Amid reports of a shortage of LPG cylinders in India, 27 cylinders were stolen from a delivery vehicle in Mumbai. The theft happened in Charkop in Kandivali (West) earlier this week when the thieves broke into a parked tempo and took the LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders, including five that had been filled. According to officials, the police have launched an investigation into the incident. This comes amid concerns over gas supply due to the ongoing war in West Asia. The conflict has disrupted the supply of energy, triggering a global crisis, after Iran blocked the strategic Strait of Hormuz as it retaliates across the Gulf.According to PTI, the delivery man, Nandkumar Ramraj Soni, said in his complaint that he had parked his tempo loaded with the LPG cylinders at Kaka Keni Chowk near his home on March 25. However, when he returned on March 26, he saw that the vehicle’s door glass was shattered, and the rear lock was broken. The police said that all 27 cooking gas cylinders, five filled and 22 empty, had been stolen from the vehicle as per the FIR. Multiple teams have been formed to trace those who took the cylinders.“CCTV footage from the area has captured several suspects along with vehicles, and efforts are underway to identify them,” the police added.Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police has launched a crackdown against illegal black marketing of LPG cylinders. The police seized a large stock of domestic and commercial gas cylinders that were allegedly being stored and sold illegally following a raid in the Worli area. The authorities conducted an inspection at a location in Worli where they discovered several cylinders stocked without proper authorisation after receiving a tip-off.Amid fake news circulating regarding the shortage of oil reserves, PIB Fact Check said on X, “India has a total reserve capacity of 74 days, with the current stock cover at around 60 days. This includes crude oil, petroleum products, and strategic reserves stored in underground caverns. This ensures nearly two months of assured fuel supply across the country.”It added, “India’s fuel supply remains stable and secure for the coming months, and there is no cause for concern regarding availability. Avoid panic and rely only on official government sources for authentic information on fuel and gas availability.”

In a distasteful remark, US President Donald Trump has claimed that Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), was effectively “kissing my a**”, while describing the current dynamics between Washington and Riyadh. His comments come at a time when US is involved in a month-long war with Iran. While Saudi Arabia in its public statements have called for end of conflict, some reports suggest that the Saudi leadership was in favour of the war. Even as Trump mocked MBS, his statements suggested strong alignment with Gulf allies.&nbsp;&nbsp;Speaking at a Saudi-backed investment forum &nbsp;in Florida, Trump said, “He did not think this was going to happen. He didn't think he would be kissing my a**… he thought I would be just another American president of a country going downhill. But now he has to be nice to me." The US president later struck a more conciliatory tone, describing MBS as a 'smart' and a ‘regular kind of a guy’ and adding that perceptions of the US had improved significantly under his leadership. “But you know he (Crown Prince Salman) is a smart, a very regular kind of a guy. He said an year ago, you were a dead country and now you are literally the hottest coutry anywhere in the world. And that was before we beat the hell out of Iran,” added Trump. The comments by Trump shed light on a report by The New York Times that claimed that Mohammed bin Salman has been privately urging Trump to sustain the war, calling it a “historic opportunity” to weaken Iran and reportedly pushing for stronger actions, including strikes on energy infrastructure. However, Saudi Arabia has publicly denied supporting a prolonged conflict, reiterating its stance in favour of a peaceful resolution while focusing on defending itself against Iranian threats.

Zelensky added that he believes it was in Moscow’s interest to help Iranians. He said that he was “100 per cent” confident that Russia was sharing such intelligence with Tehran to help target US forces across the Gulf amid the ongoing war. This comes after a wave of Iranian ballistic missiles struck Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, wounding ten American service members and damaging several critical US refuelling aircraft. In the deadly attack, two American service members were very seriously hurt, while the other eight sustained serious injuries. According to reports, unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, were also involved in the attack.“I think that it’s in Russia’s interest to help Iranians. And I don’t believe — I know — that they share information,” Zelensky told NBC News in an interview. “Do they help Iranians? Of course. How many percent? One-hundred per cent.”Sharing a summary of the daily presidential briefing from Ukrainian spy agencies, Zelensky said that the report stated that Russian satellites had taken images of the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia on March 20, March 23 and March 25. The attack on the base, which hosts both US and Saudi troops, happened on March 26.Zelensky added that Russia’s repeated photographing of installations over several days is an indication of attack planning, as per Ukraine’s experience.“We know that if they make images once, they are preparing. If they make images a second time, it’s like a simulation. The third time it means that in one or two days, they will attack,” he said. The Washington Post earlier reported that Russia was providing intelligence inputs to Iran on US military positions in the region. The intelligence shared by Russia reportedly includes satellite imagery showing the locations and movements of American troops, ships and aircraft, according to sources cited in US intelligence briefings, the report added.Meanwhile, The Financial Times, citing Western intelligence sources and experts, reported that Russia is completing a phased, covert delivery of drones to Iran in shipments that also include medicine and food. Rejecting the claims, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said: “There are a lot of fakes going around right now. One thing is true — we are continuing our dialogue with the Iranian leadership.” Russia has publicly confirmed that it has delivered humanitarian aid, including over 13 tonnes of medicine, to Iran via Azerbaijan, and further shipments are planned.Disclaimer: WION takes utmost care to accurately and responsibly report ongoing conflicts in West Asia involving Israel, Iran, the US, Gulf nations and non-state actors like Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, Islamic State, and others. Israeli airstrikes hit Beirut’s southern suburbs—a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh—overnight, resulting in loud explosions and rising smoke. The strikes followed evacuation warnings, targeting areas largely empty of residents. This incident is part of an ongoing, intense escalation between Israel and Hezbollah.

Israel-Iran War: Overnight Israeli Strikes Rock Beirut Suburbs

Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis have entered the conflict, launching their first confirmed missile attack on Israel. The strike marks a significant escalation, opening a new front in the war and raising fears of a wider regional confrontation. Israel says it intercepted the incoming threat as tensions continue to surge across West Asia.

The conflict with Iran is significantly draining U.S. missile stocks, specifically high-end interceptors like THAAD and Patriot missiles, and precision-guided weapons like Tomahawk cruise missiles. Production capacity is struggling to keep pace with the high consumption rate, causing concern among officials about maintaining readiness for other global priorities.

Iran has effectively turned the Strait of Hormuz into a strategic lever by restricting, rather than fully blocking, maritime traffic, creating a severe global oil supply crunch. By utilizing kinetic strikes, mines, and selective passage (allowing 90 ships but restricting others), Iran is forcing higher prices and controlling regional energy flow, prompting panic buying in Asia.

Iran War: Strait of Hormuz Disruption Sends Energy Markets into Chaos

Tensions in West Asia continue to escalate as Iran reportedly targeted a US-linked logistics vessel near Oman, carefully avoiding territorial waters. The incident highlights a growing maritime dimension to the conflict, with the Strait of Hormuz once again in focus as a critical global oil chokepoint. As both sides trade strikes and claims, the war approaches the one-month mark with no clear signs of de-escalation.

US-Iran War: Iran Targets US Vessel Near Oman Port, 1 Port Worker Injured

The widening conflict in West Asia is now threatening to choke two of the world’s most critical oil transit routes, raising fears of prolonged disruption to global energy supplies and trade. After a wave of attacks on commercial shipping this month effectively curtailed tanker movement through the Strait of Hormuz, oil producers have been scrambling to find alternative routes to move crude to international markets. The strait, a vital artery for global oil flows, has seen traffic plummet amid escalating hostilities, sending shockwaves through energy markets.&nbsp; One of the few viable alternatives has been the Red Sea. In response, Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil producer, announced plans to reroute millions of barrels of crude via a pipeline to its western port of Yanbu. The shift has already led to a sharp rise in activity, with daily oil loadings at the port more than doubling compared to last year’s average, according to analytics firm Kpler. The group traces its origins to the 1990s, when its founder, Hussein al-Houthi, launched a revivalist movement called “Believing Youth” to promote the interests of Zaidism, a branch of Shia Islam with deep historical roots in Yemen.&nbsp;Zaidis once ruled much of Yemen for centuries but were sidelined after the 1962 revolution that brought a Sunni-led government to power. The Houthis emerged partly in response to this marginalisation and in opposition to the spread of hardline Sunni ideologies, particularly Wahhabism from neighbouring Saudi Arabia.<h2>Role in Yemen’s civil war</h2>

Despite the lapse, large-scale fighting has not fully resumed, leaving the country in a fragile and unresolved state.<h2>Backed by Iran</h2>The Houthis are widely seen as a key regional ally of Iran, which has steadily increased its support since the war escalated in 2014. According to security analysts, Tehran has supplied weapons, training, and advanced technology, including ballistic and cruise missiles, drones, and naval mines.&nbsp; The group is also considered part of Iran’s “Axis of Resistance,” a loose coalition of militias and political movements opposed to Israel and Western influence in the region.

Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels officially entered the regional war by launching missiles at Israel, signalling an escalation in their military capabilities and their role within the “Axis of Resistance.”

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels have announced their entry into the widening West Asia conflict, saying they fired missiles towards Israel on Saturday (March 28). The Israeli military earlier confirmed detecting a missile launched from Yemen, raising fears of a broader regional escalation. Who are the Houthis? The Houthi movement, formally known as Ansar Allah (Supporters of God), is a key faction in Yemen’s long-running civil war. The group traces its origins to the 1990s, when its founder, Hussein al-Houthi, launched a revivalist movement called “Believing Youth” to promote the interests of Zaidism, a branch of Shia Islam with deep historical roots in Yemen. Zaidis once ruled much of Yemen for centuries but were sidelined after the 1962 revolution that brought a Sunni-led government to power. The Houthis emerged partly in response to this marginalisation and in opposition to the spread of hardline Sunni ideologies, particularly Wahhabism from neighbouring Saudi Arabia. “A logistics vessel supporting the aggressive US army was targeted by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran at a considerable distance from the port of Salalah in Oman,” Ebrahim Zolfaghari, a spokesman for Iran’s central military command, says in a statement.

US-Iran War: Iran Claims Striking US Vessel Near Omani Port of Salah

Amid reports suggesting that US President Donald Trump is considering using ground forces to take over Iran’s strategic Kharg Island, military analysts have raised concerns over the consequences and risks of such an operation. This comes as the war in West Asia continues to escalate since it began on February 28, after the US and Israeli military launched joint strikes on Iran. In response, Tehran has retaliated across the Gulf, targeting US and Israeli sites. It has also blocked the strategic Strait of Hormuz, triggering a global energy crisis due to the disruption in oil supply.CNN earlier reported that Washington is weighing using US troops on Kharg Island, the Islamic Republic’s key oil export terminal located in the northern Persian Gulf, as leverage over Iran to pressure it to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, it added that Iran has been laying traps, including anti-personnel and anti-armour mines around the island, and deploying additional military personnel and air defences for a possible US operation. Iran has also reportedly moved additional shoulder-fired, surface-to-air guided missile systems known as MANPADs there in recent weeks.Earlier on March 13, the US forces struck Kharg Island. Despite being only a few kilometres long, it serves as the backbone of Iran’s oil export infrastructure, with nearly 85-90 per cent of the country’s crude exports passing through the terminal on this island before being shipped to global markets.Trump had said that the US was striking military targets on Iran’s “crown jewel”. He added that “for reasons of decency”, he did not “wipe out” the oil infrastructure on the island. He further warned that he would reconsider his decision if Iran interfered with the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.<h2>What could be the consequences of US troops in Kharg Island?</h2>Experts have cautioned that any US military operation to seize the Kharg Island would result in an escalation rather than a decisive victory. Even if the US manage to seize the island, it would face repeated attacks from the Iranian mainland. Iran could launch retaliatory attacks using drones, ballistic missiles, and naval assets, targeting both troops on the island and US vessels in nearby waters. This would pose a risk of significant US casualties.Retired admiral James Stavridis, a former NATO supreme allied commander, said that he would be “very worried” about such an operation. “Iranians are clever and ruthless. They will do everything they can to inflict maximum casualties on US forces both on the ships at sea and especially once ground troops are anywhere in their sovereign territory,” he told CNN.Noting the strategic importance of the Kharg Island as Iran’s primary oil export terminal, any military operation on its land would severely disrupt global energy supplies, making the existing oil crisis worse. The situation could also result in a possibility of Iran’s ally, China, being involved in the conflict, given its reliance on Iranian oil.Ruben Stewart, senior fellow for land warfare at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, a think tank, told CNBC, “What is notably absent are the heavy armoured units, logistics depth, and command structures required for a prolonged land war. In practical terms, this is a force that can act quickly and selectively, but not one that could sustain operations deep inside Iran or over an extended period.”He added, “Seizing Kharg Island is technically feasible but escalatory, given its centrality to Iran’s oil exports. By contrast, securing Iran’s nuclear material would be the least realistic with this force as it would require a far larger, sustained ground presence.”Disclaimer: WION takes utmost care to accurately and responsibly report ongoing conflicts in West Asia involving Israel, Iran, the US, Gulf nations and non-state actors like Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, Islamic State, and others. The United States is reportedly scattering land mines in southern Iran in what seems to be the first such instance in more than 20 years. Experts have claimed that images posted on social media showed American BLU-91/B anti-tank land mines outside the city of Shiraz, close to one of the Iranian ballistic missile sites. The weapons are dropped from an aircraft as part of the gator mine scattering system. This comes as the war in West Asia entered its Day 29 on March 28.According to a Washington Post report, citing experts, the land mines may have been intended to make it difficult for mobile launchers, which are often positioned near such sites, to launch attacks. The US is the only party in the war known to possess the system.“While these land mines are meant to target armoured vehicles, they can still be extremely dangerous to civilians,” said Brian Castner, a weapons investigator with Amnesty International, as quoted by the post.Earlier, Iranian state media reported that at least one person was killed and others were injured from “explosive packages that resemble cans,” warning people to stay away from “any misshapen, deformed, or unusual metal cans.”The images were posted on social media by Canadian independent journalist Dimitri Lascaris, who has been reporting from Iran. The Telegraph reported that the mines are dropped by aircraft and explode when they sense magnetic signatures like those belonging to a large vehicle. They are often deployed with BLU-92 anti-personnel mines, although there is no image or information to suggest the latter is being used by the US.The last known deployment of these land mines by the US was during the Gulf War in 1991. The participation of Bihar, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Delhi showcased how diverse regions, with unique challenges and opportunities, are collectively contributing to India’s energy transition. Their leadership not only strengthens the power sector but also accelerates the broader vision of Viksit Bharat—a future where reliable, sustainable, and inclusive energy powers every home, industry, and aspiration.

At the summit, five key states — Bihar, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Delhi — presented ambitious and transformative roadmaps that strongly support Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat.

After mocking the United States using an AI video, the Embassy of Iran in South Africa on Friday has now shared another "fun post" on social media, indicating that drinking pomegranate juice helps in improving accuracy while launching an attack in Tel Aviv. In the post, the Embassy wrote, "drink pomegranate juice so you can hit Tel Aviv more accurately". The AI clip shows an Iranian soldier moving on a skateboard on a road while drinking juice. In the same scene, the military trucks are seen parked on one side of the road, and a missile can also be seen taking off in the background.<h3>'One vengeance for all'</h3>Two days ago, similarly, a 54-second AI clip was also released by the Iranian state media on social media titled “One Vengeance For All”, showing US‑linked wars and atrocities, along with a missile hitting the Statue of Liberty. The released video indicates the escalating situation around the ongoing Iran–US–Israel conflict. The visuals portray a historical pattern of US military involvement and alleged abuses in a major part of the world. It references events such as the displacement of Native Americans, the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, the Vietnam War, and more recent conflicts in Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq, Gaza, and the broader Palestinian region, along with Epstein Island, presenting the US as a recurring force behind global suffering. In the final moments of the clip, it shows a missile launch under the watch of Iran’s leadership, striking a reimagined Statue of Liberty whose head is replaced by Baal, a horned figure often linked to demonised interpretations of ancient beliefs. The imagery contrasts Baal worship with the worship of Allah, the true Creator. This follows Donald Trump’s announcement of a five-day pause on military strikes targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure, which he attributed to what he called “very good and productive conversations” with Iranian officials. On Tuesday, he reiterated that the United States was making progress toward negotiating an end to the conflict. Despite this optimistic tone, reports suggest that Washington has already presented Tehran with a detailed settlement proposal. According to Reuters, the plan includes a 15-point framework outlining terms to end the war, although Iran has not yet issued a formal response.&nbsp; Also read: <a href="https://www.wionews.com/trending/-thank-you-india-on-iranian-missiles-during-83rd-strike-wave-on-israel-us-1774618659282">‘Thank You India’ on Iranian missiles during 83rd strike wave on Israel, US</a>

Iran War Disrupts Global Air Travel Routes | Airfares Rise As Airlines Pass on Costs

The United States is reportedly deploying USS George HW Bush aircraft carrier, the flagship of the Bush Carrier Strike Group, to the region under the US Central Command amid the war in West Asia. CENTCOM is the major combatant command overseeing US military operations against Iran in West Asia. This comes as the war enters Day 29 on March 28, with hostilities continuing in the Gulf as Tehran retaliates against US and Israeli targets in the region.According to a CBS News report citing multiple sources, the Bush Carrier Strike Group completed its training earlier this month and is ready for deployment in major combat operations. The report added that the carrier could potentially join the US operations against Iran. The last time the Bush Carrier Strike Group was deployed was in 2022. It returned to its homeport in Norfolk in August 2023.The development comes even as US President Donald Trump has proposed a 15-point peace plan to Iran, claiming that the talks are ongoing. In his 15-point peace plan, Trump has demanded that Iran end all uranium enrichment and close Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow nuclear facilities. However, Tehran has rejected any claims of negotiation and has laid out its own terms, demanding guarantees.Earlier on Wednesday (Mar 25), the USS Ross, a guided missile destroyer assigned to the carrier strike group, deployed from Norfolk, Virginia. Guided missile destroyers USS Donald Cook and USS Mason have also left Florida this week to join Operation Epic Fury against Iran.Currently, two carrier strike groups, led by the USS Gerald R Ford and the USS Abraham Lincoln, were stationed in the Middle East since the beginning of the war against Iran. However, USS Gerald R Ford suffered a fire aboard, due to which it returned to a naval port in Souda Bay in Crete for repairs. Before that, Ford was deployed in the Caribbean last November for US military operations against Venezuela. The conflict in West Asia entered its Day 29 on March 28. Hostilities began on February 28 when the US and Israeli military launched strikes on Iran, killing Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei and several other top Iranian officials. In retaliation, Iran launched attacks on Israel and US military bases in the Gulf region. Iran has also shut down the strategic Strait of Hormuz, targeting vessels that are attempting to cross it. Tehran has stressed that the waterway remains close for the US, Israel, and nations aiding them, but open to friendly nations, including India, Russia, China, Iraq, and Pakistan. The Strait of Hormuz is the only maritime outlet for ports located in the Persian Gulf. Its blockage has significantly affected global energy supply, triggering a sharp rise in oil prices.Disclaimer: WION takes utmost care to accurately and responsibly report ongoing conflicts in West Asia involving Israel, Iran, the US, Gulf nations and non-state actors like Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, Islamic State, and others.
