In addition to 10 ambulances and five fire tenders deployed for relief and rescue operations, three teams of the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) have been engaged, two from Ghaziabad and one from Bengaluru.

"Two more teams of #NDRF are being airlifted from Ghaziabad in addition to one team which was moved from Bangalore in connection with Dharwad building collapse," the NDRF tweeted earlier in the day.

About 150 police, fire and emergency personnel too have joined the rescue operations.

Former Karnataka minister and Congress leader from the region Vinay Kulkarni had said Tuesday that one of the partners in the building was his relative and that whoever was involved should face action.

An eye-witness had alleged that the building did not have the capacity to bear four storeys whereas an extra floor was being added.

"The builders had used substandard materials," he told reporters Tuesday.

At least 10 young children were trapped when a four-story building collapsed in a densely-populated area of Lagos Wednesday, and rescuers were trying to reach them through the damaged roof.&nbsp;

The children were attending a nursery and primary school on the top floor of the residential building when the structure collapsed. Police said they believed scores of people were trapped under the rubble.&nbsp;

The incident took place near Itafaji market on Lagos Island at around 10:00 am (0900 GMT).

In chaotic scenes, thousands of people thronged the area as police and rescue workers sought to rescue the victims.&nbsp;

A young man helping rescue efforts who gave his name only as Derin said "at least 10 children" were trapped inside but "thought to be alive."

Police said the overall number of people inside was likely much higher.&nbsp;

Seven people were killed after an LPG cylinder blast in a building, where work-related to ceiling fans was being carried out, in West Delhi's Sudarshan Park triggered a collapse bringing a portion of the structure down, police said.

The fire department received a call about the collapse at around 8.48 pm Thursday and eight fire tenders, along with ambulances, were rushed to the spot, they said.

"The incident took place in Sudarshan Park area after an LPG cylinder blast. Seven people have died. The building comprises ground and the first floors," Monika Bhardwaj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), said.

Police said around 15 people were rescued and shifted to Acharya Bhikshu hospital. Of them, seven died and four people, who were critical, have been shifted to Safdarjung hospital. A few more persons are feared trapped under the debris, they said.

The structure is located in a congested area and it was being used for painting ceiling fans.

The owner of the "factory" was among the injured, police said. 
Manish, who witnessed the tragedy unfold and also helped the team with rescue operations, said the building suffered partial damage.

"Fifteen persons were rescued and rushed to Acharya Bhikshu hospital in front of me. Later, we got to know that six people including a five-year-old child died," he said.

A resident of the locality, Surender Jain, said he got to know about the incident through media reports.

"I was shocked to see the visuals on TV. I rushed to check the situation. Three years ago, a similar incident had occurred in the nearby locality. It's a big market where work related to fans is carried out," he said.

A case has been registered against the owner of the factory under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the matter is being probed, the DCP said.

Along with police and a Delhi Fire Service team, an NDRF team is also at the spot carrying out rescue operations in full swing, police said.&nbsp;

A five-storey building collapsed in northwest Delhi on Wednesday killing at least six people including four children and two women.

According to reports, the incident occurred weeks after 20-year-old "weak" structure was inspected by a municipal team following the complaints.

Union Minister Harsh Vardhan conveyed his condolence to the deceased as he visited the site.

"It is indeed painful that they lost their lives in the most tragic manner. I have conveyed my deep condolences to the families of the dead and shared their grief", he said.

The minister also said that the search-and-rescue operation was complete and some of the injured have been taken to GB Pant Hospital.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case under IPC Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), punishable with a maximum jail term of 10 years, against the owner Dharmender, who had rented out the building in Ashok Vihar.

According to a report by news agency PTI, a complaint was lodged about the building being dangerous on August 16, 2017, and a team of civic body had inspected the building around 20 days ago.

A portion of a building in central Taltala area in Kolkata collapsed this afternoon with few people feared trapped under the debris.

The bodies of Himadri Pahar (38) and Hansa Shau (20) were found from the rubble of the 10 Mirror Street building in central Kolkata&#39;s Taltala area in the evening, police said.

&quot;We are clearing the debris, it was a residential building that was being used as a godown,&quot; Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee said.

The century-old building on 10 mirror street collapsed around 12:45pm(local time), officials said.

Fire tenders, disaster management units and local police have been rushed to the spot for search and rescue operation.
