“These friendly humanoids, who have come in peace,” wrote officials with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post.

UFO-like vehicle commits lane violation

The space car was going to Roswell, New Mexico, via Crawford County on Friday evening (July 5), as per the post. It was headed for a festival.

The sheriff's office said that they spotted the vehicle committing a lane violation. The vehicle also carried an expired license plate from Indiana.

Meanwhile, speaking to Fox News Digital, Public Information Officer and Undersheriff Major Adam Carnal said that with the “wind/traffic of the interstate plus the size and aerodynamics of his vehicle, he understood that the potential for lane violations existed."&nbsp;

The officers gave a written warning for the violations to the driver and also snapped a few pictures of the travelling “UFO.”

“Given the good nature of the driver and the interesting nature of the vehicle, we opted to provide a fun social media post for our community. It was a great interaction and we wished him safe travels to his destination,” stated Carnal.

In the study, the gases described are fluorinated versions of methane, ethane, and propane, along with gases which have a mixture of nitrogen and fluorine or sulfur and fluorine. These gases can be detected with the use of existing technology in the atmospheres of planets which are outside our solar system.

The gases, in large volumes, will act as pollutants if present on Earth. The warming power in Sulfur hexafluoride is 23,500 times in comparison to carbon dioxide. A freezing planet can be heated by the presence of a small amount of this gas to the point of creating liquid water persistently.

Scientists have also found potential reasons for these gases getting used by the extraterrestrials on an exoplanet.

Lead author of the study and astrobiologist Edward Schwieterman said, “[They’d] be good for a civilization that perhaps wanted to forestall an impending ice age or terraform an otherwise uninhabitable planet in their system, as humans have proposed for&nbsp;Mars."

Since these gases do not occur in large quantities naturally, they need to be manufactured. If the gases are found, they will hint at the existence of intelligent, technology-using life forms.&nbsp;

Tidal locking is a cosmic phenomenon which has been observed inside the Solar system, although it has not been found in any of the planets revolving around the Sun.

Tidal locking happens when the rotation cycle of two cosmic bodies slowly synchronises with their orbit because of gravitational interaction.&nbsp;

However, the findings have finally confirmed that tidally locked exoplanets also exist outside our solar systems and may be common in the Milky Way.

"This thing that has been theoretical now feels real," said astronomer Nicolas Cowan of McGill University in Canada, while speaking to Nature. "This is actually what these planets look like," he added.

As per the research, Kua'kua also doesn't have an atmosphere which means that any temperature readings are related directly to its surface.

During the research, a humpback whale named Twain approached and circled the team's boat in response to a recorded humpback 'contact' call played into the sea via an underwater speaker. &nbsp;

The scientists said that the whale responded in a conversational style to the whale 'greeting signal' and the communication lasted for 20 minutes. Twain also responded to each playback call and matched the interval variations between each signal.&nbsp;

Continents on Earth were formed due to movement of tectonic plates. This occurs because the rocks of the tectonic plates floats over the molten magma. The molten magma remains in that state because of the heat from radioactive elements such as uranium and thorium.

Cardiff University's Greaves analysed levels of uranium present in nearby stars. She then combined the data with the ages of stars measured from the Gaia satellite.

Andy Mead, who had constructed and designed the system, had reached out to Loeb on October 21 after he saw some strange observations made by the sensors.&nbsp;

“I started getting messages this morning about a 'viral' sound that was heard throughout New England,” stated Mead, in the shared note.

With the help of statistical methods to look through large quantities of data of TESS, a group of scientists, headed by University of New South Wales' Ph.D. student Priyashkumar Mistry, discovered eight new exoplanets. 
 
As per NASA, each one of these newly-discovered planets is a "super-Earth", which is a type of exoplanet that is bigger than Earth but smaller compared to Neptune.

Nearly 400 exoplanets have been confirmed by TESS to date, and 6,977 planets await confirmation. The nearby stars are observed by the satellite, and the dips and fluctuations in their brightness are noted. 
 
If such dips are spotted, they indicate that something crossed between Earth and the star, which can be a new exoplanet. 
 
"If this orbital motion ever comes between us and the star we will observe a dip in the brightness of that observed star. This is what we call a transit," said Mistry, while speaking to Space.com. 
 
The Validation of Transiting Exoplanets using Statistical Tools (VaTEST) project was used by Mistry and his team for identifying anomalies, which helped in detecting the presence of exoplanets in the data of TESS.

Only the transiting exoplanets do not cause such dips, it can also be a result of a star orbiting another star (binary system) which may have generated a transit-like signal. 
 
Mistry stated that the transit method only helps in getting the radius of an orbiting body. Generally, a method called radial velocity (RV) is used to understand the mass of a transiting object.

It can take a lot of time to detect the RV signal as astronomers keep on observing just one star, especially if the exoplanet has a long orbital period. 
 
However, Mistry and his team were provided by VaTEST with another means to confirm if these transiting events were a result of orbiting exoplanets. 
 
"The tool takes in the transit data and some inputs such as transit depth, period, TESS identifier, etc. Then based on that it starts fitting different models on the data and performs some probability calculations. And then finally it calculates False Positive Probability (FPP), if it turns out to be &lt; 1% then we can validate that transit signal as a planetary transit," Mistry stated.

For&nbsp;long, scientists have wondered if alien life might evolve on the basis of significantly different chemistry. Researchers have speculated if silicon may work as a backbone for biology. 
 
"It's important to explore these possibilities so that we have an idea of what all forms of life can look like, not just Earth life," study senior author Betul Kacar, an astrobiologist, bacteriologist and evolutionary biologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison said while speaking to Space.com.

A type of chemical interaction which is key to life on Earth is called autocatalysis. These reactions are self-sustaining and can produce molecules which encourage the same reaction to take place again. 
 
"One of the major reasons that origin-of-life researchers care about autocatalysis is because reproduction — a key feature of life — is an example of autocatalysis," said Kacar. 
 
"Life catalyses the formation of more life. One cell produces two cells, which can become four and so on. As the number of cells multiply, the number and diversity of possible interactions multiplies accordingly,” the astrobiologist added.

<h2>An autocatalysis beyond organic compounds</h2>

In the new study, researchers were in search of an autocatalysis which is beyond organic compounds. They said that such a reaction may exist as autocatalysis can help drive abiogenesis, which is the origin of life from lifelessness. 
 
The scientists emphasised what are known as comproportionation cycles which can create multiple copies of a molecule. Such products can be used as starting materials to help these cycles reoccur, resulting in autocatalysis. 
 
"Comproportionation is arguably unique because it is a single reaction that produces multiples of an output — it looks a lot like reproduction," said study lead author Zhen Peng, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, while speaking to Space.com.
