India's Congress party has raised concerns about the omission of the words "socialist" and "secular" from the new copies of the Indian Constitution distributed to Members of Parliament in the new Parliament building.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a prominent Congress leader and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, pointed out that the Preamble of the new Constitution copies lacked the two words which were incorporated into the Constitution through the 42nd Amendment in 1976 during the Emergency imposed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

These words were added by the Congress regime at the time apparently to guarantee the protection of minority rights and to prevent economic dominance by the wealthy.

Chowdhury insinuated that the absence of "socialist" and "secular" from the copies may be a deliberate act.

However, he lamented that he had not been given the opportunity to address this issue in Parliament.

To counter this allegation, Arjun Ram Meghwal, the minister of law and justice from the ruling BJP said, "when the Constitution was drafted, it was like this. An amendment was made later."

India: Congress claims 'socialist and secular' missing from new Constitution copies, BJP responds

The Mexico Congress hosted an unusual event that could potentially be described as a watershed moment in the history of human civilisation and further propel interest in aliens and UFOs.

Close on the heels of US Congress holding a public hearing on the possibilities of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), now named Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, the Mexican legislature, too, for the first time held a similar event, a public hearing.

On Tuesday (Sept 13), two corpses believed to be of “non-human” alien species were displayed in the Congress during the public hearing. It was claimed that these corpses are at least 1,000 years old.
Among the attendees was Ryan Graves, a former US Navy pilot and Executive Director of Americans for Safe Aerospace, who claimed to have encountered such sightings during his flights.

Former trade adviser of Donald Trump Peter Navarro was convicted of contempt of Congress after he failed to comply with the House select committee's subpoena, which has been carrying out the investigation into the US Capitol attack that took place on January 6, 2021.
Navarro is former US President Donald Trump's second ex-aide who is facing prosecution for his lack of cooperation with the committee. Last year, Steve Bannon was convicted on two contempt counts. The case of Bannon is currently on appeal.
During the closing arguments on Thursday (September 7), the jury was informed by the prosecutors that Navarro “made a choice” not to comply with a subpoena of February 2022. “Do we know that his failure to comply beyond reasonable doubt wasn’t the result of accident, inadvertence or mistake?” he stated.
“Why didn’t the government present evidence to you about where Dr. Navarro was or what he was doing on the day when the deposition was scheduled deposition,” asked Woodward to the jury. “Something stinks,” he added.

In response, Prosecutor John Crabb said, “Who cares where he was. What matters is where he wasn’t.” Repeatedly, Crabb referred to Navarro as “that man’ while pointing towards him and telling the jury, “that man thinks he is above the law.”

“We've been very clear on that, including, the temporary visa programmes that haven't been updated in more than two decades," it added.

Watch: India opposes controversial US visa policy × Immigration has played a crucial role in bridging this gap recently and is anticipated to further narrow it in the upcoming months. An analysis by Jan Hatzius, the chief economist at Goldman Sachs, forecasts that around 500,000 immigrants will become part of the workforce within the next three quarters, as revealed in a publication on Monday. Labour crisis in US Given that there are 5.8 million unemployed workers in the US, some economists suggest that not all of these positions can be filled solely by individuals currently residing in the country. Although the number of open positions in June exceeded nine million, it is a decrease from the peak of 12 million observed in March 2022. Nevertheless, it remains one of the highest counts of job openings since before 2000. David J. Bier, the associate director of immigration studies at the Cato Institute, pointed out, "By leaving these jobs unfilled, we are essentially forgoing approximately $1 trillion in annual production." This underscores the economic impact of the vacancies. WATCH WION LIVE HERE ×

For the second high-profile Opposition unity meeting, at least 26 'like-minded' political groups are expected to meet on Monday in Bengaluru, Karnataka, to decide how to challenge the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party in the Lok Sabha elections of 2024. Opposition meeting in Bengaluru to be game changer, says Congress party

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Indian opposition is busy mustering a face of unity to counter the BJP juggernaut. On Monday, the alliance of anti-BJP parties converged in the southern city of Bengaluru to brainstorm ideas on how to checkmate the ruling party.

Leaders of at least 26 opposition parties arrived at a five-star hotel in the city after the first meeting took place in the eastern city of Patna last month.

Ahead of the gathering, the opposition party leaders conducted a press conference wherein Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal was quizzed if the opposition camp will no longer be called the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

"We will take all decisions in the meeting. I cannot tell now what issues will be discussed. We are not alone in the meeting, there are other parties. We will discuss in the meeting tomorrow whether UPA will remain the name or something else," said Venugopal.

As for the agenda of the meeting, the opposition said they were here to 'save democracy' in the country.

"We are not here to come to power, we are here to save the world's biggest democracy. We will decide in this meeting what will be the future course of action."

Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said, "This is not the meeting of an individual political party, it is shaping this country for the future of 140 crore people who are suffering on various issues...We feel that with this understanding & unity, we will take it forward and the results will come out - as Karnataka gave us a mandate, the entire country will give us a mandate in 2024. We will take it forward."

This time, the opposition parties are wary that allowing the BJP-led NDA to run free could be fatal to the fortune of several legacy parties, including Congress.

However, the challenge remains bigger than ever. Despite losing the recent Karnataka assembly polls, BJP continues to be a phenomenal vote-puller on the national level, primarily due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal.
