<p>On Wednesday (Aug 28), districts in the Saurashtra region, such as Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Rajkot, and Porbandar, received between 50mm and 200 mm of rain in 12 hours ending at 6 pm.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bhanvad taluka of Devbhumi Dwarka district received 185 mm of rainfall during this period, the highest in the state,&nbsp;Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.</p>

<p>According to Gujarat health minister Rushikesh Patel, more than 5,000 people have been rehabilitated so far, news agency ANI reported.</p>

<p>Earlier on Wednesday (Aug 28), Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and assured him of all possible support and assistance from the Union government.</p>

<p>A press release by IMD for the Saurashtra and Kutch region states, "heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely on 27th August; heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely on 28th &amp; 29th August and heavy rainfall at isolated places on 30th August."</p>

<p>Baroda received maximum rainfall in the state of 280 mm between 8:30 am on August 26 and 5:30 am on August 27. While 120 mm of rain was recorded in Ahmedabad and 190 mm in Rajkot.</p>

<p>The state has been witnessing a flood-like situation since Monday after which National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams carried out rescue and relief operations.</p>

<p>"The water level increased in the morning, causing water to enter the Hanuman Bhagda and Valsad areas, disrupting road connectivity. We rescued a pregnant woman," NDRF inspector Ramesh Kumar told ANI.</p>

<p>IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in East Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday (Aug 27). Very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in West Madhya Pradesh. Rajasthan is likely to witness similar conditions till August 29.</p>

<p>The weather department has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal regions over the next two days.</p>

<p>IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Tuesday as light to moderate rainfall is expected, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.</p>

<p>Heavy rainfall warning has also been issued for seven districts of Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Bilaspur.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to officials, the NDRF teams rescued over 1,000 people on Saturday along with some crocodiles, dogs and other animals.</p>

<p>The water level has increased in Ambika, Purna and Cauveri rivers causing it to burst into cities and creating a flood-like situation across the state.</p>

<p>Several crocodiles have also wandered into cities due to overflowing rivers.</p>

<p>Local police and NGOs are also carrying out rescue operations in the state.</p>

<p>"We have rescued several crocodiles from different areas with the help of local police and NDRF. There is water-logging and rains. We have given the rescued crocodiles to the forest department," said Neha Patel, an NGO member engaged in rescue operations.&nbsp;<br />

<p>&quot;I announce ex-gratia of Rs&nbsp;2 lakh from the Prime Minister&#39;s Relief Fund to the next kin of those killed in the Gujarat floods, and Rs. 50,000 to those injured, apart from the funds provided by the state government,&quot; Prime Minister Modi said after undertaking the aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Gujarat today.</p>

<p>He said more than Rs&nbsp;500 crore would be provided by the Centre to the State Disaster Management to provide relief at this time of emergency.</p>

<p>IANS reported that the death toll had risen to 83.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Prime Minister assured that officers from the Government of India will provide all the assistance in short-term and long-term measures to the people in the region.</p>

<p>&quot;Even if we expect more rainfall, relief work will be further intensified. The ministries of Urban and Rural development of the Indian Government will also take the stock of the situation and will provided the necessary assistance to people,&quot; he said.</p>

<p>He further said that the Center will provide all sort of the relief to people of Gujarat, whether it is agricultural relief, infrastructural relief or others.</p>

<p>&quot;The people of Gujarat are blessed with a spirit of resilience. These floods will not impact the developmental journey of Gujarat,&quot; he said.</p>

<p>Prime Minister Modi also praised Chief Minister Vijay Rupani-led state Government for its swift action during this natural calamity.</p>

<p>Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi conducted an aerial survey of the flood affected areas in Gujarat.</p>

<p>Heavy rains in Gujarat in the past few weeks have wreaked havoc in the state due to flooding in several parts of the state.</p>

<p>According to reports, 70 people have died in Gujarat due to rains till now. As many as 25,000 people have been shifted, mostly in Banaskantha, as the district witnessed its worst floods in recent years on Monday.</p>

<p>The affected people have been given food packets and provided shelter at a temporary relief camp.</p>

<p>Due to excessive rainfall and heavy flooding, water entered many houses and residential areas in Gujarat&#39;s Patan.</p>

<p>The two dams in Gujarat - Sipu and Dantiwada, both in Banaskantha - have been overflowing due to excess inflow of water and the heavy downpour adding more to it.</p>

<p>This overflow forced authorities to open seven gates of the Sipu dam and release 50,000 cusecs of water.</p>

<p>The Army and Air Force reached the flood-hit Deesa of Banaskantha district for rescue operations. The Army, IAF, NDRF and local teams have intensified rescue and relief operations as several parts of the two districts were inundated with flood water.</p>
