<p>A prehistoric man, believed to have drowned around 4,000 years ago, has been reconstructed to show his likely appearance during his lifetime. A team from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim created this image&nbsp;using measurements of his skeletal remains and DNA data.</p>

<p>The remains were first discovered in 1916 on the island of Hitra, located off Norway's west coast, by workers upgrading a road to a farm. These remains belong to a man who died in his mid-20s around 4,000 years ago, near the end of the Stone Age, as reported by Newsweek.</p>

<p>At the time of the man's death, the sea level in the area was higher than it is today, and the site where his remains were found would have been approximately 13 feet underwater. Therefore, archaeologists speculate that he may have drowned.</p>

Furthermore, through DNA analyses of several other individuals from the same era with comparable genetic profiles, experts managed to reconstruct the colour of his hair, skin, and eyes. These examinations revealed that he had blonde&nbsp;hair and blue eyes.</p>

<p>Skar indicated&nbsp;that artefacts discovered alongside the man imply a possible "warrior" status. These items include a dagger and an arm guard—a bone object shaped like an oblong, meant to safeguard the wrist of one hand while using a bow and arrow.</p>

Face of Stone Age man thought to have drowned 4,000 years ago reconstructed

<p>So NASA sends rockets in space and clicks nice pictures. Yes, we know. But the space agency has a robust social media presence and even if a post is sort of a repeat, the way it is presented sparks a renewed interest about that particular celestial body. On Thursday (Feb 22), NASA threw a riddle at its followers on Instagram.</p>

<p>"We’ve got another Hubble puzzle for you to solve. What do you think this image is? Comment your guess before time runs out!...," says NASA in its post. The actual post is not a usual image but one that is revealed gradually in tiles that resemble pieces of a puzzle.</p>

<p>The black spots give way to a splendid, yet intriguing picture that resembles a cat's eye. And indeed this nebula is called Cat's Eye Nebula.</p>

<p>The Cat's Eye Nebula is also designated as 'NGC 6543'. It is a planetary nebula that's in the northern constellation called Draco. This particular image was taken by Hubble Space Telescope, the predecessor of James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).</p>

<p>It is often tricky to find distance between Earth and such nebulae as the latter are just mass of gas and dust. But after years of careful observation through the lenses of Hubble, scientists have concluded that the Cat's Eye Nebula is 3,300 lightyears away from us.</p>

NASA posts intriguing image of 'cat's eye' in the sky

<p>In an innovative use of artificial intelligence, the famous Shroud of Turin was made a starting point for producing an image which appears to match the marks on the controversial cloth.</p>

<p>The latest AI image of Jesus Christ was created by Midjourney software, as per the Daily Star, which said that the image was commissioned by them to mark the 90th anniversary of the first time the famous Shroud of Turin was placed on public display.</p>

<p>In the idealised image, a man is seen with long hair and a beard. Sharing the photo, author Lee Strobel wrote on X, “According to Artificial Intelligence, this is what Jesus looked like if the Shroud of Turin is authentic.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per the New York Post, the software was used even before. "Everyone I’ve shared my work with can’t believe how real the pictures really look,” said Duncan Thomsen, adding that AI software Midjourney was used by him through the Discord app.</p>

<p>The shroud’s ownership was passed to the House of Savoy in 1453. The shroud was damaged in a fire in a chapel of Chambéry, which is the capital of Savoy, in 1532 and it was repaired with patches by nuns from the Order of Saint Clare.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Duke of Savoy in 1578 shifted the shroud from Chambéry to Turin in northern Italy and since then, it has remained there. It remains in the Chapel of the Holy Shroud at Turin Cathedral.</p>

Distant star in death throes reveals itself in James Webb telescope’s stunning image

<p>A backyard astrophotographer captured a stunning image of the International Space Station (ISS) laboratory transiting a crescent moon at a speed of more than 17,000 miles per hour.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Andrew McCarthy, who is known for clicking breathtaking photos of the cosmos, recently published a photo which showed the massive 356-foot-long orbiting laboratory transiting a massive crescent moon. The laboratory appeared like a shiny speck and the moon's crated surface was clearly visible.&nbsp;</p>

<p>McCarthy stated that he went to a remote location in the Sonoran Desert and placed his equipment among cacti in 105°F (40.5&nbsp;degree Celsius) heat with hopes of&nbsp;capturing&nbsp;details of the station which is rarely visible.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"This transit happened at 4:50 pm, so the sun was still out. That made the moon much lower contrast and difficult to focus on using my equipment. Thankfully, the ISS still shines brightly enough to capture in conditions like this," he said.</p>

<p>The ISS is stationed 254 miles above the surface of Earth and 238,900 miles from the moon. The massive craft travels five miles per second and completes a full moon transit in around half a second.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Shooting in desert</strong></h2>

<p>Two telescopes were set up by McCarthy in the desert in case one does not work during the mission, something which had happened to him in the past.</p>

<p>"I use two telescopes for multiple reasons," stated McCarthy in a press release.</p>

<p>“Compared to previous infrared images, we see the incredible detail that we haven’t been able to access before,” stated Tea Temim who works at Princeton University, New Jersey.</p>

<p>Temim has been working as the Web programme's co-investigator and was involved in capturing the images. Cas A was widely studied in different observatories by other telescopes which included the Chandra X-ray Observatory and NASA’s Hubble Telescope.</p>

<p>However, the new mid-infrared images which were clicked by Webb hold a huge amount of new scientific information.</p>

<p>NASA said that Cas A can help scientists find the origin of cosmic dust. This discovery is important because cosmic dust is the building of what becomes planets, stars and eventually, life.</p>

<p>The AI image, in which the Pope is seen donning a bejewelled crucifix and holding in one hand what looks like a coffee cup, was posted for the first time on Reddit on Friday with the title "The Pope Drip" as part of a subreddit called r/midjourney. The image was generated using an AI programme called Midjourney.</p>

<p>NASA has now shared the image of 'night lights' on the Earth. The light emitted by human settlements across the globe is discernible from space as well, and NASA has clicked image of the dark side of the Earth to reveal how beautiful a thing this can be to behold!</p>

And while it remains glued to the endless expanse of the space, it at times turns its lenses on our home planet as well. NASA has now shared the image of 'night lights' on the Earth. The light emitted by human settlements across the globe is discernible from space as well, and NASA has clicked image of the dark side of the Earth to reveal how beautiful a thing this can be to behold! "This image of Earth at night provides a clear view of the patterns of human settlements across our planet...," says NASA in its Instagram post. "...Satellite images of Earth at night – often referred to as “night lights” – provide a broad beautiful picture showing how humans shaped the planet and lit up the darkness..." It is almost possible to pinpoint cities and regions. If you take a look at north Africa, the densely populated strip along the Nile river is clearly visible. European cities dot the landscape further above. While in the east, India shines with its network of cities, all emitting a resplendent light into the sky. NASA captures beautiful ‘night lights’ cast in space by our cities

<p>Can you 'hear' an image? This sentence itself appears contradictory. We see images and hear sounds. But how can we hear images? Scientifically speaking, there is a process that uses audio to give users a perception of data. This is called sonification. The concept is interesting in itself but when you associate that with an image clicked by James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), it becomes all the more fascinating.</p>

<p>NASA has teamed up with scientists, musicians and a member of visually impaired community to carry out sonification of an image. It is an image of a nebula. More specifically Carina Nebula. Nebulas are nurseries of stars. New stars are born there.</p>

<p>The sonification of the image is aimed at aiding blind individuals to 'see' the image with help of sound.</p>

<p>“These compositions provide a different way to experience the detailed information in Webb’s first data. Similar to how written descriptions are unique translations of visual images, sonifications also translate the visual images by encoding information, like colour, brightness, star locations, or water absorption signatures, as sounds,” said Quyen Hart, a senior education and outreach scientist at the Space Telescope Science Institute, in a NASA press statement.</p>

<p>Our idea of life and nature is so Earth-centric that it's hard for us to imagine that some of other planets have atmospheres too. Take Mars for example. It has a very thin atmosphere. But atmosphere nonetheless. Winds blow&nbsp;on Martian&nbsp;surface too. It's just that its intensity is way less than that on Earth.</p>

<p>The European Space Agency (ESA) has released a picture that shows effect of Martian wind on the surface of the planet. Just like the wind here on Earth, the Martian wind sculpts surface of the red planet.</p>

<p>The image is of The Hooke Crater area located in Mars' southern highlands. The image was clicked from orbit by ESA and Russian space agency Roscosmos' ExoMars Trace Gas orbitter.&nbsp;</p>

<p>ESA has shared the image on its Instagram handle. The ripples in the Martian soil and some hillocks can be seen in the picture.</p>

<p>"The devil's definitely in the detail‼️ Chaotic mounds, wind-sculpted ripples and dust devil tracks: this image shows a fascinating and otherworldly landscape near Hooke Crater in Mars’ southern highlands..." says ESA in the Instagram post.</p>

<p>"...This type of scenery is similar to ‘chaotic terrain’: a kind of broken, disrupted terrain seen across Mars where haphazard groups of variously sized and shaped rocks – irregular knobs, conical mounds, ridges, flat-topped hills known as mesas – clump together, often enclosed within depressions. The European Space Agency (ESA) has released a picture that shows effect of Martian wind on the surface of the planet. Just like the wind here on Earth, the Martian wind sculpts surface of the red planet. The image is of The Hooke Crater area located in Mars' southern highlands. The image was clicked from orbit by ESA and Russian space agency Roscosmos' ExoMars Trace Gas orbitter. ESA has shared the image on its Instagram handle. The ripples in the Martian soil and some hillocks can be seen in the picture. <p>Other Maxar images showed a build-up at the Soloti staging ground in Russia close to the Ukrainian border, with photos shot at the start of December showing a larger concentration of military hardware than in September.</p>

<p>Tensions between Russia and Ukraine escalated in mid-November after Washington warned of a massive Russian troop build-up on Ukraine's border. NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg had offered to start talks with Russian officials year next year without setting a date to discuss the situation in Ukraine.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Ukraine's Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is determined to destroy Ukraine.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The images have been taken by the Copernicus Sentinel-1 satellite, around 12 hours after the eruption. They show how the uninhabited volcanic island had vanished after the blast.</p>

<p>An underwater volcano off Tonga erupted on Saturday, triggering a tsunami on the shores of Tonga and cutting off phone and internet lines for the entire island.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As of now, there are no official reports of injuries or deaths in the region.&nbsp;</p>
