Local media reported at least 10 had been killed, and CARDH director Gedeon Jean said the final number would likely be higher, adding that several people were wounded and some churchgoers had been kidnapped.

To report the incident, a driver dialled 911 and informed that a woman had brandished a gun at them around 4:40 pm on the I-80 span, which passes the San Francisco Bay, said police.&nbsp;

According to the police, the woman suddenly stopped in the middle of the lane, stepped out of her car holding a knife and started yelling at other drivers, as per the cops.

The woman then got back inside the car and started driving to Oakland. However, she again stopped her car at a toll plaza, and got down with a gun and without clothing this time, officers told The New York Post.

<h2>Police takes woman into custody</h2>

The unidentified nude woman then turned around and started randomly firing at the cars, filled with passengers, which were standing behind her, said the police.

In the video footage, the woman was captured walking naked and firing her weapon indiscriminately into the air before the officers came and convinced her to leave her weapon, finally taking the woman into custody, said the police.&nbsp;

No one was reportedly injured and what motivated the&nbsp;incident remains&nbsp;unclear. The woman was admitted for her mental health in a local hospital and will be booked on unspecified charges upon her release, said the police.&nbsp;

“Due to the severity of the incident here, there are criminal charges that can be filed. So what we have to do is we have to allow the hospital to do its job. Give her the treatment and help that she needs and then once she is released from that, then, we can take her into custody,” stated CHP officer Andrew Barclay, according to NBC Bay Area.

“We are grateful no one was harmed in this incident. Our officers were able to get there, de-escalate that situation, get her to drop her weapon and take her into custody. I don’t have anything to parallel this to. I don’t have another incident that I can compare this to,” he added.

Runaway bride with a bang: Woman fires gun at own wedding, on the run fearing arrest

Two deputies from Mississippi sheriff department allegedly abused their power and shoved guns into mouth of a Black man, an investigation by Associated Press revealed at a time when debates of police brutality and racial bias continues in the country.&nbsp;

The incident&nbsp;has led to the Justice Department to open a civil rights investigation into the Rankin County Sheriff's Office.

As per reports, two men levelled allegations against the deputies accusing them of assault. One man named Michael Corey Jenkins&nbsp;said that the deputy not only shoved his gun into his mounth but pulled the trigger too which resulted in inflicting potential injuries to his tongue which he had to get operated on to sew back.&nbsp;

In their defence, the two deputies said that Jenkins was shot as he pointed a gun at them. However, there was no comment made by the sheriff's officials on if there was a weapon present at the scene. Jenkins' attorney, Malik Shabazz, on the other hand, said his client didn't have a gun.

"They had complete control of him the entire time. Six officers had full and complete control of Michael the entire time," Shabazz said. "So that's just a fabrication."

Another man's mother said that her son purportedly became the victim of police abuse when a deputy kneeled on his neck in a manner that it was difficult for him to even breathe. The findings also unearths that the deputies were broadly involved in four such violent encounters since 2019, which resulted in the death of two other men.&nbsp;

The county has about 120 sherrif deputies. The accused deputies joined the sheriff's office's Special Response Team (SRT). The SRT is a special purpose tactical squad which are mostly employed at a time when there is a law enforcement confrontation which requires advanced training. They are specially equipped individuals who are trained for a variety of situation.&nbsp;

These deputies joined the tactical team, however, as per the investigation it is unclear weather the deputies were serving in their normal capacity or as members of the unit.

The man died after battling for his life few weeks later. It is not known whether the man neglected safety instruction or forgot to put his gun away before he approached the MRI machine.

Leandro Mathias de Novaes (40), the deceased, was a lawyer and vocal supporter of gun rights. He had taken his mother to Laboratorio Cura in São Paulo, Brazil, for an MRI ( magnetic resonance imaging) scan on January 16.

Clinical staff reportedly told them to leave all metallic objects outside the scanning room before entering.

"We would like to emphasize that all accident prevention protocols were followed by the Cura team, as is customary in all units," a spokesperson for the facility told The Telegraph.

"Both the patient and his companion were properly instructed regarding the procedures for accessing the examination room and warned about the removal of any and all metallic objects."

An MRI machine generates magnetic field in order to image internal organs accurately. This magnetic field is enough to pull objects towards it or at least cause a magnetic effect on them.

The gun which the Novaes was carrying under his clothes, went off, injuring him in the abdomen. He was rushed to Sao Luiz Morumbi Hospital where he passed away few weeks later.

The parts of the new gun law which will be blocked in three days’ time are – Submission of social media accounts for review and the submission of four character references for approval of a gun license. The State of New York was given till Sunday this week to challenge the court ruling.

One person has died and four people have been seriously injured in a Fourth of July shooting at a residence in Kenosha, Wisconsin, police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. at a home in the 6300 block of 25th Avenue when authorities responded to reports of a shooting at the house and encountered a “chaotic scene with obvious evidence of multiple gunshots being fired,” according to a statement released by the City of Kenosha Police Department.

Officers have a house surrounded by crime scene tape as the investigation into the July Fourth shooting continues. Authorities say they do not have a suspect in custody and have not commented on a possible motive.

“There were five victims from this shooting, all adults,” authorities continued. “One of the victims is deceased. The other four victims were transported to local hospitals with two being transferred to Milwaukee area hospitals due to serious injuries.”

As of now, the Kenosha Police Department say there is no known motive, no suspects in custody and that the investigation into the shooting is “open and active.”

Are the sanctions against Russia useful? Yes, they are already hitting Vladimir Putin and his accomplices hard, and their effects on the Russian economy will increase over time. Since Russia deliberately violated international law by invading Ukraine, the EU has adopted six packages of sanctions against Moscow. Our measures now target nearly 1,200 individuals and 98 entities in Russia, as well as a significant number of sectors of the Russian economy. These sanctions were adopted in coordination with the G7 members. Their effectiveness is enhanced by the fact that over forty other countries (including traditionally neutral countries) have adopted them or taken similar measures.

By the end of 2022, we will have reduced our Russian oil imports by 90%, and we are rapidly reducing our gas imports as well. These decisions are gradually freeing us from a dependence that has long inhibited our political choices in the face of Vladimir Putin's aggressiveness. He probably believed that Europe would not dare to engage in sanctions because of its energy dependence. This is not the most insignificant of the Russian regime's many miscalculations during this conflict. Of course, weaning ourselves off Russian energy so rapidly also creates serious difficulties for many EU countries and for several economic sectors. But this is the price we have to pay for defending our democracies and international law, and we are taking the necessary steps to deal with these problems in full solidarity.&nbsp;

Some may ask, Do these sanctions really have an impact on the Russian economy? The simple answer is yes. Although Russia exports a lot of raw materials, it also has no choice but to import many high value-added products that it does not manufacture. For all advanced technologies, it is 45% dependent on Europe and 21% on the United States, compared with only 11% on China.

In the military field, which is crucial in the context of the war in Ukraine, the sanctions limit Russia's capacity to produce precision missiles such as the Iskander or the KH 101. Almost all foreign car manufacturers have also decided to withdraw from Russia, and the few cars produced by Russian manufacturers will be sold without airbags or automatic transmission.

The oil industry is suffering not only from the departure of foreign operators but also from the difficulty of accessing advanced technologies such as horizontal drilling. The ability of the Russian industry to bring new wells on stream is likely to be limited. Finally, in order to maintain air traffic, Russia will have to withdraw a majority of its aircraft from circulation in order to recover the spare parts needed to allow the others to fly. Added to this, there is also the loss of access to financial markets, being disconnected from major global research networks and a massive brain drain.

As for the alternative offered by China to the Russian economy, in reality, it remains limited, especially for high-tech products. To date, the Chinese government, which is very dependent on its exports to developed countries, has not assisted Russia in circumventing Western sanctions. Chinese exports to Russia have fallen in line with those of Western countries.

Will these significant and growing impacts lead Vladimir Putin to modify his strategic calculations? Probably not in the immediate future, since his actions are not guided primarily by economic logic. However, by forcing him to choose either butter or guns, the sanctions lock him in a vice that is gradually tightening.

Regarding the impact of these sanctions on third countries, particularly African countries, which depend on Russian and Ukrainian wheat and fertilisers, where responsibility lies in terms of the food crisis is clear. Our sanctions do not, in any shape or form, target Russian wheat or fertiliser exports while Ukraine is prevented from exporting its wheat by the Black Sea blockade and destruction caused by Russian aggression. If such issues linked to our sanctions were to arise, we are ready to put in place the appropriate mechanisms to address them. I have informed my African counterparts of this and asked them not to be fooled by the Russian authorities' untruths regarding our sanctions.

The real answer to the difficulties in the world energy and food markets is an end to the war. This cannot be achieved by accepting the Russian diktat, it can only be achieved by Russia's withdrawal from Ukraine. Respect for the territorial integrity of states and the non-use of force are not Western or European principles. They are the basis of all international law. Russia is blithely trampling on them. To accept such a violation would open the door to the law of the jungle on a global scale.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Contrary to what we thought rather naively just a few years ago, economic interdependence does not automatically imply a pacification of international relations. This is why the transition to a Europe as a power, which I have been calling for since the beginning of my mandate, is imperative. Faced with the invasion of Ukraine, we have begun to move from intention to action by showing that, when provoked, Europe can respond. Since we do not want to go to war with Russia, economic sanctions are now at the core of this response. They are already beginning to have an effect and will do so even more in the coming months.
