Former top executives of Twitter, including former CEO Parag Agrawal, have sued Elon Musk, claiming he owes them nearly $130 million after taking over the social media company which he renamed X.

The lawsuit, filed in a California federal court on Monday, accuses Musk of using "his wealth and power to run roughshod over anyone who disagrees with him".

"Musk doesn't pay his bills, believes the rules don't apply to him," it states, as quoted by AFP.

<h2>The top executives suing Musk</h2>

Former CEO Parag Agrawal, who is seeking $57.4 million in benefits, former CFO Ned Segal, who is asking for $44.5 million along with former chief legal officer Vijaya Gadde and the company's then General Counsel Sean Edgett, are behind this lawsuit.

Musk fired Agrawal, Gadde, and Segal from their positions in late October 2022 after his contentious $44 billion takeover of Twitter. The lawsuit, citing a recent biography, claims that Musk ensured the executives could not resign from the company before he fired them in the immediate aftermath of the takeover.

The executives claim that they were denied severance pay and that they are owed one year's salary and hundreds of thousands of stock options.

"Because Musk decided he didn't want to pay plaintiffs' severance benefits, he simply fired them without reason, then made up (a) fake cause and appointed employees of his various companies to uphold his decision."

"This is the Musk playbook: to keep the money he owes other people, and force them to sue him," they state in the 39-page lawsuit.&nbsp;

They also allege that their efforts to "appropriately and vigorously" represent the interests of Twitter's public shareholders during Musk's attempt to back out of the deal led to Musk vowing revenge against them.&nbsp;

"For their efforts, Musk vowed a lifetime of revenge," says the lawsuit.

<h2>X's troubles</h2>

In a separate case, Agrawal, Gadde, and Segal are suing Musk to be reimbursed for the costs of litigation, investigations, and congressional inquiries related to their former roles at Twitter.

In addition, X faces two proposed class actions demanding severance payments of at least $500 million for laid-off workers after Musk's acquisition, and a third lawsuit from six former senior managers making similar claims. X has denied wrongdoing.

Previously, the social media giant faced lawsuits for not paying its former PR firm, landlords, vendors, and consultants.

Musk, who describes himself as a "free speech absolutist," promised to remove restrictions on Twitter after acquiring the platform. Following the takeover, Twitter was renamed X, and its staff numbers were significantly reduced, with content moderation being de-prioritised and many previously banned accounts being reinstated. Subsequently, many advertisers have left the platform.&nbsp;

After more than nine months, Tesla owner Elon Musk has again lost the title of the richest person in the world. Musk was toppled from the highest position in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and the place was taken by Amazon.com's founder Jeff Bezos after shares in Tesla Inc. fell by 27 per cent on Monday (Mar 4). Currently, Musk has a net worth of $197.7 billion and the fortune of Bezos is $200.3 billion. This is the first time since 2021 that 60-year-old Bezos has topped the rankings of the richest people published by Bloomberg. Also Read: 'Doesn't pay his bills': Former Twitter executives sue Elon Musk for withholding $130mn in unpaid benefits The gap in the wealth owned by 52-year-old Musk, and Bezos, which at one point was almost $142 billion, has been declining. Although both belong to the "Magnificent Seven stocks" which have rallied US equity markets, since late 2022, the shares of Amazon have more than doubled. The shares of Tesla, which had peaked in 2021, are down by 50 per cent. What led Bezos atop the wealth rankings? A major chunk of Bezos's fortune is generated from his 9 per cent stake in Amazon. He is the largest shareholder of the online retailer even after he unloaded 50 million shares, which were worth nearly $8.5 billion last month. In 2017, Bezos became the world's richest person after taking over Microsoft Inc co-founder Bill Gates. However, due to a massive rally in Tesla shares, Musk remained at the top spot for much of 2021 and Bezos kept lurking behind. Elon Musk is again toppled as world's richest person. Here's who has replaced him this time

Tesla's shares experienced a drop of more than 7 per cent on Monday following reports of a decline in sales in China for February.

The dip in sales in its key market has cast a shadow on the outlook for Tesla's global deliveries, especially amid mounting challenges such as diminishing demand and heightened competition.

The Lunar New Year holidays in China likely contributed to the slowdown in sales during February, affecting car purchasing activities in the region.

Tesla's sales in China, a crucial market for the EV giant, witnessed a decline in February, with sales of China-made vehicles dropping by 19 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Data from the China Passenger Car Association revealed that Tesla sold 60,365 vehicles during the month, marking the lowest volume since December 2022.

The Tesla Shanghai factory, which manufactures Model Y and Model 3 electric cars for the local market, Europe, and other countries, accounted for over half of Tesla's global deliveries last year.

The slump in Tesla's China sales has raised concerns among investors and analysts, particularly regarding the company's ability to sustain its global delivery momentum.

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives described the situation as a "perfect storm of headwinds" for Tesla in China, highlighting the negative impact on the company's stock performance.

In response to the challenging market conditions, Tesla has implemented several measures, including price cuts and incentives, to stimulate demand and fend off competition from Chinese rivals like BYD.

Tesla unveiled more incentives this week, including as insurance reimbursements, to draw customers in the biggest car market globally.

However, the competitive landscape in China has intensified, with BYD launching a new version of its best-selling car at a price lower than its predecessor.

This move has escalated a price war among EV manufacturers, further complicating Tesla's efforts to regain momentum in the region. BYD also reported a significant decline in sales, down 37 per cent from the previous year.

In the United States, Tesla has introduced various incentives to stimulate sales, including offering 5,000 free Supercharging miles to customers who trade in their older vehicles for a new Tesla vehicle by March 31.

Additionally, Tesla temporarily reduced prices for some of its Model Y cars in February.

Analyst Troy Teslike revised his forecast for Tesla's global deliveries for the first quarter of this year, citing weaker-than-expected sales in China despite price cuts as indicative of "a demand problem."

Tesla had previously warned of "notably lower" sales growth for the year ahead as it focuses on ramping up production of its cheaper electric vehicles.

Elon Musk: No longer the world's richest person

Meanwhile, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has renounced his title as the richest person in the world.

According to a Forbes report, he is now surpassed by Bernard Arnault, the chairman and CEO of LVMH.

Tesla's shares declined approximately 6.3 per cent on Monday, contributing to a significant drop in value this year, largely attributed to the aftermath of Musk's $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.

Musk's wealth, primarily tied to Tesla stock, soared during the carmaker's ascent, witnessing a surge of over 1,000 per cent in just two years.

Arnault, who holds over 60 per cent of LVMH's voting share class through various holding vehicles and family trusts, is estimated to be worth $186.2 billion by Forbes.

Meanwhile, Musk's fortune is closely linked to his Tesla shares, where he owns around 14.11 per cent of the outstanding shares, with a market value of $530 billion.

Additionally, Musk's ownership of more than 40 per cent of SpaceX shares further contributes to his net worth, boosted by the company's estimated valuation of $125 billion as of June 2022.

Despite a challenging year for stocks, LVMH shares have only experienced a modest decline of 1.5 per cent in 2022.

The luxury conglomerate, headquartered in Paris and listed on Euronext Paris, continues to demonstrate resilience amidst market volatility.

The shift in rankings, reflecting Arnault's ascent to the top of the wealth index, has been acknowledged by both Forbes and the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, although the latter uses slightly different methodologies for its assessments.

Elon Musk has initiated legal action against OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, and its CEO Sam Altman, alleging a departure from the company's original mission of developing artificial intelligence (AI) for the betterment of humanity without a profit motive.

Musk claims that Altman and Greg Brockman, the co-founders of OpenAI, initially sought his involvement to establish an open-source, non-profit entity.

According to the lawsuit filed in San Francisco on Thursday, Musk contends that OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, deviated from its original commitment by prioritising profit over its altruistic objectives.

The legal complaint underscores the alleged breach of contract and asserts that OpenAI has maintained a veil of secrecy around the design of GPT-4, its most advanced AI model.

As of now, there has been no immediate response from OpenAI, Microsoft, or Musk to requests for comments from Reuters.

Musk, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015 but stepped down from its board in 2018, is known for his involvement in various ventures, including electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, rocket company SpaceX, and his acquisition of Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022.

Notably, Altman, a serial entrepreneur, faced dismissal from OpenAI's former board last year, with the board emphasising its commitment to safeguarding the company's mission of developing AI for the benefit of humanity. Altman later returned to the company with a new initial board.

Elon Musk files lawsuit against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman for abandoning firm's founding mission

Elon Musk, CEO of electric carmaker Tesla, had to step-in after the company ordered 4000 pies from a small bakery and then cancelled it. Giving Pies, the bakery in California, has now said that the outstanding bill is paid, said reports in media.

The Guardian reported that Voahangy Rasetarinera, the African-American owner of the bakery, told the news outlet that Tesla has paid, "...the $2k that I was out of".

The bakery in San Jose, California got a last-minute order of 2000 pies from the company on Valentine's Day. This meant a business of USD 6000 for the small bakery. As per reports, Tesla doubled the initial order to 4000 pies, and later cancelled the whole order.

Giving Pies owner Rasetarinera took to social media to say that to cater to Tesla, her bakery had to overlook other Black History Month catering inquiries before getting ready for the mammoth order. The bakery then had to purchase large amount of supplies in advance and the owner had to prepare the workforce “demanding production schedule”.

Sudden cancellation of the order made all these efforts, and money, go to waste.&nbsp;

“To me, it was clear that Tesla’s corporate culture prioritized convenience over accountability, disregarding the livelihoods of small business owners like myself,” said Rasetarinera.

“This experience serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability faced by small businesses when dealing with larger corporations. Despite our best efforts to uphold our commitments and provide quality service, we are often left at the mercy of decisions made in corporate boardrooms.”

Elon Musk, CEO of electric carmaker Tesla, had to step-in after the company ordered 4000 pies from a small bakery and then cancelled it. Giving Pies, the bakery in California, has now said that the outstanding bill is paid, said reports in media. The Guardian reported that Voahangy Rasetarinera, the African-American owner of the bakery, told the news outlet that Tesla has paid, "...the $2k that I was out of". The bakery in San Jose, California got a last-minute order of 2000 pies from the company on Valentine's Day. This meant a business of USD 6000 for the small bakery. As per reports, Tesla doubled the initial order to 4000 pies, and later cancelled the whole order. Giving Pies owner Rasetarinera took to social media to say that to cater to Tesla, her bakery had to overlook other Black History Month catering inquiries before getting ready for the mammoth order. The bakery then had to purchase large amount of supplies in advance and the owner had to prepare the workforce “demanding production schedule”. Sudden cancellation of the order made all these efforts, and money, go to waste. Billionaire Elon Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) has claimed that the Indian government issued 'executive orders' to the social media company to act against certain accounts and posts. In a lengthy post by the platform's Global Government Affairs team, X said although it disagreed with the orders, it had complied and taken action against the specified accounts. "The Indian government has issued executive orders requiring X to act on specific accounts and posts, subject to potential penalties including significant fines and imprisonment," the post read. "In compliance with the orders, we will withhold these accounts and posts in India alone; however, we disagree with these actions and maintain that freedom of expression should extend to these posts," it added. The statement said a writ appeal challenging the Indian government's blocking order remained pending. "Due to legal restrictions, we are unable to publish executive orders, but we believe that making them public is essential for transparency. This lack of disclosure can lead to a lack of accountability and arbitrary decision-making," the statement read. Elon Musk's X has allegedly given subscription perks to designated terrorist groups as well as others who have been barred from operating in the United States, according to a report published by&nbsp;Tech Transparency Project (TTP).&nbsp;

In the report, the campaigners claimed that X gave blue check marks to accounts which were related to Hezbollah members, among others.

After the users of X make a payment of $8 (£6.40) per month, they receive a blue tick which allows better promotion and longer posts.

After the report, some of the ticks were removed by X, as the platform claimed that its security was "robust".

The decision taken by Musk to charge for the check marks emerged as one of the most controversial changes after he took over Twitter in 2022 and the critics said that the move will make issues of disinformation worse and the platform will become vulnerable to impersonators.

Earlier, the badge was free on social media platforms and the accounts holding the blue mark indicated that the identity behind the account has been verified. Many of the recipients of the blue badge were journalists, along with world leaders and celebrities.

In a few cases, those who were given the badge were people facing sanctions, which drew criticism against the company and it was reported that the platform is giving space to the wrong people and breaking sanctions law in the United States.

The Tech Transparency Project stated that since the system is paid, "X may be raising new legal issues".&nbsp;It added that X had removed the blue ticks from the accounts which were identified as notorious or problematic after the report was published.

The TTP claimed that an account run by Ansar Allah, who is known as a Houthi, also apparently paid for its blue check mark. The account does not have a blue tick anymore and has more than 23,000 followers.

In both the United States and the United Kingdom, sanctions have been issued against the Houthis. On its website, the United Kingdom government said that it has sanctioned the Houthis "to disrupt their ability to attack international shipping in the Red Sea, and to promote Yemen's peace, stability and security".

"A blue checkmark account that bears the name and profile image of Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary-general of Hezbollah, also indicates it is 'ID verified', a service that X offers to premium subscribers as a way to prevent impersonation. X requires users to submit a government-issued ID and a selfie to get verified in this way, though it is unclear if Nasrallah did so", it stated.

The decision taken by Musk to charge for the check marks emerged as one of the most controversial changes after he took over Twitter in 2022 and the critics said that the move will make issues of disinformation worse and the platform will become vulnerable to impersonators. Many of the recipients of the blue badge were journalists, along with world leaders and celebrities. In a few cases, those who were given the badge were people facing sanctions, which drew criticism against the company and it was reported that the platform is giving space to the wrong people and breaking sanctions law in the United States. X embroiled in legal issues? The Tech Transparency Project stated that since the system is paid, "X may be raising new legal issues". It added that X had removed the blue ticks from the accounts which were identified as notorious or problematic after the report was published. X requires users to submit a government-issued ID and a selfie to get verified in this way, though it is unclear if Nasrallah did so", it stated. (With inputs from agencies)

Russia's Putin will be 'assassinated' if he steps back from Ukraine war, says Elon Musk

A federal judge has ramped up the Securities and exchange commission's scrutiny of Elon Musk's $44 billion takeover of Twitter, now branded as 'x'. The judge's order demands Musk's testimony. Watch to know more!

Elon musk faces court-ordered grilling over $44 bn twitter deal

A federal judge has mandated Elon Musk to testify once again in the US Securities and Exchange Commission's investigation into his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, setting a deadline for both parties to finalise the details of the interview. <o:p></o:p>

This is based on a Reuters report.<o:p></o:p>

US Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler's ruling, issued over the weekend, reinforces her previous stance in December, favouring the regulator's request for Musk's testimony.<o:p></o:p>

In October, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Musk, seeking his testimony as part of its inquiry into his acquisition of Twitter in 2022, which he later rebranded as X. <o:p></o:p>

Musk had declined to attend an interview in September, prompting the SEC to escalate the matter. <o:p></o:p>

The investigation centres on whether Musk adhered to legal requirements regarding disclosures of his Twitter stock purchases and the veracity of his statements related to the deal.<o:p></o:p>

Judge Beeler's order comes after Musk contested the SEC's attempts to interview him, alleging harassment and citing previous interactions with the regulator. <o:p></o:p>

However, Beeler dismissed Musk's argument, asserting the SEC's authority to issue subpoenas for pertinent information. <o:p></o:p>

She emphasised the relevance of the subpoena in the ongoing investigation.<o:p></o:p>

Should Musk and the SEC fail to reach a consensus on the interview logistics, Judge Beeler retains the authority to intervene and make a decision on their behalf. <o:p></o:p>

The conflict between Musk and the SEC traces back to 2018 when the regulator sued him over a tweet suggesting Tesla's privatisation with "funding secured." <o:p></o:p>

Subsequently, Musk agreed to have his Tesla-related tweets scrutinised by company lawyers to settle the matter. <o:p></o:p>

However, the SEC reignited legal proceedings in 2019, alleging Musk's failure to comply with this arrangement.<o:p></o:p>

Musk has sought recourse from the US Supreme Court, challenging the terms of the agreement on grounds of infringement of his constitutional right to free speech. <o:p></o:p>

US judge orders Elon Musk to testify in SEC's Twitter probe, deadline set for agreement

A US judge has ordered Elon Musk to comply with a subpoena to answer questions from regulators about his purchases of Twitter shares last year.

The order comes after Musk, who beefed up his stake in Twitter -- now called X -- before buying the company for $44 billion, did not show up for a scheduled deposition in September with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), according to a legal filing.

"The court grants the SEC's application to enforce the subpoena," the decision by California judge Laurel Beeler, published on Saturday and seen by AFP, stated.&nbsp;

The billionaire boss and the SEC now have a week to agree on a time and place for Musk to give testimony, it added.

The SEC investigation pertains to all of Musk's purchases of Twitter stock in 2022 as well as his statements and filings with market regulators, court documents stated.

Musk took part in two half-day depositions in July with the SEC, which told the court it has since received "thousands of documents" that have raised questions they want him to answer.

Musk's objections to the latest deposition included an accusation that the SEC is using its power to "harass" him, the commission said in the filing.

"The SEC has already taken Mr. Musk's testimony multiple times in this misguided investigation -- enough is enough," Musk attorney Alex Spiro said in reply to an AFP inquiry.

But the SEC had argued that "Musk's ongoing refusal to comply with the SEC's administrative subpoena is hindering and delaying the SEC staff's investigation to determine whether violations of the federal securities laws have occurred," according to court documents.

Musk's role at the social network has been marked by numerous controversies and led to various legal actions on the part of investors, former employees and companies that had contracts with Twitter.&nbsp;

Shareholders, for example, have filed a lawsuit against Musk, accusing him of disclosing his five percent stake in Twitter too late, after the deadline set by the SEC.

Elon Musk reveals 'Game Plan' to relocate millions people on Mars

US billionaire Elon Musk on Sunday (Feb 11) shared plans to relocate one million people to Mars, without providing any timeline for the same. Reacting to a post on his social media platform X, Musk wrote, “We are mapping out a game plan to get a million people to Mars."

He also hinted at creating a local, self-sustained ecological system on Mars that could survive without any support from Earth. "Civilisation only passes the single-planet Great Filter when Mars can survive even if Earth supply ships stop coming," the US billionaire added.

He said this in response to a post which said “Starship is the largest rocket ever built and it’ll take us to Mars”.

Musk also said a day will come when a trip to Mars will be taken as a flight to another country in modern times.

This comes after Musk, who is also the founder of company SpaceX, last week said that Starship should be able to make it to the moon in less than five&nbsp;years. Musk boasted that the SpaceX Dragon spaceship will take humans to the furthest they have been from Earth in over half a century. He said in January that SpaceX will be able to send humans to the Moon within the next eight years.

Elon Musk reveals ‘game plan’ to shift a million people to Mars

Russian forces in occupied Ukraine are using terminals of Elon Musk’s satellite internet service Starlink, said Kyiv’s main military intelligence agency, on Sunday (Feb 11). The allegation by Ukrainian forces also comes amid media reports that Russia has been receiving Starlink internet terminals via an intermediary in the Middle East amid the ongoing war.&nbsp;

<h2>‘Systemic nature’</h2>

“Cases of the Russian occupiers’ use of the given devices have been registered. It is beginning to take on a systemic nature,” the Ukrainian defence ministry’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) quoted spokesman Andriy Yusov as saying.&nbsp;

In its post on Telegram, GUR also posted an audio clip of what it said was an exchange between two Russian soldiers that was intercepted by its forces, claiming it as proof of Starlink’s “systemic” use in the Russian-occupied territory.&nbsp;

The Ukrainian intelligence agency said Starlink terminals are being used by Russia’s 83rd Air Assault Brigade, which is fighting near the embattled towns of Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the partially occupied eastern region of Donetsk.&nbsp;

The Starlink terminals were rushed to help Ukraine during the initial days of the Russian invasion in February 2022 and have played a significant role in Kyiv’s battlefield communications.&nbsp;

Following media reports last week, Musk’s aerospace company, SpaceX, has said that it does not do any business with Russia’s government or military.

<h2>How is Russia accessing Starlink?</h2>

Starlink is the world’s first and largest satellite constellation which involves more than 2,000 satellites orbiting the Earth in communication with thousands of terminals on the ground to deliver broadband internet.&nbsp;

The audio clip which GUR posted on Telegram as evidence is said to be an exchange between two Russian soldiers discussing setting up the Starlink terminals. However, the Ukrainian agency did not say how Moscow’s forces were able to procure the terminals or if they were from another country or taken from Kyiv’s forces.

<h2>SpaceX responds to reports</h2>

In response to the media reports last week, Starlink, in a statement on X said, “Starlink is not active in Russia, meaning service will not work in that country. SpaceX has never sold or marketed Starlink in Russia, nor has it shipped equipment to locations in Russia.”

“If SpaceX obtains knowledge that a Starlink terminal is being used by a sanctioned or unauthorized party, we investigate the claim and take actions to deactivate the terminal if confirmed,” it added.&nbsp;

Recent financial reports indicate that Tesla, the leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, lags behind its automotive counterparts in the amount of revenue generated per employee.<o:p></o:p>

Tesla reported revenue of nearly $97 billion in the last year, translating to just under $690,000 for each of its over 140,000 employees. <o:p></o:p>

This falls significantly behind General Motors (GM) and Ford Motor, which generated over $1 million and $937,000, respectively, for each of their employees in 2023.<o:p></o:p>

Investors are expressing growing concerns about soft demand for EVs and heightened competition, particularly after Tesla's January warning of "notably lower" sales growth for the year. <o:p></o:p>

With a heightened focus on costs, Tesla is evaluating each employee's position, fuelling speculations about potential layoffs. <o:p></o:p>

The company's stock witnessed a modest gain of over 1 per cent on Thursday, but its market capitalisation has plummeted by over $180 billion in 2024, currently standing at $603 billion, just ahead of chipmaker Broadcom at $601 billion.<o:p></o:p>

Tesla's gross margins, once the envy of other automakers, contracted to their lowest since 2019 in the December quarter. <o:p></o:p>

During the same period, its revenue experienced a modest 3 per cent growth, reaching $25.17 billion, marking the slowest pace of growth in more than three years. <o:p></o:p>

Despite trailing behind GM and Ford in revenue per worker, Tesla has shown improvement from the previous year, where it stood at $637,000. <o:p></o:p>

Notably, Tesla expanded its global workforce by about 10 per cent in 2023, according to recent filings.<o:p></o:p>

The broader context reveals a trend among tech-related heavyweights on Wall Street, with many laying off hundreds of thousands of workers over the past two years while continuing to grow their sales. <o:p></o:p>

Meta Platforms, for instance, reported a remarkable 25 per cent surge in December-quarter revenue last week, concurrently reducing costs and expenses by 8 per cent after eliminating over 21,000 jobs since late 2022. <o:p></o:p>

Gina Carano has a lot of dirt on Walt Disney as she filed a lawsuit against the studio citing wrongful termination from the Star Wars series The Mandalorian. A pivotal part of the show, Gina was fired in 2021 for allegedly “voicing conservative opinions” on social media platforms including Twitter (which is now X). The suit is backed by X owner Elon Musk.&nbsp;

<h2>What is The Mandalorian lawsuit about?</h2>

The lawsuit said, "A short time ago in a galaxy not so far away, Defendants made it clear that only one orthodoxy in thought, speech, or action was acceptable in their empire.” The lawsuit was filed in federal court in California.

The actress also claimed discrimination based on gender as none of the male stars faced a similar repercussion, even though she claims they voiced similar opinions.&nbsp;

Gina Carano was popular for playing the role of warrior Cara Dune in The Mandalorian. She was removed over social media posts that the studio called "abhorrent and unacceptable" for "denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities." On Instagram, Gina wrote, "Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors ... even by children.”

<h2>What does Gina Carano want from Disney now?</h2>

Gina is now asking Disney’s Lucasfilm unit to reinstate her in the role and is seeking compensatory damages of up to $75,000 plus emotional distress and punitive damages to be determined at trial.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk has his reasons. Last September, things got ugly between Disney CEO Bob Iger and X owner Elon Musk as the company pulled advertising from the social media platform. At the time, Elon said that he would fund legal action by users who faced retaliation from employers for comments on the platform.

"As a sign of X Corp's commitment to free speech, we're proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano's lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination," said Joe Benarroch, X's head of business operations.

Elon Musk's habit of&nbsp;taking "illegal drugs" has been known to some serving and former directors of Tesla and SpaceX but none took any action as they didn't want to lose the social currency that the billionaire's circle brought, a report in the Wall Street Journal has claimed.&nbsp;

Several directors at Tesla and SpaceX have money ties with Musk which may have bought their silence on his drug issues. The Tesla CEO has reportedly invested in entities linked to venture capitalists Antonio Gracias, Ira Ehrenpreis, tech magnet Larry Ellison and former media executive James Murdoch.

In turn, these people&nbsp;have invested money in at least one of&nbsp;six companies belonging to Musk&nbsp;(Tesla, SpaceX, The Coring Co., X,&nbsp;Neuralink and xAI).&nbsp;Notably, Ellison, while being a director, also owned a significantly sizeable 1.5 per cent stake in Tesla as of 2022.

Apart from investments, the newspaper claimed that Musk&nbsp;also provided career support to the likes of&nbsp;&nbsp;Steve Jurvetson, who stepped down from his firm DFJ Venture Capital in 2017 after being accused of sexual harassment. Despite the allegations, Tesla retained him as an independent director till he resigned in 2020

"Some current and former Tesla and SpaceX directors have knowledge of Musk’s illegal drug use but haven’t taken public action, according to people who have witnessed the drug use or were briefed on it," the newspaper reported.&nbsp;

The relationship between Musk and his directors was disclosed by the publication a month after another report claimed that the billionaire's excessive drug habit had affected his work.&nbsp;

The report added that Musk's conduct had resulted in employees at&nbsp;SpaceX being randomly tested for drugs.&nbsp;

"After that one puff with Rogan, I agreed, at NASA’s request, to do 3 years of random drug testing. Not even trace quantities were found of any drugs or alcohol," said Musk.&nbsp;

"@WSJ is not fit to line a parrot cage for bird sh*t," he added.&nbsp;

Musk's attorney Alex Spiro,&nbsp;confirmed to WSJ that the billionaire had never failed a drug test, adding that the newspaper's report included 'false facts', without disclosing what they were.

Musk’s ‘illegal drug use’, silence of board and money ties with directors: What a new report claims

Tesla CEO Elon Musk faced a significant legal setback this week as he lost his $56 billion pay package in one of the most substantial legal defeats in US history. The case was brought forth by an unexpected adversary, Richard Tornetta, a former heavy metal drummer. <o:p></o:p>

According to Reuters, Tornetta, who held just nine shares of Tesla when he initiated the lawsuit in 2018, emerged victorious on Tuesday when a judge deemed the massive pay deal unfair to him and all fellow Tesla shareholders.<o:p></o:p>

Tornetta's case, which began in 2018 and reached trial in late 2022, represents a noteworthy legal challenge for Musk, who had previously triumphed in various trials related to defamation, breaches of duty to shareholders, and violations of securities laws. <o:p></o:p>

Tornetta's interest in audio gear for car-customising enthusiasts, as showcased on his online presence, contrasts with the typical profile of those pursuing corporate accountability. Notably, he has shared light-hearted videos about his gadget creations and drumming performances with his metal band, "Dawn of Correction."<o:p></o:p>

Delaware, known for corporate case precedents, has seen cases led by investors with minimal shareholdings influencing US corporate law. Eric Talley, a corporate law professor, notes that law firms often collaborate with investors to bring cases on contingency. <o:p></o:p>

Tornetta, benefiting from the case like other Tesla shareholders, saves the company substantial sums that a compliant board might pay to Musk.<o:p></o:p>

Critics argue that cases initiated by individual investors may lead to potentially abusive litigation. A decade ago, Delaware faced challenges from retail investors challenging merger deals, often resulting in settlements that critics deemed meaningless. <o:p></o:p>

However, experts argue that individuals like Tornetta play a vital role in overseeing boardrooms. Large investment firms are considered better equipped for corporate litigation, but they often avoid challenging relationships on Wall Street.<o:p></o:p>
