Bhavina and Sonalben start their qualification rounds in Tokyo on an opening day, i.e, August 25. The qualifying rounds are scheduled for August 25, 26, and 27, while the semi-final and the final are scheduled for August 28 and 29 respectively.

The duo has been training under Coach Lalan Doshi at the Blind People`s Association in Ahmedabad. While Bhavina is ranked 8 in the World currently in her category, Sonalben is ranked 19th. Both have been recipients of the Sardar Patel Award and the Eklavya Awards and have been a medallist at the Asian Games.

Aruna Tanwar, the 21-year-old will be the sole Para-Taekwondo representative at the Paralympic Games from India. Haryana-based Aruna will participate in the Women`s under 49kg K44 category. She will be in action on September 2 from the round-of-16 rounds.

In Para Powerlifting, India is sending two of the best in Jai Deep and Sakina Khatun. While Sakina, born in West Bengal, has been training at the SAI National Center of Excellence in Bangalore, Haryana-based Jai Deep has been training at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Rohtak.&nbsp;

At least 146 people evacuated from Afghanistan reportedly reached Delhi. The flights have departed from Doha as it was the second batch of Indian nationals who were evacuated from Afghanistan.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,16,80,626, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.34 per cent, the data stated.

The 389 new fatalities include 145 from Maharashtra, 69 from Odisha and 66 from Kerala.&nbsp;

In the backdrop of the Afghanistan crisis, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security. The meet saw a full-fledged briefing on the current situation in Afghanistan but also focus on the evacuation of Indian nationals and vulnerable Afghans, especially the minorities.&nbsp;&nbsp;

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi, according to senior officials, said, "India must not only protect our citizens, but we must also provide refuge to those Sikh and Hindu minorities,&nbsp;who want to come to India, and we must also provide all possible help to our Afghan brothers and sisters,&nbsp;who are looking towards India for assistance."&nbsp;

Remember,&nbsp;India has opened emergency E visas for Afghans,&nbsp;who want to come to India. A 24x7 Special Afghanistan Cell has been brought into the function to coordinate the repatriation and requests from Afghanistan. India aims to give visas to Afghan officials,&nbsp;who worked for India, members of the civil society, and journalists.&nbsp;

Around 1,650 Indian nationals have requested for repatriation. Before Kabul fell into the hands of the Taliban on August&nbsp;15, India had got 1,500 requests from Indians wanting to come back. Since August&nbsp;15, India got 150 requests of Indians wanting to come. India is looking to get services of foreign commercial airlines, including the likes of Qatar for evacuation of its nationals.&nbsp;

The Prime Minister has instructed all "concerned officials to undertake all necessary measures to ensure the safe evacuation of Indian nationals from Afghanistan in the coming days", sources highlighted.&nbsp;

Indian mission in Kabul had issued&nbsp;four&nbsp;security advisories asking Indians to leave the country and in the latest release by MEA pointed out that, "Those already in Afghanistan were urged to return immediately while others were advised not to travel there."&nbsp;

During the meet, a detailed briefing was given to the prime minister on the current security and political situation in Afghanistan, including the recent evacuation of Indian officials, members of the Indian media, and others. The initial plan was to evacuate Indian officials from Kabul from&nbsp;August&nbsp;17 to 21 but this was preponed as the Taliban entered&nbsp;Kabul.&nbsp;

The meeting was attended by&nbsp;Defence&nbsp;Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Other than that, senior officials including Principal Secretary to PM Dr P K Mishra, NSA Ajit Doval, and Cabinet Secretary Rajeev Gauba were also present. Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan&nbsp;Shringla&nbsp;and Indian envoy to Kabul&nbsp;Rudrendra&nbsp;Tandon were also present. Important to note&nbsp;that&nbsp;Tandon had arrived on Tuesday on the C-17 flight from Kabul to&nbsp;Hindon&nbsp;via Jamnagar.&nbsp;

In a tweet,&nbsp;External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “In view of the prevailing circumstances, it has been decided that our Ambassador in Kabul and his Indian staff will move to India immediately.”&nbsp;

The situation has worsened in Afghanistan&nbsp;after the country was&nbsp;taken over by the Taliban.&nbsp;Thousands of people in desperation to flee&nbsp;the&nbsp;country&nbsp;thronged Kabul's airport on Monday.&nbsp;

On Monday, an&nbsp;IAF&nbsp;heavy-lift transport aircraft brought back some personnel to India. The&nbsp;Tuesday's flight is the second one to bring the officials.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“I want to congratulate the people in India on 75 years of Independence. The strength of the relationship between the world's two biggest democracies is more important now than ever,” said Warner, Co-Chair of the powerful Senate India Caucus. This is the largest bilateral caucus in the United States Senate.

For 75 years, he said, India has moved into the future as a strong, resilient democracy.

“We have seen that strength through the challenges of the last 14 months as India, America and the world has been challenged by Covid-19,” Warner said in a special video message.

It was 74 years ago that India emancipated itself from British rule and began a long and storied journey toward becoming the biggest democracy in the world, said Senator Cornyn, Co-Chair of the Senate India Caucus.

As co-founder of the Senate India caucus, Cornyn said he knows firsthand the importance of a strong relationship between the United States and India.

Joining people of India and Indian-Americans in celebrating the 75th anniversary of India's independence, Senator Rick Scott said that the United States is proud to support India, the world's largest democracy and America’s important partner and to celebrate the many contributions of our Indian American community.

“Congratulations on 75 years of independence. I hope you have a wonderful celebration,” Scott said in a video message.

Senator Robert Menendez, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said that he is proud to join friends in Indian and Indian-American communities in New Jersey and around the world as Independence Day festivities begin.

“We recognise India’s rich heritage and many global contributions, and commit to building on our countries' strong bond,” he said.

Sending her independence day greetings, Sunita Williams mentioned the rich history of collaboration between India and the United States in space.

“NASA and ISRO have cooperated in many different areas, including Earth and space science. Additionally, NASA has provided deep space communication and navigation support for ISRO’s missions to the Moon and Mars,” she said.

“Exploring space is a global enterprise where we all need to work together. I am especially interested in following the progress of Gaganyaan, India's first human spaceflight mission,” Williams said.
