Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen said that his team has learnt from the mistakes his team did in the previous season of Champions League.&nbsp;

In the previous edition of UEFA Champions League, Barcelona were ousted from the league in the quarter-final when they lost to Roma from a winning position.&nbsp;

Barcelona had beaten Roma 4-1 at the Camp Nou ahead of their trip to Italy for the second leg, however, a 3-0 loss at the Stadio Olimpico saw Roma advance to the semi-finals.&nbsp;

On being asked about it, Stegen said, "There are not many words to say about what happened in the past but we won't repeat what was hard to take."

Ter Stegen is confident his side will not repeat the same mistakes against Manchester United having <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/champions-league-luke-shaws-own-goal-gives-barcelona-advantage-over-tame-united-209409">claimed a 1-0 win at Old Trafford</a> in the first leg courtesy of a Luke Shaw own goal.

He added, "We are here again a year later and we are in the place that we are in (following the first leg against Man United) we would like to avoid what happened in the past and for this it is necessary to have a new story and think ahead and I think tomorrow is a good day to achieve a great win."&nbsp;

Cristiano Ronaldo has been passed fit to play for Juventus in their Champions League quarter-final first leg at Ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday, coach Massimiliano Allegri has told Sky Italia.&nbsp;

Ronaldo was rested by the Turin club after his sensational hat-trick against Atletico Madrid in the last round of the Champions League on March 12, but picked up a thigh strain while on international duty with Portugal last month.&nbsp;

Although Juve will be without defender Giorgio Chiellini and midfielder Emre Can, the return of Ronaldo will be a massive boost as they seek to end their 23-year wait to lift the Champions League trophy.

The 34-year-old is the all-time top scorer in Europe’s elite club competition and almost single-handedly dragged Juve into the last eight with his treble against Atletico in the last 16 after the Italians trailed 2-0 from the first leg.

"Unless something happens, Ronaldo will play," Allegri said. "It’s a pity not to have Chiellini and Emre Can, but the others are fine.

"Having Douglas Costa back is important, (Paulo) Dybala had a good training session this morning. (Daniele) Rugani will play at centre-back, it’s an important opportunity for him and we’re happy.

"The team is in good shape, we had some important days in training, as we can lay the foundations of qualification for the next round and then this weekend the opportunity to win the Scudetto (Serie A title) in Ferrara against SPAL."

After having been given a scare by Atletico in the last round, Allegri said his side will be more offensive in Amsterdam to ensure they get an away goal.

"Tomorrow we must play a more attacking and courageous game than with Atletico Madrid, because we cannot think of leaving here without a goal," he said.

"It’s not often that we see a turnaround of the likes we had against Atleti.

"Ajax knocked Real Madrid out, but also gave Bayern Munich problems in the group stage. It’s the first game of two and we’ll see what happens."

Ajax thrashed Real 4-1 away to reach the quaerter-finals 5-3 on aggregate having finished second in Group E behind Bayern who they held 1-1 in Munich before a 3-3 draw in Amsterdam.

Cristiano Ronaldo fit for Juventus clash with Ajax: Massimiliano Allegri

Son Heung-min once again proved there is more to Tottenham Hotspur than Harry Kane as the South Korean's late goal secured a 1-0 home win over Manchester City in an absorbing Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday.

With Spurs talisman Kane having hobbled off injured and favourites City beginning to turn the screw, Son sent the home fans inside the London club's majestic new stadium into delirium as he fired past Ederson in the 78th minute.

It gave Tottenham a slender but precious advantage to take to City's Etihad Stadium next week when they will attempt to reach the Champions League semi-finals for the first time.

Quadruple-chasing City were not at their best as Spurs chased and harried Pep Guardiola's side for 90 minutes and they will rue Sergio Aguero's first-half penalty miss.

The Argentine was handed the chance to put City ahead when full-back Danny Rose was controversially adjudged by VAR to have used his arm to block a shot, but his 13th-minute spot kick was brilliantly saved by Hugo Lloris.

The French keeper's heroics produced a deafening roar not heard along the Tottenham High Road since Spurs moved out of their old stadium two years ago, but it was nothing compared to the sound that greeted Son's 78th-minute winner.

"As a team we never give up, we fight until 90 minutes. I think we deserved to win, we were more clinical than them," said Son, who last week scored the first Premier League goal in the 62,000-seat arena, and now owns the first European strike there.

"I like this stadium, it is amazing to play here, I am grateful for the opportunity to play at this stadium," he added.

Superb Stop

Tottenham fans in the 17,500 capacity South Stand displayed placards before kickoff spelling out the club's motto 'To Dare is To Do' -- and their team obliged, going toe-to-toe with a side who had won 21 of their last 23 games in all competitions.

Dele Alli volleyed Moussa Sissoko's cross over early on but Tottenham were then stopped in their tracks.

Raheem Sterling cut in and fired goalwards and Rose, diving to block, was harshly penalised for handball, courtesy of VAR, despite no City players even appealing for a penalty.

France international Lloris, who has come in for criticism this season, guessed right and made a superb stop.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said on the eve of the game that his side would need to match the intensity of a City outfit oozing quality, both on the pitch and on a bench containing Kevin de Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane.

Tottenham worked hard to deny City time, with the once maligned Sissoko immense, but after England forward Kane hobbled off just before the hour mark with a worrying-looking ankle injury after a clash with City's surprise inclusion at left back Fabian Delph, the hosts appeared to be flagging.

City, for whom Sterling was a constant menace, were hunting an away goal but then Son, who has a knack of scoring for the side Guardiola once described as the "Harry Kane team" when their talisman has been sidelined, struck the decisive blow.

At first the Korean's control from Christian Eriksen's measured pass was sloppy, but Son retrieved the ball, then cut in from the byline and lashed a shot past Ederson.

Guardiola sent on De Bruyne and Sane in the 89th minute, but Tottenham survived six minutes of stoppage time to leave City with a stiff task next week.

"Sometimes 1-0 is better than 0-0, as you know exactly what you have to do," Guardiola, whose side lost to Liverpool in last season's quarter-finals after a 3-0 first-leg defeat, said.

"We have to go out to score goals."

Champions League: Son Heung-min's late winner gives Tottenham edge over Manchester City

Goals from Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino earned Liverpool a 2-0 win over Porto on Tuesday as Juergen Klopp's side took the upper hand in their Champions League quarter-final tie without killing off their Portuguese opponents.

There remains plenty of work to do for the Premier League leaders, who will be disappointed they were unable to gain a bigger advantage for next week's second leg.

On a bitterly cold night at Anfield, Liverpool were well below their best and Porto deserve credit for a determined performance after going two goals down in 26 minutes.

"We lost a little bit of direction in the second half, but there's nothing to criticise, 2-0 is a very, very good result," said Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp.

"We knew we had to play the second game and we cannot decide the tie tonight, so now we have to go there and fight again," he added.

The visitors fired an early warning shot with Moussa Marega blasting narrowly wide in the second minute but the home side took the lead three minutes later through a Keita shot which deflected off Porto midfielder Oliver Torres and beat the helpless Iker Casillas.

Mohamed Salah then forced Casillas into a low save with a sharp shot on the turn, but the Egyptian should have done better in the 22nd minute when he placed the ball wide when through on goal, after being played in by a sloppy Porto pass.

Liverpool had their second four minutes later -- Jordan Henderson split the Porto defence with a superb pass to Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose low cross was tapped in from close range by Firmino

The Brazilian should have added to his tally, but blasted over after a good cross from Henderson, who was again enjoying a more advanced midfield role.

Porto though showed they were not about to roll over -- the dangerous Marega had a low drive well saved by the legs of Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker.

The visitors also felt they should have had a penalty when the ball struck Alexander-Arnold's arm as he shepherded it out but after a VAR review the appeal was rejected.

Sadio Mane had an effort ruled out for offside three minutes after the interval, but apart from another Marega chance in the 69th minute there were few clear-cut opportunities in the second half.

The Portuguese side fought well to stay in the game in a scrappy second half to give themselves a chance of a comeback at home in next week's second leg.

They will, however, be angered when they see television replays of Salah's over the top, raised studs challenge on Porto's Danilo Pereira five minutes from the end for which he could easily have been dismissed.

Although Spanish referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz gave a foul Salah did not even receive a yellow card.

Champions League: Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino give Liverpool 2-0 win over Porto

Manchester City's London-born forward Raheem Sterling has said more players need to speak out when they suffer racism if the problem is to be eradicated from the game, but disagreed with the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/premier-league-managers-stand-togerther-to-fight-against-racist-abuse-206678">proposal of walking off the pitch</a> in response.

Sterling has earned widespread support for his stand on the subject in the wake of racist abuse he encountered during England's Euro 2020 qualifier in Montenegro.

Earlier this season, he also accused sections of the British media of fuelling the problem with a negative portrayal of young black players.

"I don't think I'm trying to make a difference, or making a difference," Sterling told reporters ahead of Manchester City's Champions League quarter-final first leg at Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

"It's about speaking about what you have experienced and some people have probably shied away from that.

"If more players speak up then the better it will be."

However, when asked if he would support walking off the pitch in response to any abuse, as several Premier League managers have recently backed, Sterling said it would be better to stay on and let football provide the adequate riposte.

"I wouldn't personally agree with it (walking off), because I think to go out and win the game would hurt them even more. Score a goal or win the match, that's a better feeling, that beats them," he added.

Tottenham defender Danny Rose, who was also subjected to racial abuse in Montenegro, said last week he "could not wait to leave football" after becoming frustrated with the way the authorities are dealing with the problem.

"I respect his comments and it's a shame to hear that," Sterling said. "It's a shame to hear that really.

"For someone like him -- and not everyone can take it the same way -- it's not a nice thing to hear."

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was asked whether he had spoken to Rose about his comments.

"It's a very delicate situation, it's not easy, it's very personal how you manage your emotion," Pochettino said.

"We're here trying to help him and everyone that can feel that emotion of being abused. It's a thing that we are of course fighting all together to try to stop."

Beyond Football

Pochettino said the issue was nothing new and that it was a problem that reached beyond football, even if the likes of Rose and Sterling had brought it into the spotlight.

"It's a thing in our society that we need to fight and be against all together to stop that happening again," he said.

"It's not only that Danny suffered the other day with Sterling and different people. It happens with people in the street and you and me, we don't know about it and maybe they suffer more than the people we know.

"With Danny and Sterling of course we're very sorry for them but they have the capacity and the power because they're famous people who can denounce it. How many people on the outside cannot say anything, only can go home and cry?"

Tottenham's South Korean forward Son Heung-min has also been a target for abuse and said players must fight together.

"We should just protect the player who gets racism and fight all together," Son said.

"For someone like him -- and not everyone can take it the same way -- it's not a nice thing to hear." Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was asked whether he had spoken to Rose about his comments. "It's a very delicate situation, it's not easy, it's very personal how you manage your emotion," Pochettino said. "We're here trying to help him and everyone that can feel that emotion of being abused. It's a thing that we are of course fighting all together to try to stop." Beyond Football Pochettino said the issue was nothing new and that it was a problem that reached beyond football, even if the likes of Rose and Sterling had brought it into the spotlight. How many people on the outside cannot say anything, only can go home and cry?" Tottenham's South Korean forward Son Heung-min has also been a target for abuse and said players must fight together. "We should just protect the player who gets racism and fight all together," Son said.

Raheem Sterling says more must speak out against racism

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has urged his side to make sure they do not leave Manchester United room for another heroic comeback in the Champions League when they visit Old Trafford in Wednesday's eagerly-awaited quarter-final first leg.

United made history in the last-16 by overturning a 2-0 home defeat against Paris St Germain to win the tie on away goals with a dramatic 3-1 victory in the French capital, underlining the club's reputation for stirring European revivals.

"The PSG game should serve as an example for us that you cannot afford to leave Manchester United alive, if you can beat them with lots of goals then you have to do it," Pique told a news conference on Tuesday.

"In the first leg PSG were the better side, they scored two goals and they could have scored more. United have a great history, in the second leg they played with lots of young lads from their academy and they still qualified.

"That game should remind us that we have to be very concentrated, as United are a very dangerous team."

Pique, 32, spent his first years as a professional with United, joining the club aged 17 but returning to Barca in 2008 after failing to hold down a place in the team due to fierce competition from Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

Pique has turned into one of Barcelona's best ever defenders in his 11 years back at his boyhood club and is on course to win an eighth La Liga title with the Catalans, who are also in the Copa del Rey final and have the treble within their sights.

But he said his experience at United was invaluable to his development.

"I went from being kid to an adult here, I had my first experiences as a professional and some crazy experiences off the pitch. I came here alone, without my family, I learned a lot and I left a completely different person," he recalled.

Pique also said United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer helped him through difficult times in Manchester when they were team mates, and he praised the former Norway forward for reviving the club's fortunes since succeeding Jose Mourinho in December.

"I remember Ole as a great team mate, I was 17 and he was a veteran and for sure he helped me adapt to the club, to the country and to the city," Pique added.

"It was a great experience to train alongside him, he helped me a lot so I'm happy to see him in charge of Manchester United. He's done a great job, won lots of games and got them playing much better. Tomorrow will be tough and I hope we can win."

Don't leave United alive in the tie, Gerard Pique warns Barcelona

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has shaken off a muscle injury and could return to action in Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur, manager Pep Guardiola said on Monday.

The Argentine has returned to full training after missing the last two matches following an injury in last month's 2-0 Premier League win over Fulham.

"He trained with the team for the first time and he feels better," Guardiola told a news conference.

Kyle Walker picked up a minor hamstring injury in Saturday's 1-0 FA Cup semi-final victory over Brighton and Hove Albion but should be ready to play while fellow defender Benjamin Mendy is also in contention.

"They make a recovery... now we'll train. Kyle feels better, we'll see now how he is, and Benjamin recovered well... I think they're contenders for tomorrow if the doctor doesn't tell me the opposite."

Guardiola said he expected Tottenham to stick to their attacking instincts as they look to seal a first European victory in their new stadium.

"We know what we are going to face, up to us how we handle it. We have to know to handle the situations if we don't that's because we are not prepared to go through," the Spaniard said.

"I will give my message to the players, always playing against Spurs away they will always play in that way I can't expect differently.

"How we handle that if they do it we must try to do it more. Maybe they will play high press and aggressive we will prepare for that."

Manchester City's Sergio Aguero in contention to face Tottenham in Champions League

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said that the team need to focus on the upcoming crucial matches as there is no time to drink one "drop of beer or alcohol" if the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/sports/kevin-de-bruyne-and-pep-guardiola-say-quadruple-impossible-but-bernardo-silva-disagrees-208636">players seek a quadruple bid</a>.&nbsp;

After Saturday's 1-0 semi-final win over Brighton and Hove Albion, City are still on course to potentially add the FA Cup, English Premier League and UEFA Champions League and to this season's Carabao Cup victory.&nbsp;

In a press conference, Pep said, "We don't have too much time to tell ourselves 'oh we're so good, how nice everything is.'"&nbsp;

He added, "Because the only focus now is to not drink one drop of beer or alcohol, eat good, rest – regeneration tomorrow, regeneration the day after tomorrow – and prepare for the game against one of the best teams in the Premier League and Europe (Tottenham Hotspur) when they have had six days to prepare and we've had two-and-a-half."&nbsp;

There are just two days for them to prepare between Saturday's FA Cup victory and Tuesday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur.

And with Spurs going into the all-English European tie having had a six-day rest period, Guardiola has conceded that the north London side have an advantage.&nbsp;

Guardiola is also worried over the injuries as he said, "Every game we lose players. &nbsp;I don't know whether Kyle Walker will be fit and we are where we are."&nbsp;

Pep Guardiola: 'No time to drink a drop of beer' ahead of Tottenham clash

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/search?q=Pep+Guardiola">Pep Guardiola</a> said that Manchester City need to play 'like a machine' if they are to win a historic quadruple this season.&nbsp;

While interacting with the media, Guardiola said, "We aren't thinking too much about the title, it's what's next. What's next is Cardiff, prepare well and go like a machine to win, to play, and then try to win."&nbsp;

He added, "One day it might not happen and then accept the reality, so that is what it is. Mentally the people (players) are ready."&nbsp;

After the previous 2-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, City are back to the top of the Premier League table.&nbsp;

Also, the seventh successive league victory keeps alive City's hopes an unprecedented quadruple of League Cup, Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League trophies this season.&nbsp;

City's boss Guardiola believes his players have the mental strength needed to achieve the quadruple bid.&nbsp;

"So mentally we are there. I think we are there, the players are not stupid. The fact we are living something so difficult to achieve - arriving the beginning of April to fight," said Guardiola.&nbsp;

"We have won two titles this season and fighting for the other three. So, they know the way we start to play, they show me they want to do it (win the quadruple)," he added.&nbsp;

Be like a 'machine': Pep Guardiola to Manchester City on quadruple bid

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri confirmed on Friday Cristiano Ronaldo is an injury doubt for the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Ajax on April 10.

Ronaldo, a five-time European Cup winner, left the field with a thigh problem captaining Portugal in Monday's draw against Serbia.

"He's already started to move but he won't return to training until he feels fit. There is a risk he'll miss the first leg against Ajax," Allegri said.

"We have to be careful because we're in a tricky period of the season. It's better he misses one match and comes back when he's 100 per cent so there's no risk of a repeat injury. It's better to miss one match than two months," Allegri added.

Serie A champions Juventus travel to Amsterdam before hosting the Dutch outfit on April 16 with the Italians looking for a first European title since 1996.

Juve have virtually wrapped up the Scudetto crown for an eighth straight season as they hold a 15-point lead over second place Napoli with 10 games of the season to go and face lowly Empoli on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo 'risks missing' Champions League quarter-final first leg

Manchester United will hike prices for away fans when they host Barcelona in their Champions League quarter-final first leg to subsidise tickets for their own supporters travelling to Spain for the return, the Premier League club said.

United, who were allocated 4,610 tickets for the second leg, were informed by Barcelona that the price for away fans at the Nou Camp would be 102 pounds ($134), which British media reported was the most expensive ticket to a United game outside of a final.

In response, United raised their ticket prices for Barcelona supporters travelling to Old Trafford to the same amount and will use the extra revenue to ensure United fans pay only 75 pounds for tickets for the second leg.

"Barcelona confirmed our tickets for this game were to be priced at 102 pounds. In this instance we believe that our travelling supporters are again being subjected to increased/excessive ticket prices from the host club," United said in a statement.

"Similarly to Valencia in the group stages and Sevilla away last season, we have again taken the difficult decision to charge Barcelona fans for the home leg at Old Trafford the same amount that Barcelona are charging for the away fixture (102 pounds).

"We will use the additional revenue gained from this to subsidise our travelling support by paying the 27 pounds price difference for each of our travelling supporters."

Last month, Bayern Munich fans protested against the cost of Champions League tickets by unfurling banners during the first leg of their last-16 tie at Liverpool, with the supporters of the Premier League club also backing them at Anfield.

Manchester United to subsidise fans by matching Barca's 'excessive' prices

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said Barcelona will have the edge in their much-anticipated Champions League quarter-final against Manchester United and has backed the Spanish club to lift the title for a sixth time.

United have rediscovered their verve under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who took over from Jose Mourinho in December, and has guided the club to 14 wins in 19 games.

Pochettino, however, feels United still have a lot of work to do to compete with Barcelona, who are 10 points clear at the top of the La Liga standings.

"If there is one favourite team to win Champions League it is Barcelona," former Espanyol boss Pochettino told reporters.

"(Ernesto) Valverde is doing a great job. They have players of extraordinary level, and then they have Lionel Messi.

"I think the Manchester United team that has been built during the past few years was built to win big things. But I think Barcelona are one step higher than Manchester United."

Spurs will face domestic rivals Manchester City in the quarter-finals, with Pochettino indicating Pep Guardiola's reigning English champions are built to win Europe's elite trophy.

"It is clear that Manchester City are a team designed to win and with an obligation to win," he added.

"We will try to compete. We know that in short tournaments the fitness of the team at the time is very important. We have the incentive that we have a new stadium and we will play with 62,000 spectators. That will create a special energy."

Cristiano Ronaldo faces disciplinary hearing over inappropriate goal celebration

Juventus fell to their first Serie A defeat of the season on Sunday as Genoa ran out 2-0 winners days after the Turin club's Champions League heroics against Atletico Madrid.

Stefano Sturaro, who joined Genoa on loan from Juventus in January before the deal was made permanent, put the home side in front in the second half before fellow substitute Goran Pandev secured the shock result with 10 minutes remaining.

Cristiano Ronaldo inspired a remarkable European comeback for the Italian champions on Tuesday when he scored a hat-trick to overturn a 2-0 first-leg defeat against Atletico and send his side through to the quarter-finals with a 3-2 aggregate win.

However, the Portuguese was left out of the matchday squad for the trip to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri was left frustrated as Genoa took points off his side for the second time this season, having drawn 1-1 in Turin in October.

“I expected a different Juventus," Allegri told Italian broadcasters.

"We did not put in a good performance, we made some mistakes and then this goal came out of nowhere.

“Much like the Coppa Italia defeat to Atalanta, we picked the right game to lose, because it’s just before the break for international duty, so we have time to unplug and rest.

“I am actually happy for Stefano, because if anyone had to score against us, I’m glad it was Sturaro. He’s a lovely guy and suffered so much, out of action for practically a year with that tendon injury, so he deserves it.”

Juve had dropped points just three times this season going into the game, with draws against Genoa, Atalanta and Parma, while they were unbeaten overall in the top-flight for the last 31 rounds, since losing 1-0 to Napoli on 22 April 2018.

However, the hosts started the brighter as Christian Kouame forced a good save from former Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin before Cesare Prandelli's side were awarded a penalty for handball, only for a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review to overturn the decision.

Juventus thought they had gone in front after the break when Paulo Dybala swept home a finish, but VAR chalked the goal off for an offside in the build-up.

Sturaro then curled a finish into the corner against his parent club just minutes after coming on, before Pandev made sure of the three points with a powerful finish.

Despite the result, Juventus remain 18 points clear of second-placed Napoli at the summit of the table, while Genoa climbed above Sassuolo into 12th place on 33 points.

He’s a lovely guy and suffered so much, out of action for practically a year with that tendon injury, so he deserves it.” Juve had dropped points just three times this season going into the game, with draws against Genoa, Atalanta and Parma, while they were unbeaten overall in the top-flight for the last 31 rounds, since losing 1-0 to Napoli on 22 April 2018.

Juventus suffer first league defeat of the season at Genoa

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/search?q=Ole+Gunnar+Solskjaer">Ole Gunnar Solskjaer</a> says Manchester United are not scared of playing the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against at the Camp Nou after drawing Barcelona on Friday.

United were originally drawn to play at Barcelona in the first leg, which would have given them the safety net of playing the decisive return at Old Trafford.

But with Manchester City due to play their quarter-final second leg against Tottenham at home in the same week, UEFA decided to make United host Barca in the first leg on April 10, after stipulating in advance following advice from local authorities that United and City could not play at home on successive nights.

"I'm probably completely different to 99 per cent of managers, as I prefer away last like we had against PSG (in the previous round)," Solskjaer said.

After losing 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in Manchester, Solskjaer's side claimed a stunning 3-1 second-leg victory in the French capital to progress to the last eight.

"If you can get a decent result at home, then we know we can go away and hurt anyone like we did in Paris," he added.

Having to face Lionel Messi's Barca on their turf in the second leg on April 16 could put United at a disadvantage, as the Catalans have not lost any of their last 30 home games in the competition, winning all but three of those.

But United interim boss Solskjaer insists he is happy to travel to Spain with the tie potentially in the balance after his team showed they could cope with that pressure in the last 16.

"We want these games against the biggest clubs and the biggest teams. We had the final against them in 2009 and 2011 (both of which Barca won) and the semi-final in 2008 when Scholesy (Paul Scholes) scored," Solskjaer said.

"It's these games our fans and this club crave. We are looking forward to this one."

Solskjaer's trip to the Camp Nou will stir happy memories for the former United striker, who scored the dramatic stoppage-time winner in the club's famous Champions League final triumph against Bayern Munich in 1999.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Manchester United don't fear Camp Nou test after drawing Barcelona

Barcelona will meet Manchester United in the Champions League last eight in a repeat of the 2009 and 2011 finals which were both won by the Catalans, with the help of goals from Lionel Messi.

Manchester City face Tottenham Hotspur in an all-Premier League clash, their first-ever European meeting, while Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus meet Ajax Amsterdam, who are back in the last eight after a 16-year absence.

Liverpool, the fourth English representative, will face Porto in a repeat of last year's last 16 tie which they won 5-0 on aggregate.

The semi-final pairings were also made with Tottenham or City to face Ajax or Juventus and Manchester United or Barcelona to meet either Liverpool or Porto.

The draw had an unusual feel with neither Bayern Munich nor Real Madrid in the hat, the first time both European giants have failed to reach the last eight since 2005-06.

Barcelona, who are in the last eight for the 12th successive season, will be away in the first leg after UEFA switched the order to avoid United's home match clashing with Manchester City, who host Spurs in their second leg.

Manchester United draw Barcelona in Champions League quarter-finals

England's preparations for their Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands on June 6 could be thrown into disarray if two Premier League teams reach the Champions League final, national team manager Gareth Southgate has said.

The Champions League final will be held in Madrid on June 1, with England set to play their semi-final in Portugal five days later, leaving Southgate little time to work with his players.

"It could be a mess," the 48-year-old told reporters on Wednesday. "Let's say if two of our teams made it to the Champions League final then we wouldn't see them, at best, until the Monday before we play on Thursday.

"And with the emotion of (the Champions League final), can those players even realistically play on Thursday night for us?"

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Liverpool are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, the first time since 2009 that four teams from

Southgate's squad for this month's European Championship qualifiers has 13 players from the four clubs, including Spurs striker Harry Kane, Liverpool captain Jordan

Henderson and City winger Raheem Sterling.

"They would all need a period where they would need to psychologically switch off," Southgate added. "We`d have to look at Champions League final players when we get to it.

"It will be a little bit like the World Cup in that players will finish at different times."

Liverpool have no intention of sacrificing Champions League progress to boost their chances of winning the Premier League title and will do their best to win both competitions this season, goalkeeper Alisson has said.

The Merseyside club, who face Bayern Munich in the Champions League later on Wednesday, are also in the race for the Premier League title, leading some pundits to suggest they should prioritise domestic glory over European success.

Alisson's team mate Mohamed Salah said earlier this week that he was willing to put his own Champions League ambitions on the back-burner to help his team win the Premier League.

"Our goal is to win the league and everything we're playing in, the Champions League as well," Alisson told a news conference on Tuesday. "We can't choose what we go for. Actually, we can choose, and we choose both."

The Brazil international's comments echo those of his manager Juergen Klopp, who said ahead of the Bayern game that the result would have no bearing on his team's domestic ambitions.

Liverpool, who finished as Champions League runners-up last season, are a point and a place behind leaders Manchester City with eight games left in the Premier League season.

The last-16 second leg tie at Bayern is finely poised after the sides played out a 0-0 draw in the first leg, with Liverpool needing a win or score draw to reach the quarter-finals.

Rampant Manchester City demolished a woeful Schalke 7-0 to complete a 10-2 aggregate win and become the third English side into the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday.

City's record home win in Europe did not look likely after a quiet opening 35 minutes but once Sergio Aguero began the rout from the penalty spot it became embarrassingly easy as City reached the last eight for the third time in four years.

Aguero doubled City's lead three minutes later and the impressive Leroy Sane made it 3-0 before halftime.

Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva finished off flowing moves after the break and youngster Phil Foden bagged his first European goal before Gabriel Jesus made it seven, rounding off the biggest ever Champions League defeat for a German side.

City, who trailed 2-1 in the away leg with 10 men before turning it around late on, join local rivals Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in Friday's quarter-final draw, the first time since 2011 that at least three English clubs are in the last eight.

Liverpool can make it a full house when they play against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

With Real Madrid and Paris St Germain having been knocked out, Guardiola's side will fancy their chances of going all the way for the first time in the competition.

"It was a clear result. We didn't start that well, we were a bit scared to play," Guardiola, whose side racked up the biggest aggregate win by an English club in the knockout rounds, said.

"But after it went 1-0, we relaxed and decided to play and be aggressive."

Schalke's players were barracked by their own fans at the end of a miserable night for Domenico Tedesco's side who face a fight to preserve their Bundesliga status.

"You can imagine how I'm feeling. Terrible," Tedesco said. "We played well for 30 minutes, but after we went 1-0 down, we had an extreme drop off in performance."

The sight of Sane causing so much discomfort for his former club hardly helped their mood.

The 23-year-old, who joined City in 2016, was a handful all night but it was the ever-reliable Aguero who got the ball rolling -- coolly dinking his penalty down the middle after Silva was bundled over by Jeffrey Bruma.

VAR FRUSTRATION

Aguero then took advantage of Sterling's backheel to make it 2-0 although a near three-minute VAR delay to check whether the England forward had been offside in the buildup frustrated the fans inside the Etihad Stadium.

Sane then swept in City's third as Guardiola's side began to cut through a dispirited Schalke at will, although again there was an annoying VAR delay before his goal was confirmed.

Sane had a goal wiped out for offside in the second half but then produced a great slide-rule cross to feed Sterling who powered home City's fourth goal in the 56th minute.

Boos rang out as VAR was yet again employed to ensure Sterling had been onside when the ball was played across.

Another Sane assist allowed Silva to make it 5-0 before City threaded their way through the Schalke defence and Foden skipped around exposed keeper Ralf Faehrmann to add a sixth.

Far from take their foot off the gas City were hungry for more goals and substitute Jesus got his name on the scoresheet when he curled in with six minutes remaining.

Champions League: Seven up for Manchester City as they demolish Schalke

Juventus shares soared more than 20 per cent on Wednesday after Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to overturn a two-goal deficit and defeat Atletico Madrid in a key Champions League match.

The victory on Tuesday night put the Turin-based club through to the quarterfinals of the competition, qualifying the Italian champions for about 10.5 million euros ($11.9 million) in additional payments.

The cash would be on top of the 9.5 million euros the Italian club received for reaching the last 16.

At 0940 GMT, the shares were up 16 per cent topping the leader board on the Milan bourse after hitting their highest since late January in early trading. The shares were on track for their best day since October 2013.

"Considering the amount they gain by qualifying for the next round against the odds, it is quite fair," said a trader.

"Plus looking forward, the only obstacle for them might be Barcelona (if they do qualify) or possibly Man City, the other clubs aren't that great."

Juventus are controlled by Exor, the investment holding of Italy's Agnelli family, which owns nearly 64 per cent of the soccer team.

Juventus shares soar as investors cheer Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah is willing to put his Champions League ambitions on the back-burner to help the Merseyside club claim their first English league crown in 29 years, the Egyptian forward has said.

Liverpool are second in the Premier League with 73 points, one point behind defending champions Manchester City with eight matches remaining in the season.

Juergen Klopp's side are also competing for silverware in the Champions League where they visit Bayern Munich on Wednesday for the return leg of their last-16 tie, after the sides played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield last month.

"I'll be honest with you, the most prestigious competition for me is the Champions League," Salah told a news conference at Anfield on Monday.

"But the dream for the city and the club is the league. So, I'm happy to sacrifice my dream for their dream but if we win both that would great and this is what we are trying to do."

Salah, who suffered a shoulder injury in last year's Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid, later said Liverpool were mentally prepared to take advantage if City lose their way in the home stretch of the domestic season.

"The competition is very tough and we have difficult games left as do they," the 26-year-old added.

"All you can do is win your games and hopefully they will fail in one so we can win the title. My mind is sharp and there is pressure but I'm strong mentally and we have to keep going.

"We will see what we can do at the end of the season but mentally I am ready for everything."

Mohamed Salah ready to sacrifice Champions League dream for domestic glory

In order to break out of a difficult phase, Real Madrid have played their trump card - reappointing Zinedine Zidane as the head coach on a three-year contract.&nbsp;

Zidane, who led Madrid to a historic third consecutive Champions League triumph said, "I'm very happy to be home. I want to put this club back where it belongs."&nbsp;

But to restore the previous form and win the most precious European crown in football again next year, Madrid will need some serious strategy.&nbsp;

Following Santiago Solari's sacking, Real Madrid made the announcement of Zizou's return and the change came less than a week after two losses to Barcelona and another to Ajax.&nbsp;

The results eliminated the club from two major title races - Champions League and Copa del Rey. It also diminished hopes of winning the Spanish league as currently, the club is in the fifth position, 12 points adrift of leaders Barcelona.&nbsp;

One point is very clear, Zidane has no pressure in this season because of the condition of the club, however, he has an opportunity to begin from scratch.&nbsp;

"When the president called me, I could not tell him no," said Zidane.&nbsp;

"When you have won a lot, sometimes you can have a dip, and this year it has been like that."&nbsp;

"I don't blame anybody. Lopetegui and Solari wanted to do the best they could for the players, the team and the club. It went how it went, I won't get into that, we must look forward," he added.&nbsp;

The club is out from the UCL title race but Zidane will look to perform better in La Liga games with&nbsp;only 11 games left in the league.&nbsp;

The ongoing season is, however, another matter since it is very difficult for even a coach like Zidane.&nbsp;

After replacing Rafael Benitez in the Santiago Bernabeu dugout in January 2016, Zidane won nine trophies but the narrative has changed at Bernabeu since his exit as the club is going through a crisis.&nbsp;

Real's former player Cristiano Ronaldo's departure in July has had a big impact on the club this season while their other key players like Marcelo, Isco and Gareth Bale have struggled.&nbsp;

Zidane was hailed as one of Real's great coaches of all times and his reunion with the players will boost their morale.&nbsp;

Now as Real Madrid coach, Zidane needs to fill Ronaldo's void and deal with players who are struggling with injuries. Also, he immediately has to reinforce the attack unit.

Even the players like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric have failed to deliver.&nbsp;

In order to break out of a difficult phase, Real Madrid have played their trump card - reappointing Zinedine Zidane as the head coach on a three-year contract. Zidane, who led Madrid to a historic third consecutive Champions League triumph said, "I'm very happy to be home. I want to put this club back where it belongs." But to restore the previous form and win the most precious European crown in football again next year, Madrid will need some serious strategy. Following Santiago Solari's sacking, Real Madrid made the announcement of Zizou's return and the change came less than a week after two losses to Barcelona and another to Ajax. The results eliminated the club from two major title races - Champions League and Copa del Rey. It also diminished hopes of winning the Spanish league as currently, the club is in the fifth position, 12 points adrift of leaders Barcelona. One point is very clear, Zidane has no pressure in this season because of the condition of the club, however, he has an opportunity to begin from scratch. "When the president called me, I could not tell him no," said Zidane. "When you have won a lot, sometimes you can have a dip, and this year it has been like that." "I don't blame anybody. Lopetegui and Solari wanted to do the best they could for the players, the team and the club. It went how it went, I won't get into that, we must look forward," he added. The club is out from the UCL title race but Zidane will look to perform better in La Liga games with only 11 games left in the league. The ongoing season is, however, another matter since it is very difficult for even a coach like Zidane. After replacing Rafael Benitez in the Santiago Bernabeu dugout in January 2016, Zidane won nine trophies but the narrative has changed at Bernabeu since his exit as the club is going through a crisis. Real's former player Cristiano Ronaldo's departure in July has had a big impact on the club this season while their other key players like Marcelo, Isco and Gareth Bale have struggled. Zidane was hailed as one of Real's great coaches of all times and his reunion with the players will boost their morale. Now as Real Madrid coach, Zidane needs to fill Ronaldo's void and deal with players who are struggling with injuries. Also, he immediately has to reinforce the attack unit. Even the players like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric have failed to deliver. First and foremost, Zidane must assess the team and focus on new signings otherwise the "genius coach" will drown along with Real Madrid's sinking ship. Even Zizou's return will not help Real Madrid's sinking ship this season

Zinedine Zidane: The prodigal son returns to Real Madrid for new challenges

Kylian Mbappe said he was left "stunned" by Paris Saint-Germain's gut-wrenching exit from the Champions League in midweek as Manchester United pulled off an improbable comeback.

Marcus Rashford's 94th-minute penalty at the Parc des Princes gave United a 3-1 last 16 second leg win in France to send the English club through on away goals after becoming the first team&nbsp;in the competition's history to overturn a 2-0 home defeat.

"I'm stunned. I haven't been able to sleep," Mbappe told TF1 in an interview. "It's difficult, we'd worked so hard to get to this point and we're disappointed. We're going to try and pick ourselves back up."

PSG's game at Nantes this weekend was postponed although they remain well clear of second-placed Lille and all but assured a sixth Ligue 1 title in seven seasons.

Thomas Tuchel's men are also through to the last four of the French Cup, but Mbappe admitted it was hard to look ahead to the rest of the season with the pain of Wednesday's defeat still raw.

"Honestly, it's hard to give it too much thought because the Champions League was our goal. The stadium was full for a magnificent occasion, we spoiled the party. We didn't want to ruin it but in the end we did."

However, the 20-year-old allayed any fears among PSG fans that his immediate future could lie elsewhere in the wake of the club's latest European failure.

"I think I will be here, that's guaranteed even," he said.&nbsp;

"With this elimination and all the problems it's going to create, there's no point in my personal situation being added to it. So there, that's clear and precise."

PSG moved Sunday's session from their training ground to the Parc de Princes due to security concerns after graffiti saying 'Shameful! Spineless' and 'Respect us' in reference to their supporters were found at Camp de Loges.

Around 100 fans were allowed inside the stadium but the club's players were subject to insults and firebombs which echoed around the stadium an AFP photographer said.

Elsewhere in Ligue 1 on Sunday Lille kept a firm grip on second place, 14 points behind PSG, as Nicholas Pepe scored his 17th league goal of the season to beat nine-man Saint-Etienne 1-0.

Stephane Bahoken scored a 92nd-minute equaliser to claim a point for Angers at Montpellier as it finished 2-2 and Toulouse overcame Guingamp 1-0 thanks to Yaya Sanogo's first-half effort.

Later, Rennes host Caen and controversial figure Mario Balotelli welcomes former club Nice to Marseille after scoring four goals in six matches for his new side.&nbsp;
