<p>Ahead of King Charles' coronation&nbsp;on Saturday,&nbsp;the UK police arrested the head of the anti-monarchist campaign group Republic and other members who were leading a protest at Trafalgar Square.</p>

<p>The protestors wore "Not My King" t-shirts and planned a demonstration along the route of a procession for the coronation.</p>

<p>As per reports, six demonstrators were arrested including Republic group's chief executive Graham Smith.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"They've arrested six of our organisers and seized hundreds of placards, they won't tell us why they've arrested them or where they're being held," a Republic activist told AFP.</p>

<p>Some bystanders shouted "free Graham Smith" but others enchanted slogans "God save the king" and waved UK flags.</p>

<p>Taking to its official Twitter account, the group posted some pictures of police officers taking details from them and also confirmed the arrests and seizure of placards saying, "Is this democracy?"</p>

<p>Smith had told reporters last week: "We certainly have no plans to disrupt the actual procession."&nbsp;</p>

<p>London police chief Mark Rowley, on Friday, had warned of a "very low tolerance for disruption" and that police would take action if protesters tried to "obstruct the enjoyment and celebration&nbsp;of people".</p>

<p>Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder has sent a letter to King Charles requesting him to visit the UK prison where he has been imprisoned for more than four years. The letter describes the horrors of his existence there and is the first thing the Australian journalist and creator of WikiLeaks has written and released since his stay in London's Belmarsh jail.</p>

<p>Assange is an Australian computer programmer and founder of the whistleblower website WikiLeaks who gained international attention in 2010 when WikiLeaks published a series of leaked US government documents, including classified diplomatic cables and military documents related to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.</p>

<p>“As a political prisoner, held at your majesty’s pleasure on behalf of an embarrassed foreign sovereign, I am honoured to reside within the walls of this world-class institution,” Assange wrote in the letter.</p>

<p>“On the coronation of my liege, I thought it only fitting to extend a heartfelt invitation to you to commemorate this momentous occasion by visiting your very own kingdom within a kingdom: his majesty’s prison Belmarsh,” he added.</p>

<p>“As you embark upon your reign, may you always remember the words of the King James Bible: ‘Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy’. And may mercy be the guiding light of your kingdom, both within and without the walls of Belmarsh," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Australian PM Albanese, who is attending King Charles’ coronation, said, “There is nothing to be served by his ongoing incarceration,” Albanese said, “And I am concerned about Mr Assange’s mental health. There was a court decision here in the United Kingdom that was overturned on appeal that went to Mr Assange’s health as well and I am concerned for him.”</p>

<p>Talking to Reuters, Philip Nash, a street sweeper in Whitechapel, a more run-down area of east London, said, "They (the royals) just take everything from me. They never do a day's work."</p>

<p>"I'd like to see one of them come out here, come sweep this street. Have you known any of them to do a day's work? They are like vampires, sucking my blood," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>His sentiments are shared by many Britons who believe that a spectacular ceremony for the royals seemed inappropriate when many are dealing with high inflation that has topped 10 per cent and has sent the cost of energy and food soaring.</p>

<p>Yet another poll found that King Charles III's approval ratings have taken a dip. The poll by Ipsos released in April found that the British King's approval rating fell from 61 per cent in September 2022, to 49 per cent in April 2023.&nbsp;</p>

A similar vow, known as the Homage of Royal Blood, was taken by William's late grandfather Prince Philip during Queen Elizabeth's coronation. Phillip pledged to "liege man of life and limb" to the late queen in 1953.<br />

The Prince and Princess of Wales hand-delivered the pizza boxes at the Dowlais Rugby Club, where they mingled with volunteers after spending the morning participating in the team's training exercises.<br />

Usually seen in formal dresses and heels, Kate chose a &nbsp;casual attire by wearing pair of black skinny cargo pants, a forest-green turtleneck sweater, an olive collared zip-up jacket, and dark brown hiking boots. Her husband, William's outfit was similarly pared down; the royal wore a light blue collared button-up, a black puffer jacket, gray trousers, and brown boots.<br />

King Charles 'defender of faith' to include peers from Jew, Hindu, Muslim & Sikh faiths in his coronation

<p>The travel plans for passengers who are planning to visit King Charles III and Queen Consort's coronation in May are likely to face "inevitable disruption and delays" as over 1,400 security personnel at Heathrow Airport will go on eight days strike amid demands for a decent pay raise.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The coronation of the King will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, 6 May 2023. The Archbishop of Canterbury will preside over the Service.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The security personnel will be on strike from May 4 to 6, May 9 to 10, and May 25 to 27, according to the Unite trade Union. Unite is a major trade union in the United Kingdom which has organized strikes in the past as well to push for better working conditions, wages, and benefits for its members.&nbsp;</p>
