'We have a job to do': Julian Draxler asks PSG to focus on UCL tie rather than missing stars

Edinson Cavani has been ruled out of Paris St Germain's Champions League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday, French sports daily L'Equipe reported on Sunday.

A source inside the club said Cavani's absence had been acknowledged, the report said without elaborating.

Uruguay striker Cavani sustained a thigh injury in Saturday's 1-0 Ligue 1 victory over Girondins de Bordeaux adding to PSG's injury woes ahead of the last-16 first leg against a resurgent United side.

PSG are already without Neymar, who was ruled out with a foot injury, leaving the French side with only Kylian Mbappe as a world class striking option.

"The club will issue a statement later during the day. In my opinion, the news will not be good," PSG coach Thomas Tuchel told French TV channel TF1 earlier on Sunday.

"There is a glimmer of hope. We always hope, but the first exam was not good."

Cavani picked up the injury at the end of the first half and he limped off the pitch holding his right thigh shortly after scoring the only goal with a penalty.

Champions League: PSG's Edinson Cavani doubtful for Manchester United game

French club Paris Saint-Germain had an outstanding first half of the season, but as a key part of the campaign looms, especially the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, the team started to stutter, having conceded its first 2018-2019 Ligue 1 defeat to Olympique Lyonnais.

Although Sunday's 2-1 defeat did not endanger PSG's league lead. It did, however, raise some important questions regarding the team's cool-headedness during this decisive period of the season, especially ahead of the UCL last-16 encounters against England's Manchester United.

The first concern for the Parisian club should be the impact of Brazil superstar Neymar Jr.'s 10-week absence due to his recurring fifth right metatarsal injury, which had also resigned him to the sidelines last year, forcing PSG to confront its main challenge of the season without its star player.

"Last season, he was also injured," PSG's and France's young talent Kylian Mbappe said after the 2-1 defeat to Lyon. "It would be nice not to make the same mistakes, otherwise it would mean that we did not learn anything."

"It feels good to play matches like that," he added. "Facing teams that play (well), is the best way to prepare for the upcoming deadlines. It is up to us to win."

The 26-year-old Brazilian star Neymar became the most expensive player in the world when PSG paid the 222-million-euros buyout clause ($254 million) for the forward in Aug. 2017 in a surprise move which brought Neymar from Barcelona to Paris.

Neymar is expected to miss much of the UEFA Champions League, the most important competition for PSG this season, for which the Qatari-owned club invested roughly 400 million euros over the last two summer transfer windows.

The Ligue 1 defending champion is set to take on Man United at Old Trafford on Feb. 12, then to host the English team at Parc des Princes on Mar. 6. Neymar is also expected to miss both legs of the quarter-finals should PSG make it that far.

When both teams were paired during the UCL draw on Dec. 17, PSG seemed to be the favorite, as Manchester United then was experiencing bad streak under Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, who was sacked the next day.

Then, after appointing the Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker manager until the end of the season, the English team has been on a 10-match unbeaten run in all domestic competitions.

Meanwhile, PSG had put on a strong performance at the beginning of the season, claiming 14 consecutive Ligue 1 victories, and securing a 22-match undefeated run. But, things changed after the winter break.

PSG's first ever defeat of the season was in the Coupe de la Ligue's quarters on Jan. 9, at the hands of the minnow Guingamp, who is last in the French league's table. That shock defeat was followed by PSG's first Ligue 1 loss to Lyon on Sunday.

The timing evoked memories of its wobbles last season against Real Madrid and begs the question as to whether its lack of real national rivals makes it lose context when facing elite teams from across Europe.&nbsp;

In the 2017-2018 CL campaign, PSG was the Group B winner with 15 points, scoring 25 goals, however, the French team was handed two defeats in the round of 16 both legs (3-1 and 1-2), at the hands of Real Madrid, who eventually won the trophy for the third consecutive year.

However, the team's German coach Thomas Tuchel downplayed Sunday's loss.&nbsp;

"This is the level of intensity that we have to show in the Champions League," Tuchel said. "We are capable of fighting at that level."

The 26-year-old left the pitch after twisting his foot and the club said initial examinations revealed a "reactivation of the lesion of the fifth right metatarsal", adding that treatment would depend on how the injury heals in the next few days.&nbsp;

Coach Tite said, "Of course it [injury] worries me because of Neymar's greatness, because of the health of a great athlete, because of the way it happened."

"I have the same information that you do: It will take 3 days to see the real extension of the damage, the recovery process, how he reacts. We hope everything is fine, Tite added."

The Brazilian had fractured the same metatarsal last February and required surgery that effectively ended his club campaign. He returned to action in May, in time for the World Cup in Russia.

Brazil have not won Copa America since 2007 and one they will be under huge pressure to win on home soil.&nbsp;

However, host Brazil was drawn in a relatively easy group for this year's tournament, where it will face Bolivia, Venezuela and Peru.&nbsp;

"Bolivia and Venezuela are not well ranked, they ended in 9th and 10th (at last World Cup Qualifiers). Theoretically, they are not at the same level of Peru. But that doesn't mean that they will make our lives easier on the pitch," said Tite.&nbsp;

Barcelona head coach <a href="http://www.wionews.com/search?q=Ernesto+Valverde">Ernesto Valverde</a> said that his team will need to be well prepared to face a ''very dangerous'' Olympique Lyonnais ahead of their Champions League Round of 16.

Lyon defeated EPL champions 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium and draw their home match in UCL group stage.

Valverde said, "We will have to play against Olympique (Lyon) a team that challenged Manchester City the leadership of their group in the Champions League until the very last game."

"They also beat them in Manchester. We have not seen much of them so far, but I think they are very dangerous on the counter-attack. We will have time to study Olympique Lyon," he added.

The coach warned his players of Lyonnais' counter-attack and the French team's ability to pose danger to the opponent should they be offered the space they thrive in.

"When they play with space in the back they could be a very dangerous team. They are very fast and we have to be very careful."

"We will see what happens but we have to be ready," he concluded.

United lost 2-1 at Valencia on Wednesday, with an embarrassing own-goal by Phil Jones.

Mourinho got a chance to rotate his squad as United went into the final Group H match having already qualified for the last 16 of the competition.

While he found a little comfort in the players' performance that lacked energy and drive.

With first-place Juventus losing 2-1 at Young Boys, United could have jumped above the Italian team in Group H with a win at the Mestalla but Mourinho's decision to play a virtual reserve lineup backfired.

UCL: Jose Mourinho expresses frustration with starting eleven after losing to Valencia

Mohamed Salah's delightful first-half strike gave Liverpool a 1-0 win over Napoli that sent them into the <a href="http://www.wionews.com/search?q=Champions+league+liverpool">Champions League</a>'s last 16 and the Italian side crashing out at a tension-filled Anfield on Tuesday.

Liverpool knew that a 1-0 win, or a victory by two goals or more, would be enough to seal a top-two spot in Group C, and Salah was again the hero for the hosts, scoring what proved to be the winner with a magical individual burst in the 34th minute.

Napoli pressed for a leveller in the second half, with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson denying Arkadiusz Milik in stoppage time with a superb save, but the home side's resolute defence stood firm to the intense relief of the home fans.

Paris St Germain's 4-1 victory at Red Star Belgrade meant they finished top with 11 points while Napoli, who started the day leading the way, exited the competition as Liverpool snatched second spot on goals scored after both teams finished with nine points.

"I’m still full of good feeling," Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp said. "This game was just amazing. Outstanding, unbelievable. The boys played with their whole heart on the pitch."

Klopp stuck with the midfield three that struggled against PSG in their last Champions League match and it was Napoli who found their rhythm first, creating some promising openings early on.

Salah was then presented with a glorious opportunity to break the deadlock, but his touch let him down at the last moment while at the other end, Marek Hamsik could not find the target from a good position.

Kalidou Koulibaly was doing a fine job of marking Salah, until the Egyptian produced a moment of magic to score the only goal of the game, skipping past Koulibaly before slotting in from a tight angle -- his 34th goal for Liverpool in 2018 in all competitions.

Liverpool really should have extended their lead in the second half, with Salah firing wide from a good position, before Sadio Mane was denied by a fine save from David Ospina.

Napoli saved their best attacking play for the latter stages, with Jose Callejon firing over from close range, before Mane somehow shot wide when he should have scored.

Milik almost broke Liverpool hearts right at the death, only to be denied by Alisson, who raced from his line to make a game-saving block.

"Napoli have gone very close but not quite far enough," Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti said.

"We have no regrets really. The players have done well in such a very difficult group. It would have been a wonderful achievement to qualify. Lots of people did not even think we would take it this far."

Champions League: Salah's strike sinks Napoli; Liverpool reach last 16

Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino said his side completed "mission impossible" in the Champions League after they recovered from a nightmare start to qualify for the knockout stages with Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Barcelona.

Spurs were beaten 2-1 by Inter Milan in their first game, lost 4-2 to Barcelona in their second and threw away the lead to draw 2-2 at PSV Eindhoven in their third to leave them with only one point at the halfway stage of the group.

Narrow home wins over the Dutch side and the Italians gave them a chance of going through, but their plight again looked bleak when Ousmane Dembele's sensational individual goal put them on the back foot in the decisive game at the Nou Camp.

Yet Spurs seized their place in the next round thanks to Lucas Moura's late leveller, sneaking above Inter, who could only draw 1-1 at home to PSV, due to a better head-to-head record.

"I'm so happy, so proud, I remember that after PSV no one believed in us, it was mission impossible, but we are here, we're in the next round," Pochettino told reporters.

"It's a massive achievement for the club, we're happy for the fans here and around the world, it's a massive boost for the club and to be able to play in the knockout rounds next year in the new stadium is a massive motivation for us."

Tottenham's hopes of staying in Europe's elite competition looked doomed when news filtered through of Mauro Icardi's leveller for Inter.

Pochettino said he and his players were caught in two minds about whether to try to hold on for the draw or seek a winner in case Inter got another goal in their game.

"It was difficult to manage the last 10 minutes. The players knew the result (score) of Inter but it is difficult to translate what to do to the field," he said.

"You have to score to win but if you concede and lose the game, maybe you talk in a different way afterwards."

The coach also said reaching the last-16 from a group containing two giants of the competition was among his greatest achievements with Spurs since taking over the club in 2014.

"It was so difficult to manage everything inside but we made a fantastic effort. To see and celebrate with everyone after four years and a half was great, it was the first time I felt something really special," he said.

"The connection is amazing but we need to be clever about how we manage that energy tonight."

Pochettino hails Spurs' 'mission impossible' after clinching knockout berth

The bid to reach the knockout stages of the <a href="http://www.wionews.com/search?q=champions+league">Champions League</a> reaches its climax this week with Inter Milan, Paris St Germain and Liverpool among seven clubs sweating on taking the remaining four places for the last 16.

Tuesday includes a number of blockbuster encounters as Liverpool hope for one of those magical European nights at Anfield against Napoli in Group C, while Inter will be relying on Group B winners Barcelona to do them a favour and see off Tottenham Hotspur.

Juergen Klopp's Liverpool, sitting third in the group on six points behind PSG (eight) and leaders Napoli (nine), must win to have any chance of progress while the Serie A side need just a draw at Anfield to guarantee their spot in the next round.

Napoli could even lose and still go through if PSG lose to Red Star Belgrade.

Should Neymar and co prevail in Serbia, Liverpool would need to win 1-0 or by two goals or more due to pip Napoli on their head-to-head record. Liverpool's Egypt striker Mo Salah certainly looks capable having scored a superb hat-trick at Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

If Napoli, PSG and Liverpool all finish on nine points, the Merseyside club would finish top with second place determined by the scoreline at Anfield.

A group stage exit for PSG would be humiliating for new manager Thomas Tuchel given the club's Qatari owners' desperation to see the French champions conquer Europe.

They have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League in every season since 2012-13 but have never gone on to reach the final.

After claiming one point from their first three matches in Group B Tottenham looked out of contention but consective wins against PSV Eindhoven and Inter mean they head to the Nou Camp in second place and knowing a win will guarantee them a place in the last-16 for the third time.

Luciano Spalletti's Inter side, who are level with Tottenham on seven points but below them on head-to-head, lost 1-0 to Serie A leaders Juventus on Friday but will be heavy favourites at home to bottom side PSV who have just one point from seven matches in the Champions League this season.

Tottenham lost 4-2 against Barcelona in the home leg at Wembley, but may have an advantage in the fact that Barca have already qualified as group winners and may take a leisurely approach as they wind down for the mid-season break.

Mauricio Pochettino's team also do not necessarily need a win, as merely matching Inter's result will do.

On Wednesday, Lyon and Shakhtar Donetsk will face each other in the final showdown for a last 16 place in Group F.

The French side sit second on seven points, two ahead of the Ukrainians and so only need a draw to qualify.

Shakhtar must get maximum points to seal their fifth appearance in the competition's round of 16.

The 12 teams who have qualified already for the knockout stages are Ajax, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Manchester City, Manchester United, Porto, Real Madrid, Roma and Schalke 04.

However, only Barca, Porto and Real have clinched top spot in their respective groups.

Champions League: Inter, PSG and Liverpool sweat over last-16 spots

Sadio Mane will be ready to start in Tuesday's must-win Champions League group stage clash with Napoli, according to manager Juergen Klopp who has called on the home supporters to deliver an electric atmosphere.

Senegalese forward Mane, having recovered from a foot injury sustained against Everton, returned as a second-half substitute in Liverpool's 4-0 win over Bournemouth which took them to the top of the Premier League on Saturday.

"Sadio can deal with the pain obviously -- it looked like that in Bournemouth, so that's cool," Klopp told a news conference on Monday.

"It's good enough that we can consider him at least.

"We have two sessions still to come -- we'll train tomorrow morning as well. We have the meeting to do. In the squad there is nothing really serious after the (Bournemouth) game, that's good."

Liverpool are third in Group C with six points, three behind Napoli and two behind Paris St Germain who they lost to a fortnight ago. They need to either win 1-0 or by two goals or more to pip Napoli on head-to-head.

The stage is set for a tense night under the Anfield lights where Liverpool will require the kind of grandstand finish they enjoyed in 2004 when they needed to beat Greek side Olympiakios by two clear goals in their last group game to progress and did so thanks to Steven Gerrard's last-gasp screamer.

"Now we have the chance to go through and that is pretty special after the campaign we played so far," Klopp, whose side lost all three away games, told reporters.

"Now we have to create a special atmosphere with the way we play and we have to use it as well.

"I am really looking forward to it. It is a big opportunity for us and we will try everything to put it right."

Klopp confirmed defender Dejan Lovren, who has missed Liverpool's last three matches, will need a late fitness test before a decision is taken on his involvement.

"Yesterday he was out on the pitch and looked quite well," Klopp added. "Can he be part of training today or not? We will see that."

The manager also expects midfielder Adam Lallana to feature after the player felt no ill-effects from a head injury he sustained against Bournemouth.

Champions League: Liverpool receive Sadio Mane fitness boost ahead of Napoli clash

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he has received assurances from the club's hierarchy that they will not be banned from the Champions League over allegations of a breach of UEFA Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

European football's governing body are investigating allegations made in German publication Der Spiegel last month that City's Abu Dhabi owners inflated sponsorship agreements in order to comply with FFP requirements.

In response, Premier League champions City said information had been "hacked" and that they were victims of an "organised and clear" attempt to damage the club's reputation.

Punishment for clubs found guilty of breaking the rules could extend to being excluded from the Champions League.

Guardiola, appointed with the task of trying to win Europe's biggest club prize, said he was calm about the situation.

"We will not be banned, no. That's what I think because I trust in my chairman (Khaldoon al-Mubarak), with my CEO (Ferran Soriano), what they have explained to me. I trust in them," the Spaniard was quoted as saying by British media.

"If it happens, because UEFA decide that, we will accept it and move forward."

Der Spiegel's report, based on documents received by the whistle blower platform Football Leaks and reviewed by Reuters, in partnership with European Investigative Collaborations, a network of international media, alleged that some of City's Abu Dhabi sponsorships were three times more lucrative than independent experts deemed they were worth.

City said the claims were "erroneous conclusions and assertions."

Pep Guardiola confident Manchester City will not face Champions League ban

Naby Keita has started to show he can add creativity to Liverpool's midfield but Jurgen Klopp may question his squad's strength in depth despite securing two Premier League wins in four days.&nbsp;

Klopp is likely to revert to his tried-and-trusted first choices at Bournemouth on Saturday, having been a little lucky on Wednesday to emerge with a 3-1 win at Burnley after making seven changes to his line-up.

There were good reasons for so many changes - the match came hot on the heels of Sunday's dramatic late derby victory over Everton, at the start of a frantic month that features home games against Napoli, Manchester United and Arsenal.

In addition, full-back Andy Robertson and forward Sadio Mane were injured, and so Klopp would have had to shuffle his players around even if rotation had not been on his mind.

Yet Liverpool were second-best for the opening hour at Turf Moor against opponents without a victory since September 30, and only turned the match around in the final 30 minutes, when Klopp brought on Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

It was evidence of just how important Salah, Firmino and Sane are to the Liverpool cause, even if they have not necessarily been at their best this season.
During Liverpool's struggles on Wednesday, though, the performance of Keita did give Klopp reason to be positive.

The Guinea midfielder's impact has been restricted by injury problems since his arrival from RB Leipzig in July but he is starting to look at home in the English game.

His creativity is likely to be crucial, given that Liverpool have been short of such a player following the departure of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in January and because of the long-term knee injury suffered by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in April.

Keita makes his case

Of the seven players brought into the starting line-up by Klopp at Burnley, Keita made the strongest case to retain his place at Bournemouth, where there will have to be at least one change, with defender Joe Gomez sidelined for up to six weeks after fracturing his leg.

At Turf Moor, Keita showed he was willing to fight for the ball but also provided forward impetus once he got it, almost scoring with a shot that Joe Hart saved brilliantly.

"He started the season brilliantly and obviously then getting an injury set him back a little bit. But you can see how good a player he is," said captain Jordan Henderson.

"That shot with the left foot and the save from Hart was fantastic. In his overall play he is comfortable on the ball and he helps build up play from the back. He drives the ball forward, which is big for us. I thought he was outstanding."

As a whole, though, Liverpool lack the strength in depth of Manchester City, the team they will have to surpass in order to become champions of England for the first time since 1990.&nbsp;

City had a rather more comfortable night at Watford on Tuesday, despite only winning 2-1, as Pep Guardiola rotated his squad.

It raises the question as to whether Liverpool can afford to go full out for both the Champions League and Premier League. Fail to get the right result against Napoli in their final European group-stage game next Tuesday, and the decision will be made for them.

Henderson, though, is remaining positive.

"The games are coming thick and fast, a lot of games in a short space of time but we showed we can use the squad and still perform to the level we know we are capable of and win games - and that's a big plus for us," he said.&nbsp;

European football's governing body had previously stated its intention to introduce VAR only from the start of the 2019-2020 season.&nbsp;

Dutch winger Arjen Robben said on Sunday that he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season after a decade of success at the German champions.

The 34-year-old joined the Bavarians in 2009 and instantly formed a formidable attacking partnership with Frenchman Franck Ribery, who is also likely to leave at the end of the season.

"I can say that this is my last year (at Bayern) and it is good like that," Robben told reporters after a meeting with fan groups. "I have taken the decision, personally, that this will be my last year.

"I think it is the right moment after 10 years. The club moves on and I may move on. It is the end of a very good and long period."

Robben has scored 98 goals in 198 Bundesliga games for Bayern and, since his arrival in 2009, he has played in three Champions League finals -&nbsp;in 2010, 2012 and 2013 - winning the title at the third attempt with Bayern.

He has also won seven German league titles, including the last six in a row, and four German Cups with the Bavarians.

Robben, who has also won league titles with PSV Eindhoven, Chelsea and Real Madrid and featured in the 2010 World Cup final for the Netherlands, added that he had no plans to retire.

"I may move on. I won't stop completely yet," he said.

Paris Saint-Germain took a big step towards qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages on Wednesday after Neymar helped sink Liverpool in a blistering 2-1 win at the Parc des Princes.

The Brazilian struck in the 37th minute after Juan Bernat's early opener to put qualification for the last 16 in the French champions' hands and leave Jurgen Klopp's team needing to beat Napoli 1-0 or by two clear goals in two week's time to guarantee a place in the knockout stage.

Thomas Tuchel's PSG have massive European ambitions but have flattered to deceive on the continent since being taken over by Qatari investors, and after defeats at Anfield and draws with Group C leaders Napoli Wednesday's win gives them a great chance of qualifying from an extremely tight group.

They are in second place but still need a win at Red Star Belgrade -- who they beat 6-1 in Paris in October -- to ensure a knockout berth as they go into the final round of fixtures just two points ahead of Liverpool.

"It was our last chance to show that we are capable of competing with a team like Liverpool, a team with an incredible mentality," said PSG coach Thomas Tuchel.

"Everyone was ready to suffer for each other. That was necessary against Liverpool and it was a big step forward for us."

Defeat left a bad taste in Klopp's mouth, with the German coach frustrated by refereeing that he claimed made his side look like "butchers" while only booking Marco Verratti for a high first-half tackle on Joe Gomez.

"For me it's a red card," he said. "I look like a bad loser, but I don't care. I had a very good view of it and for sure it was not the same colour as the 500 other yellow cards."

Napoli meanwhile are just a point ahead of PSG but three ahead of Liverpool after breezing past Red Star Belgrade 3-1 thanks to Marek Hamsik's first goal of the season and a Dries Mertens double.

Carlo Ancelotti's side know that having beaten the Premier League outfit 1-0 in October a goal at Anfield next month would make their task much easier.

If they score the Reds would need to do so three times without reply to qualify ahead of the Italians with a superior head-to-head record.

A draw would also see them go through.

Spurs back from dead&nbsp;

Harry Kane said Tottenham Hotspur will go "all guns blazing" at Barcelona in two weeks time after Christian Eriksen brought his side back from the dead with the late winner in a pulsating clash with Inter Milan at Wembley.

Mauricio Pocchetino's side go level on seven points with Inter but move above them into second in Group B thanks to their head-to-head away goals and now need to match Inter's result in the final week to qualify.

They will travel to the Camp Nou on December 11 to take on Barcelona, who showed no signs of slowing down in a 2-1 win at PSV Eindhoven which guaranteed top spot.

"We played out from the back, through the lines, and we could have got a couple in the first half. The clean sheet was massive and thankfully we got the goal," said Kane to BT Sport.

"We will go all guns blazing now. It will be tough, but it is all to play for."

Atletico Madrid cruised into the next round with a simple 2-0 win over a Monaco team packed with youngsters and short on experience.&nbsp;

Koke set the ball rolling against Thierry Henry’s rock-bottom Monaco after just 90 seconds, before Antoine Griezmann ended the match as a contest after just 24 minutes.

Porto and Schalke qualified before their Group D match kicked off thanks to Galatasaray falling 2-0 at Lokomotiv Moscow.

Goals from Eder Militao and Jesus Corona put the Portuguese champions two up early in the second half before Nabil Bentaleb's 89th-minute penalty have the German's hope of a late point.

However, Moussa Marega slotted home the third to seal first place for Sergio Conceicao's team.

Borussia Dortmund also qualified following their goalless draw with Club Brugge.

The Parc des Princes contest was marked by a number of interruptions with last season's finalists Liverpool committing 20 fouls.

While addressing the media, Klopp said, "The number of interruptions in the game was just not cool."

"Two times in a row we won the fair play, what is it table, in England. And tonight we like butchers when you at the yellow cards we had," he added.

"So it was clever of PSG, of Neymar, specially him yeah, but a lot of other players went down like it was really something serious."

Juventus clinched a place in the Champions League knockout stages when a brilliant Cristiano Ronaldo assist set up Mario Mandzukic to give them a 1-0 win over Valencia on Tuesday.

The Serie A champions had struggled to break down Valencia's defence until Joao Cancelo slipped the ball to Ronaldo in the Valencia area in the 59th minute of the Group H clash.

Ronaldo wrong-footed Gabriel Paulista with some fancy footwork, giving him space to roll a low cross across the face of goal for Mandzukic to turn in from two metres.

Juventus top the section with 12 points from five games while Valencia, third with five points, were eliminated after second-placed Manchester United beat Young Boys 1-0.

"Valencia have the best defence in La Liga and it's not easy to score against them," said Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri.

"We got caught on the break a couple of times, we need to be more lucid when we go looking for the second goal," he said, repeating a criticism that he routinely levels against his team.

Needing a draw to qualify, Juventus took few risks and the first half produced only one shot on target for each side.

Ronaldo tested Neto with an early shot which the Brazilian dealt with easily while Juve goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny made a brilliant save under the bar to keep out Mouctar Diakhaby's header on the stroke of halftime.

Ronaldo, sent off in the first meeting between the teams in the group, tried again with a low free kick after the break but again Neto dealt with it comfortably.

Diakhaby had the ball in the Juventus net two minutes after Ronaldo's goal but the Frenchman had used his arm to deflect in a free kick and it was chalked off.

Paulo Dybala had a shot turned over by Neto and Mandzukic was close again from another inspired Ronaldo assist, the Portuguese this time controlling the ball on his chest and hooking it back in one move, as Juve cruised home.

"Our team is nine-tenths the same as last season but we have improved the speed of our passing and our execution, and Ronaldo gives us more self-confidence," added Allegri.

Real Madrid secured first place in Champions League Group G and ended AS Roma's eight-match unbeaten home run in Europe with a 2-0 victory at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday although the Italians are also through to the last 16.

Real's win thanks to second-half goals from Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez means the European champions are guaranteed to top the group due to a better head-to-head over the hosts.

Like Real, Roma had already clinched a place in the knockout stages with one game to spare thanks to Viktoria Plzen’s 2-1 win at CSKA Moscow in the early kick-off, which leaves Eusebio di Francesco’s side five points clear of third place.

Real and Roma went into the game locked on nine points but having both suffered shock domestic league defeats at the weekend, the Italians losing 1-0 at lowly Udinese while Madrid suffered a stunning 3-0 reverse away to mid-table Eibar.

Roma were without injured striker Edin Dzeko, the Champions League joint-top scorer this season with five goals, and the Bosnian’s absence was felt during a wasteful first half.

Real keeper Thibaut Courtois blocked Patrik Schick’s effort from point-blank range before an Aleksander Kolarov strike from distance whistled wide, but Cengiz Under spurned the best chance just before the break when he fired over from close range.

The home side were made to pay for their profligacy as Real went in front within two minutes of the restart as Welshman Gareth Bale pounced on a poor header back towards his own goal by Federico Fazio before finishing into the corner.

Santiago Solari’s side doubled the advantage just before the hour. Bale curled a cross to the back post and Karim Benzema’s knock-down put the ball on a plate for Vazquez to tap in.

That knocked the stuffing out of Roma and it was the visitors who threatened to find a third, with Marcelo and Benzema both testing Robin Olsen in the Roma goal.

The result ended a run of eight home Champions League games without defeat for Roma as Real became the first away team to win at the Olimpico in Europe since Porto in August 2016.

Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp has warned his players that they must stop Paris St Germain as the two sides meet on in the French capital on Wednesday.

The 'Reds' head into the game sitting second in their Group C standings, behind leaders Napoli on goal difference, with PSG third on five points and Crvena Zvezda bottom with four - all four teams still have everything to play for.

While addressing the media, Klopp said that his players are "psychologically ready" for a tantalising clash.

"Little mistakes can make the decision, can be decisive," told Klopp.

"I'm not worried, and my team. I'm now together with them for three years and one-and-a-half months, roundabout. And in this time they were always psychologically ready," he added.

Cristiano&nbsp;Ronaldo&nbsp;is in hot form and gunning for revenge going into Tuesday's Champions League clash against Valencia after seeing red against the Spaniards in the away leg, with Juventus needing a draw in Turin to book their ticket to the knockout rounds of the European competition.

"Happy to have helped the team on another important win," the 33-year-old wrote on social media after scoring his tenth goal this season for the Italian giants in Saturday's 2-0 win over SPAL as Juventus opened up a record eight-point lead on the top of Serie A after 13 games.

Ronaldo&nbsp;was purchased by Juventus for €100 million ($113 million) from Real Madrid last summer to help their quest for the elusive Champions League title after finishing runners-up twice in the past four seasons.

But the Portuguese superstar is also proving to be a key element in the team's race towards an eighth straight Serie A title, with nine goals and five assists of their 28 goals this season.

No Italian team have ever achieved 37 points from the first 13 games, with&nbsp;Ronaldo&nbsp;becoming the fastest forward in the club's history to score 10 goals in all competitions.

"I don't not care about the numbers. I don't count anything, the important thing is that we take it home in May," said coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Next up is a Group H return leg clash against Valencia, who beat Rayo Vallecano 3-0 in La Liga at the weekend, but are midtable in Spain.&nbsp;

Juventus are top of the group with nine points after four games, with Manchester United two points behind and the Spaniards on five.

Ronaldo's Champions League debut for Juventus in September was marred when he was controversially sent off in tears after half an hour for a small push on Valencia defender Jeison Murillo in Spain.

The red card was his first in 154 Champions League appearances, but Juventus still went on to beat the Spaniards 2-0.

Ronaldo&nbsp;scored his first Champions League goal for Juventus and the 121st of his career against Manchester United in Turin earlier this month before a stunning comeback gave his former club a 2-1 win to delay the Italians' passage to the last 16.

'Best player in the world'

Despite his success on the pitch - leading the way in Europe with 31 goals this calendar year for both Real Madrid and Juventus -&nbsp;Ronaldo&nbsp;missed out on the world player of the year award to Croatia's Luca Modric.

There are also reports he has been snubbed for the final three in the Ballon d'Or for the first time since 2008, with the winner to be revealed in Paris on December 3.

Ronaldo&nbsp;- a five-time Ballon d'Or winner - spent much of last month vehemently denying allegations by former model Kathryn Mayorga that he raped her in Las Vegas in 2009.

He was dropped by Portugal for the Nations League internationals, with the European champions becoming the first team to book their passage to the semi-finals.

Leaving&nbsp;Ronaldo&nbsp;off the Ballon d'Or podium would be "madness," says Juventus&nbsp;sporting&nbsp;director Fabio Paratici.

"Only a fool can doubt&nbsp;his qualities," said Paratici.

"He is the best player&nbsp;in the world and the most important&nbsp;in the history of football.

"At this moment&nbsp;I see&nbsp;him very&nbsp;serene, as he has always&nbsp;been here&nbsp;at Juve. The fact that he cannot win the Ballon d'Or seems very strange, since he scored&nbsp;15 goals&nbsp;in one&nbsp;Champions League campaign (last season)," he said.

Colombian teammate Juan Cuadrado warned that&nbsp;Ronaldo's focus remains on the pitch, as he bids to add to his five Champions League titles between Manchester United and Real Madrid.

"Cristiano&nbsp;Ronaldo's main quality is his professionalism," said Cuadrado. "He's hungry for victory and he's come to the right place. We all think the same way he does."

Cristiano Ronaldo is in hot form and gunning for revenge going into Tuesday's Champions League clash against Valencia after seeing red against the Spaniards in the away leg, with Juventus needing a draw in Turin to book their ticket to the knockout rounds of the European competition. "Happy to have helped the team on another important win," the 33-year-old wrote on social media after scoring his tenth goal this season for the Italian giants in Saturday's 2-0 win over SPAL as Juventus opened up a record eight-point lead on the top of Serie A after 13 games. Ronaldo was purchased by Juventus for €100 million ($113 million) from Real Madrid last summer to help their quest for the elusive Champions League title after finishing runners-up twice in the past four seasons. But the Portuguese superstar is also proving to be a key element in the team's race towards an eighth straight Serie A title, with nine goals and five assists of their 28 goals this season. No Italian team have ever achieved 37 points from the first 13 games, with Ronaldo becoming the fastest forward in the club's history to score 10 goals in all competitions. "I don't not care about the numbers. I don't count anything, the important thing is that we take it home in May," said coach Massimiliano Allegri. Next up is a Group H return leg clash against Valencia, who beat Rayo Vallecano 3-0 in La Liga at the weekend, but are midtable in Spain. Ronaldo scored his first Champions League goal for Juventus and the 121st of his career against Manchester United in Turin earlier this month before a stunning comeback gave his former club a 2-1 win to delay the Italians' passage to the last 16. 'Best player in the world' Despite his success on the pitch - leading the way in Europe with 31 goals this calendar year for both Real Madrid and Juventus - Ronaldo missed out on the world player of the year award to Croatia's Luca Modric. There are also reports he has been snubbed for the final three in the Ballon d'Or for the first time since 2008, with the winner to be revealed in Paris on December 3. Ronaldo - a five-time Ballon d'Or winner - spent much of last month vehemently denying allegations by former model Kathryn Mayorga that he raped her in Las Vegas in 2009. He was dropped by Portugal for the Nations League internationals, with the European champions becoming the first team to book their passage to the semi-finals. Leaving Ronaldo off the Ballon d'Or podium would be "madness," says Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici. "Only a fool can doubt his qualities," said Paratici. "He is the best player in the world and the most important in the history of football. "At this moment I see him very serene, as he has always been here at Juve. The fact that he cannot win the Ballon d'Or seems very strange, since he scored 15 goals in one Champions League campaign (last season)," he said. Colombian teammate Juan Cuadrado warned that Ronaldo's focus remains on the pitch, as he bids to add to his five Champions League titles between Manchester United and Real Madrid. "Cristiano Ronaldo's main quality is his professionalism," said Cuadrado. "He's hungry for victory and he's come to the right place. We all think the same way he does." Real Madrid took a huge step towards clinching a spot in the Champions League knockout stage on Wednesday with a 5-0 rout of Viktoria Plzen as Karim Benzema scored two of four first-half goals for the Spanish giants.

In temporary coach Santiago Solari's first Champions League game in charge Real began slowly but were out of sight before halftime after a masterclass of finishing.

Benzema opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he beat two defenders before slipping a shot through the legs of Plzen goalkeeper Ales Hruska.

Casemiro doubled the lead three minutes later when the Brazilian outjumped his marker and headed home from a corner.

An unmarked Benzema notched his second goal in the 37th minute with a redirected header assisted by Gareth Bale to give Real a 3-0 lead and Benzema returned the favour minutes later when he flicked on a cross for Bale to sweep home a volley.

Toni Kroos completed the scoring in the 67th minute when he cooly chipped over the keeper after a counter-attack involving Brazilian substitute Vinicius.

With two games remaining in Group G Real Madrid are in second spot, level on nine points with AS Roma who beat CSKA Moscow 2-1. CSKA have four points with Plzen on one.

Real had an early scare in the 10th minute when Patrik Hrosovsky's cross cannoned off Nacho and hit the woodwork.

But any hopes Plzen harboured of a shock win were wiped out with two quickfire goals in the 21st and 23rd minutes.

The hosts were more lively after the break and managed a few shots on goal but could not find the quality they needed in the final third to chip away at Real's lead.

Madrid beat Plzen 2-1 at home last month 2-1 with Julen Lopetegui at the helm before the former coach was sacked three months into his first season in charge after Real were thrashed by arch-rivals Barcelona.

Manchester City needed no help to swat aside Shakhtar Donetsk 6-0 to move to the brink of the Champions League last 16, but got a boost with a farcical penalty award that led to even manager&nbsp;Pep&nbsp;Guardiola&nbsp;to call for the introduction of VAR.

Hungarian referee Viktor Kassai remarkably pointed to the spot when Raheem Sterling tripped himself up as he bore down on goal midway through the first half with City already leading 1-0 through David Silva's opener.

"It's not (a penalty)," said&nbsp;Guardiola. "VAR doesn't exist in UEFA so that is the problem."

Despite some controversial calls, the use of video referees was largely deemed successful at the World Cup and will be introduced in the Champions League next season.

However,&nbsp;Guardiola, who was sent to the stands for protesting a goal City had wrongly ruled out in a quarter-final elimination to Liverpool last season, called for it to be used in the competition this term.

"The referee must be helped by the technology. It's not nice to score a goal in that (way) but it happened to us last season against Liverpool so the referee must be helped."

Sterling also apologised to Kassai after kicking the ground as he attempted to chip the ball goalwards.

"I went to chip the ball and don't know what happened," said the England international. "I didn't feel contact. I scuffed the ball, apologies to the ref."

Ahead of the game City had been in the news for the wrong reasons in recent days with a series of allegations published by German magazine Der Spiegel claiming the English champions attempted to bypass UEFA's Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

Whatever storm clouds may be brewing in City's boardroom, it appears they can do no wrong on the field as they warmed up for the Manchester derby on Sunday by smashing six goals for the second time in four days.

Jesus punishes Shakhtar

A lack of atmosphere had been blamed for City's surprising record of three defeats in their previous three Champions League games at home.

The latest of those to Lyon in front of plenty of empty seats at the Etihad in September has now been long forgotten as back-to-back victories over Shakhtar and Hoffenheim have put City in a commanding position at the top of the group.

The fans were in better voice with fewer jeers than usual for the Champions League anthem and they soon had something to cheer when Silva tapped home Mahrez's cross.

Guardiola&nbsp;apologised to Gabriel Jesus for nominating Mahrez as the penalty taker when the Algerian missed from the spot late on in a 0-0 draw at Liverpool last month.

The Brazilian started up front ahead of Sergio Aguero with one eye on keeping the Argentine fresh for Sunday, but Jesus may now have played himself into contention by more than doubling his tally for the season.

Jesus calmly slotted home the hotly contested spot-kick before Sterling curled in his seventh of the season from the edge of the area three minutes into the second half.

Possibly embarrassed by his earlier award, Kassai resisted a few more claims for a City penalty, but did eventually point to the spot once more when Silva was tripped 18 minutes from time and Jesus fired into the roof of the net.

Mahrez made it five by sneaking a shot in at the near post on his weaker right foot before Jesus' chip rounded off the scoring in stoppage time.

Guardiola&nbsp;also had the luxury of being able to take off Kyle Walker, Fernandinho and Silva early ahead of United's visit as City look to go 12 points ahead of their local rivals after just 12 games of the Premier League season.

Champions League needs VAR, says Guardiola as City gain from comical penalty

Barcelona qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League despite Mauro Icardi snatching a late 1-1 draw for Inter Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday.

Ice cold Icardi struck with his first shot of the match in the 87th minute to grab a draw from a match Barcelona dominated from the start, just four minutes after a neat curling strike from substitute Malcom gave the away side a fully deserved lead.

"We played the best team in the world and they scored a typical Barcelona goal, but we never gave up, we kept fighting," Icardi told Sky Sport Italia.

"We didn't give up after they scored and fortunately the ball bounced to me... There was a bit of luck that the ball arrived there."

The Argentine pounced in a goalmouth scramble, spinning and firing home from close range, and rewarding a brilliant performance from keeper Samir Handanovic that kept Inter in a game they in which they struggled to get a foothold.

"We could not clear a silly ball inside the area and we paid for it," said Barca midfielder Sergio Busquets.

"I think we have deserved more. We were more ambitious and we dominated the whole game."&nbsp;

- Dominance -

Barca, without injured Lionel Messi, were left to lament throwing away three points from a game in which they created more than enough chances to win but couldn't get past the superb Slovenia international in the Inter goal.

"I think Barcelona played far better than us and we could've done more. They came forward too easily in the first half and when you leave them possession constantly, you are going to be pinned back," said Handanovic.

Barca were on the front foot from kick-off and Ousmane Dembele forced Handanovic into the first of a series of fine saves with a sharp curling strike just a minute into the game.

That dominance continued throughout the almost the entire match as Barca had almost complete command of the ball and goalscoring chances, Inter's best opportunity before Icardi's leveller coming in the 19th minute when Kwadwo Asamoah flashed over Ivan Perisic's low cross.

Inter struggled to string passes together under the weight of Barca's pressing, and Handanovic had to be at his best to stop fine efforts from Luis Suarez and former Inter player Philippe Coutinho putting the away side ahead before the break.

The Slovenia international made his best save just before the hour mark when he charged out to block Ivan Rakitic's shot as the Croatian bore down on goal.

He was eventually beaten just as it looked like he was going to save Inter from conceding so many chances, Malcom scampering down the right in the 83rd minute before ripping home a shot between two Inter players.

But his saves kept the hosts in the game right until the end, and Icardi took the one chance he had to save a point.

"We just switched off a bit in the final moments," said Barca coach Ernesto Valverde. "We know that Inter have picked up a lot of points in the last minutes.
"But we're happy because our main goal of qualifying is achieved. The one that's left is for us to get first place."

Barcelona through to last 16 of Champions League despite Icardi equaliser

Manchester United have been plagued by inconsistency this season and must put together a complete 90-minute performance to get anything from their Champions League game at Juventus later on Wednesday, Ryan Giggs has said.

United were comprehensively outplayed in a 1-0 defeat to the Italian champions at Old Trafford last month and while they have beaten Everton and Bournemouth in their two matches since, Giggs said they are still blowing hot and cold.&nbsp;

"I've been really impressed with United in the last four or five games, especially second half," Giggs, who won two Champions League titles at United, told British media.

"But I don`t know what it is. As a United fan you are scratching your head. They have proven they can give anyone a game, but if you don`t turn up for 45 minutes you will not win.

"You have to turn up for 90 minutes and United have the players," added Wales coach Giggs. "They were second best the other week, but I think it will be closer on Wednesday."&nbsp;

Man United must deliver complete performance at Juventus: Ryan Giggs

Jose Mourinho believes Manchester United can still secure a top-four finish in the Premier League, saying an unkind fixture list is partly to blame for their early season struggles.

United are languishing in eighth place in the table, five points from a Champions League qualification position, as they prepare to visit Bournemouth on Saturday.

But the manager believes his team have been hindered by a series of difficult back-to-back away fixtures, citing the fact they must travel to Manchester City in the Premier League on November 11, four days after a Champions League trip to Juventus, and that they visit Liverpool in December after a European away game against Valencia.

He did not mention that United have also had back-to-back home games three times across all competitions already this season and have only played two of the current top six in their opening 10 league games.

Mourinho, in his pre-match press conference, said he believed the picture at Old Trafford would be rosier at the beginning of the New Year.

"I always say that in the end of the season you play 19 matches at home and away and it doesn't matter when but the reality is that the way the fixtures are coming, sometimes they have an influence in the moment.

"We had a double fixture away in September (at Burnley and Watford). Now we have a double away league fixture at Bournemouth and Manchester City.

"We will have Juventus away before we go to Manchester City, and we will have Valencia away before Liverpool.

"In this part of the season, we play away against possibly the three biggest candidates for the title, in Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City, so the calendar was not nice to us.

"But I think by the end of December, which is the end of the first half of the Premier League season, we are not going to be in the position we are now. We will be in a better position."

Title challenge?

Mourinho has refused to rule out a challenge for the title but says the first priority must be to climb into the top four.

"When you are outside the top four I don't think you should speak about the title," he said. "When you are in the top four, which I believe we are going to be, you can look up, see the distance, look to the fixtures, to the calendar."

He declined to reveal whether striker Romelu Lukaku would be recalled at Bournemouth, having been dropped after going eight games without scoring.

The manager also said he was "100 percent not guilty" of using foul language after being cleared by an independent panel of a Football Association charge.

Mourinho was accused of improper conduct for remarks he allegedly made in Portuguese after their 3-2 Premier League win over Newcastle on October 6.

He has avoided a touchline ban after the charge was found "not proven", although it is understood that the FA is considering an appeal.

However, Mourinho said that the reason United went to such lengths to contest the charge, putting forward detailed linguistic analysis and citing precedents of other football figures swearing during matches, was because he was convinced of his innocence.

"You know the reason why I ask the club and lawyers to appeal was because I was 100 percent sure that I was not guilty of these charges but you never know how it ends," he said.

Jose Mourinho believes Manchester United can reach Premier League top four

Barcelona defeated in-form Sevilla 4-2 on Saturday but the victory became insignificant as their star player Lionel Messi suffered an injury that will keep him out of the team for at least next three weeks.

A Barcelona club statement read: "Tests carried out on Leo Messi have confirmed that he has a fracture of the radial bone in his right arm. He will be out for approximately three weeks."

The incident happened a few minutes after Messi scored the second goal for his side in the 12th minute.

After a tussle with Sevilla's Franco Vazquez, Messi fell to the ground and tried to cushion the landing with his right hand but his elbow appeared to buckle.

Three-week ouster means that he will miss season's first Clasico against Real Madrid which is scheduled on October 28.

He will also miss Barca's Champions League game at home to Inter Milan on Wednesday and will sit out for a La Liga trip to Rayo Vallecano on November 3 and the Champions League return match against Inter Milan in Italy on November 6.

It is expected that he will return for the league game at home to Real Betis on November 11.

He will be out for approximately three weeks." The incident happened a few minutes after Messi scored the second goal for his side in the 12th minute. After a tussle with Sevilla's Franco Vazquez, Messi fell to the ground and tried to cushion the landing with his right hand but his elbow appeared to buckle. Messi suffers fractured arm that rules him out of El Clasico

Unstoppable Juventus maintained their perfect start to the season after 10 matches when first-half goals from Rodrigo Bentancur and Cristiano Ronaldo gave them a 2-0 win at Udinese in Serie A on Saturday.

Juventus, chasing an eighth successive league title, have 24 points from their eight matches in Serie A and have won their first two games in the Champions League. They are nine points ahead of second-placed Napoli who host Sassuolo on Sunday.

Uruguay midfielder Bentancur's goal was his first since joining Juventus at the start of last season while Ronaldo took his tally to four since his move from Real Madrid.

"From a technical point of view, this was one of our best matches, creating a lot and giving away very little," Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri said.

"It's the first time this season we have gone two matches without conceding a goal and that's positive. Today, we passed the ball around very well (and) faster."

Juve dominated the opening half hour and broke through in the 33rd minute with a counter-attack as Bentancur set Joao Cancelo away on the right and headed in the Portugal full back's pinpoint cross.

Four minutes later, Mario Mandzukic won a loose ball in the penalty area and teed the ball up for Ronaldo to fire a venomous drive past Simone Scuffet.

Antonin Barak hit the post for Udinese and Kevin Lasagna had a shot cleared off the line either side of halftime but, otherwise, Juventus continued to dominate.

Federico Bernardeschi and Ronaldo were denied further goals by Scuffet who also tipped a Cancelo shot on to the crossbar.

World Cup winner Steven Nzonzi set AS Roma on their way to a 2-0 win at Empoli (five points) which lifted them to third (14) ahead of Sunday's games.

The French midfielder met a Lorenzo Pellegrini free kick with a glancing header to open the scoring nine minutes before halftime.

Ismael Bennacer struck a free kick against the crossbar for promoted Empoli who then missed a series of chances including a penalty which Francesco Caputo fired over the crossbar.

Empoli paid the price when Edin Dzeko followed up his hat-trick against Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League on Tuesday by latching on to Stephan El Shaarawy's through ball to score the second with five minutes left.

Cagliari (nine points) picked up their first home win of the season when headed goals from Joao Pedro and Leonardo Pavoletti, both from Lucas Castro crosses, gave them a 2-0 win over Bologna (7) in the afternoon match.

Cristiano Ronaldo on target again as Juve maintain perfect start

Lorenzo Insigne’s 90th-minute winner gave Napoli a deserved 1-0 Champions League victory over Liverpool on Wednesday that saw the Italians move to the top of Group C.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side produced a dominant performance against a muted Liverpool team that failed to muster a single shot on target in a Champions League game for the first time since a 1-0 defeat to Benfica in February 2006.

Napoli top the group with four points, while Liverpool are level on three with Paris St Germain, who they beat 3-2 at Anfield in their opening game. Red Star Belgrade are bottom with one point.

The visitors were dealt a blow inside the opening 20 minutes when midfielder Naby Keita was taken off on a stretcher on his Champions League debut for Liverpool, and Napoli had the better of the first half with Insigne shooting wide and Arkadiusz Milik forcing a save from Alisson Becker.

Poland striker Milik again stung the palms of Alisson early in the second half as Napoli grew in confidence.

They went close to taking the lead with 10 minutes remaining when substitute Dries Mertens met a cross from Mario Rui and volleyed off the crossbar from six metres.

The pressure paid off in the 90th minute as Insigne scored a deserved winning goal, stretching to tap in a low cross from Jose Callejon.

“It’s wonderful to win like this, but we had a great performance as a team and wanted the result at all costs,” Insigne told Sky Italia.

"Now we’ll enjoy this victory for a little bit...

"We know it’s a difficult group, we always did, but we want to make our mark in every game and put any opponent under pressure."

Liverpool face Red Star at Anfield next and Napoli travel to Paris to play PSG on Oct. 24.
