Eijiro Miyako, associate professor at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Nomi said he had been working on robotic pollinators for years, but was disappointed when the toy drones he used destroyed the flowers.

"It was too sad," Miyako said, reported AFP.&nbsp;

Miyako got this idea of trying bubbles when he was playing with his three-year-old son in a park and got inspired when he noticed that one of the bubbles harmlessly burst on the child's face.

The scientist and co-author Xi Yang first used microscopes to find out whether soap bubbles are capable of carrying pollen grains.

They found a solution called lauramidopropyl betaine, which is used in cosmetic products to boost the formation of foams, resulting in improved growth of the tube that develops from pollen grains after they are deposited on flowers.

Calcium was also added to support the germination process, which also helped in maintaining the optimum pH balance.

The solution was then added into a bubble gun and released it into a pear orchard, at a rate of nearly 2,000 grains per bubble.

The researchers found that 95 per cent of the targetted flowers carried fruits.&nbsp;

"It sounds somewhat like fantasy, but the... soap bubble allows effective pollination and assures that the quality of fruits is the same as with conventional hand pollination," Miyako said.

Finally, the scientists tried the same experiment with the help of a small drone. targetting a group of fake illies.&nbsp;

The drown flown from a height of two meters and at a velocity of two meters per second, hit the plastic plants at a 90 per cent success rate.

"It gives them a second set of eyes over the top of the human element to try and make it safer for crocodiles and the humans," Ben Trollope, the Chief Executive of Westpac Little Ripper drones, said in a telephone interview from Brisbane.

The Ripper Group has partnered with Amazon Web Services in developing the capability of the new drone service, including reducing delays in transmitting footage, Trollope added.

"Amazon have been vital... They've opened up their whole capability, which has allowed us to quickly get to somewhere that could have taken quite a long time", he said.

The drones use an algorithm created with the University of Technology in Sydney. According to developers, it can identify 16 different types of marine species and has an accuracy rate of 93 per cent.

The algorithm is adjusted to separate crocodiles from mangroves in northern Queensland's dense rainforest areas, a factor the ocean drones do not have to contend with.

"Everything is research for us. We're continually collecting data, teaching the algorithm to get smarter," Trollope added.

The drones featured at the World of Drones Congress in Brisbane on Thursday, where images were beamed in from a demonstration at a Queensland crocodile park.

The US Department of Homeland Security has warned US firms of the risks to company data from Chinese-made drones, according to a notice reviewed by Reuters on Monday.

The notice, titled "Chinese Manufactured Unmanned Aircraft Systems," warned that US officials have "strong concerns about any technology product that takes American data into the territory of an authoritarian state that permits its intelligence services to have unfettered access to that data or otherwise abuses that access."

Nine coaches and the engine of the train jumped the tracks 50 metres from Harchandpur railway station at about 6.05 Wednesday morning. Harchandpur is in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli district.&nbsp;

Seven people are dead and 21 injured.&nbsp;

The injured have been taken to hospital. It is feared though that the death toll may rise.&nbsp;

The railways has said all passengers have been evacuated from the train. And the National Disaster Response Force has said there is no "live victim" trapped in the wreckage.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi meanwhile tweeted that he was "anguished by the loss of lives".&nbsp;

A high level US technical team will be in Delhi to discuss the<a href="http://www.wionews.com/south-asia/india-successfully-tests-combat-capable-drone-rustom-ii-8919"> Communications Compatibility and Security Agreement</a>(COMCASA). India has been contemplating signing the agreement for a long time, the COMCASA deal will give India access to secure communications systems which will plug India into the US communications grid.&nbsp;

The COMCASA agreement will ensure net-enabled weapons systems which includes precision weapons and air-to-air missiles, also space and navigation systems.

The Predator-B drone can attack and carry out surveillance. The state of the art drone has infra-red and maritime radar.

The Indian government has however not yet decided on buying the drones. Sources told WION that the discussion on drones could be taken up by India's defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman and external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj who will be travelling to the US this month for talks.

The Predator-B drone is known as the MQ9 Reaper and is a deadly, hunter-killer drone. It is also is a "cheaper option" than a manned aircraft, especially in hostile territory. The drone is handled by a ground crew and its attack is undertaken by a pilot.&nbsp;

The Predator-B can operate from a height of 50,000 feet, it also possesses multi-mode maritime surveillance radars. The electronic support measures include jamming enemy communications and radar. It also has laser designators to guide missiles to targets.

The Preador-B is decked with hellfire missiles including laser-guided missiles. The biggest advantage of the drone is its ability to stay on a target undetected for hours together. It was the same type of drone the US used for surveillance on al Qaida chief Osama Bin Laden.

India has already signed the 22 Sea Guardian unmanned aerial systems(UAS) drones from the US at a reported cost of $2 billion. The move was aimed at protecting India's security, the &nbsp;Sea Guardian also performs maritime surveillance.

Sources said India wasn't interested in buying unarmed drones, telling interlocutors in Washington DC that it added to costs and logistics effort. India preferred both attack and surveillance in one platform.

Hyderabad Police have barred&nbspthe flying of drones and other remote-controlled flying devices in the city, from April 8 to May 7, in view of possible attacks that may be carried out through such devices by terror groups or anti-social elements.

"No flying activities of Remotely Controlled Drones or Para-Gliders or Remotely Controlled Micro-Light Aircraft be allowed in the Jurisdiction of Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate limits without prior Police permission in writing," ANI reported quoting a notification issued by IPS Anjani Kumar, Commissioner of Police and Executive Magistrate of Hyderabad City, read.

"Inputs have been received by intelligence agencies about the possibility of attacks by Terrorist/Antisocial elements by the use of para-gliders, remote-controlled drones, remote-controlled micro-light aircraft, etc., and there is every likelihood of breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquility and also there is grave danger to human life, health, safety and damage to public property on that account," the notification added.

As per the notification, government agencies and organizations will need to obtain appropriate clearance from local Police and aviation authorities before launching any Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Unmanned Aerial Survey (UAS) for any purpose.

"Any person contravening this order shall be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860," the notification further stated.&nbsp

The drone, made by Rajiv Ghosh, the 17-year-old son of a tea seller, has been pressed into action to take pictures of stagnant water on the terraces of the city&#39;s buildings.&nbsp;

&quot;We are conducting a trial run for a month. We will see how fruitful it is. After this many states are asking me about the project over dengue plan,&quot; Ashoke Bhattacharjee, the mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation said,

Rajiv is a class XI Arts student but ironically has an interest in science. He is currently studying at Margaret High School, Pradhan Nagar, Siliguri.

He has been working on the idea since January.

&quot;Last year, there was a major dengue problem in Siliguri. It is very difficult to inspect the presence of stagnant water or dengue larvae in high rise buildings,&quot; he said.

&quot;Drone can help gather aerial footage to keep a check on areas that might be possible breeding spots,&quot; he added.&nbsp;&nbsp;

According to news reports, the drone&nbsp;can fly a thousand metres high but its flight will be restricted to 200 metres due to security reasons.

According to the Health Department report of 2017, some 1,287 were infected with dengue with four losing their lives.
