UN agency in Palestine blames Hamas of stealing Gaza aid, then deletes post on X and refutes claim

How was Israel formed? The nation's history can be traced back to the Iron Age

Thousands of Israelis were in the midst of attending an outdoor music festival in the desert when they were thrown into chaos as Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a surprise attack, on Saturday morning (Oct 7).

The attack was part of a wave of unexpected incursions by the militants into southern Israel and launched one of the biggest attacks on the country in decades.

The musical festival attendees who managed to escape have recalled the harrowing ordeal as an all-night nature party – held near Kibbutz Re’im close to Gaza, one of the first targets of Hamas militants who entered Israel.

(Trigger warning: Some readers may find details of this report disturbing. Discretion is advised.)

Dor’s story

In a video posted by an X user Yael Bar tur, Dor who is said to be a massage therapist in Israel recalled the harrowing details of how he managed to escape the desert.

“I had a massage stand (at the festival). Everything was amazing until 6:00 am (local time). We saw trails of missiles rising in the air. At the time music stopped and there was shouting ‘the party is over’,” said Dor.

He went on to say how there was panic on the ground, where some people were lying on the floor others were running and “it became total chaos”.

Subsequently, Dor, who was accompanied by his friend, heard gunshots getting closer and they ran towards the parking lots, drove between tents in their jeep and picked up rifles from dead soldiers on their way.

They managed to get to the bypass road when they encountered a group of militants on motorcycles, said Dor, and the militant chanted some anti-Jew remarks at him before they began shooting at the vehicle.

Subsequently, he kept driving in a “zig-zag pattern” to dodge the gunshots but his friend Gilad who was in the vehicle with him at the time got “shrapnel in the head”. “We see sprayed vehicles…bodies on the floor…” said Dor.

He said that a group of Hamas militants arrived and began shooting at the toilet doors while they were hiding in one of them and described it as “six hours of horror”. They were later rescued by the Israeli military.

Discretion is advised.) Dor’s story In a video posted by an X user Yael Bar tur, Dor who is said to be a massage therapist in Israel recalled the harrowing details of how he managed to escape the desert. ALSO READ | No Hamas, you don't attack a music fest: Palestinians lost perception war with reign of terror “People will not be who they were again.
Hollywood has come out in support of Israel as more than 700 figures from the entertainment industry signed an open letter condemning Hamas. The letter demands the safe return of hostages being held by the terror group in Gaza.

The letter is the first major move from the entertainment industry since Israel came under attack this past weekend.

Released by the nonprofit Creative Community for Peace, the letter has been signed by prominent celebrities and Hollywood leaders including Gal Gadot, Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Pine, Mayim Bialik, Liev Schreiber, Amy Schumer, Michael Douglas, Jerry Seinfeld, Debra Messing, Ryan Murphy, Greg Berlanti, Haim Saban, Irving Azoff, Ynon Kreiz, Mark Hamill, Howie Mandel, Bella Thorne, Antoine Fuqua and more.

The open letter urges the entertainment community to speak out against Hamas and support Israel.

The letter also asks everyone to refrain from sharing misinformation about the war and to do whatever is in their power to urge Hamas terrorists to return hostages back to their families.

On October 7, Hamas launched a surprise ambush, firing thousands of rockets from Gaza, entering Israeli soil to brutally kill civilians in their homes, and committing a massacre at a music festival for peace where 260 bodies were found. This is the first time since Holocaust that so many Jews have died in a single day, with the latest death toll in Israel estimated to be at 1,300. At least 1,500 Palestinians died in subsequent bombardment of Gaza by Israeli forces.

Earlier in a statement, Gal Gadot, who is of Israeli-origin, has said, “My heart is aching for the lives lost and families shattered. I’m praying for everyone who has been affected by Hamas’ terrorism and brutality. And I hope that the world remains steadfast in their support of the Israeli people.”

Saban said, “In the aftermath of the barbaric killing of more than 1,200 Israelis, we in the Hollywood community and around the world must stand with Israel as it defends itself against a terrorist regime in Gaza that seeks Israel’s destruction.”

Here's the full text of the open letter from the Creative Community for Peace:

"The nightmare that Israelis have feared for decades became a reality as Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israeli cities and towns.

Under the cover of thousands of rockets fired indiscriminately into civilian populations, Hamas murdered and kidnapped innocent men, women, and children. They kidnapped and murdered infants and the elderly. They raped women and mutilated their bodies. They paraded their bodies through the streets and on social media, and cowardly attacked the Supernova Music Festival – bringing death and destruction to an event celebrating friendship and love.

This is terrorism. This is evil. There is no justification or rationalization for Hamas’ actions. These are barbaric acts of terrorism that must be called out by everyone. They are a terrorist organization whose leaders call for the murder of Jews everywhere.

CCFP calls on our friends and colleagues in the entertainment industry to speak out forcefully against Hamas and do whatever is in their power to urge the terrorist organization to return the innocent hostages to their families.

As Israel takes the necessary steps to defend its citizens in the coming days and weeks, social media will be overrun by an orchestrated misinformation campaign spearheaded by Iran. We urge everyone to remember the horrific images that came out of Israel and to not amplify or fall for their propaganda.

Our thoughts are with all those experiencing unfathomable levels of fear and violence, and we hope for the day when Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in peace."
Gal Gadot to Michael Douglas, Hollywood comes together to write an open letter against Hamas

Over the last few years, supermodels and sisters Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid have candidly spoken about their views on the Israel-Palestine issue. The two sisters have Palestinian ancestry from their father's side.

How are Gigi and Bella connected to Palestine?

Gigi's father Mohamed Anwar Hadid was born in a Palestinian Muslim family in 1948 in Nazareth. From his mother's side, he claims to be a descendant from the 18th-century Arab ruler of northern Palestine Dahir al-Umar. Gigi's mother is former supermodel-reality star Yolanda Foster. Gigi and Bela are half-Palestinian and half-Dutch. Gigi's real name is Jelena Noura Hadid and Bella's is Isabella Khairiah Hadid.

Why did Anwar Hadid and his family leave Palestine?

Gigi's father, along with his parents, had to flee Palestine due to the 1947–1949 Palestine War. Gigi's grandfather did not want the family “to live under the Israeli occupation,” as per a Washington Post profile. Anwar Hadid's parents walked for two nights to reach the Lebanese border and they were provided shelter as refugees in Syria.

In 2015, he shared an old picture of his family on Instagram and also penned a note in which he recalled how the family settled in Syria as refugees.

“I was only about 18 months old. After we were expelled from our beloved #Palestine into the Syrian refugee camps .. My dad got a brief job at the University of Damascus in #Syria .. This was our family pictures for a Palestinian Refugee Card. The Hadid Family, my beautiful mother Kharia Daher Hadid. My father Anwar Mohamed Hadid. My sisters Ghada, Raida, Sana, and me. Thank you #Syria for taking us in. And thank you America for allowing All of us to realize our dreams …”

Later during an interview, he explained how they became refugees. “That's how we became refugees to Syria and we lost our home in Safed (city in Northern Israel) to a Jewish family that we sheltered when they were refugees from Poland on the ship that was sailing from country to country and no one would take them… they were our guest for 2 years till they made us refugees and they kicked us out of our own home. That my history.. Strange thing. That I and my family would do it again,” he had said.

What Gigi wrote about Israel's war against Hamas

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Gigi shared a post and showed empathy for the people of Israel and Palestine.

She wrote, "My thoughts are with all those affected by this unjustifiable tragedy and every day that innocent lives are taken by this conflict too many of which are children. I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation, it's a responsibility I hold daily. I also feel a responsibility to my Jewish friends to make it clear, as I have before: While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of Jewish person."

Gigi continued, "The terrorizing of innocent people is not in alignment with & does not do any good for the 'Free Palestine' movement. The idea that it does has fueled a painful, decades-long cycle of back-and-forth retaliation (which no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to be a casualty of), and helps perpetuate the false idea that being Pro-Palestine = antisemitic."

And thank you America for allowing All of us to realize our dreams …” Later during an interview, he explained how they became refugees. What Gigi wrote about Israel's war against Hamas Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Gigi shared a post and showed empathy for the people of Israel and Palestine. She wrote, "My thoughts are with all those affected by this unjustifiable tragedy and every day that innocent lives are taken by this conflict too many of which are children. I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation, it's a responsibility I hold daily. I also feel a responsibility to my Jewish friends to make it clear, as I have before: While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of Jewish person." Gigi continued, "The terrorizing of innocent people is not in alignment with & does not do any good for the 'Free Palestine' movement. The idea that it does has fueled a painful, decades-long cycle of back-and-forth retaliation (which no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to be a casualty of), and helps perpetuate the false idea that being Pro-Palestine = antisemitic." Operation Ajay: First flight carrying 230 Indians from Israel set to take off today

Amid the escalating war against the terrorist group Hamas, schools in Israel, as well as the UK and US, are urging parents to limit the use of social media by their kids.

This comes amid concerns that Hamas terrorists might broadcast images or videos of hostages being executed in retaliation for Israeli strikes on Gaza.

Several horrifying videos and footage have already appeared on social media, showing militants attacking and kidnapping civilians at a music festival. As per allegations, the terrorists also beheaded some Jewish babies and toddlers, an act that was also condemned by US President Joe Biden on record.

Parents urged to uninstall TikTok

A parents association in Israel’s Tel Aviv recently sent a message to its members, urging them to remove apps such as TikTok from their children’s phones.

“We cannot allow our kids to watch this stuff. It is also difficult, furthermore – impossible – to contain all this content on social media,” according to the parents association. “Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” it added in its statement.

Some Jewish schools in the US and UK are also making similar requests to parents.

“Together with other Jewish day schools, we are warning parents to disable social media apps such as Instagram, X, and Tiktok from their children’s phones,” the head of a school in New Jersey wrote in an email.

“Graphic and often misleading information is flowing freely, augmenting the fears of our students. … Parents should discuss the dangers of these platforms and ask their children on a daily basis about what they are seeing, even if they have deleted the most unfiltered apps from their phones,” the statement read further.

Similar warnings issued for parents in Australia

Australia’s 9 News reported that parents of Jewish school students in Australia were alerted to protect their kids from distressing content that may appear on social media.

Jewish schools in Sydney this week told parents to be vigilant concerning their children's social media use, the Sydney Morning Herald has reported. Possible actions include deleting apps such as TikTok and Instagram.

Jewish Care Victoria also posted suggestions for how to address the topic of the ongoing conflict with children. "Be conscious of where and how children receive information," the group wrote.

"As much as possible, protect them from distressing images in news or social media,” it added.

Parents urged to uninstall TikTok A parents association in Israel’s Tel Aviv recently sent a message to its members, urging them to remove apps such as TikTok from their children’s phones. Watch: How Hamas became Israel's sworn enemy × “We cannot allow our kids to watch this stuff. Also read: As Blinken heads to Israel, US urges nations to use influence to get Hamas to stand down “Graphic and often misleading information is flowing freely, augmenting the fears of our students. … Parents should discuss the dangers of these platforms and ask their children on a daily basis about what they are seeing, even if they have deleted the most unfiltered apps from their phones,” the statement read further. Similar warnings issued for parents in Australia Australia’s 9 News reported that parents of Jewish school students in Australia were alerted to protect their kids from distressing content that may appear on social media.
