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, so as to advance partnership for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo Pacific region and beyond."&nbsp;

Later this year, PM Modi is expected to visit Japan for the second Quad in-person summit in Japan. Quad, involving India, US, Australia, Japan is been evolving fast amid the Chinese aggressive actions in the Indo Pacific.&nbsp;

This is the first head of government/head of state-level incoming visit to India this year. Japan has been one of the closest partners for India in Asia and the world.&nbsp;

The country has been involved in building major infrastructure projects, especially in India's north-east. PM had last year laid the foundation stone of a 20 km-long bridge over the Brahmaputra river between Assam and Meghalaya.&nbsp;

As part of getting a trained Indian workforce, India and Japan have signed the Specified Skilled Workers Agreement. Under Technical Intern Training Programme (TITP), 220 Indian youth have been sent to Japan to work.&nbsp;

The Japanese side has since January this year started examination for nursing care under this programme.
