"One of the reasons why they acted like they did... why Hamas moved on Israel... (was) because they knew I was about to sit down with the Saudis," Biden told guests at a campaign fundraiser.

"The Saudis wanted to recognize Israel... unite the Middle East," he said.

The positive momentum towards normalisation of ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia, guardian of Islam's two holiest sites, was destroyed as Hamas terrorists&nbsp;attacked Israel on October 7.

Hamas fighters stormed into Israel from the Gaza Strip. They took more than 200 hostages and killed at least 1400 people, as per data with Israeli officials.

In the conflict this attack sparked, Israel has vowed to destroy Hamas. It has said that about 1500 of the group's fighters have been killed.

The US government under President Joe Biden has pressed Saudi Arabia to join the accords. Riyadh has, in exchange demanded security guarantees from Washington and help in developing a civil nuclear programme.

The Western nations were further deplored by Prince Turki al-Faisal for crying over Israelis killed in the war but "refusing to express sorrow" over Palestinians who have also lost their lives.

Prince Turki al-Faisal stated that every militarily occupied region has a right to defend themselves "even militarily". He further slammed Israel for its military action in Gaza stating that in the current scenario, the right option would have been "civil insurrection and disobedience".

"Israel has an overwhelming military superiority, and we see in front of our eyes, the devastation and oblivion it is bringing to the people of Gaza," said Prince Turki al-Faisal, while speaking at a congregation at the Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University in Houston, US. 
 
"I categorically condemn Hamas’ targeting of civilian targets of any age or gender, as it is accused of," he said, further stating that such acts defy the claims of "Islamic identity" and Islamic injunctions made by the group which are against desecrating places of worship and killing civilians. 
 
Prince Turki al-Faisal further condemned both the Israeli government and Hamas.

Israel has now been planning to launch a ground offensive. Minister Gallant, while speaking to a parliamentary committee on Friday (Oct 20), said that the campaign's first stage aimed at destroying the infrastructure of Hamas, as per a statement from his office.

In 2005, even though Israel withdrew from Gaza, the strip, East Jerusalem and the West Bank were considered by the United Nations as occupied land and it was seen as Israel's responsibility to provide the population with basic needs.

"These trucks are not just trucks - they are a lifeline, they are the difference between life and death to many people in Gaza. What we need is to make them move,” he said.
