He met the then US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, during his bilateral visit to Washington, DC, in September 2022.&nbsp; While the father&mdash;President Asif Ali Zardari&mdash;will be meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping on 5th February in Beijing, hours later, Bilawal, the son, will be sharing the room with US President Donald Trump at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC, on 6th February.
As per reports in the Pakistani media, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was initially scheduled to travel to China with his father, President Asif Ali Zardari, but an invite for the Prayer breakfast with President Trump is what seemingly made Bilawal change his plans. And since the Shehbaz Sharif government took charge, the in-person engagements or even phone call engagements, with the US, have been almost nonexistent.

Asif Ali Zardari was elected as the president of Pakistan for a second time on Saturday (Mar 9). Zardari, the co-chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) defeated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Sunni Ittehad Council candidate Mahmood Khan Achakzai. Zardari got 411 electoral votes in parliament while Achakzai secured 181 votes. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Zardari on his victory in the presidential elections. Zardari, father of PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and husband to assassinated former prime minister Benazir Bhutto is set to clash with Mahmood Achakzai.&nbsp;

While Zardari is a joint candidate of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Achakzai is a candidate of the Sunni Ittehad Council.&nbsp;

The two leaders submitted their nomination papers&nbsp;before Islamabad High Court (IHC)&nbsp;Chief Justice Aamer Farooq - the presiding officer for the presidential polls, Pakistan's&nbsp;The News International&nbsp;reported.&nbsp;

According to The News International, Zardari submitted two nomination papers – one in Islamabad and the second in Karachi.

Three independent candidates Asghar Ali Mubarak, Abdul Qadoos, and Waheed Ahmed Kamal also submitted nomination papers for the presidential election. The presidential elections will be held on March 9.

The scrutiny of the nomination papers is scheduled to be conducted on March 4.

The president of Pakistan is elected by the members of the National Assembly, the Senate, and the four provincial assemblies.

The voting for the Presidential election is held through a secret ballot.

<h2>Efforts continue to ramp up support</h2>

On March 2,&nbsp;a delegation led by Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Aimal Wali Khan met Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians President Asif Ali Zardari at the Zardari House.

The PPP in a statement said that ANP has declared support for Zardari in the Presidential polls.

Zardari Vs Achakzai clash to decide who will be Pakistan's next president

In Pakistan the election commission is gearing up to hold elections for the office of President by 9th of March.
